On October 27th, 2025, officers responded to a report of a major theft involving an employee accused of stealing a large amount of cash and high value products from an optition clinic. >> How's it going, officer Har Police Department? >> What's going on? >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> Hi. >> Hi. >> It's me. >> It's me. >> All right. >> What we got going on? Um, so when we came in and opened this morning, my employee realized the door was unlocked. >> Okay. >> The alarm code was not set, so it wasn't beeping like it normally is. And then when she turned on lights and things and proceeded, she saw things were kind of disarray. >> Okay. >> Um, >> what exactly was disarray? >> So this display here, all of this facing part was like all dish. I have pictures of it. And then, as you can see, there's holes in here. This is always very full. So, we know about theft or not. So, these missing holes are all missing. >> Okay. >> And then, um, >> our cash drawer has a key that's in our front desk area, and all of the drawers are open to find said key. >> Okay. >> Key is gone, but this the cash drawer is still here. >> Okay. Do you guys have any cameras inside? >> We do, but they unplugged it. >> Okay. >> And we don't have access to the actual footage. Like, there's a code that you have to put in. And so when I got put on as a manager, the manager before me was fired. So I didn't learn any of that stuff. >> Okay. Okay. Um, do you have an itemized list like how much taken roughly? >> We couldn't So when I talked to the first dispatcher, they said not to touch anything. So I could do inventory, but I did run the inventory. We just haven't actually cross referenced what it is that's missing. >> Okay. And obviously he's now touching stuff because we don't think anything over here was taken, but he was just helping a patient. So, >> okay. >> So, I don't actually know what's taken from locally yet. Well, stop what you're doing. >> Put [clears throat] it at your desk or do whatever with it. >> Okay. >> So, >> okay. Um, >> this is already one thing that I always keep full because this is an easy way for me to see if somebody was taken if patient was here. >> Okay. >> Um, but let me see. Show you the So, the main thing now is we can't open the store because I don't actually know if I have cash in my cash drawer. >> They've taken it. >> You still haven't checked. >> We don't have the key. >> We don't have the key. >> So, I'd have to literally break it in order to see. >> And so, this is how they were cash. >> It's in my office. >> Not the cash drawer, but where the key is located >> here right now. >> And I was told for you guys to have to do fingerprinting if you needed to or what have you. But this is what it looks like. And this is supposed to be how it is now. people who touch this. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> And then like she walked past and this is a like we have to be very tidy so we know things are what have you, >> right? >> But this is how the drawers was when she got here. >> Okay. >> It's like opened like this. >> So besides this main area, nothing back there has been touched that you know. >> The rooms are fine. >> Just this front area. It's like it's not like it's right here. It's very >> this area right here. Sorry. Do you mind if I come back and have a little look and stuff like that? >> This is a contact lens. Nothing was here. >> Literally in my office, nothing was touched other than >> which is still unplugged. And this is where it's unplugged here. So this is the cash drawer where we were. >> Have you tried plugging it back in? >> No, I didn't know where it went to be honest. >> That No. Damn it. Okay. Let me have a look cuz I might be able to see if it captured stuff. >> Aha. >> When? >> And then what kind of key is this? >> It's It's literally just a small gold key. >> It's very very small. >> You don't have the combo. >> It's not in the safest ever. Oh, got >> this one. [snorts] >> So, you got here. Actually, why don't we just step inside of this room real quick? Have a seat. >> Do you need this room? >> Uh, no. We're just going to sit in here. What is that? >> No, this is I'm going to call the >> Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Just have a seat. All right. So, you got here at 8:24, 8:25. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What was the first thing that kind of made your made you realize that something was wrong? >> It was odd that the door wasn't locked. >> That was the oddest. >> But when I came in and I saw the stuff moved, I'm like, maybe they just forgot to lock it, >> you know, and that's I just wouldn't. And but then that's when I realized too that the alarm wasn't going off. >> Gotcha. >> So, I'm like, okay. Do you normally open up in the mornings? >> I'm the first Yeah. first person. >> Okay. And so you always end up punching in your alarm code. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And you have your own code separate from everybody else? >> Yeah. I was given mine years ago and everyone else has the same one. >> It was with a different manager when I was hired. >> Gotcha. >> She's like, "Put in your own code." And then Yeah. >> So, what's what's protocol for you guys if you notice something's wrong? Like what are you know what's the company policy as far as what you're supposed to do? Well, talking to Katie this morning, she said if I notice that obviously the door's unlocked and the alarm's not open. If I don't know uh if someone's here, just immediately do not go in and call the cops. >> So, you know, kind of myself looking at it, it does look like it was an inside job. >> Mhm. >> You know, um so it just brings up, you know, some awareness on my part and wanting to do my due diligence and trying to talk to everybody about it. >> Yeah. >> Um but you don't think that's a possibility? Am I am I off base here? I don't think I know these ladies well enough. I don't think >> Okay. >> So, are you aware that um with security companies they keep logs of all the codes that are used? Okay. If we pull a log from the company, are we going to see your code being used between Friday and today? >> Not at all. >> Okay. All right. Well, thank you. Y >> welcome. No problem. It's us. Hey, can you come in? Can we come in? Come step out and talk to us for a bit. >> Hang on one second. >> We just got some questions and some other stuff to go through. Why don't we just head down here cuz it's kind of cramped. I'm kind of claustrophobic. Sorry. >> Are you guys arresting me right now? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Yes, we are. Okay. Just go ahead. Put your hands behind your back. We'll we'll >> get some stuff in a second. So, you are under arrest for Berg 2, which is a felony. >> Okay. Okay. So, you you obviously know why we're here. >> Yeah. >> Right. Okay. So, um we had the footage. >> Okay. We talked to the manager. She said that during your exit interview, you admitted to taking the cash and stuff like that. Um so, yeah. uh we appreciate you being cooperative and talking us and telling us the truth. That is something that will go in my report and it does go a long way. Like when I write reports and stuff, if people lie to me, I include that in there. I don't appreciate it and the prosecutor doesn't appreciate it. But because you told us the truth, you've been forth with us admitting to everything that will go in my report as well. So, you know, prior to seeing the video footage, we were pretty confident it was you. I know. >> And there was a couple things that were a dead giveaway. You could probably tell by the conversation that we were having. >> Yeah. Um, you know, I asked everybody in the office. I was like, "Hey, do you think this could be an inside job?" And everybody's like, "Yeah, probably." And then when I asked you that same question, you're like, "Oh, flat out, no." Right? That's kind of tells me two things. One, right? Okay. Normally people when they answer those types of questions, right, the innocent person who goes, "Yeah, that's a possibility." But the guilty person who's trying to shift blame will say, "Yeah, no, it that can't. It's not a possibility. Trying to throw us off potentially ascent." Right? And two, the way you phrased it was, you know, no, I don't think any of those women, right? Because you didn't mention yourself, but you mentioned them, right? Which means, hey, I think you're a decent person, and you're not wanting to get any of your co-workers in trouble, right? Which [snorts] shows some character on your part. So does coming and fessing up and coming clean. And so I think at the end of the day, you are probably feeling some guilt around this situation, right? And the worst thing you could do is hold on to that. So it's good that you were able to unburden yourself of that guilt. The employee was later charged with felony burglary. On June 25th, 2024, officers were dispatched to a Nordstrom store following a report that a student and her mother had stolen a large amount of merchandise. It was reported that they brought tools, including wire cutters, scissors, and screwdrivers, to quickly remove security tags before taking the items. The student initially claimed that herself and her mother had not done anything wrong. However, as officers continued their investigation, they discovered evidence that contradicted her statement. >> Hey, how you doing? >> This was recovered off of her purse. Um, she had scissors on her. They took makeup, the handbag, and the shoes. Okay. >> They remove the sensor from the shoes with either the scissors or the pliers. >> Gotcha. And then if you just have your driver's license on, you'll grab that from you as well. >> I do. You speak you speak English? >> Yeah, I do. But she she understands a bit. Like I need to translate to her. >> What What language? >> Bangla. >> Bangla. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Do you guys have driver's licenses? >> Um I don't have my wallet, but I can show you. And >> do you have a Florida driver's license? >> She has one as well? >> No, she doesn't. >> Okay. >> She has her ID, but she doesn't have her driver license. >> What state is the ID out of? >> Uh Florida. >> Florida. Okay. Gotcha. need to get a receipt. Uh >> you separate the stuff. >> It's all going to be together. They're getting charged all the same. >> They work together. >> Yeah, that's Yeah, that's why we're going to charge all the same. >> Yeah. >> So, do you guys have You said you don't have your deal with you. >> Yes, >> you don't. I can show you on my phone. >> On your phone? >> Yes. >> We're just going to grab your information. >> Okay. [clears throat] Yeah. What's your first name? >> Jonathan. >> Can you spell it for me, please? J A N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N S N >> I wrote it, but I want to get this one at the top. >> All right. Can you just confirm the spelling for your last name? >> F E A H. Okay. And then >> um 911 202. >> All right. So we're going to put you guys in our handcuffs. Do not move. Okay. Do not reach for anything. Um and we're going to put those on. Okay. one at a time, right? >> So, let's do her first one. >> Come over here. >> Thank you. >> All right. I'm just going to search you. Okay. >> Spread your feet. Square your feet for me. >> No, no, no. Put your shoe on. >> Square your feet like this. I search and then you search her. Sorry. Um, um, can you just tell us what you saw? >> Yeah. So, I was in the accessory doing >> real quick. I'm so sorry to interrupt. We're going to do a sworn statement with him. So, we're going to do that before you tell us what happened real quick if you're cool with that. >> Um, say your first and last name. Carlos Brunelli >> in reference to police services department case number 7542. This statement is being taken at 1400 West Road present. Also it's officer code right. >> Can you raise your right hand? Thank you. Uh do you solemnly swear Thomas that the statement you give will be the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. So help you God. >> Yes. >> Please state your name. >> Carlos Adon Grenell. Perfect. Can you just tell us what happened? >> So, I was doing uh for surveillance in the police department um when I saw the subject, the one wearing the blue shirt and blue jeans, the older subject approached the makeup area started selecting numerous makeup items. Um I began surveillance because of how quickly she selected it. uh she placed on top of her purse and then she went and she selected a black Kate Spade handbag and put that in the shopping cart that she had with her. Um she then while in the accessories department all the makeup purse um it was a blue purse I believe and then they uh exited the department both both subjects uh went into men's shoes. the older subject that still had that purse in the cart attempted to remove a sensor couldn't do it. So, >> do you know what she used to try to remove it >> at that time? No. >> Okay. >> Um, they both went into women's shoes. >> So, she was just trying to pull it off. Okay. Gotcha. >> They both went into women's shoes. Um, the younger subject pulled a object. There was a silver um object out of her purse, gave it to the mom. She clipped the sensor off of the purse, gave it back to the daughter, the tool, and then she put it back in her purse. >> Okay. >> Um, then she took the purse and she put in the brown Nordstrom shopping bag that the daughter had. >> Okay. Did they bring that in with them, do you know? >> Um, they had it on them when I started watching. Okay. So, I believe so. Um, so then I still, you know, continued surveillance. Um then the mother, the older one, had a pair of brown uh sandals and she concealed it into her purse as well. Um then they exited the women's shoes, headed for the door and then once they were both outside the doors when I approached them, um identified myself >> completely outside the store. >> Yeah. Okay. >> On the sidewalk. No, identify myself, who I was, and then gone back into the store. >> And you did see them clearly cut the sensor off. >> Okay. >> Stop recording. >> Right on. All right, perfect. Appreciate your time. Thank you. >> Before I speak to you about what happened today, um I do have to read your account. Okay. Um so you just need to make sure I need to make sure that you understand what I'm saying. Any statement can be and will be used against you in the court of law. Do you understand? Yes or no? Eight. Do you understand these rights as I have read them to you? Would you wish to speak to me? [clears throat] Okay. All right. So I'm searching for words. There's no way we could like speak inside or anything like that. >> We're going to talk right here. >> But