okay this is a 35 year old man a defendant attacking a 68 year old woman the courtroom today packed just one day you will see that I'm not a devil this video contains the video of a man who killed an elderly woman who was helping him clean his storage unit 68-year-old Mary Kay Katie wolfarth emptied a wet dry vac into a dumpster Michael Olson waited behind the trash container ready to attack wolfarth had been helping him clean out the storage unit he owned across from hers as an act of kindness that woolfar's family said was typical of the woman Olsen could give no real motivation aside from the fact wolfarth mentioned his ex-girlfriend which caused him to snap wilforth's body was found in Olson's storage unit her surveillance video showed Olson driving wolfarth's 2012 Kia Sedona minivan from the storage facility the minivan was found on June 20th the day after wolfarth's body was discovered [Music] yeah I'll let you go here all right every time I came in this thing yeah this is a little chilly over here yeah well yeah yeah just make sure it's not small turned out like the back of the cruiser yeah well actually it wasn't too bad in there but it was it's nicer in here for always yells at me through a window and hey Mike my dad was leaving someone you might care but uh can use your coffee pot so I use let me use my coffee pot we're just hanging out today my dad was out working and I was kind of doing my own thing and uh she said you know could you remember sitting here having a cigarette Bob was there you know and I was like uh she opened that door for me there's a closet door that always sticks you know that I usually just if there's no lockout or whatever I thought she meant that she doesn't know the bedroom door and I went over there like oh her Rose and blocks when they get inside or you know so I was like you know I think you guys always keep that window open why don't I used to go around there and yeah come on Bros I lost weight you could shoot now I can get in there yeah and so that's what I did I helped her get her window open or her door open went around there and it made it look like I tried to I went to jump in that's probably what the neighbors saw me doing I tried to jump in first and I was like well I need a chair I went over and I would put in our freaking bedroom door it was locked because Antoinette just was living there Vince silveri the uh landlord it was like I guess he tried to get him to get out of there sorry Olsen speaks rapidly answering the question in a story-like manner he is trying to give the impression that he doing mulch for him I was and that wasn't like I was charging them for everything I went and got him a pack of cigarettes can you go get cigarettes Mike Morris of course I did yeah I've been staying there since February of 18 with my dad after I moved out of my that way the TPO with my ex-girlfriend and now I got I don't think I'm getting in trouble for helping you were living in a house that where your dad lives yes yes yes isn't that where my address is it's on my license to be honest with you I didn't blow it up okay um but yeah I know but I wasn't for certain if that was if you were living with somebody else here no it was not so stupid okay and then and then we when we came in we arrived and you were in the basement at that time yeah I was getting up in the basement and all of a sudden I heard is there anybody here and I was like the [ __ ] was that and I was like oh [ __ ] and then I came out I wasn't ducking down like the one officer said I was like freaking trying to get some stuff clean for him and why why wouldn't they lie to me or whatever they say that I was trying to steal stuff God I've lived there for I I don't know if they actually said you were trying to steal something um well because they said that you they didn't know that you were in a house oh my god did you see how intoxicated she was they drink all day every day they drink a liter of kamchaka down there every day Olsen tries to make the person who called the police sound unreliable as if all of this is a misunderstanding it is a common deflection technique that's why Bob has the he's a blood alcohol monitor I think I thought it was house arrested first and I said oh my gosh they didn't recognize me when I came back because I uh didn't stay with my mom a little bit here and me and my dad butt heads I'm not living there belong with my dad but I will go down every once in a while do some laundry you only need to get away from my mother my mother's a bear but Bob didn't even recognize me when today or yesterday uh yesterday no yesterday okay yeah Bob didn't recognize me he thought I was Josh yes exactly if you get my phone I can show you all the videos that yeah I have of Bob and Rose and how come on uh probably three four days ago I was just being goofy and just shaving around my cousins coming in from town he's Marine I want to do something funny for him and heck I've never shaved my head before really I mean a couple times but not like shaved and shaved it right it feels kind of good I kind of like it a little cooler in the summer right yeah exactly that's why