I'm Deputy Bren with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office on Friday April 14th around 6 PM Pinellas County deputies observed a Honda Civic traveling Southbound on McMullen Booth Road near Enterprise Road in Safety Harbor Deputy Pereira who is heading into work observed the vehicles driving to be erratic Deputy Pereira attempted to stop the vehicle but the vehicle continued traveling Southbound at times while failing to stop the vehicle completely left the paved roadway driving into the grass on the side of the road struck the center median driving over the median and began traveling southbound in the Northbound Lanes of travel the vehicle also struck a sign fearful the driver may cause a serious crash and to prevent him from hurting or killing anyone Deputy Pereira used a pit maneuver to stop the vehicle contact was made with the driver who is practically unresponsive and had to be removed from the vehicle and placed on the ground [Music] [Applause] the driver was transported to the hospital for evaluation and was later charged with DUI possession of Fentanyl and possession of marijuana thanks to Deputy pereira's quick actions an impaired driver was removed from the roadway
