CHEERS FOR A MINUTE. >> THIS INCIDENT TOOK PLACE ON JUNE 9TH, 2025. Police in Lynwood, California received a call [music] reporting that a man, later identified as 45-year-old Federico Rodriguez, had forced his way into a home. When officers arrived at the scene, they learned that [music] a woman might be held hostage inside and that the suspect was armed. >> LA County Sheriff's [music] Department, he's he's got scissors. >> He's got scissors in his hand, sir? >> Yes. >> Drop everything in your hand. Drop everything in your hand. >> He's at the door right now with scissors in his hand. [music] >> The suspect ignored police warnings and retreated deep into the house. Police called for additional backup and negotiators arrived 10 minutes later to try and persuade him to surrender. >> LA County Sheriff's Department, if you're inside the house, then come out with your hands out [music] now. >> Because the suspect remained completely unresponsive, some officers began attempting to circle round back and break a window to find a new entry point. >> He's grabbing her. He's grabbing her. He's grabbing her. He's grabbing her. Get in. Get in. He's grabbing her. He's grabbing her. >> The suspect [music] noticed the officers' movements. Through the window, he could be seen grabbing the hostage and fleeing toward the front door. The police immediately decided to forcefully [music] breach the door to rescue her. >> [music]
