Early one morning, the police were called out to a business in Conjur, Georgia for a vehicle break-in that had occurred the day prior. After reviewing the surveillance footage, officers learned that there were two men who were working nearby driving a backhoe. And one of the men walked over on a break and broke into a Dodge Challenger and stole a change jar that had nearly $200 in it. Police contacted this guy's company and learned that their suspect was 25-year-old Kan Griffin. So investigators set up shop and they waited for Akijan and his boss to return to the area for work so they could talk to him. Nice. So here's the gist. Dude, buddy Parks here. Okay. He's doing his thing. He's He's obviously got a day labor, so he's he's 1099 this guy, right? >> You know, all right. I need some help. 1099 this guy. I don't know you, but you want some work? Here you go. Gets out. Everybody's kind of looking around. He's down that way on the Bobcat >> working in the woods. >> So, he's kind of like, "All right, all right. Walk over here. Oh, look. Challenger right here." Walks up now looking around. I mean, you can kind of see there's a camera right there. I mean, it's right there. Literally walks up. >> By the way, you can show Cesley. I did such a So, um, >> flip it or punch it. >> No, he walked up. Oh, no. >> Rder's edge. >> Yeah, >> I know. I can't get nothing. It's all been smudged. I got one. >> Okay. >> So, it pops just open. It just opens it cuz she left it a lock box. So, it gets in. So, at 12:29, something like that. I got it written down. 12:29. >> He sits down in there for a good minute. Literally a minute. Because there's a change jar in the back. >> Okay. >> I got the change jar. It's getting dropped in Ev. See if she can >> do her thing. So, goes in there. He's messing with he pops it off cuz she gorilla glued the top. She's like, "Ain't nobody getting my money." About $700 worth of change. Big old pickle jar. >> Yeah. >> You see him get out. He's got a bag. It's her drawstring bag. It's like green drawstring bag. He walks back behind there. I can't find the bag. Unless y'all want to sit here and try to look. I've been looking been trying to see if I can canvas and get the baguh. >> So, he walks back there >> like he walks like right behind this >> Yeah. >> truck and it goes back. I've been looking. It's hard. It's green. So, >> okay. >> Um >> Yeah. Okay. Um >> Yeah. >> So, >> when's that boy schedu come to work? >> So, basically, the guy showed up here yesterday with the guy around 11:30. >> Okay. They say it's in between 9:30 and 11. It could be 11:30. So that's why I said if y'all want to just pop a squat, >> but they said they'll call us if you when they show up. >> No, we we'll this this is good. We'll we'll take a canvas. Look for the green bag. You got the video and stuff? >> Yeah, I already downloaded it. >> All right. You got the video and stuff? >> They gave me a USB, so I was able to get down. >> I'll put my car right here next to the F-150. It blends in. And then we'll walk around, look for the campus, and then, you know, if something pops out, we got to go, we got to go. But if >> So what does the guy look like on the video? Uh, so the guy that's in the video is black male, slender, about pits height, dreads. >> Okay. >> Can't really tell much. He did have gloves on after I found out the fact he had gloves on. >> So the guy that brings him here, >> what does he drive? >> Uh, F-150 older model. It's got a It's white and it's got the black hard top like the little f one back. >> Talking when we talk older model, >> we're talking like 2009. Listen. See, we talking our growing up grade or your growing up. >> Look, we're not that much much difference. All right. I'm going to need you to slow it down. >> So, F150. >> Wide F150. It's got the silver bush guard in the front. >> Oh, yeah. Okay. >> So, it's going to stick out. >> 2000s with a wrap on. Okay. >> Yeah. So, it's got the bush guard and it's got the black. So, you'll see. >> So, what does this guy do that? So, it's not the guy driving the F150. It's just it's a helper. >> Okay. And then who's the who's the driver? >> The driver is looks to be an older black male. >> Sports. >> Has a hat. Yeah. And he just gets out. I think this is Bobcat cuz he's riding up and down. >> So the one who's quitting the car is not the one driving the >> No, that's his being. >> He's unreal. He's Yeah. >> Okay. >> Now they pick up a bag from the woodline, but it's not my bag. My little bag's like a little bag. >> Yeah. So I'm just looking for like a little cam please. >> Yeah, that guy. >> All right. Um