I mean and literally I think so I went to a I played where I was a baseball with a buddy of mine uh that I think I played from when I was 27 until about 30 anyway with the tournament of muscle Stadium I didn't have gel and I didn't have my hat so I was wrong with this was in my face I was like [ __ ] it I'm getting rid of it so today you're mulching uh throughout the thing there okay yeah and then uh is that pretty much all you were doing today yes and around the house yes exactly um did you ever leave well yeah of course I'd like to go get the mulch and then I went up uh where else did I go over and get the pack of cigarettes at the liquor store I got to tell them to drink and we're gonna go golfing golfing tonight okay and then uh you went to the liquor store for them no for me awesome I guess Bob's not allowed to drink anymore he's good thank you okay because I saw him leave the house but you know if there was an ankle bracelet it would have gone off it's a blood alcohol content monitor I imagine okay and then juice that trailer those in the back no uh my dad okay so I did go another place today and my dad uh called me up and he said he needed it he forgot the Finish gun um and I was down there mulching it's an orange pass load you know we got tools right inside the place there so I had to drive out the bath and give him that when I came back okay yeah it was um what's the name the address I don't know the actual numbers seven something but it's on Camry Road off of Ira out there in bed okay is that his business or something no that's where we're doing a big Edition yeah we're doing a cement party siding on there and then all right um well they're out there talking to them still trying to get a statement so hopefully a lot of girls are here no no they're not here they're I have all the down there yeah I can't believe that they would be so yeah I mean they're saying obviously you know I would I the one thing I hate in this world is Thief I'm not I'm not Thief I was helping them out as I've always done but I've come around with when I was living there on the regular I could come around the corner there and I almost would run Bob over he'd be face like you said he called me up earlier to go get a that I had to bring up the castle and finish gun and uh and that was about it did he say that uh we wanted to talk to you we the acting place no not at all thank you [Music] text you called you on the phone I mean I got a couple calls but I didn't uh that was after I went over and dropped the tool off I didn't talk to him I was busy doing a mulching down there that's where he lives it's kind of a Father's Day present form a little bit so you were supposed to meet him right uh no no no no I had a golf league tonight that's what I was actually getting ready to go do you weren't supposed to meet your dad no not at the storage unit no it wasn't that's what he told us oh no that's why he was calling you no did he uh did he meet up with you uh after he ran out of gas yeah but he actually got me some gas yeah but I mean I didn't he didn't say anything about it you guys uh well actually he just gave me 10 bucks and then uh there was I was right by that I was on the Carol and exchange apparently Market you know to get some gas and uh he's then he left so your dad did yeah yeah he left me there oh [ __ ] that would be uh I really don't know 11 maybe 12 one somewhere around there I don't know sure wasn't more like uh one or two you want a joke well like I said 11 12 1 because yeah I don't know concept of time really I had so much going on lately okay A little we had going on with it but just working with my mom my mom and sat down on a couple yogurt shops trying to work for Dad trying to make Indians meet because me and my dad hadn't been fighting very much lately but as you know we've worked together lived together for a while it's [Music] um so your storage unit up there uh up on North Hill yeah um well it's not it's your game it's my dad's yet anyway who has access to it uh me and my dad yeah and then there's uh anyone else um no because I mean yeah I don't know if you know about theft that was up there not that long ago uh this guy used to get into all the units stole all types of [ __ ] so over Tim Holzer I don't know if you know that name but not um yeah I've been me and my dad are really almost had the keys for it but yeah so that's okay well this is the last time you were there uh I was up there these are just this one or yesterday morning I can't remember which extra day it was yeah who are you getting something out no I was I was getting ready to um the ladies lived next door in the brick house she gave me uh she had she had me help her move out this big stereo thing I was gonna spray paint and sell it on uh what do you call it Facebook sell or whatever and so Olson is probably telling the truth there has never been any indication that this was a premeditated crime so his reason for being at the storage unit was perfectly innocent yeah are you aware that uh storage area they got off oh yeah yeah because of the theft yeah yeah okay uh your dad said sometimes you sleep down