I am leaving. I called the landlady. I called y'all originally. She off her meds. >> Okay. >> I'll leave it to you. >> Do you know who called us? Oh, you did. Okay. >> The landlady >> Well, if you want to wait for me, I want to talk to her. >> wait till me and her I'm not letting her ruin my night. I'm just ignoring her. The landlady said she was going to talk to her husband and handle it, but >> So, what's the what's the issue? >> She just has to talk to the with the landlady. She's being difficult. She's trying to be difficult. She's just off the rails. >> And what What's your Do you have your ID license on you real quick? >> I don't even know this person. I just moved in like a week ago. >> Okay. Have you had any no issues with her before today? >> I don't know who she is. Uh no, she's been like harassing everyone here. That's why I'm the landlady. >> Did you say you just moved in a week ago? >> Yeah. >> And did you guys just arguing over something? >> I don't know what she's I don't know her. She's arguing because she's unhappy that she's getting kicked out because she's a nightmare. >> Okay. Have you been having issues with >> I don't know who she is. >> Okay. >> I know her reference >> Which one do you live in? >> I live in the middle one. >> Number one? Okay. All right. >> But, I'll call the landlady and tell her to come over right away. >> Okay. All righty. Thank you. So, what's basically going on? >> Okay. So, yesterday I actually asked if the landlord could do anything about her because she's like schizophrenic, has said that the other neighbor has stolen her cat, saying that everybody's poisoning her. >> I'm just going off of what did she do today to get her out? >> She's like tackling in my face when I'm walking by to put out the trash and then calls my landlord >> Okay. >> and complains about me and I'm just I'm over it. Every This other lady will not even stay here anymore because of her. >> Okay. >> She thinks everybody's trying to poison her. She just moved in. >> So, you guys >> Yeah. >> Just uh ma'am ma'am ma'am, let me talk to her. All right. It's on. Just you hang out by your apartment. I'll be over in a minute, okay? >> The other neighbor moved out on Sunday because of this. >> so basically >> won't even stay here and still pay his lease. >> What was the call for today? >> The call today is because my landlord said to call you guys, and when I was on the phone, they said, "Yeah, we're just going to send an officer out over this." >> Okay, that just >> harassment. It's harassment. Yeah, and actually this is the letter that I've already served to my landlord, and then it's getting it's already filed with court. So, she has 7 days. Yep, mhm. >> Okay. So, you guys are just in kind of in a little verbal argument? >> No. >> What are you arguing about? >> It's because she will she will not stop harassing me. It goes on all day long when I'm trying to work. I have like five pages of stuff where she's just this month. >> So, tell me how she's harassing you. >> Um she's banging on my door, constant calls, constant emails. Like I work at I used to work right here, and I had to move my desk upstairs cuz it was so crazy. This one will not stop smoking constantly. >> what's she banging on your doors for? >> All things. Just whatever. I mean, it's just craziness. So, I've already served her, and then that's filed with the court, so she'll get I think it happens Friday, tomorrow or day after tomorrow. >> Okay. All right. So, [clears throat] you guys are just >> But now now she is like take whatever with the landlord and trying to harass me too before the date set on Friday. And today was like cat doing weird stuff. It's just been going on all day. >> Talk to me. >> Yeah, it's just been going on all day. You know what I mean? So, it's like she just won't stay away from me, and it's constant. I can't even take my dog out. So, I was walking to the trash when this started. And the trash is right there. >> All right. Uh we'll just hang out over here, and we'll talk to her, and we'll figure something out. We go on your pad over here? >> Sure. I'm waiting for the landlady to get here, the proper owner of the property. >> Cuz you're being really taken down a primrose path, and landlord and her husband will straighten things out for you. >> But understand something, right? >> Yeah. >> I'm here to keep the peace between you all cuz this is a civil matter. I'm not going to sit here and wait for your landlord and my team. So, I want to talk to you. >> Sure. I have I don't know this girl from Adam. Who she is, I only know her reference of people where I used to live is the drug pushing guy that she hangs with. So, if you really want >> I'm not all worried about all that. I want to find out So, are you >> hanging out with people that I don't know. I only know of. Put it that way. >> Well, she can hang who with whatever she wants. She's an adult. >> She has no right to defame my character. >> Well, it's not defamation. Right now, you're going a little bit too far with this. What I'm trying to figure out is what are you doing or what is she doing that upsets you or upset her? >> I What she's What she's done to up see upset me in the beginning was trying to draw me into some sort of feud that she has with the girl in the front and the landlord. Trying to get me on her side. I don't know any of them, okay? Granted, so I was just the eternal diplomat. Nice to her, kind to her, invite her in. She helped me on my computer. My cat was missing. Thought everything was copacetic. Again, I don't know the history between all these people. I just moved in. But, I do know the landlord is a decent, kind person from what I can tell. Um I think when she saw me befriending the landlady or that we got on, that might have made her feel some kind of way. I don't know. Just people I do have a psychology major major for you laugh. I know how people are. But, when she got I guess reprimanded for some things. She has a cease