Yeah, we'll hang out. >> He's got gloves on. I took it anyway just to see. Maybe if he took his gloves off to pop the thing open. You never know. >> No, we will uh we'll hang out. This should be a good adventure for detective. >> Yeah, >> he's got the Ray-B bands on. He's he's ready for it. >> Kjan Griffin and his boss returned to the work area and investigators tried to talk to him. Kan saw the officers and he got scared and he ran away. The officers on scene chased him for a minute and then they called it in and multiple officers arrived to the area and created a perimeter and they began searching for him. As officers are searching for Kijon, a funeral home minivan just flies out of the parking lot with this rear door still open which catches the attention of this officer who finds it suspicious and he immediately begins chasing them. >> 53266. I want Mill. I'm going up and down. 10439. If you're in this direction, go down G's Mill. Um 532 539. I've got him. 1080. Radio is going to be in a white van. He's heading Sigman towards Salem Road. It's going to have a hatch open. Looks like you just stole the vehicle. I'm in pursuit. [Music] >> Radio speeds are about 80. He just went through Old Coington. Continuing about 80 milesPH. >> Radio, he's going up the wrong way up Salem Road. He's about to cause an accident. Get Rockdale also to cut down Salem and Flatsholes. Move. Five. I've lost contact with him. [Music] 32. I believe he's still continuing down Salem Road. Unsure at this moment. 532 590. He could have gone down I20. I couldn't. I lost him. car pulled out in front of me. >> This officer loses sight of the van. So, he returns back to the funeral home where he actually discovered that the van had a deceased body in the back of it on a gurnie that rolled out of the back of the van when the suspect sped off. >> He's going to be at a higher rate of speed. It's going to be a white work van. Well, >> I'm unmarify. I'm going to leave you quickly. 33. I'm coming up to you. [Music] 539. Where's your regular travel? >> I 20 westbound. I'm coming up to 138 now. Don't have visual after he went around this corner. You ready? We're going down west. He's going down on 520 at a high speed with the back door open on West Avenue. >> 390. I'm coming up to West Avenue. [Music] [Music] 139. I'm going behind y'all. I'm passing 138 temple. Right now I have visual of him. He's just now going under the West Avenue Bridge. He's in the middle lane. >> I'm solo at this moment. >> Rockville backed out of it. I'm trying to catch up with you. >> Visual plastic car now [Music] 39 ready. He's coming up to Sigman Road. He's about three vehicles in front of me. I'm at a speeds of 120. Uh traffic conditions are medium. 1039. 104. He just went into the right lane. 1012. [Music] He's going to be in the left fast lane. I 20 west. We're coming up a half mile from Second Road. [Music] 39 radio I'm behind him now [Music] [Music] 64 charge as long as call 770 >> and then I'm sure there's a charge involving these body. [Music] I'm calling in. We're coming up. Turn the hill now. ain't clear. Let me know. >> 10 radio clear. I'm calling. >> I have you, sir. >> All right. We're We just passed under the uh We're coming up to Evans Mill. We're one mile from Evans Mill. >> All clear. We're coming up. >> We're coming up to Evans Mill. He just shot over like he's getting off on Evans Mill. [Music] >> Be advised. [Applause] He's continued past Evans Mill. >> Say that again. >> Evansville. >> Yeah, he just um he passed it. We're continuing. I heard that you can pay >> temple. You >> heard me? >> Yeah, I did. Can Can you hear me good? >> I can hear you. >> Okay. >> I can't hear you on the radio, but I can hear you on the phone. So, just tell me what you're doing on the phone, and I'll tell you. >> 10 4. I'll let you know what exit we're coming up to. Speed's at about 130 right now. >> 130. catching up to the vehicle. >> Is GSP cleared? Cuz we're about to go in their territory. SPS is clear and route. [Music] [Music] Yeah. Where you at? >> Um coming up to exit 71. He might have Oh, he's riding the He's riding the far left emergency lane. The little the little narrow ones. >> Okay. >> What's your location? >> Uh we're still coming up on 71. We're stuck in heavy traffic right now. >> They're stuck in heavy traffic coming up on Okay. APD has an air unit in the area. >> Okay. >> You advise them that hatch is open on it? >> Yes. >> Yep. Okay. I got visual now. >> You still riding this left lane? >> Yep. Um, JSP is at Polola waiting on you. >> 10 4. >> He just crossed over. >> Cross over. >> Nope. He's