there uh only the only the only reason I slept in there is because I was so tired from Jake that like if this represents the floor of the unit you couldn't even walk in it as of a couple weeks ago so I was cleaning it out when I'm trying to get it functional again but yeah I crashed up there one night just as I fell asleep and I was like uh she uh lets me go in there uh the uh there's a brick house right next door to the shop and um that's the guy actually his mother who who was stealing from all the silver units yeah but she she evicted him he hasn't been around in a while so thank God I don't think that guy had a lot okay so we actually uh like we said we met your dad we met your dad at the uh at their storage unit and uh we both were standing next to him when call you uh and uh he said uh that that uh you had gotten arrived by from somebody that they were bringing you up to the storage unit that's what my dad said yeah what kind of people would you drive uh the orange Dodge Dakota any other vehicles no just that one yeah have you driven any other car in the last say a week no not around or not but you know well like I said we uh we were we were up there and we talked to your dad and you said that you were on the way you ran out of gas truck was down there yes I was going to get a are we gonna get a lift up to the gas station to get some gas for that time I said I was going up to the storage unit that's what he said that's what he said and he actually texted you all right I haven't seen my phone in a while but obviously been dealing with this so well this has been like three to four hours now well yeah it was still it just feels like it's been an intern at 11 it's going through a window to help out a neighbor even though there were police officers with his father when he was speaking to Olson on the phone Olsen still tries to deny that he was told that the police wanted him for questioning he keeps falling back on the excuse that he can't keep track of time and that his memories are all blurred together but that isn't going to be enough to get him out of trouble [Music] Monday what's today today is Wednesday uh Monday Tuesday I've been up there sporadically throughout the last week I don't know exactly which day but supposed to stay Wednesday Wednesday I felt no I think it was up there Monday no it was okay with anybody no no I mean I just pretty much wrote this up right so I mean dick I'm you know Richard lesla the guy that owns a place he comes back here once in a while to hang out uh yeah do you uh do you ever see anybody else that has storage units out there or talk to anybody uh well there's a couple Old Timers on my right I need to stands the uh these dads or his son is Black Keys you know the group yet and then uh sometimes I see the people across from us they're reporters they got all types of oh my gosh it's to the brink I thought our shop was bad and then Jacob Leslie and I you know when's the last time you saw them uh I don't know it was three four days ago something like that five days I literally my days have been running together so much as I've been freaking going crazy oh yeah that's um yeah that's Dave and [Music] was a healthy and energetic older woman who enjoyed zip lining going on cruises and playing Pokemon go while some would have thought she would be an easy target given her age wolfarth would have had the strength to fight back if she saw the attack coming uh I don't know it's what the letter is I have no idea it is [Music] possibly on the in the middle building yeah what was last time you saw her uh for probably Saturday Sunday like that I was up there doing some stuff Running Shop uh what about Monday uh I don't think it was in there Monday it really died I think it was up there Monday I think it was I know I was there over the weekend well like like I told you there's another city yeah and we watch videos yeah you watched yeah did you talk to her at all no um yeah it was she she actually tried to knock on my door one night she said I was sleeping up there I fell asleep or something she gave me a fan if I was hot or something so I hadn't talked to her before yet milfarth was a friendly woman who often helped people although Olsen tries to downplay their interactions he and wolfarth were at least friendly acquaintances in most crimes such as this the attacker is usually someone that the victim knows only told us you guys you guys were here dude no look at her no I mean I mean God doesn't make jump but no I wasn't dating are you kidding me a little bit all your age friends yes yes and and trust me after my last relationship I'm not even looking for any type of girl or I don't ever have any sexual relations with her no absolutely not oh my gosh why am I even ask this so I said that you guys were dating now no we're not dating I'm like gosh who said that I forget who it was but oh my God that's ridiculous man no I'm not dating this woman well my video shows that you were talking to her Monday so well yeah I told you my days were all yeah I'd love to your storage units or sort of like that you were gone and then now yeah loved humans yeah was that