for me, like my [clears throat] mom, it's not even my first time. So, I was saying like for me and my mom, it was like our first time. So, today all I did was like the makeup and even the bag like I wanted to buy it. So, they were saying that a security everything. That wasn't the case. And like if you look in the that bag has nothing in it. So what I came in was to return. That's all. So it was the makeup and the slides and uh the purse. But like if you guys want me to pay like I'll pay for everything right now. That's like what my mom was saying as well cuz truly like it was a mistake cuz we have like never done anything before and even with the the kitchen scissors and everything cuz our house is like so new and we were going to uh HomeG goods to buy the painting and we removed like a few of the paintings and everything and that was the only reason to hang them and stuff. I have literally not used them for anything like the security tags what they were talking about and even like the woman inside like she she knows and she's like I she saw it that there was no security tag or none of those things were like used to cut anything. >> Okay. So from what I understand you said that you come in you came in here to return. >> Yes. >> To return some items that you brought in. >> Yes. >> What were those items that you brought? >> Uh a pair of heels. >> Okay. Um. >> All right. So, what did you do after you went to return? >> I didn't go to return yet. >> You didn't return. >> No, I didn't. I didn't return it. Yes. >> The purpose was to return. >> Wait, you walked from the store? >> Sorry. >> You walked in the store? >> Yeah. >> What do you mean? Like, >> so you didn't So, originally you [clears throat] came here? >> Yeah. To return the >> So, cuz I'm a little >> That was the intention. Yes. >> Yeah. I'm just trying to understand. cuz we had never Yeah, cuz we had never done it before. Like that's why my mom was like so worried. >> Don't worry about that. Yeah, >> cuz it was like >> We want to talk about today. >> Yeah, cuz it was like such a mistake cuz like my age like the girls >> I understand. I get it. I know. >> So you came in to return, but you were in the store. >> Yes. >> Looking around, shopping around. >> Yes. >> For something else. >> Yeah. >> What were you looking for? Uh we were just looking around just if we liked anything. So we ended up liking like that bag and our intention was to buy it and then the makeup part where like that's when like the first mistake happened [clears throat] and like we took that and then >> so you're telling me that you took the makeup? >> Yes. >> Are you able to go around? >> Are you able to go around? Just apply in store for you took the makeup. Where did you place the makeup? Bonus purchase until the end. And then it was my mom kept me in the bag. I didn't touch it. Pacific time. Ask any team member for details. >> Subject to credit approval. >> Her um personal bag. >> So she put it in her bag. Yes. Okay. You guys took it initially, right? Yes. >> Is that what you're telling me? Yes. >> All right. So you grab the makeup, put in your phone. >> Yes. >> Okay. What happened after that? >> Those were the only things. Yes. >> And that bag, your own personal bag or the bag that they >> bag I think that it was like the Michael Kors bag, right? >> Kate Spade. >> Kate Spade. >> Yeah. >> It was that bag that you had the makeup inside. So, there's a Kate Speed bag in there, right? >> I'm just like being like completely honest. You like >> No. And I appreciate that. I really do. I I really do >> cuz I'm telling you like it's a mistake. So, like I don't want like anything to like cuz I'm just being completely honest. I don't want anything to be like you cuz like it's like really like our first time and we just want to go home cuz my brother is like right now just want to go home. >> All right, we're just we're just figuring this out. Okay. Um >> good. Okay. Um real quick, so do you remember what time you got to the store? >> No. Okay. When you came in, you said you had that pair of shoes with you. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, when I watched that video and you came in without a pair of shoes. >> You didn't come into the store with a pair of shoes. >> Yes. I came in with Yeah. >> That's not what the video shows. >> No, I'm telling you. I'm being truthful. >> Okay. So, you come in with a pair of shoes. >> It went to my Nordstrom bag like at the >> So, you come in, you say with the pair of shoes, right? You said you guys went and looked at the makeup section, correct? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, did you select the makeup or did mom select the makeup? >> Mom. >> Mom. Okay. So, mom selected the makeup. Do you know exactly what she took? >> I'm not sure. >> Okay. Was the makeup for you? >> Do you mind going around for me? >> Just give us a minute, please. So, she selected the makeup. Who was the makeup for? >> Not for me. >> It was not for you. But you knew she was taking the makeup. >> Yeah, I had I had a first like we >> Did you guys discuss that she was going to take the makeup? >> No, nothing like this. Like our intention was to buy everything like even even the bags cuz we always I come in and I always buy and everything. >> She never done it before. >> She grabs the makeup, right? Where does she put the makeup? >> It's on the cart. >> On the cart. >> Yeah. Okay. >> The whole time. She didn't put it in her bag >> in I think in the last moment >> that she put it in the bag. >> Her purse, correct? Not the purse that you got from the store, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, she puts it in her purse after she puts it in her purse. >> Actually, I'm not sure cuz I think it's I'm I'm not sure from where I think it's the bag either or that cuz I didn't see. >> That's fine. So, you guys are at the makeup section. Once you leave the makeup section, where do you guys go? >> Uh, we were just checking the shoes. >> Okay. Which shoes? Men's or women's? >> We checked the men's shoes. >> Okay. So, you're in the men's shoes section. What happens next? >> Uh, we just take a pair of slides just as a gift >> and Yeah, that's it. >> Okay. So, you take a pair of slides as a gift. Where do you put the slides? >> In the cart. >> In the cart. Okay. From there, where do you go? >> I think we just look around some clothes and then uh we went in in just the shoes area. That's it. So you went to look at other clothes and then you came back to the shoe area >> just like in that same shoe area. >> Okay. So the clothes next to the shoe area. >> Yeah. Just not looking into the clothes or nothing like that. >> Okay. So after you do that, what do you do next? >> Just in the shoes area. >> Okay. What do you do after that? >> So you look in the shoe area. What do you do after that? >> I think that's what that's what happened with my mom. I think cuz our our intention was like to pay like >> Okay. So I'm going to pause you right there. So you guys are in the shoe area. What do you guys do next? Do you go somewhere else in the store or do you leave the store? >> Sorry, what do you mean? >> After you were in the shoe area? >> Yeah. >> Do you continue looking around in the store or do you do something else? >> We were in the shoe area and then before leaving I I guess that's when she took it. >> Took what? >> The um makeup. >> The makeup. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So you guys are in the shoe area. I'm just want to see what the next step is. Where did you guys go after that? So, you're in the shoe area. Pretty >> scared. >> It's okay. We're just having a conversation, that's all. So, I've been respectful with you and you've been honest with me and I appreciate that. Right. We're going to get this over with and and dealt with. Okay. So, you're in the shoe area. Yeah. >> Where do you go after the shoe area? >> We're just in the shoe area. >> What do you do after that? Cuz obviously we're here now. Something happened in between. >> So, yeah, I think that's when she took it and then after the shoe area, that's when we were leaving. >> That's when you left. Yeah. >> Okay. So, you walked out the front door? Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. And did you get in line at all? Did you get in line to pay for anything? >> No, but that's when we were going through like that front area. >> Yep. >> And that's when I guessed Yes. Like I was thinking about like, oh, I'm going to go return. But >> So, you were thinking about returning. Were you thinking about paying for the items that you guys had? >> That's what we had first in our mind to >> Okay. So, you were thinking about paying for it. Okay. So, what happened between thinking about paying for it and leaving without paying? Did you guys have a conversation saying, "No, I'm not I'm just not going to pay." Or what happened there? >> It wasn't like my like I took anything. I It was mostly like my mom. >> It was just your mom that took everything, >> but I was there. So I I like I'm >> So you knew that she had took the items. Okay. So you never got in line. You never attempted to pay for the items? >> I was having a conversation with her like about the returning the shoes. >> Okay. >> Cuz And then I just we walked out. >> Okay. So, you never attempted to pay for the items? You never got in line to pay for them. You just left without >> We were having the conversation about like let's pay like before putting anything in about returning and cuz we hadn't put anything before. It was at the last minute. >> Okay. So, you had a conversation about paying for the items and then you guys decided not to pay for them, right? So, you walked out the door, you passed all points of sale, didn't attempt to pay for anything. Correct. >> At the last one, like we we wanted to pay like >> but you didn't. Correct. Okay. Got it. So, you got outside the store and that's when the loss prevention officer stopped you, correct? Okay, let's talk about all of the screwdrivers, clippers, all that stuff, the scissors. >> What's all that for? >> Okay, so even if you see the bag, none of the items had any security tags or nothing cuz >> I can tell you right now, and we're being honest, and I'm going to level with you because this isn't my first day, right? >> All of the high-end bags that they have here all have security tags. I'm I know >> it did. I'm going to tell you it did have a security tag. So, listen to me. Don't talk over me. Okay. So, >> the security the bag that you guys had had a security tag on it. Okay. I'm asking you to be honest with me because it's obvious that you guys came in here with those tools to do something with them, right? You didn't just come in here with a bunch of tools. Nobody goes shopping with clippers and wire clippers and all that stuff, right? So, >> let's follow the bouncing ball. What were you guys coming in here with the clippers for? Was it to cut tags off of purses? No. >> Okay. So, who cut the tag off the purse? >> I'm I'm telling you like 100% like you can check the video. Like >> I did you >> and I I talked to I talked to the loss prevention officer. >> Yeah. The the the guy he thinks there was a tag in it. >> The girl like I told her like can you please check again that bag like literally all of them has like a wire into each of the bags and stuff. That bag did not have anything and my mom picked it up and we didn't even first see if it had any tag or anything cuz we didn't have the intention of like >> So, do you want me to tell you what he told me? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, that mom's holding the bag. >> She tried to cut the wire for the uh anti- theft or anti-shoplifting device when you guys were at a different section in the store. When you guys went to the shoe section, you handed her clippers, she cut it, and you guys left. Is that accurate? >> No. the it's it's the shoe area where we took it, but none of the things were cut. Like, I'm being completely honest. That bag did not have anything in it. Like, no security. >> You've been honest with me thus far, so I'm it's a little frustrating for me when you're lying to me about cutting the the anti- theft device off of it. >> I'm telling you, like I have not >> Okay. >> the entire time. I'm being honest. Like, if you check that bag did not have any type of tag in it. I'm just so that you're aware. >> He's saying he watched you guys do it. Right. No, I have video of you guys doing it. Right. So, you're saying you didn't do it, which that's fine. You have every right to say you didn't do it. But, >> but I'm being really honest too. >> Okay. >> The bag did not have it. >> Okay. And that's fine. Again, you didn't make any attempt to pay for any of these items. Correct. >> I like >> you didn't because you didn't pay for them, right? >> Right. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> I understand. >> You said that you've done this before, correct? But just with makeup. >> No, no, no. I'm saying it's my first time. I'm saying it's my first time with I've done the makeup thing like the makeup. You have taken makeup before. >> Emmer, you said that to me. You said that you've done you've taken makeup before. >> No, I'm talking about that certain makeup. That's what I'm saying. Like my mom has never done anything. >> So mom's never shoplifted before. You're saying you've taken makeup? >> I'm saying that the first thing I went to the makeup section and she chose everything. So I'm saying the makeup was like the first idea. Like that's where we went the bag and everything. We planned on buying it. >> Okay. But you didn't. >> No. >> So >> yeah, >> your intent was to never buy anything. Correct. Because you left without paying. >> I understand. But the bag and the shoes, it was like intention to pay. But I'm saying my intention. >> So you were going to buy the shoes, too. >> What shoes? >> You just said it was the intention to buy the shoes and the bag. >> Yeah. The slides and the bag. It was intention like we're going to go buy. But for me, like my mom took the makeup as like a gift for someone else and I'm saying like for that it was like my first time. So doing the makeup. So that's what I said. Not that I've done it before. I've never done it before. I was speaking about the makeup over there. >> That's fine. Um >> I'm sorry if like that was bad back real quick and see if they have anyone. If not, we're just going to use her. >> If we can't get someone to translate for your mom, right? Are you able to translate for her so we can speak to her as well? She can like she can try >> she can understand >> she can she she can understand most of the stuff like most stuff you're saying and she can try her breath speaking