Police arrested six people who they say kidnapped a man. >> Oh my god. Look at him. >> No. Turn around. >> And they'll beating me. >> Okay. >> They will they won't let me see this defy me. >> He was afraid that he's going to get accused of a sister or something like that. >> In March 2025, in a parking lot outside a Red Roof Inn in Malami, Ohio, two families are here. Both have called the police. Both are pointing at each other. In one van, a mother who just found her son barely able to stand, bruised from his face to his ankles. A few hundred feet away, a woman with a calm, ready answer for everything. One of them is lying. And by the time the truth comes out, six people will be going to prison. Everything you're about to see is real. Police body cameras and the courtroom where it ended. Some of it is hard to watch. This is what happened at the Red Roof Inn. >> Was just involved in an incident. >> 889 dispatch. >> 89. >> I'll be out with the Kia. This is apparently one half of the incident. King John Henry 2481. >> I just have my permit. It's his car. >> Okay. Out with the Kia. King John Henry 2481. Where you at? >> Okay. Just outside the red roof in parking lot. >> The antique mall. >> At the antique mall parking lot >> cuz my hotel told me to take it off the property >> parking lot. You >> No, I'm okay. So, >> what what's going on? >> So, I had a friend of mine with me and >> what? >> You know, he was with us willingly, but apparently he got tired of doing something at the hotel or whatever. So he went over the speedway and told his people that he was in danger when he wasn't cuz you know he was danger. So one of my neighbors called and said there was people in danger. He was willing with us perfectly. He was in the back seat when they pulled up. He was perfectly fine drinking coffee. >> Then all of a sudden his mom or I guess it was his mom. I don't know these people. They pulled up behind my car almost smacked the back of my car. The hotel lady saw it. We were parked over there and she literally pulled in the back of us and like their car was facing if your car was facing this way and they like our car was facing this way in the parking lot. They made it this way >> and they completely blocked us in and the hotel they had as soon as we got on the phone with the cops they they took off. >> Okay. What's your name? >> My name's Martina. The hotel lady heard he said he was going to get out and beat his ass cuz we said we were going to call the police. All we were asking them was to take their son then and move away from our car. Who's um who who's the friend that was in the car? >> His name was Austin. >> So, how old's Austin? >> 25 I think it was. >> Cuz the information came out that he was listed as a missing person or something. Is that >> No. >> Know anything about that? Start with the woman in the parking lot. Her name is Martina. You have to understand the house she ran 20 minutes away in Toledo. Martina was married to a man named Michael Escua. But at the same time, she was in relationships with four other men who lived in that house. Aaron Bradshaw, Austin Bradshaw, David Cessna, and Chance Johnston. She had children with several of them. Police wouldn't call it a family. A prosecutor would later call it a cult with Martina at the center. And there was one more man living there. His name was Austin Mlelen. One quick warning so you don't get lost. One of the men in that house was named Austin Bradshaw. The victim was Austin Mlelen. Two people with the same first name. The victim is Austin Mlelen. >> What am I calling? >> How many people are in the car here? >> Oh, my brother. >> Look, I can tell you he Sonia, he is not missing. This is his grandmother. We talk on a daily base. He even has went and voice clicked his grandmother. >> Well, someone just text me. >> Just text me. >> He He literally voice >> this is Austin. >> But she didn't believe it was Austin at first. He said, "This is Austin. Hello." Like, >> we were all having a good old time. He was laughing at everything. She took that pictures like they knew where he was the whole time. >> Okay. >> Like, and here's the deal. They're acting like it was a kidnap situation. I mean, he's got some bruises on him because him and the boys be playing around like wrestling and stuff. Like, boys, he's got some bruises on him, but now they think that we beat him. I said, "No." And he even walked out of here with a big old giant cup of coffee and everything. We were all just in the back seat chilling. They pulled up behind my car and blocked me and said that they're taking their son. They