was I in her unit uh no it was right outside the door I mean a man might have mentioned in there I could look at a couple stuff and she was right there so yeah yeah okay uh have you ever been in her unit not like not before that no okay but you Monday you did not go in there oh I'm just uh Tony I mean I really don't know I was standing there I was talking she cleaned out my uh uh what do you call a job back and I just I just I'm bad on the timeline of the dates I really don't know so what I've never was actually like I mean maybe right inside the door but all the way in the back no I've never been there you can't even this is a freaking wall of stuff you can't get through there I guess you haven't been in your your unit uh just uh she brought me she busted off the shop vac and you know I wanted her to see because everyone that drove by I saw how disgusting it was I was like hey look look she's doing a lot better yeah so whatever DNA be in your storage unit no not at all wolfforth's body was discovered in Olson's storage unit hours after her family reported her missing mom why would her DNA the reason I think we're asking about first because the family made a report I haven't seen in a couple of days [Music] no she was if anything she stepped right inside my unit and gave me the and she blew off the filter for my shop act that I was using this is ridiculous okay so on Monday her sister got a phone call for her actually a message left on her machine saying Katie was telling her she has this handyman named Jim Olsen oh yeah her sister in Pennsylvania yeah yeah I was going to do a little road to work trip for her but yeah remember having that conversation yeah yeah I don't know if it was I mean like I said it could have been Monday or just Wednesday thanks sometimes I'll go like I'll say hey uh yeah it is I've been about seven minutes or so and that wasn't like it was like seven minutes ago it was like a week ago or that so my timeline gets [ __ ] up every once in a while and people are like dude that's you're an idiot oh yes sorry let me ask you something that's totally unplug it and it doesn't matter if you uh you you hooked on anything we've got music oh I smoked weed every once in a while but it gives me it gives me a little bit of over the energy something else a bag of crystal meth was found during Olsen's arrest a drug that Olson's father believes caused Olsen to commit an act that was completely out of his character um so you saw her Monday or set or sometime in the last couple days yeah last couple days yeah because she's been missing for a couple days so we've been trying to find her uh do you have any idea where she might be did she talked about where she was going no idea she did not see where she was going no no again there's video and the one it was this was Monday it shows you moving her van no yeah no I wasn't doing it yeah I mean video doesn't lie can you explain that no I can't move in the video remember the videos all right he drove out [Music] do you know why we found any blood in her unit pardon me well we found blood in Turkey blood in that unit yeah do you have any cuts from when you were I've got it like I mean look I've got I've got tons of cuts all over they're always working construction here that's what I do Michael uh I mean we've been working on this for a couple hours [Music] um we got a pretty far along in the investigation it was gonna be a time when there's going to be a narrative given of what happened okay so usually I tell people that you know you want me to pull the narrative you don't want me to give the narrative myself okay um we find evidence uh you know different things hair blood different objects and you know we can kind of piece together what happened so sometimes people [ __ ] up you know they do something they get themselves in a predicament they get worried uh I mean something happened on accident you get scared uh they try to cover it up they don't want to you know try to explain and we'll Now's the Time To Explain what happened at the pushed in Monday a lot of blood and here Olson is trying to act as if he is shocked by what they have found but between forensics and the video of him speaking to wolfarth and driving her van there isn't much he can say in his defense [Music] uh I think you said it was about three or four days ago well three or four days two three days I like I said I don't know how much time left we found lots of blood in your store again we found sticks instruments with a lot of blood I don't [ __ ] way the cause of wolf Art's death was blunt force trauma to the head and neck you just said that the people that have access to your unit but somebody like if you ever look up in this office that [ __ ] Tim he's trying yeah I don't think that's a lot we have video of you talking to people you haven't talked to Katie before talking to her on Monday driving her van away from Keys her keys were found in your dance basement today no how did Tim get out there and plant that Jim [ __ ] leave some [ __ ] uh you know that's not the narrative you want to try to deal with yeah that's that's not going to work for you