English >> okay >> cuz I have >> me and her like we have never done it before and even like the tool cutter I'm telling you cuz we have recently moved >> three months ago right? Yeah, a few months. >> But you keep >> all those tools in your bag >> randomly. >> I understand. Like it looks >> It doesn't make sense to me, right? Like I said, this isn't my first day. It's not It's not normal for people to walk around with clippers and scissors and all these things when you walk into a store and it's very clear that you guys are shoplifting, but you're saying that has nothing to do with what you're doing. Even though I have someone saying that they watched you clip it off and they have video of you doing it. So, it's just it just baffles me when you say, "Well, no, that didn't happen." when it's very clear >> cuz it's black and white. You know what I mean? Like it's very clear. >> I'm telling you like the bag like >> nothing. >> No, the I said FAU said no. The said no. They're going to call back. So >> that's fine. We'll just have her translate for him. Um so we'll go back in. >> Okay. Yep. Back to you. We're going to walk back in here. >> Yeah. >> I'm going to take you and Officer Coon's going to take you. We're going to bring you in the vehicles and bring you back to the police station. Okay, >> you guys are under arrest. You're not going home. You're going to jail. Okay, you guys. >> Ma'am, please. >> Nope. Listen to me. Okay, you're under arrest. You're going to jail. You have to come with us. Okay, you shoplifted all those items. You didn't pay for them and you cut the tag off the bag. Okay, I'm not going to argue with you. That's what the the evidence shows. Okay, so tonight you are coming with us. Okay, stop talking and listen to me. Nope, just listen. Like she said, you guys are going to come with us. We're going to go in the car. We're going to go to our booking facility while we do some paperwork. Okay? Once we get there, the handcuffs are going to come off and you'll hang out until we're done. Okay? And then you're going to go to the Palm Beach County Jail. Your sister is watching over your brother until all this is done. And she knows she knows what's going on. >> You guys are going to go you guys are going to get released most likely tomorrow morning. I told her everything. >> There's nothing you can say. There's no apology. There's no right now. That's what changes. >> All right. >> So, you need to stand up. >> Stand up for us. >> Stand up. >> All right. >> We're going to walk out together. Okay, >> we're going to walk. >> The student and her mother were charged with grand theft after investigators reviewed surveillance footage, recovered stolen merchandise, and gathered evidence showing that the pair had used tools to remove security tags from items before attempting to leave the store without paying. As the investigation continued, detectives determined that the student had also been involved in similar thefts at other store locations in the surrounding area. By comparing surveillance footage, witness statements, and store records from multiple incidents, investigators were able to link her to a broader pattern of retail theft. Following the conclusion of the criminal investigation and court proceedings, immigration authorities reviewed the student's status because she was in the United States on an F1 student visa. The findings of the investigation, including her involvement in multiple theft incidents across several store locations, were considered during the immigration review. As a result of the immigration proceedings, the student was deported and required to leave the country. On June 8th, 2025, officers were dispatched to a public store after reports that three teenagers had repeatedly stolen large amounts of merchandise from the business. Investigators later determined that the person allegedly responsible for organizing the thefts was their own mother. >> Drop back windows. >> Windows down. >> Blow down. >> Yeah. >> You roll them all down. >> You guys film from Publix. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. On. >> Yeah. The one on community right there. >> Yeah. >> Where you pulled out of? >> Uhhuh. >> Okay. So, why are we getting a call for you guys out of there? >> Do you favor the front? >> Yeah. >> Wow. >> Five people in there. >> You put me in the car? >> Yeah. I'm putting you next to your car. >> Four. There's five of you and two of us. Don't want you running off. >> Oh, I close the door. >> I ain't taking nothing out of that store. >> Okay, sit tight. Driver's license, ID cards, nothing. >> No. It's actually not how that works. But >> I'm find I'm not answering that. Oh, well, you got to tell us your information. >> You don't got to answer what's called incriminating questions, but you do got to answer our questions about who you are, or else that's another charge. So, stick your battles here. There's There's one more in the car. I got one in the car. I got one in the car. Hop out. Walk right here. Yep. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. What? >> That was it. >> Can I sit outside? I can't breathe anymore. >> I'll cut the I'll cut the ear off for you. All right. Chill seat. >> Can I tell you what happened? I ain't take nothing out of the kids took something. They called me and said that the man was following them and I came out the store. I walked out the store empty-handed. I didn't take that matter. >> Let me just read some to you and then I'll ask whatever questions you got to ask. >> Yeah. Find out. Find that out. >> Uh you have the right to remain silent not answer any questions. You understand? >> Am I under? >> You're detained right now, but I got to read you before I can ask you questions. >> Am I do you not not right now? You're not detained. >> Not. >> So I'm trying I got to read you before I can ask you questions. Okay. >> So do you understand that one? >> Yeah. Okay. Any statement you make must be freely voluntarily given. You understand? >> You have the right to the presence and representation of a lawyer of your choice before you make any statement during any question. Do you understand? >> If you cannot afford a lawyer, you are entitled to the present representation of court appoint lawyer before you make any statement during any question. You understand? >> Yes. >> If at any time during the interview you're not wish to answer any questions, you're privileged to remain silent. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> I can make no or promises to induce you to make a statement. This must be given of your own free will. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> Any statement can't be and will be against you in a court of law. Do you understand? >> No. >> Okay. >> All right. So, you were saying what did the kids text you? >> No. They called me and told me that he said take something out of their bag. And I said, "What you talking about?" And then they was like, "Well, just come on." I was like, "I'm not coming out there right now." Cuz I had a whole basket full of stuff that I was in the bottle with my weight cuz I was getting my baby milk. >> They was like, "Just come on." So I went out the store and they it was like he was following them and I was like, "All right, I got to go." So I left. I didn't I walked out of that empty hand. Y'all could check the cameras at that store. I walked out of that empty hand. I didn't have >> Yeah, cuz they called in about everyone walking out without paying for. I didn't walk out with them. >> They walked out by walked out. Did you walked out separately? >> Yes, I walked cuz I was two people left at a time and then two other people left. >> No, the two two of them left first. >> Okay. So, what in the car? What in the car? Do you have receipts for stuff you paid for in the car? >> Yeah. >> Okay. One in the car is not paid for. >> I I don't I don't know. >> You whatever they took. >> Yeah. I really don't know. I got my receipts for all my stuff. >> Okay. All right. Just watch the leg. I'm just going to go for take care. >> All right. I got all the beauty products. Basically, they took a lot of them, right? >> Yeah. They they >> the black bag was full. >> Yeah. They they basically loaded it in the cart first. They went down another aisle. As they're going to the other aisle, they stuffed it from the cart in their black bag which was sitting where the baby area is of the cart and he just started like bars of soap, Irish Spring, obviously >> all that stuff. >> Yeah. And he just literally went from one to the other started chucking stuff. Went to the cereal aisle. the cereal and then and then they went >> Yeah. And then they went into the cereal aisle where they started chucking the stuff in the cereal aisle into the black bag. >> Cereal aisle. So >> they loaded the cart. They put it in the cart. Then they walked to the cereal aisle with a cart. As they were in the cereal aisle, they opened the black bag and started putting their beauty products in there kind of concealing like they were shopping. >> Yeah. >> And they use that aisle to conceal the hide where they're as they're loading stuff into the bag, they can probably go and conceal them. >> Okay, sounds good. And then looks like they went to the back where the uh the refrigerators were. That's probably where they got the rolls. >> Perfect. >> Okay. >> All right. Thanks. >> All right. >> Today at 400. >> Yeah. So they just Publix on North Lake and stole stuff from there too probably. >> Yeah. And you said they were going through the health and stuff in the flight pack. So there back. Yeah. Then they dumped it all in here. >> They're probably going to hit another one. How may they dig that stuff back and see if they Is there a way you think they can? >> Yeah, they can. Yeah, they can do a uh what's called a uh test receipt. >> All right. >> So, this is not all from home. I can guarantee it. All that stuff. >> Let me see if Let me take Let's take him back. Get the video. Maybe you can look in video and get a tally of everything I was taking off the shelves. At least we can get whatever right now. We got 10 subsc PD over to the North Lake Publix where you guys just came from like an hour and a half ago to see if you guys pulled from there too cuz I know you bought donuts there. This is the only receipt you have. So, I highly doubt you went there, got donuts, and then came over to this Publix to buy candy with no receipt. Also, all five of you going in there is a felony. It's not misdemeanor anymore, by the way. It doesn't matter how much you have. You just pull a candle bar together and get the felonies. >> Two or more. That's your mom. >> Perfect. She'll go for even more felonies. You're contributing speed to a minor. >> Ael. Ael. >> Ael. Ael. >> Felony. >> Felony. I can't get enough. Fairly >> organized scheme to defraud. >> It's second degree felony. Punishable by up to 10 years in prison. >> I don't care how y'all get how y'all get char got things added to that one day. >> You got video of the whole thing. >> No one. >> Yeah. How many you saw if they got video? >> Huh? >> How many you saw if they got video? I saw today's video and I saw pictures from the other times. >> Why is he taking pictures for what? He pictures without our permission. >> You're in a private business. He can take all the pictures he wants. >> Just like somebody can pull up right now and start taking pictures of you. I can't stop you. >> You're in a public place. >> Did you say that to him, too? >> No. >> Why not? What you going to hat? >> No, I know why you pull me. Put that on. >> You don't like my hair? >> No. >> I got no gel in it. >> Look like you know you already like >> huh? >> What you wear? White. >> What do I look like? >> No. Like culture. >> Culture. >> Yeah. >> Irish. Italian. German. >> You look German. >> Canadian. >> Canadian. >> Yeah. >> You got no black? >> I don't know. >> I bet everybody got everything in it. That's >> nowadays. Everybody's got everything. >> That's right. >> I probably do. >> Oh, >> you know, I'm not one 1% in the world for listening to Kodak Black. >> You know, you you guys have Spotify? >> Yeah, we know who Black is. >> Yeah. All right. I know. I know. You know, >> everybody knows who that is. >> I just got to take a photo. You're [clears throat] not getting out. Can I still have some t-shirt? >> Yeah. Go ahead. No, no. She's just standing up for a second. I got it. I got it. >> I got it. I'm just let her stand up. >> I got him. >> The mother and her three daughters were all collectively charged with felony scheme to defraud, and the mother herself was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Officers responded to a report of an employee intentionally damaging a co-worker's vehicle at their workplace. >> Officer Ivy, legal police department. Just be advised obviously audio and video recording. >> Absolutely. >> How did I do it? >> Um you want to see the video first or >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, >> while I watch that, what's your relation to the person? >> This is my wife. Um well, this is my truck. My wife drives it. the relationship to the person. Um, I don't there is no relationship to the person. Um, they work together. Um, but my wife doesn't really associate with anybody. She just does a job and goes home. >> So, I don't know what's going on, but my vehicle's been getting scratched. And I'm talking I wash it like once a week, but I mean it's getting scratched. So, we kind of rigged it up to I got dash cam and stuff for it. Um, but she kind of rigged up some crap for her phone to record, right? So, we got some recordings and then today if you want to >> I can see a picture. >> And then there'll be a truck that passes and then she walks right up. >> There's a truck and caught her. It's on that side. There she is. And >> I don't know. No idea. Anyways, so it's all along here, >> here. >> Oh, wow. >> Here, here. >> You said it happens down there. >> It happens here. >> Oh, in this parking lot. >> I don't know if it's in this parking lot. These were the couple days ago. This was Wednesday of last week. This was Monday. So then Tuesday she rigged up everything to catch her right here. And this is what she just did today. >> And I'm assuming the only video that you have so far right now is just that one. >> That one. >> Okay. >> But the on Wednesday she she's with the food. Um they park over there. So my wife drives over here. So Wednesday um the girl got sent to the clerk's construction area. Um, and my wife seen her running away from the truck and she's like, "Weird." So when she came over here and parked, she just got out and looked and seen this. So then the big one. >> So the same girl that just