back in the emergency lane. >> They're stuck in heavy traffic right before the vehicle in the hallway against me while trying to >> He might be getting off on here. Uh, let me see. Let's see. Let me see. No, I don't think so. >> Yeah, he's still passing. I got visual. He's in the far right lane. Now in the right lane getting ready to pass. >> We just passed. >> I don't see [ __ ] >> It looks like the cab might be getting involved. >> Yeah, I'm behind the the CAPD unit right now. No, >> he just shot over in the right lane and the merch lane. He might have 41. Hold on. No, he didn't. He's still rolling. [Music] at now. >> Uh, I'm trying to look for this exit. I'm coming up on a exit sign. I'll tell you what number it is. >> 68. >> 98 coming up. Yeah. I believe this subject's on hit multiple vehicles. >> I believe so because there's a radio. I think we're we got the vehicle. Just before Wesley Chapel at stopped. I don't know if he in the woods. I got multiple GSPs out with me. Check what GSP I'm getting now. >> What's up? >> I don't know. This hatch was open trying to get away from us. Where was the body fall out at? >> I don't know. Back there at Conjurs. >> I don't see I didn't see or out. doors. Hey, 1080, bro. On foot. When we rolled up, door was shut. radio, you there? >> I'm here. >> Okay. I uh got one, two, two GSPs out with me and the cab uh one to cab with me. >> I'm going to be out of my vehicle. Um he 1080ed on foot into the woodline. GSPs, I believe, trying to work out a perimeter to get to this guy or figure out where he went. When we rolled up, bro, just like that. But he done hit multiple damn cars the whole way. I'm sure he did. I passed one with a wind uh mirror hanging off this this trailer back here. >> Whales all busted on it. [Music] >> Talk to Slate real quick. [Music] >> Hey, this is a car jacket, correct? No. [Music] >> Really? >> Oh, >> yeah. He dropped the dead body. When I saw him coming out, that's when I called 1080. Come out with it. >> Kan Griffin fled into the woods and somehow managed to get away. Immediately following this interstate chase. Detectives obtained warrants that were issued for his arrest and a manhunt got underway. And a suspect search is underway after a really unusual crime. Walk with me on this one. Coner police say a man stole a mortterary van and led them on a chase. At one point, a body slid out the back. This was a scene yesterday as officers tried to track down that driver. Police say funeral home workers they were trying to unload the body when the man hopped in and took off. Police say they chased him from Conjurs to Dicap County. Officers say that person hit multiple cars during the chase, even blew a tire on the van, jumped out, then took off running into the woods between Polola Road and Wesley Chapel Road. Throughout the night, police searched Kijan's home and they searched his family members' homes with no sign of Kijan anywhere. Because of the heavy pressure that police put on Kjan and because of his family doing the right thing, it led to Kijan Griffin turning himself into police the very next day. You >> go. Okay. >> Who you Who you waiting on? >> I'm waiting on one of these to decide they want to work today. >> How long you been here? >> At least 30 minutes. >> For like 30 minutes. >> Yeah. You're waiting on me though. I had to get your warrants because you you're Mr. Griffin, right? >> All right. How did you get here? >> Uh transport. >> Well, you arrived, didn't you? >> Yeah, sure. >> Jesus Christ. All right. Um All right. Give me one second. I'll talk to them about you real quick and then we'll sit down and talk to you. Okay. So, I got your warrants and stuff. So, let's speed it up for you. All right. >> And it's just a VOP, too. Yeah, >> my favorite jail squad. All right, Kan, [Music] first off, I'm glad that you come down here and turned yourself in. Okay, who who brought you down here? your grandma and your aunt, your mama can we? Okay. Um girlfriend, any other family, anything like that? But but mom and aunt, so your family knows where you are. >> Okay. Um you talked to your probation officer over in Gwynette? >> Okay. I I left her a message, but I haven't heard back from her cuz I wanted her to know that, you know, you were here so that they know cuz I think you got a VOP warrant out of Gwynette. Guess maybe you just need to call in or something. I'll probably clear that up. Okay. Um, I want to ask you some questions about yesterday and just go over some things that happened and read you your warrants and then, you know, we'll go from there. Okay. Um, ever had anybody read you your Miranda rights before? >> All right. So, what that does is that just allows us to have a conversation and allows me to ask you questions whenever we're having a conversation. So, anytime I ask you a question you don't want to answer, just don't answer it. Okay. [Music] got. Let's see. One, two. This is a standard issue Miranda rights card. It's a Miranda warning. All right. Hold it so we can both see it. It says you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used as evidence against you poor law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer and him or her present with you while you're being questioned. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you for any questioning if you wish. You can decide anytime to exercise these rights to answer any of these questions or make any statements. having these rights in mind. Are you willing to talk to me now regarding this matter? All right. So, you want would you like to talk to me? Just want to ask you a few questions kind of about yesterday, everything that led up to yesterday. Okay. The guy in the white truck. Now, who is that? >> He's a guy you work for. And what is it that he What is it that y'all are doing over there? You tearing up railroad tracks? What is it exactly are you guys doing? I don't know exactly what he doing, but he just I just wish him. >> Okay. Um, so the day before when y'all were there, you went into a Dodge Challenger unlock car. Now, there was two jars changed in there. Now, I know you went in there cuz I saw the video, but what I need to know is very important. I don't I'm not saying the lady's being untruthful. So, I'm just trying to figure out exactly how much money it was because I've got some proof. >> I never took the change. >> You didn't take the change? >> Okay. Um, I got a Coin Star video of you dumping change in a Coin Star for about $200, but this ladies there was like $600 taken. It's kind of a difference. So, I need to know was it, you know, was it 200 or was it $600? Cuz the guy in the white truck is just going to pay per bag. But I don't want him to, you know, be getting screwed out of $400. If it's just $200, then just pay her the $200. But if it's right now, she's saying, "Oh, it's $600." And he's like, "No, it was $150." >> $150. Okay. And that was in the change. >> Yeah. Because he told her yesterday, "Well, I'll pay you." And then I said, "Man, I believe it was only what the coin star represents telling me it's only $150, $200, something like that." And he went inside and spoke with her when you when you first ran. I said, "Don't run. Nobody's chasing you." And you took off running down the railroad tracks. B already kind of talked to him. He said, "Look, I'll just look I'll just pay it and I'll talk to the young man myself." He said, "I'm trying to" He said, "Just try to help you out. Trying to get you straight." Um, he said, "I'll handle it." Okay. So, when you talk, I said, "Man, don't run. You're going to make it worse. Like, just cuz your boss was already going to handle it." And he said, "And then I'll handle it myself with the young man." And, you know, whatever. I figured, you know, maybe he'll just take it out to check or, you know, whatever. Y'all work it out among yourselves. >> That's why I said That's why I said, "Don't run. Nobody's chasing you. Stop running." And he just kept running around the corner. And I was like, "Man," and even the um >> the guy in the white truck was like, "Man, if he would have just stayed." He said, "I would have went in and paid the lady." He was going to make you apologize to her. He said, "I would have just paid the lady and just said, "Look, the young man's going through through some things. Um trying to get a place to stay with his um is it your fiance or just girlfriend?" Fiance. Cuz I think he said fiance. I was >> just a girl. >> Okay. >> Because he said he's young man. He's getting started out in life with his with his girlfriend fiance. He said I'll take care of it and then I'll explain to him you know how we got to grow up as men. You know we start having wives and stuff. >> Yeah. So then so after you went around the railroad tracks I was like all right whatever. So I talked to the guy in the white truck a little bit more and we went inside. The lady I can't believe he ran. I said he's probably scared. I don't know what all he's got going on. I was like, but there's I could tell because when I said I said, don't run. You stood up. I said, man. I said he's about to run. But I didn't. I was like, you know, whatever. So the guy in the white truck was like after you