buddy something bad happened to Katie you know it you know what happened it's like Sergeant Marquette as give me the opportunity to give us your narrative [Music] what happened oh man [Music] I wish you wouldn't give me some money she wouldn't give you a job with we have uh yeah mistakes [Applause] I mean it's probably gonna help you out I mean you can't you can't feel good holding this end I just tell us what my snapped man I snapped I just about something somebody came over me I don't know what what makes you my ex-girlfriend dude she it was a downfall it's not a like essentially I want the whole new gun to me either by her ex-girlfriend but she made me a different person because I heard her toxic narcissistic race I was mentally verbally emotionally abused I don't know just a snapped in case you said something about my freaking experiment I don't know you know what well yeah tell us what happened I mean do you know that and I think you're just getting really hard to say it was just like hold this this is your narrative this is your chance to say for your story yeah are you just a cold-blooded no a homicidal maniac not at all the moment us snaps so take us through it man yeah went over there I hit her on the head that was it yes like a metal pipe a longing stick actually a piece of I don't even see like a piece of the fireplace stick of being one of those broken I don't know what I just I just saw there grounded and I was so [ __ ] snapped it hurt her unit or so I didn't know no man I just I don't know I'll just try to get rid of the evidence but let's see what I ended up because I think about those [ __ ] cameras where's the van security cameras are everywhere and most people have gotten so used to their presence that they forget that almost every action is being recorded even though Olson tried to cover his tracks it was already too late [Music] [Music] you know it was dumb I shouldn't have never done it obviously we're going to jail for the rest of my life but it's a snap man I've been so emotionally invertently used you have no idea I got a mother that [ __ ] you know staying with I'm 35 years old so there's my narrative a little bit can you explain why her clothes got ripped sorry I'm not making a lot of stuff up I mean it's just yeah it's just I I'm having a hard time so then when you went back to the van and moved it to the hood yeah yeah because I was trying to get it so I mean somebody obviously as soon as you could live board right next to the office would be pretty pretty close and what about her cell phone [Music] it was I think in the car or you trained for something no no I did not treated that I don't pawn stuff like that I earned my money not yourself one was an Android anyway with my [ __ ] and plus I've never been to a pawn shop really in my life maybe one time down West Virginia that was when I was like 22 or 23 so where do we go from here hello I mean you know you're going to get arrested he's ever been to get a bond to get an attorney yeah I actually could use a type of Martin movie was my attorney for the video thing maybe well the only certain attorneys to represent I mean I mean in the long it came off the [ __ ] story and he married the judge and asked for something you could ask the family person for doing this and uh although Olsen is confessed to murdering an innocent woman who was helping him he still believes he is a good person and seems almost resentful of the fact that he will have to serve time in prison yeah I don't want to die because I can't do good works I have been a good person my whole life I just I snatched because people have been riding my ass you were talking to her would you say that it reminds you of your girlfriend you're kind of talking about her a little bit and she said that maybe maybe you did this too or whatever so she was blaming you and I never get a [ __ ] thing to that next girlfriend of mine I treated like a [ __ ] Queen so you said you just saw something laying there you can think of [Music] um I mean you know I'm sorry do you have any other questions I mean you can ask me but not that I can think of I think we're pretty much you got your confession I got a confession well I like I told you man I don't think we knew enough it's just something new for your neighborhood well I just I I'm sorry I'm sorry I should have never done that I just for some reason that snaps and uh I don't think he said helps you getting it off your chest does it make you look like a cold blooded killer I'm not although I'm not I mean this is one stupid thing that I'll never be able to live down but okay all right I don't handle again so let's shake your hands I don't think you want that so um all right before we get into town we'll try to get you him and the interview is concluded [Music] in order to avoid the death penalty Michael Olson pleaded guilty to aggravated murder rape gross abuse of a corpse grand theft of a motor vehicle and trespass in a habitation the family of Mary Kay wolforth believes that Olson should have been put to death for his crimes but they signed off on the plea agreement to avoid a lengthy Capital trial and