they got him out of my car and pushed him inside their van. >> So, is he is he special needs or something like that? He's got a um >> stutter. >> That's it. But he's not like >> that's all he is. He just got a stutter. >> It's not like he's autistic or developmentally disabled or anything like that where there'd be some sort of >> extra concern considering his son. >> But here's the thing that when they pulled up they and then he all of a sudden started agreeing that uh I put my hands on him. They all put their hands on him. But he wasn't saying that. At first he was saying he didn't want to go with them and didn't tell his mom pulled him out of my youth passenger seat and put him in the car and then he started agreeing with everything cuz his brother was in there, his stepdad was in there and his mom was in there and his dad and his stepdad was like tell us everything blah blah blah like yelling at him and they rolled up all the windows. They wouldn't even let the hotel lady talk to him. They knew where he was. It's just he came over here for a couple nights. My house is 713 Parker Avenue. He's been there for 2 years. He came on New Year's 2 years ago. What are you guys doing here at Redmond today? Uh >> me I've been staying here a while. My house is getting fixed on Parker, but he's been staying there with other people. >> Okay. >> Cuz my father, my mother-in-law, and uh their other brother stays there and he's been staying there helping take care of the dogs. But other than that, he literally he smokes on his free will. He does anything he wants to do on his free will. Like I said, his parents told the hotel lady that he's beaten because he's got a couple bruises and stuff cuz the boys wrestle around with him. He got out of the car. They got a car cuz we were trying to cuz they almost smacked my vehicle. How close they were blocking in my vehicle. They almost smacked it. So then I just went in and told my hotel lady cuz they're not allowed to block vehicles. I went in and told her, she was like, "Yes, they need to move their vehicle." But as soon as she told me to call the police and tell them they're not moving the vehicle. As soon as they saw I was on the phone, they took off. >> The father tried to fight us. >> The father tried to fight them, but the lady told him to get in the vehicle and then they took off that way, like straight that way, and went that way somewhere. We don't have his ID, Sam. Back seat. Okay. Apparently, they're over at Speedway. I've got two officers over there talking to him now. So, you guys just want to hang tight for a few. We're going to have to sort out exactly what happened here. All right. And then, uh, hopefully he can send everyone on their way to get back to his mom. But he's sitting there saying we're beating him and all this stuff. I don't put my hands on people because I've been beat my whole child life. They know better cuz they know they go they go to jail. He came to us with bruises and stuff on him two years ago and he said that his stepdad was beating him. I know he's terrified of that dude. >> How do you guys know him? >> I went to high school with him. >> Okay. >> I went to high school with him. >> He's a high school classmate then. >> He's also an ex of mine. We stayed really good friends. >> His mom never liked me because of an old ex of his that treated him really bad and she looked at girlfriends like that. >> All right. So, did were you guys near the office when all this happened? >> The office in the office. >> Every word of that is a lie. The friend she says was free to come and go is Austin, her ex, and one of her boyfriends. He wasn't visiting for 2 days. He'd been under her control for 2 years. And while she talks, his mother is a few hundred feet away, telling the officers a very different story. >> Are you Did you call? Have you called? Did you call for us? my wife car. But >> where's she at? >> Here we are. >> We didn't do nothing. I can see you guys. >> Hold on. Hold on for a second. >> 181. Dispatch, I'll be out with the black minivan at the speedway. >> What are we going on? What's going on? >> He's been missing for a few years. He dates this girl and this has happened before. When she gets him, she uh isolates him, but I can't do nothing cuz he didn't know. He's I'm sorry. I don't think he's awesome, but he's on the spectrum and he's very easy easy manipulated. >> So, this is your son you're talking about? >> Right here. This is my son. I just picked him up. I pulled up behind them and I said, "That's the car." And I looked. I said, "That's my son, Austin. Get out of the car and get in my van." And I was on the phone with the cops. I said, "Do you want >> Okay. You're here. >> Don't be bruised. >> Dave, if you you're going to get in the car, you're not doing nothing." >> Okay. Okay. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Let have a seat in the car for a second. Dave, >> just have a seat in the car. >> I can't believe you can't act like a [ __ ] adult. >> I'm acting like an adult. >> No, you're not. You need to watch yourself. Relax. >> Going to show you. >> So, you've been looking for him for a while? >> Two years. You haven't seen them for 2 years. >> So, what made you come to this? >> Oh my god. Look at him. >> Turn around. >> Turn around. Awesome. >> Ma'am, come talk to me for a sec. Okay, >> Dave. I will leave you forever. Sit down and shut up. I know you have better sit. >> Oh, my bruis my [ __ ] dick's bruised. He's got a cut on the back of there. Okay, >> my son is first. >> I'll take that off. I think we get that. >> There's a cut here, too. >> Yeah, we >> This happened cuz I push into a door and with the park and they push me to [ __ ] tree my head by head off [ __ ] tree. >> So, he's been missing for 2 years. You have not seen him for 2 years? >> No. Some Some lady messaged me on Messenger today like 12:30 and she's like, "Hey, your son Austin's here. He needs to get to you." And I knew she was talking about my son cuz his name's spelled A U S T Y N. She spelled it correctly. >> So, I knew that. And so, I reached out to her and she was like, "Oh my god, they're gone already." So, I was still coming here to see if I could get video. >> She told him, she told him that they were at the red room. >> No, no, she didn't say anything. She said that she saw them. The lady that messaged me. We came in here and they were >> She said she saw him here. >> Yes, he was here. And she bought him coffee and donuts. >> Okay. >> And then some guy came in and approached him and made him go outside and they were screaming at him. >> Okay. Because they were he was out of their Dave, >> why can't you listen? >> Dave, please. >> Please. Oh my god. >> Let me >> Well, I mean, how happy do you think he is seeing his son all beat up and cut up? I mean, he's upset, but I just got to keep him in control. He has a head. >> This is my other son. This is his brother. You can't Baby, you ain't got a coat on. Get in the van. >> I know. I know. >> Anyways, and I've been looking for him. And um just recently, a little while ago, my mom said that she had an address because they said she wanted the money and it was 713 Parker Street. It was about a month ago and I sent the cops over there or she sent the cops over there to do a welfare check. Apparently, I checked his ID and he was fine. Does he look fine? So, [snorts] they disappeared from that. >> He hasn't been He's not listed as missing. >> No, because when he first left, they manipulated >> willingly at first. >> Yes. And >> Right. But you can still report an adult missing. >> But I mean like what did I have to say? He left willingly. I But I didn't know that he didn't. I thought that he wanted to be with them. You know what I'm saying? And then I that's why I got him in the car and I said, "Honey, do you want to be with them? I'll leave. I'll leave if you want." No, I don't want to be your mom. Look at how beat up he is. They need to be arrested. Oh my god. >> Now, who who are the people that >> I don't know? Martina. He knows all their names, first and last name. >> Okay. Who are they to him, though? >> Um, Martinez's ex-girlfriend. >> And then there's a gentleman with them, too. >> Yeah. >> Apparently, there's two girls and a guy. >> Okay. So, what do you think? He's on drugs at all or anything like that? Okay. >> So, what what are what are the reasons for them like holding on to him or >> I don't know. I don't know. They just manipulate him. They treat him like garbage. >> All right. >> If they won't let him have a phone or anything, you can't reach out. >> That's why he couldn't contact >> and that's why they're not living at 17. >> What's your What's your first name, hun? >> Tiffany. >> That's Tiffany, Austin's mother. For 2 years, she'd barely been able to reach her own son. Inside Martina's house, Austin wasn't allowed to work. He lost two jobs. He wasn't allowed to call his family. He wasn't even allowed to keep a phone. He'd moved in after Martina, his ex, reached back out. And at first, he said things were fine. They didn't stay fine. >> So, let me start the beginning of what's going on. >> So, I force moved out. >> How old are you? >> 26. >> 