Hello, I'm Sergeant Ephra Cornneo of the Milwaukee Police Department. Recently, we have seen an increase of individuals engaging in a dangerous trend called street takeovers. A street takeover is an event where a group of individuals gather using motor vehicles to engage in reckless and dangerous behavior that includes driving recklessly, racing, lighting off fireworks, and sometimes even shooting firearms. Organizers and attendees block whole intersections so that spectators can watch vehicles race or drive recklessly, posing risk to the public. This behavior is unacceptable. We are asking everyone to be part of the solution to make our street safer and report these dangerous acts. If you have any information of these pre-planned street takeovers, we are asking you to please contact the Milwaukee Police Department at milwaukee.gov or the P3 TIPS app. If you observe a street takeover, please call 911 to report it. Together we are better.
