I'm Sergeant Bozarth with the Emergency Response Unit. We're out here today training our High Water Response Team. We’re doing our quarterly training, preparing for any emergency that may pop up specific to high water rescues, whether it's flooding areas, hurricanes that come through, tropical storms... In 2024, there was a county-wide need for additional resources specific to shallow water. So we purchased WaveRunners along with 16ft Jon boats that we can get into some of these shallower waters, mobile home parks, apartment complexes that may be flooded and then through the flooded roads. We're learning anything from basic operation of the vessel to rescue techniques, pulling people into the boat, assisting them into the boats. In the afternoon, we are going to conduct training using our new SARCOP app that helps us track where they've been and then quickly document actions they may have taken, whether it's just searched a house that was already empty or evacuated folks out of a house that's flooded.