26. Okay. >> This person 67. So, basically it was four. I have a wife. She hit me up. She's She's like, okay. She hit me up and [ __ ] It was cool when I first when I first moved in over at Parker cuz they this hotel I live with somebody else or family at on on Parker >> where Parker Avenue on the east. >> Okay. >> It's to to >> Okay. >> And I moved in. I came over here. She was long. We're at the house and got you hot dogs on sometimes. You know how they got a fight and we're trying to break it up. Someone picked up a steel chair trying to break it up. They stay with me and I know I didn't. And then they [ __ ] all [ __ ] stay there. >> Chance I don't know where this happened and and at the hotel recently last couple days and and they help clean I don't clean at all. Right. They made me lift the [ __ ] floor cuz my tongue who lives there. What room are you staying in? >> Uh they say at 128. >> Who is >> Martina Chance and Martina Chance? Michael and David. I was last name too if I I don't know both. I know their first and last name. That's all I know. >> You've been staying there for how long? >> I I remember staying there. I've been there for about maybe two weeks now, but I was staying I was originally at Park um Parker Avenue originally basically. She she she basically controlled me. I was I talked to my family and nothing like that who control Tina. I would say Jones the whole doctor just got married. So her last name is exed legally Tina which is my ex and they started [ __ ] beating on me and [ __ ] I didn't take anymore and I wanted but when they made me I don't mind cleaning you know the dogs the dogs piss. I don't mind helping clean. So, how does a man end up like this? It started with a dog. A fight broke out between dogs at the house, and Martina and Austin both moved in to break it up. In a scramble, Martina's arm was broken. But she didn't tell the others the truth. She told them Austin did it. That lie was all the permission they needed. And when Austin begged them to stop, and he did beg, it was Martina who told them to keep going. She never had to throw a punch. It was her house, her orders. >> But it made me look clear. Look at Yeah, >> that's about with with clean up. >> Just give me a second. >> Okay, I'm not getting a good story yet, but it sounds like he was staying somewhere. Parker, >> the 713 Parker. >> Yes. Was that how long went towards you? Okay. >> Do Let Let me ask you one question. Do you want to be with these people? No. >> Were they holding you against your will? >> Yes. And And they were beating me. >> Okay. >> And >> let me see. Let me see. Like, do you have anything on your legs? I seen some of your stuff on your >> When did this happen? How fresh is this? >> [ __ ] Let's see. Yesterday, yesterday we were riding around. They hit me. They won't they won't let me sleep. They deprive me. I was looked up in the car the one day, right? That's how I felt. They hit me hit me bucket. >> You got anything on your other legs. >> And you don't want to be with these people at all? >> No. >> Okay. You want to sit with them for a second while I go over real fast? >> All right. Let me go over and see what's Hey, Tiffany. I'm going to run over to the sergeant that's over there and uh he said he did not want to be with these guys at all and they're they've been beating them and stuff. So, we're going to figure out what's going on. Okay, just give me a second. >> Home. >> Not yet. Not yet. Just hold on. >> Is he trying to mute these people? >> I Yeah, he's if you want to. Yeah, if he can he can sit in there. Just hang with him for a second. Okay. >> When I I don't know >> because I'm on the phone with my pops who owns that house on Parker. He was supposed to come with us and drink with us one New Year's and he we me and the dude that I'm talking to right now, we had to beg mom and dad to let him stay because he said his mom kicked him out because he she found out he was hanging around me. Like I'm on the phone with the people who who own the house who had to basically, you know, get his address over there and everything. Like we tried to save him because he told us that he was getting hit and stuff and then he got kicked out. >> I don't even know where the kidnapping came from thus far. Who told you that? >> It's that guy. He said apparently we kidnapped him. >> Okay. But I'm on the phone with people who let him in their house. You know, there's a front door. There's a back door. If he if he ever wanted to leave, he can leave. That's my dad. He and he's over at 713 Parker. No one kidnapped him. No one heard this boy. We told