Yes, that is military police coming in code 3 squeal and tires for me. You're probably wondering how I ended up with five GTA stars and the military coming after me. [music] >> Well, it all started when my daughter and I decided to take a little road trip and go camping in Sierra Vista, Arizona. To be honest, we were killing two birds with one stone. and there was some suspicious police activity in the area that we needed to investigate and we decided to make a camping trip of it. We camped out by the San Pedro River about 10 minutes outside of Sierra Vista, Arizona. We did typical tourist stuff like taking videos and pictures. We did typical investigator stuff [music] such as questioning combative and argumentative suspects. Since the entire town of Sierra Vista is built on the [music] army base, Fort Wuka, I went to get some B-roll footage of the signs as well as [music] the beautiful mountain range in the background. I was only there for a couple minutes when this happened. [snorts] Sorry about the horrible footage at the beginning, but as soon as I heard the sirens chirp and the tires squeal and realized they were coming after me. I was completely focused on my cell phone and trying to make sure I went live on YouTube so that if they kidnapped me, everyone would see it live. After getting live, I fixed the camera angle. I also misspoke multiple times saying I was doing a video on Sawarita Police Department. I meant Sierra Vista Police Department. >> Hey, >> how you doing, sir? >> Just getting B-roll of the intersection >> for what? >> For a story about Sawarita Police Department. Okay, >> that's it. Nothing. >> Are you recording the installation? >> We're taking photos that direction. >> No, just the mountains. >> Just the mountains? >> Yeah, just the mountains and the and the traffic in the intersection. >> Recording towards the installation, sir. >> On the public sidewalk, even >> that right there is a security issue. So, if you were to film it from here, you're still going to get in trouble for it. >> Seriously? >> Yeah. Because that's a that's a vital area of the installation. >> Just this open area in the public intersection. >> You're showing the entire installation, right? You could be coming over here and showing the the entrance to our installation. That's a five installation part. >> Yeah. >> And it's a United States code as well. I think it's 18795, I believe. >> Okay. Um, so I can't record B. Man, you rolled up fast. You scared me. >> I thought I thought you were going after like a murderer or something. The way you pulled up. Was that you or him? >> That was me. Yeah, cuz I didn't realize the turn was right here. So, I was like, "Oh, crap." >> I was like, "Dude, a murder just happened. Like, police are coming in hard." There's uh there's been recent uh >> how do I say this? I guess you could say threats to the installation. >> Okay. Okay. Yeah, I'm no I'm no threat, man. I'm getting B-roll footage. I'm doing a story. >> Know if you are or aren't, right? >> No. Yeah. >> Word is taken accordingly. >> So, I'm doing a story about this uh officer with Sawita Police Department. I'm trying to remember his name right now. Um B Materang. Matarang, I believe. >> Okay. >> Um that troop. >> No, he's with Sawarita. So, I'm just getting B-roll of the area. got us some stuff over at >> Sabarito is like 50 miles out. >> Saw I'm sorry, not Sawita. Um Yeah, I do. Sierra Vista, >> I apologize, man. >> Vista. >> Yeah. Uh Materang. So, I was over at the the police department yesterday doing records requests and then Yeah, I'm just doing B-roll over here to uh so the what I was told is so we're doing the a whole story. So, we're trying to do a story about the whole area, Sierra Vista. And if I'm not mistaken, Fort Sierra Vista is basically built on Fort Wuka. That's I mean that's kind of what I what I gathered in my investigation. >> The uh late 1800s for Wuka was here first. >> Okay. >> Um it was actually I want to say started from the Buffalo soldiers, [clears throat] >> but I don't want to steal you wrong. I don't want to give false information, but uh they were essentially the first settlers over here to to combat the uh the Mexicans that were invading on like the ranches and whatnot. So, um yeah, it was first the installation. obviously wasn't what it is now, but and then Sierra just accumulated. >> Okay. Uh yeah, that's what And I was talking to them over at city hall yesterday and um they were saying, "Yeah, a good majority of the population here is military or military contractors." She was telling me they got some new uh contracts coming up with the city, I believe, uh for some >> Yeah. So that that's it, bro. Just I'm sorry it's noisy over here. Do you want to come over here? If you can do me a favor though, stop recording because you are facing the installation. >> Stop recording that direction. >> Yes, that direction. >> Okay, >> you can record that channel. >> Record the installation entrance. >> Okay, >> I understand that you might trying to be getting uh B-roll towards the mountains and whatnot. >> Yeah, that's the >> Don't point towards the uh >> installation entrance. >> Did you know Google did it? >> Did what? >> Filmed towards that direction. It's all over the internet. >> They have like a Okay. Yeah, it's I I'll go over this way then. I mean, I don't want you guys to like violently attack me or something. >> Oh, no. There's no reason to do that. >> Okay, cool. Well, there was no reason to violently attack me for videoing at that same intersection in 2017 either, but that didn't stop them. They even slapped four federal charges on me, which were completely dismissed two years later. Yeah, I'll go over this way so we can point the camera every which way without wording. But you're saying on this public intersection right here, I'm like I feel like threatened with violence that if I point a camera in a certain direction on the public intersection that you might violently attack me or something. Uh cuz you seem like kind of a >> You're not even on your base either and you're out here like barking orders and stuff like the line of demarcation is way up there, right? >> Yeah. So I suggest you go back to your base, you know? and uh take care of your base and leave, you know, leave the free public area free in public. You know what I mean? I mean, not you. You seem chill. >> But this guy, >> cool. >> Yeah. I mean, you're telling me I can't point a camera in a direction in a public area like >> towards that? Yes. >> Towards the mountain. >> The mountains are fine. Like filming at the mountain. >> I'll tell you a secret. I already beat this case in 2017 on that corner. >> On that corner? >> Yep. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Head back to your base, man. Thank you. Hey, don't ever come out here and tell people that they can't point a camera at that uh installation again, okay? Don't ever tell anyone that again, okay? Because we can point a camera over there from a public area. Do you understand? Go back to your base. Hey, I'm sorry, man. I I I really do apologize. I just came to shoot some B-roll. No, I we're doing a a video or I'm sorry, a story on Officer Matarang. >> Sure. You're familiar with him? >> Yeah. He's been in a lot of trouble over the last year and he's still with the department. So, I was literally just shooting some B-roll >> because Fort Wuka is a huge It's like Sierra Vista is built on Fort Wuka, right? >> Yeah. It's It's a big historic part of this. >> Exactly. >> So, anything that I can do for you or anything? >> Um, yeah. No, I think you're good. You told >> reason I'm here is because they called us out here. >> Cool. I Well, I appreciate you coming cuz this one right here really wanted to tell me that I can't point the camera in that direction over there. >> I see. And I just, you know, >> you know, I appreciate you chilling them out and telling them to go home. >> Yeah. No, I mean, they're gonna go back, do do their business on post. Um, I'm just making sure that you don't need anything from us. >> No, I And then other than that, then I'll be on my way. >> No, appreciate you telling them to screw off, man. Appreciate you, brother. >> Good day. Okay. >> All right. You, too. >> I can So, I can shoot B-roll of the of the gate over there, right? >> So, listen. Right now, you're on you're on public property. >> Yeah. There there there's no crime with you taking video of whatever is within eyesight of you standing somewhere where it's public. >> Yeah. >> Um I'm not going to mess with you about it. You're not doing anything wrong. You're on the sidewalk behind the road. >> No reason for me to be >> You told them that too that I can keep shooting B-roll of the mountains in that direction and stuff. >> No, they they basically just said they were just they were going to go back to post. So >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I let them do >> I was about to wrap up in about 30 seconds when they rolled up anyways. But I just wanted to make sure in the future I mean this is a huge I mean this this is what CR Vista is. So I just find it absolutely bizarre that I would shoot B-roll of the front of the army base. >> Were you on this side though? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> And even if I were on that side, it's still a public sidewalk and their line of demarcation is way up there. Okay. >> You know, so >> I get where you're coming from, man. That's I I showed up at as >> part of their [clears throat] request. >> Cool. >> Um but now knowing that you're [snorts] good. >> Good. I don't have any reason to be here. So, I'm going to go back. >> I just would like if you were if you guys could let them know not to do this to people >> cuz I I can't imagine that there's not a whole bunch of people who come through here and shoot video. Especially like this is especially at sunset. This is the perfect shot, dude. >> The the mountains, the Fort Wuka signs. M >> like this is I'm here at the wrong time of day, but in the afternoon this is like a cinematic gold mine right here with the the military base in the mountains and the sunset going over. It's just beautiful. >> I get it. >> So everything should be >> Hey, what's up, brother? James, >> Jim and James. All right. >> And uh they were just concerned about pointing his camera that direction. I don't see him doing anything wrong. So be about my way. Now the uh post gets a little >> I I get them get >> about pictures being taken of entry control points and things. >> Okay. I I kind of get it at the same time. I was telling him like this is a cinematic gold mine and this time of day not as much but this is when I was here so this is when I got to do it. Um but we were shooting for but I just can't believe that they I I imagine they would do that to any any photographer like especially at sunset. I was telling the sun over the mountains it I mean it's just >> you have to reach out to like their public affairs or whatever to you know have a conversation with them what their policies are and whatever. >> Sure. >> But I I would think their policy would be to stay on base instead of running out into Sierra Vista and barking orders with guns on them. You know what I mean? [laughter] >> But I get where it's coming from. >> Check this out. If you go to Google Maps, here is the corner that I was standing on [laughter] right here. And here is the gate at Fort Wuka. And as you can see, not only did the Google car get pictures from back there where I was at, looks like that's as far as the Google car went. Besides that, hundreds, possibly thousands of cars go through these gates every day. Many of them with dash cams, Teslas with cameras all around. Fort Wuka is known as the central hub for army intelligence in the United States. The irony is that you don't have to have any intelligence at all to work there. If you can do me a favor though, stop recording because you are facing the installation. >> Stop recording that direction. >> Yes, that direction. >> And seriously, the sunsets in southern Arizona are incredible. We did have to leave, so I didn't get any shots of the sunset over that particular mountain range, but I snagged some shots on the drive home. [music]