left, we went inside. He talked to the lady a little bit more and she was like, "Oh, it's $600 or $700." And I said, "Uh, [Music] >> yeah. So, um, I said, "I don't know if that amounts right, sir." Cuz I said, "Hey, let me talk to you outside." So, me and him went me and him went back outside and I said, "Look, I I'm not trying to say she's some type of way or whatever, but I don't think that amount is right. I need to talk to Kjan and find out is it, you know, 150, 200, 700, cuz I don't want him to be out." Oh, and then later on that afternoon cuz we had people out riding, you know, I saw you. I said, I was going to stop. I said, I just want to talk to you. And he took off running cuz when I rolled one, I said, "Don't run." And he took I was in the grave charge. He took you ran behind me. And even when I got up there, the little brick building where we went up in the woods, I said, "Stop running." And he got to the fence. I said, "Kan Griffin, don't jump to that fence." Cuz I was afraid you were going to cut your hand cuz the bobwire cuz the fence is open right there. You just walk down the side. I was like, "Don't do it." Cuz I thought, "Did you hurt your hand?" >> Yeah. >> Up top here. Yeah. And all that. Yeah. See? And over here too. You got some scratches and stuff over here. That's why I was like >> That's why I was like, "Don't jump that fence." I was like, >> I figured >> I've been shot at before. >> Really? >> My cousin. Well, my auntie, that's why she made me turn in. yesterday. Now, now don't get me wrong, I'm not a mental health professional. I've had some training, but I'm not a mental health professional. But I knew yesterday when I walked up and we looked at each other eye to eye, I was like, I could see the panic and you know, fight or flight. That's kind of how I'm glad we didn't fight, thank God. But that's kind of how we're programmed. And I could tell I was like, "There might be something more here." Um, just the way you was reacting. I was like, "There may be something more on board." And then your grandma told me, she's like, "Yeah." She's like, "He's got up by that fence." I said, "Man, he is going to cut himself up so bad." And we were running around the building cuz I was talking to you at one point. We was both out of gas, right? He was walking. I was walking. He was up here and I was like, "Hey, stop." And we ran around that corner and the van was running. You must have thought, "Oh, this is my way out to Atlanta." It was sitting up on the ramp. Did you know that that lady was inside of the van that that body was in there? So when you come down and you took off in the van, like a gurnie rolled out the back of the van with a body. I'm sure you've seen the news story. It's all over the news. >> It's everywhere. Um, I didn't charge you with anything to do with that because I don't think you knew that because I was right behind you, but I had to stop because at the corner of the building, I don't I don't ever run around corners of building. I had a buddy got shot like that. So, I always stop for say, make sure ain't nothing coming and then go. I mean, it's just I got a family, too. You know, I want to go home, too. Like I told you, I just want to talk to you. Stop running. I don't want nothing to happen. So, we took off in that van and lady's body rolled out of the van. I stayed with her cuz I'm not just going to leave a body in the park. No, I'm like and I had other officers. So then when we got in the car chase all the way down 20 and you hit a couple cars trying to get away from the cops. You changing lanes and stuff. >> When you stopped right there on that guard rail and you jumped out the van, where did you go? Down in that marsh. >> Okay. >> I don't know. I don't remember because I know that's what the guy in the white truck. He said, "Man, this kid is an Atlanta kid." I said, "Yeah, I feel bad for him because when you first ran," I said, "It's hot out here. He You don't know where you are. You're from Atlanta." I said, "He's out here in trees and woods and Rockdale County." Like, you know, you can't drink that pond water. That stuff. I said, "He probably don't know where those stores are. They're like, go get water." I said, "He's just out here and he's got no phone." Cuz I asked, I said, "He's got a phone." He said, "Man, he ain't got no phone. He uses mind to call, you know, people or whatever." He's like, >> so I talked to the guy at the BP and he said, "You told him that like your car got stolen or whatever. You need to text your girl." He said, "I just you use my phone. I left you everything about it." Um, so