him he could leave. He's the one who told us that his mom um said that something about uh he was afraid that he was going to get accused of raping his sister or something like that and that his mom wouldn't let him back in. >> Okay. >> Yeah. He had free room and board here. >> He had free room board. He didn't pay nothing at that house. I paid all his expenses and everything. But my dad's saying that well, you know, this boy is every time he gets around his mom, these stories backed up. He lived with me in Concord in Columbus and this is what happened too. His mom got him back in care and they did all this stuff and got police involved and all kinds of stuff saying we kidnapped him, we hurt him, and then he came right back to our lives literally two other years later. >> Who is he? 80 years technically. >> He's an ex of mine, but he's also a friend of mine since 2014. Since high school. >> No. No relation though, right? >> No. >> Okay. >> But no, he's been a close friend of mine for a while and he's the one who keeps willingly reaching out to me to ask me to come get him and hang out with him. But his mom don't realize that. >> Okay. Like I said, I'm just trying to piece together a puzzle. How many of you guys are staying in a hotel room? >> The four of us. >> There's four of you. >> So you three and then Austin. >> No, his brother. Austin is only visiting. >> How long has he been here? >> He's only been here 2 days, but it's been on and off. Like we've been back and forth from the house. I tell him. >> Okay. >> Like he hasn't spent the whole day with us. >> Gotcha. >> Like he didn't spend the night or anything. It was just we came and got him and he came to hang out and then we went back. >> How did she find out he was here? >> We don't know. >> We were here all day today. He was with his with David. We don't know what happened or what. All I know is we picked him up. He he told me that he wanted picked up his speedway. >> Where's the other roommate? >> He was the dog >> in the room. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Would you have any opposition to us looking at your room? >> What about my room? >> I'm just asking. Would you would you allow us to look at our at your room? >> I don't know if my dogs would >> I don't have a case. >> How many dogs you got in there? >> I have four. >> I don't know if it's going to come down to it, but if their side of things, if if they say that, you know, maybe go look at like something that would incline us to want to look in the room. Would you >> ask for though? >> I'm just asking. Would you would you consent to >> fine? I would put my dog's weight. But what if what would you guys look for? Well, if he's saying that he was abducted or whatever he's saying over there, whatever you said, >> abduct. >> What did you say? >> Kidnapped. >> Kidnap. There you go. >> I'm not I do not abduct anybody. >> I don't kidnap anybody either. >> Um but if if he wasn't free to leave, then I was just wondering if you would have any issues with me looking in your room. >> What are you going to look for? A chair with duct tape on it? >> Possibly. >> There's nothing there. [laughter] >> Seen crazier things. Is there a chair with duct tape in there? >> No, I don't even The ONLY CHAIR I HAVE THE hotel even gave me that chair. The only chair I have is the gaming chair I bought. >> Obviously, it it could go both ways. One, if there's a roll of duct tape on the floor, yeah, that could be a problem. But also, if I look in there and there's nothing going on, that that would obviously indicate that maybe he wasn't trapped in there. So, I'm just saying it could help you and it could also hurt you. >> Can I ask you, >> but it would completely be >> in the room. But, can I ask you something? If he was trapped, he wouldn't have been able to go to Speedway earlier to get coffee, right? >> If he was trucked, he wouldn't have been able to go to Speedway and get coffee. That big old cup of coffee he has in his pan, that's from there. >> And then Speedway Speedway themselves saw him willingly cuz we went in and got him willingly get back in my car earlier. >> So we're we're just trying to sort through everything that they're saying and and what you're you're telling us. Okay. >> There had already been one chance to save him a month earlier. Tiffany had sent police to the house for a welfare check. And by the time anyone followed up, the group had moved. The officer is stuck. two families, two opposite stories, and no way while standing in a parking lot to know who's telling the truth. So, he does the only thing that can break