september 16th 2020 10 21 pm moriarty new mexico myself and bow are traveling down the road when we spot this suspicious activity we pull over and go to investigate hey what's up guys we are somewhere in the state of new mexico didn't have time to grab my flashlight got a body cam with night vision going it's pretty dang dark out here though and it's pretty chilly looks like a pretty main highway with a 40 mile an hour speed limit where most people are doing at least 55 because it's reasonable and prudent how's it going man what do you get you for light like no headlights are burning out headlight or what one burned out you know what city it is yeah what is it morty arty moriarty got it moriarty police yeah yeah just documenting are they pretty decent out here yeah i've been in albuquerque but not out here much i haven't had enough experience yet in either really where's your mask boy in new mexico is crazy about masks but uh again i guess it's a city police officer moriarty he says but it's it's gonna be a small city for sure um and uh out in the country you know people aren't stupid they don't do the masks you know they're not [ __ ] out in the country so okay i'm just going to apologize ahead of time that there was no good camera shots when he came and talked to me but the audio is gold i'll say uh new mexico police have been amazing compared to any of the arizona cops we've dealt with we haven't had any problems with new mexico police i think he's gonna i think he's gonna come over and chat yeah i don't have my flashlight you're fine i'm not too worried about that that's actually what i was gonna tell you about now if you don't mind when you're doing that get some something that's a little bit more reflective okay yeah safety okay yeah no problem and also in the future if you don't mind is there any way you guys can maybe pull up in front of us i mean it's not that we mind you guys recording at all uh-huh but if we actually if we have to turn our back to you uh-huh it just kind of puts up that a little bit higher is it an order or are you just asking me i'm asking you if you're asking me you know we'll work with you i'll be out here a lot so you know if you're going to be if you're going to be decent with me no i'm not i have no reason to make your life any harder than it has to be trust me yeah first of all the reflective part that's entirely for you man just because if you're getting out here at night yeah i've been doing this a long time so i've actually got a yellow work vest with the reflective tape on it we actually saw you pull them over though we didn't have anything we've usually got big old flashlights you know reflective uh i do this all the time yeah so i do this all the time so i've got a lot of equipment that we usually use but yeah we ended up you caught us off guard there we weren't actually ready to to shoot a video and we saw you pull somebody over the reflective vest is entirely because of you for you guys oh yeah for sure it just helps you guys you know where's yours because you don't want to get help you don't want to get hit by a car or anything like that where's yours i have one in the car but at least you can pass out or something okay and then in the future if you guys can like i said i can't make you guys do it but if you guys can when it's possible obviously it's not it's not going to be possible all the time but if you can't get up in front of us because so how do you feel about when you pull somebody over me just literally pulling up in front of you on the side of the road as opposed to parking over there and coming up behind you i mean as long as you have enough space me personally i mean i know it's legal but you know sometimes sometimes cops give us crap oh you're too close to my stop okay you know well that's what i'm saying as long as you give me a little bit of room i'm not gonna personally me this is just my opinion i'm not going to give you a hard time about it um what's your name man i'm sorry what's your name sure f-h-h s-a-h-h oh sho okay right on okay um what else are you what else are you gonna be working on tonight what else am i gonna be working on yeah uh it just kinda depends then whatever whatever the night drinks more or less okay are you doing traffic all night or uh well we do traffic just as part of our regular duties obviously if we get a call we got to go answer the call okay and then once you're done with that you you know go back to patrolling and looking for traffic violations so on and so forth okay all right um what's uh i haven't been in the area that much how's that i heard there's a lot of drug trafficking in the area you know anything about that there's a fair amount okay i heard that uh a lot of the officers out here i don't know if there's police or the sheriff that they're they're saying we're doing it but we we heard that the cops out here were doing a lot of drug trafficking can you tell me anything about that the cops were out here yeah yeah that they're the ones actually kind of you know like out of mexico you know you got the the the uh um the drug lords out there right basically i was told that the cops in this area are the drug boards you know what experience i don't know anything about that man okay don't know anything about it no um marijuana and stuff is legal out here right oh i know it's not legal no no not at all in new mexico or marijuana is illegal in in new mexico okay do you have any on you do i have any on me yeah no i don't okay uh any crack any cocaine anything okay no uh no pills nope no not even prescription pills on you no okay i take multivitamin every day that's about it okay do you know how money are they in the vehicle no okay um would you mind letting us see or inside the vehicle yeah just to make sure you know like i said you know we're just we're just trying to do our job and make sure everybody's safe make sure that you know our kids aren't getting drugs and like i said you're wearing the same kind of costume that the guys who have been peddling the drugs is wearing and so you know if we could take a quick look in the vehicle that would uh just put our mind at ease that we know that you're not the guy that we're looking for well i can tell you i'm not but i'm not i'm going to go ahead and not let you look inside my car man that's just my preference something to hide or no okay it just seems odd to me that you wouldn't cooperate with it you know okay exactly nothing against you personally yeah no yeah it just seems odd i mean most of the most of the folks you know when i let them know i'm just trying to keep the kids safe keep the streets safe they're willing to cooperate we appreciate that yeah usually when they're when you know folks aren't willing to cooperate it usually you know raises my spidey senses it just you know raises my awareness and i'm just going all right well what what is this guy got to hide right nothing to hide yeah but i'm not gonna take up any more your time all right man i'm gonna go and get going yeah you guys have a good night okay yeah um uh can i get a card from you sure yeah yeah that way i can know why you wouldn't want me to be able to see in the car here's my car okay as far as what do you mean like looking inside the car yeah that's just tinted windows man that's the way it comes yeah can we shine the light in there like i said man i just really you know the whole thing about drugs being peddled around here and you not wanting me to see inside of the car is i mean it's it's really suspicious you understand what i mean right well you can that's your opinion okay um we're gonna go ahead and call the dog out here and run them around your car and see if the dog hits on your vehicle um is that is that going to be okay no we get because i do need to get going okay difficult so you don't even want the dog to sniff your car nope i mean you said there's nothing in there there is nothing it wouldn't matter then right the dog's not gonna hit on it it wouldn't matter but i'm not gonna waste time with this one okay okay okay yeah i'll just let everybody in the area know too then next time yeah somebody asks you know can the dog sniff the car they're free to leave then right when when we're stopping there well i mean humans are human right it doesn't matter who's stopping you