pretty much. And I talked to grandma. I talked to your grandma a lot yesterday when you were in the woods in the cab county. Um cuz I figured I was like either you go into your mama's house cuz we always go to mom's house when we get in trouble or or somebody like a mom either grandma or aunt or older sister or something cuz that's what we do is people and I talked to grand man I talked your your grandma me out I talked to your grandma lunch yesterday. Um at first she thought it was a scam and I said no this is this is legit. I said turn your TV on. I said, you know, like turn the TV on right now, you'll see I20 shut down. And she's like, well, I'm worried about I said, I am, too. That's why I'm on the phone talking to you. I said, I don't want nothing to happen. I said, this is all >> if you take it all the way back, it's $150 that man in a white truck was going to handle. >> And we would and now it's now it's just messy. And then, you know, they went to aunt's house last night. Um, and I talked to him. I said when I was telling your grandma I think your sister too. She sounds kind of young enough from to one. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. Yes. Okay. Your mom when I was talking to everybody last night I said listen I don't want anything to happen to him but the minute that the warrants are on the system like given the magnitude of everything that's going on like they're going to send like fugitive team find. I'm not looking for it. Just tell them just come see me. Like we just keep it simple, you know, so you can bond out whatever the Gwynette stuff is is whatever the Gonette stuff was. Um, and it's like, you know, people lie to us, people run to us, like it's part of the job, right? I mean, it is. Trust me, it's part of the job. Um, but I'm glad that you come down here. That shows a lot that you come out here and turn yourself in and the family brought you in here. The family knows who you are. So you have um did you know any >> Huh? >> I don't know. >> Okay. >> What did you when your family asked you about the body falling out the van? Did you Was that just crazy? Like you just >> Yeah. I didn't I didn't know. >> Yeah. I didn't think so cuz I mean it's one thing to run from us. I mean people do that as part of especially I I understand, but I don't think you're a disrespectful person that would do something like that to elderly female's deceased body. Like I just I mean it's what happened, but I just don't think there something with mouths or attention that you would you would do. >> I didn't know >> your family your family's talking to all the family members. They're like really bad. >> Oh, yes, sir. Yeah. >> Yeah. Um yeah, the um so these are these are the warrants that we did. Um and they're simple, right? Um so we're going to start back where they first start. So this is the uh So there's five. It's not as bad as it looks though, right? So this is um [Music] All right. So, there's the one from um the entering that's called entering automobile for where you went in the challenger >> and you talk the the money out of the challenger. So, the um she said it 700. So, that's what I had to put in the warranty and clarified up in the narrative. Look, I went and talked to Mr. Griffin at at the jail. He said it was just 150. Um and y'all went to the Cleveland Road Cleveland Avenue to the coin store there and you got 150 back. And then um where's that green bag at? The bag that the stuff was in. She said it was like a little drawstring bag. It seems car. Okay. Cuz the the lady was like, "Man, I just want my bag back." So maybe that bag is something special to her or whatever. >> Um but it says uh >> What's up, bro? How you doing? >> I'm good. Um it says uh did commit the offense of entering an automobile with intent to commit a to it said accused did commit above offense when he unlawfully entered the victim miss pageant's 2000 21 greg challenger and removed a green bag containing $700. Now I won't dispute that in there to clarify is just 150 in the jar. He cashed it in you know and the green bags in girlfriend's car. Okay. And and I also notated in my narrative and and it does to me it does matter and I think it matters to the judges too that the vehicle was unlocked. So you didn't like you didn't damage the window, you didn't damage door, nothing. It was it was unlocked. Why' you pick that car? >> It was unlocked. Did you see it was unlock or did you like flip the door handle? >> I knew it was unlocked. >> You knew it was unlock? you saw earlier walking back from the bathroom or something. Okay. And then um [Music] I'm trying