the tie. He starts searching. >> So, we don't know who's telling the truth or if maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle. I we don't know. And due to the the nature >> the one I just told >> due to the due to the nature of the allegations that are being made, we're going to have a detective just come and try to try to help us sort through everything to make sure that >> what allegations are being made him being abducted >> potentially. Yeah. >> I did not abduct this boy. His grandmother just sent a uh safety check over to uh 713 Parker to make sure it was him because his mom told him to and they came and talked to him at the house. >> Okay. They did a welfare thingy. What? >> Welfare check. How long ago was that? >> That was only a couple months ago. >> They came out and they did a welfare check and they walked away. He came out personally and talked to us. We told her, "Don't give it out to everybody." But right there >> that was sent to who? >> His grandmother, which is that lady's mom who talked to her name is Sonia? >> Yeah, that's his grandmother who literally sent Christmas gifts to my kids right there. Ladies, I told her what size my kids wear and everything. Like she sent she sent us gift cards. She had sent us tons of stuff and it and she sent it to that address and he didn't >> What is your relationship? >> Okay. >> Um the boys got an argument with him and said they can he cannot be looking at me sexually like that because we're no longer thing. We're just friends and they they get in a yelling fit like face to face but there was no violence. When we were at the donation center I got told that he went to Speedway. Well, I went up to Speedway San. He grabbed a a lady, this random lady. Don't know who she is. He messaged her on his Facebook or whatever because he admitted to us. He's like, "I messaged my mom on this lady's Facebook if I want to leave." I said, "Okay." Well, he wouldn't give me the mom's address so I can drop him off person. He was like, "I'll figure a way there." He asked a lady, some random lady if she could take them and she said she had to work. So, she bought him a coffee and donuts. >> You said they had an issue with them >> yesterday. >> Yeah. No, that was today. >> That was today. >> Yes. >> Okay. So, maybe altercation today. >> It was a yelling altercation cuz he still has he has because he's my ex, he still has sexual dreams about me and he likes to say it out loud that he has sexual dreams about me and it gets these two going. >> Gotcha. >> And they got into a yelling pit. But here's the thing that before we left that they got into it cuz he wouldn't wake up where I was trying to get him up for donation. He wouldn't wake up and then they all got in yelling fit. He explained to them what kind of dream he has and I don't want to hear it. >> Right. He walks to the store with mom every single day. >> With who? >> With mom. He walks the store with her every single day to Dollar Tree. The Family Dollar doll dollar tree. No, it's his mom. But he walks to the store with her daily to the Family Dollar doll dollar tree over on the east side. >> The woman that's over there. >> No, his mom. The guy I'm on the phone with. He literally goes to the store with her daily. Austin Ducks. >> You're saying Austin Mlullen walks to the store >> with Brad Shaw's mom >> on a daily base. Oh, >> did you see what happened earlier a little while ago or >> I didn't see >> a little scuffle that happened out here or anything. You see >> I didn't see what happened. Um I talked to the um woman who said her you talking about the kid. >> Yeah. Yeah. Room 128 there from >> Right. I talked to the woman um whose kid it was. >> She said she's in room 128. Is that correct? >> The woman whose kid it was was not in the room. >> The one in the tan The tan Kia. The tan the tan kia is in the room 128. >> Yeah. And uh there was a heavy sat woman. >> The 128 came in here to pay on their room. >> Okay. >> And then next thing I know they [snorts] went outside and somehow they was made step outside. Um >> the woman that was in the black car, >> the black van. Yeah. black van said that the woman in the white van 128 [snorts] kidnapped her son. That's all I know. >> Did you call the police or did someone else? >> They called the police on each other. >> Do you have video out here or anything like this? >> Well, we might have [snorts] a video. >> Okay. Well, I mean, I'll write this. I just need to know if if it's something that's available like to the left of the tree there, >> right? Yeah. To the left of the tree. >> Um they were in