walked up and scratched that and did that on Monday. So but she's been tearing up my truck. >> Is your How do you guys know her name? think if he has a >> she works so she knows and then I Facebookked her >> and she lives two doors down from my dad just right down the road. So I know where she lives. I know who she is. I grew up with her. She doesn't know who I am. She doesn't know my wife. Um but yeah, that's as far as I got. The the story I'm telling you is a story I know, too. They they work together. They don't talk to each other. My wife doesn't sit with anybody. She goes in the truck, reads her Bible on lunch. She doesn't associate with anybody. She does a job and goes home. But it's been happening and we finally called her. >> So basically to your knowledge, just completely unprovoked. >> No idea. And my wife's been here almost a year and I think she's been here about 6 months is what my wife said. So, but I mean that's that there's no buffing the stuff out. I mean that that's that's a paint job >> throughout the entire truck. >> Yes. Like from the front to the rear the whole you can't I know it's black but I don't know. I I work on cars. I've painted cars. There's 30 different colors of black. So the whole truck has to be repainted. You can't just blend here and blend there and blend this and buff that. Like the whole truck needs to be repainted. You would say your estimate was above $5,000 is your estimate? >> Oh, yeah. I mean, with the prices of gas, you know, how much everything else is, you know, is >> it's going to be expensive. >> Then where exactly does she work? Like, is there like a specific >> They work in the food area. Um, cafeteria, food aid, I guess I would say. My wife's name is Deanna Diaz. D E A N A D I A Z. Dude, I I had to go out and spend like 600 bucks on this freaking dash cam and rear cam and Oh man, >> that didn't even catch it. >> That didn't even catch it. It's her little 2019year-old iPod that got it. It's crazy. >> Do you think the um the person who scratched it will be working now as well? >> I don't know. I as far as I know, I think my wife said that their supervisor probably called her in and she is going to get fired. But I do want to press charges. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. really quickly. I think that's her. So, one second. Yep. Hello. >> What >> are you on? Are you Where are you? >> I'm here with the truck with the police. >> Okay. >> Just I'm glad that you're with the police. Um I just want to say just stay calm and collected when you're out here, okay? Because I don't I I don't want to end up getting in trouble for you going out of control, okay? >> I'm not I'm fine. >> He's doing a great job. [laughter] given the circumstances. >> This is this is this place right here is no joke. I don't want to get in trouble, but I I my I am I am just as mad as you guys are. So, I do appreciate the police coming out and and doing something about it because I will be pressing charges and this will stop. >> Yeah. Well, yeah. Now, is she still here or did she get sent? >> She is still here currently, but I believe that my bosses are keeping it on the download for a minute. so she can finish her job today because they are short staffed serving these patients here. So, they will be getting to her as far as having a talk with her. >> Well, the police want to talk to her. >> 5:30 or 5:45 want to talk to her, too. >> That's fine. But unfortunately, what time is it? It is only first serve right now. And there's another serve that we have to serve at about 510. She normally gets done with her serve very quickly at like 5:45. I know that's kind of late, but you guys would have to sit there for quite some time waiting for her. Her vehicle that she drives is a it's like a goldish looking um Mercury. It's a Mercury. >> Oh, it's a >> It is a Mercury. And she I don't know where she's parked, but she is on this side of the hospital where I am parked currently. Um her license plate, if I can remember, I think it has Oh, Lord help me. I think it's like has an X in a Q in it. Uh but that's all I can remember. But right now, um I wish that I was able to be out there with you guys, but I am actively working. >> No, you're fine, honey. Don't worry about it. >> And she is working right now. So, if the police will be patient enough to wait till 5:45, the latest. >> Hey, >> how's it going, ma'am? >> Hi, >> Officer Ivy. Liquid Police Department. Do you mind out of your pockets for me? >> Yeah, sure. >> Okay, fine. >> Let's come over. >> It's out of your pockets. You don't have to like show me what's in your pockets or anything right now. My pockets must be bad. So, you have no idea why we're here today? Uh, >> no. Just a call from my boss. That's >> You want to have a seat here? >> Okay. Sure. >> Well, the reason why we were called here today, >> okay, >> was cuz it looks like somebody's been keying a vehicle. Black vehicle in the parking lot down there. >> A black ve uh I don't know what that means. What do you mean keyed? >> Hm. >> What do you mean key? >> Like keyed. grab your key and you swipe a vehicle, >> scratching the paint, scratching the property, damaging it. >> It's not mine. So, I don't know why. >> Would you be surprised if I told you that they had a camera in the window pointed right at the mirror across the vehicle and you could see you walking up to the vehicle? >> Mhm. >> Sliping it with the key >> on video. I have not. Uh, >> okay. >> You're saying that wasn't you, though? >> Not No, not me. I was literally on my way to the ward. I was literally just on my way to the board. >> So, this has been occurring over the past couple of weeks. >> Okay. >> You're on video doing it. So, this can kind of go one of two ways. If we think you're lying and we're just going to play through the game, then we're just going to handle it and not still always be respectful, but we're just going to go to jail and that's just going to be the end of it. You like to have an open and honest conversation and quit lying. We can ask some questions. We'll figure out why this is occurring cuz obviously going to stop occurring. >> Mhm. >> And then we'll see if we can try to come up with an outcome that's best for everybody. >> Okay. >> Does that make sense? >> Okay. >> A little bit. >> A little bit. Okay. So, let's redo the whole entire conversation. Okay. >> What is going on between you and her that we're all pissed off at each other? >> Uh, literally, I don't know. She's been like saying some stuff about me. >> Okay. >> And I don't know what it is. I don't know if she's getting at me, but for her just to say some things. It's just like wrong. >> She just like talking. >> Yeah. Like looking at me and stuff like that and just makes me like uncomfortable. >> And then just to clarify, who is she? Uh, >> just make sure we're talking about the same person here. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Again, I have nothing against her, but if she wants to keep talking like that, then I have no I have I'll just talk to her manually without her complaining and going to you guys about certain things. >> But do you think that would have been a lot better option versus keeping her car over the past two weeks? >> Yeah. Uh that was I know I if I me if I did if I can't talk if it was me doing I mean was me doing that I apologize I'll go up to her and apologize but if if it's just little things and whatnot >> it's not just little things and no offense I'm not lying to you. It's it's not a ruse or a lie. They literally have set up surveillance inside the truck. They have cameras on all the windows. Not like the dash cam in the front and the back. They literally went out, bought cameras and taped them to all sides of the windows. You're literally on camera walking up, approaching the car, and then scratching it and then walking away. That's why we're here. There's multiple scratches all over the car that have not been there. And every time they come to work throughout these two weeks, there's more and more scratches occurring on this car. She also saw you when she was walking out at the truck and then running away from the truck back to your car. All right. >> Okay. Well, I'll apologize to her. It's just literally just with her cuz she's been saying stuff about me and my other friend that works here and I don't know what this is about. She feels threatened. I'll leave her alone if that's the case, but I don't want to be near her. >> You guys have HR and stuff, right? >> Yeah, we do. >> Yeah. Right. Do you think that would have been a way better option if she was talking crap and then that offended? >> That would have been probably >> That would have been a better way instead of just calling you guys and just having >> I'm not saying that. You probably did $5,000 worth of damage to their car. Yeah. >> To fix it, the whole thing's got to be repainted. >> This isn't just words and she's talking smack about me and me and my friend and we're upset. Now you're at the point you're literally committing a felony crime of property damage to get back at her all because she's saying words. I'm not saying that she's allowed or should be able to talk crap, but this is something you just bring up to HR. Hey, I'm having these issues with an employee. This is what is going on. I would like this to stop. Then what happens? HR gets involved and HR tells her, "Knock it off." And then guess what? Your problem is solved. And nobody committed any crime. >> Okay. >> And now we have the police involved and you're potentially looking to going to jail for this. All because somebody said words. Doesn't put you in a very good spot, does it? >> No. >> No. >> I understand. >> Um I'll do whatever it takes to leave her alone or pay or whatever. I just don't want to camp her. All I'm really doing is just to do my job. Leave her alone. That's it. >> I know. But we're not doing it. We're out here scratching her vehicle every time she parks it. That's now the convention. >> Wait here with my partner. Let me go talk to somebody. You see now it's a class B felony. So misdemeanor, gross. Class C, class B. It's only one higher crime above it, that's like murder, just class A. But this, if it amounts to 5,000, do you know what she was even saying or was it just I've heard she's talking [ __ ] or do you know what she's actually saying that made you well that sad to do that? >> It's just threatening things she said about me and mostly my friend and just, you know, just everything. Now, if this was happening for 2 weeks, she should have literally came to the side and told me herself instead of everything. >> See what they want to do about the situation? >> Yeah. >> Did you have any questions? >> I mean, >> or anything on top of your head right now because I'm really feeling uncomfortable and I would hate to get fired over this thing. Like I said, if they're willing to not press charges, really just don't want to happen again. I just don't want her to just just I don't want to talk to her. Just do whatever. I would hate to like go to jail for something awful because intentionally I'm not like this at all. And to me, this is just a little ridiculous. Again, she should have just tell me about it herself oneonone. >> Were we using a key or a coin or what were we doing to scratch our car? I was just literally just using this. I was this. I was upset. I was irritated. And again, she should have just talked to me and just figured everything out instead of all this. >> But also, to be fair, you should not have done the damage you. You could have been one to also try to communicate with her, [snorts] right? >> I was. And I was I guess I was scared to the fact that she would do something to me cuz I don't know her like that. >> Well, she doesn't know you like that either. And you're out actually destroying her car. So, no offense. Playing a victim card here doesn't really work. You're the one doing this. She didn't do anything to you other than say words, right? >> Yeah. >> Well, lucky enough for you. >> Mhm. >> This is what we're going to do. If we wanted to and we really wanted and she wanted to be a jerk, you're at felony law. We could arrest and put you in the first county jail. Sorry. For felony vandalism. >> Okay. But lucky enough for you, we're going to keep this the lowest route possible. >> Yeah. >> So, we are going to write a police report. It's going to get forwarded off to Lakewood Prosecutor's Office. And if they want to go forward and do it, then you are going to get a letter in the mail saying, "Hey, we're charging you with this crime. Here's your court date. Please show up at this court date. If you don't, you end up with a warrant for your arrest." >> Okay. So, just can I get a better understanding cuz I have like this disability type of thing and I need like to somewhat break it down. Just repeat everything you said. You said, "Luckily for you, I got that part." But >> could have been a big deal. >> Yeah. >> We're keeping it the lowest deal possible, trying to be nice. Luckily, that's their decision, >> right? >> After you scratch the [ __ ] out of the car, >> right? >> Okay. >> So, your address, it's on your driver's license, correct? >> Yeah. Yeah. What address you still live there? >> Yeah. The 85. >> We're writing a police report that goes to our prosecutor's office. If they're going to charge you with the crime, cuz that's up to the prosecutor's office. They're going to send you a letter in the mail that's going to say, "Hey, you're being charged with this crime. Here's your court date. You need to show up to court to start this process." Okay? If you don't show up, then they just send a warrant out for your arrest and then you eventually come find you and then you just automatically go to jail on the warrant and then sit there until you have your court date or you bail out and then if you don't show back up then all the money you put into bail >> goes to the city. >> I see. >> Okay. >> I see. Okay. >> Okay. >> Any questions with that so far? >> No. Okay. >> I'm just trying to process a little bit. I don't know what's going to happen between you and Western State and bosses and everything else. Please, for the love of God, do not talk to her. Don't engage with her. No more keen cars. >> Yeah. >> No more doing stupid stuff. >> Yeah. I just tried I just try to avoid everybody. Literally, this is a typical day. Usually, when I'm done with work, I just go ahead and cart until everybody's released just to avoid drama. Just processing everything a little bit. >> No more stupid stuff, please. >> Yes, sir. >> All right. Go talk to your boss. Figure out what's going on next. >> All right. Thank you. The woman was charged with seven counts of felony vandalism.
