It's all right. >> I get it. >> After watching two traffic stops 10 days apart, you might think you've seen the entire story. Unfortunately for Sovereign Myers, the court [music] record tells a different story. Like many sovereign citizen Moorish and pretending inspired arguments, the foundation of this case appears to start with paperwork. In this case, a so-called certificate of nationality card. The problem, of course, is that possessing [music] that card does not exempt anyone from a driver's license, registration, insurance, or criminal statutes. If it did, the courts would have been very interested. They were not. Following the first stop on April 24th, [music] court records show four charges were filed. And as we've seen countless times before, I have the right to travel may be a popular internet slogan, but it's considerably less effective as a legal defense. Then came another stop. 10 days later, court records show [music] three additional charges because apparently the first encounter with reality was not convincing [music] enough. Eventually, the arguments gave way to paperwork. Court records show a plea of no contest, and [music] for those unfamiliar, that's often translated as "I'm not admitting guilt. I'm [music] just not interested in taking this argument any further." And this is where the story takes a much different turn. While the traffic stops may have started [music] our journey, later court records show five separate drug charges that were adjudicated guilty. And notice what's missing from these records: no constitutional immunity, no certificate of nationality, no magical jurisdiction escape hatch. And [music] court records show a plea agreement was eventually reached regarding those several charges. >> [music] >> So, he does contract with the state. And this is where the sovereign citizens guru rarely spend time discussing, the paperwork [music] after the traffic stop. Eventually, the court issued its order, and the case moved forward. At that point, internet theories stopped mattering, and only the court mattered. And that brings us to the final result. Not a constitutional victory, not a recognition of a sovereign nation, not freedom from state authority, just another booking record documenting where the journey ultimately ends. The traffic stop lasted a few minutes.