that parking space. >> She was parked there. She was pregnant at first. >> Then she was coming here to pay. >> She came in here and pay. And when she went back out, um >> that's when the other girl came in to confront her. >> Uhhuh. >> Okay. I don't know. >> And then that lady came in here and said or she said out you heard out there. >> She said out there >> she kidnapped my son. Okay. >> She blocked um their caring. >> Did you see anybody actually fighting or anything like that? No. >> No. No. No exchange of >> fights or Okay. Just arguing. >> Just words. Yeah. Sounds like he hasn't eaten and stuff. Like he's like, "I'll do whatever you want me to do. Just I have to eat something. I haven't I haven't eaten in you know how long." So >> where's the dude at? >> He's in the back seat right here. Right where That's his brother that's standing out here. He's beat [ __ ] Like he's got >> He's beat [ __ ] >> Like he's got all kinds of you know bruises and [ __ ] like from all the way from his face all the way down to his ankles. You tell me. We'll do whatever you want to do. >> How many people are we dealing with? >> Well, we got him and then we have I think we have three in the other car over there. >> Are you going to be >> with Nick and those guys over there? Red Roof. >> Yeah. I'm sorry about they're between the lots over here. They're like I think they're in the antique lot right now. Tiffany, was that at your house or when you last seen him? >> Yeah, >> he left my house that morning. >> Okay. And I got her information. Obviously her information. >> You can stay on where the heat is. >> When's the last time you ate Do you eat every day or is it been a while since you eat? >> Last night. >> Okay. >> I had two slippos and two tacos. >> When's the last time they they beat you up? >> Yesterday. >> Yesterday. No, stay there. >> What about Detective Dean? >> Detective Dean is not here, either. I'm going to pull this up for you. >> All six were arrested. Each was charged with kidnapping, three counts of felonious assault, and two counts of tampering with evidence. Martina faced one more, domestic violence, against a member of her own household. Bond was set at $200,000 each. >> As she stands before this court, she is 29 years old. At three months old, her stepfather began sexually abusing her. By two, he was raping her. Her father, a drug addict, used to sell Martina for pills. He would dress her up as a hooker and give her away to people for money. It wasn't until she was 14 years old. And it just so happened that the friend's mother was a social worker, called children's services, and Martino was removed at 14 years old from her father's care where she was placed into foster care. >> None of them went to trial. One by one they pleaded guilty and the sentences landed almost exactly in order of who was most responsible. Aaron Bradshaw the oldest got the least. David Cessna a few years. Austin Bradshaw 8 to 10. Chance Johnston 8 to 12. Michael Escua Martina's husband 16 to 20. And for Martina's own past it was its own kind of horror. In court, her lawyer said she'd been sexually abused from infancy and that her father had trafficked her for drugs before she was taken into foster care at 14. When it was her turn, Martina cried. She called herself a coward. She called herself, >> "I was a monster." >> She said she'd been too afraid to pick up a phone and call for help. But Austin's own statement had already reminded the room who she really was and pointed them back to this from the night she was arrested. He told the court he still has nightmares. He talked about the broken bones, the two years, the jobs she took away from him. He said he believed she'd do it again and asked the judge to keep her away as long as the law allowed, and he wanted them to know one thing, that he never did anything to any of them or to the animals in that house. The judge agreed the childhood Martina survived was real. Then she rejected what Martina did with it and handed down at least 22 years. Strip away the headlines. The call, the six defendants, the hotel room, and what's left is a simpler, older story. A man was pulled away from the people who loved him, handed to the people who heard him, and punished for something he never did. The one system built to catch it, missed him by weeks. What saved him in the end was a stranger at a gas station who looked at him, believed him, and made a single phone call. Sometimes that's all it takes, and sometimes it very nearly doesn't come. Thanks for watching Unmasked. If this one stayed with you, the next one's already waiting.