to keep him in order of the chain of events of what happened. So then this is one for when you first ran and I told you stop running. Nobody chasing me. He just kept running. So this is um this is for a misdemeanor instruction for running on feet. said accused didn't knowly and willfully obstruct or hindered in detective Christopher Burns of the city police department and uh and lawful law enforcement officer and lawful discharge of their official duties by fleeing off foot to wooded air and refusing to stop for officer and that was when that was the one earlier on in the morning and buy the white truck would you just go down railroad tracks and then just like I know you went up in the woods because the folks seen you cut up in the woods and then would you just hook back to the store? Yeah. And then um did you ever go in the store? I just hung out in the park. All right. So this is for the second time he was walking out from the store. He was on the side. Okay. And then he ran behind the car and it's basically it said misdemeanor instructions for running and it says the same thing the other one did. said accused that no willfully obstruct or hindered detective Christopher Burns with the city counties police department law enforcement officer now offer discharge of the officers official ded on foot in a wooden air and fusion stop and this is up at uh behind 594 Simmon road which is the little brick building where you almost swung around that car that car almost got you the the one that was like parked you ran around I was like man glad they didn't have a ball hitch on there cuz you' like hurt your leg real All right. So, this one, these two are Australians, right? This is for the van. It says um setting cues while driving. This one's for the van. This is for the the car chase. Set of cues to take the property of a white 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. It's the bin number for the vehicle. the property of Stanley Todd Henderson and a value of $30,000 more with the intent to fet owner of property to it. Sedakus did steal abovementioned vehicle from the loading ramp of the rear of Henderson's and son's mortuary. He then exited the loading ramp at a high rate speed causing the rear doors of the vehicle to open causing the body of a deceased elderly female which was currently on a gurnie to fall into the parking lot by fleeing from the location. Okay. And this one is for obstruction for the police chase running from the officers. I only charge you with one of these. You're running from several officers, but I just charged you with the running. You know, one's going to, you know, you're running lights. Police cars are chasing. You don't need one for every officer cuz you're still running from one of us or all of us. He's still running. Those are the the the warrants. Um, so nothing too bad. the uh so I've talked to everybody um your family business owners the victim of the and and the guy in the white truck I think he's going to probably take care of that for you. once we get it cleared up and I tell her like look the young man said it was only $150 like trying to make over on this like just you know cuz the guy's going to pay you just you know take the money and you know let him help you out. I tried um I talked to grandma cuz I got grandma's number. She called at 1:00 in the morning. I got grandma's number. Um I'll see if she can't talk to your girlfriend and get me the bag even if they got a mailing whatever. Um, so I got to talk to the family of the elderly female later today. So what what would you like to say to them? >> I didn't I didn't know person. >> Okay. >> I I figured >> because your grandma said, "I'm gonna pray for you, officer. I'm going to pray for that family of that the lady and then I'm going to pray for my son to make it out the woods safe. Okay. Well, I'm glad that the family and you know, you made the decision to come down here and get it all turned around and um you know, I hope even though there's running and all the other craziness from yesterday, I hope this is a much better police experience than what you're used to. >> You know, cuz I was worried about that yesterday. I said, "Man, when you was running through the woods, I was like, when I was yelling your name, I was like, man, I just need you to stop. Even if you would stop right here, let me just tell you what's going on." Long before we ever got to the van and the lady and all that, we could have just like talked and just said, "Listen, the man in the white truck is going to take care of this." You know, like because always like so as men or as people, but as two guys, we always trying to provide for somebody, right? Even if it's oursel, but normally there's somebody. So if somebody that's you're already working. So I was like, well, he ain't no dead beat because he's working. Like you're not doing easy work. That's not easy work that you were doing. Like that's not like whatever easy work is to find that you that's hard work you were doing. Moving on to steel and banning all together. I like So he's working. So, there's got to be something more to make him like, well, he's not making enough money, you know? And then you telling me, I got a girlfriend, I got baby on the way. It's like he's out here trying to provide, trying to not do the things cuz it's easy to do the things you did that way, right? But it never works out. And if you're trying to do the right thing, take care of, you know, you got baby. You got any other kids? So this is going to be your first baby. So see you just trying I knew there had to be something more cuz I was like why does he keep running? I was like there's something deeper and something more going on. And then of course he's trying to get home to the family where it's safe cuz you know all the craziness in the world right now. I get it. All right. Absolutely. And then um John talked to uh I'm sure I wish you just stayed right there at the truck and I said I need to talk to you. He stood up and I said don't do it. And he was when the the lady officer come around and you stood back up and I was just like I went like this not on this side cuz I wanted you to make sure I wasn't like I'm right-handed so my guns are so I wanted to make sure you know you saw where my hands were. So I went like this with both my hands and then you took off front. I was like, "Man, just stop running. Like, I'm not chasing you. Like, literally, just I've already got this worked out." Like, because if I could and it's not that I'm a counselor, but if I can sit out there in the parking lot with that guy, the guy in the white truck, and we can sit on his tailgate, and I can say, "Listen, I can let the lady come out and say, I'll let you talk to him, but if you get sideways one bit, you're going to have to leave." but let's try to help this young man that's in his early 20s and say, "Look, this ain't the way to do it. You're not going to get nowhere doing this." And I would have left 30 minutes later. We' have shook hands. You'd have went back to work. You'd have been embarrassed, you know, with all that going on. The man in the white truck would have took care of it and we' just been done with it, you know, but it's it's grown. But it's okay cuz you come in, you turn yourself, we're going to get past it. You talk to the family and say, "Listen, young man's very sorry, you know. grandma close to that age like he's he didn't know and he's just you know extremely apologetic and just you know kind of sad and embarrassed and disappointed himself about the whole thing. Okay. Um you have any questions for me? anything you want me to tell your probation officer like >> yeah cuz I told her I said look said when he gets arrested I'm sure he'll be notified that he's arrested or whatever and then you know and then see that VOP stuff a lot of jails like they're not housing for that stuff right now so it could literally just be like you know they need to be contacted okay where Okay, he's at Rocker County Jail and he finds out he's staying with his auntie or his mom. Here's his address. Uh he's working for a dude in white truckers. He's mad at you, but he said, "I'm not going to stop working." He's like, "I'm He's I'm going to keep an eye on." He's like, "But if I don't work, who's going to work?" And then what's going to happen? He's like, out of desperation, like, you know, we do what we got to do, right? If you had, you know, if you weren't in that situation yesterday, let's say you had 30 grand in the bank, we'd be having a different conversation. we probably never would have had a conversation. So, it's probably a good thing that we did, you know. All right. I'mma turn these in up here and get them here. Get you booked in. And then, have you had that looked at that from that? It's been looked at like the bob wire where it's been cut. So, anybody looks at you? >> Yeah. I tell them to look at When's the last time you had a tetanis shot? >> Huh? >> You ever had a tetanis shot? >> What is that? >> It's like a shot that like if you get cut by metal or something like keeps you good. Okay. All right. Okay. Um, I should have put a phone in here cuz I had to take a picture. I need you to be steward.