and desist, I guess, from the landlady the landlord's husband. And he tried to bring that up to me and that Yeah, but I can't talk about it and I just finally said to her and this is on my text message on my phone. I said, "I don't know what kind of vendetta you have going with this woman and the landlord, but I want no part of it. I want no chaos, no drama." It's right here on my phone. I said, "I do not want to be involved with any of that negative energy. Period." That's the last conversation I had >> What was it today that upset you guys with Santa Claus? >> Well, she walked past the front of my you know, going to the trash. This is fine. But she's like glaring at me like this look from hell like like she's going to come through the screen and it so unnerved me that I laughed. I just chuckled. I went you know like she's something's wrong. And then she just went off and screamed, "I did you tell Stephanie or did you tell the landlord what you said about Stephanie?" Stephanie's that girl. I don't know what she's talking about. I just I didn't answer. I know better than to even play into it. I just kept on walking. >> and decide call the police. >> Mhm. >> And then I thought to myself, well, I owe it to my landladies to handle this before getting the police involved. So I told the police, "I'm going to call my landlord and let her know what's going on. If I need you guys, I'll call you back." So I called my landlady. She said she was going to talk to her husband to handle it. Then I'm on my way to go to a meeting and I hear her yelling, "She's the one." As I'm trying to leave the driveway and then here we are. I tried not to speak to her because I know better than to get involved in a situation that I know nothing about. >> Okay. >> Not involved in at all. What she's telling you about me is things she's either making up or has heard or things about her. I don't know, but I don't appreciate it. So I had known my legal rights. My husband my my husband my uncle is an attorney ex-mayor of Orlando. I know my and I have legal representation. That's why I hope that's on cuz what she did say just about me is defamation of character and slander. >> Okay. >> And this is Kim. Oh, she's just told him all kinds of stuff about me. So he's going to >> I'm assuming you're the landlord. >> Yes. >> Okay. I'll I'll I'll talk to you in a few guys in a few minutes. >> So that's the video. I have video of it too. So >> of the interaction before you got here when they were calling. >> Okay. >> And the audio because she was leaving me a voicemail at yelling at her. >> Yeah, I was screaming. >> All right. >> So it's all on It's on camera. >> Okay. Hello, sir. I'm Officer Escobedo, Venice Police. >> Eddie Johnson. >> Eddie Johnson. Do you have your license? >> Yes, I do, sir. >> I'll just need to get a fair information. So, what can you tell me about the situation? >> Well, um Katie has a >> Yeah, so Katie she just Okay. Okay. About the issue with her yelling at them and saying nasty things and things like that. She was in three, she just moved into five. Okay. >> Um >> So Thank you, sir. Okay. >> This is this camera What is the camera? >> Up there. And we just have them pointed to the parking lot, we said. But, um started about >> 6:20 >> I can't get my technology, man. I tell you. >> 6:20 >> Okay. And are you both co-landlords? >> Yes, ma'am. >> So, you So, you own it? And you just do what you're told? >> I do. I'm a handyman. >> You must be married. >> I'm very married. Okay, here it starts. That's the woman in five, Katie. Okay. She She's walking? >> She had dragged something to the street. >> Trash, maybe? >> Trash, yeah. Just a little >> Chair or something? >> see the stuff. And I have tremors, that's why I shake, so >> Tremors induced by your marriage? >> Yeah, that's a lot to do with that, yeah. So, you know, in a second it kind of starts. >> Some days >> So, Paige really wasn't saying anything to her. So, she takes this thing and takes something over here to this little trash can. Two. Two. This is that Katie? >> Yeah, she's saying something to her. And then She straight up there. So Katie and this lady are in conversation and she called her a liar. Okay, this is she said you're a liar and then then I said And she said something. Katie is a new tenant. Okay. And Stephanie got here and made a threat to kick her ass. Katie made the threat? >> Mhm. >> Okay. So Paige had initially called 911 when this is going on and decided to call us first. >> This is Paige. >> The 80s number five. >> Okay. Yeah. This is I thought I was running into adults, but >> [laughter] >> I'll be out of a job if everybody was an adult here. Here in a second is well, if you want, I don't know if you want to see that or hear that threat, but Yeah, kicking her ass is not really much we can do about that for us to deal with. But that's This has been an ongoing issue. >> working on Paige's apartment Uh Katie had gone over cuz she got mad at me when Stephanie moved in. I don't I don't understand anything cuz we used to be kind of friendly. And Paige told me that Katie told her that she was at war with those And I And she's like we were the And it was me and the lady and >> So from all the disruptions at Evan last Sunday, we served Katie with a 7-day notice to cure or vacate. >> Got you. >> So and then I just emailed her with this activity that happened here that it looks like we're going to have to proceed, you know, with the eviction on Monday. >> Okay. >> And that she's more than welcome I even offered that we'd let her out of her lease since she sounds like she doesn't really like living here. >> Right. >> So with all the disruptions, so we can even negotiate that and if she would like to leave and then we just let her out of the lease. >> I can't take part >> No, I know that, but that's kind of what I just sent her an email about that and that she has a 7-day notice to vacate or cure in which she hasn't cured anything as you can see today. So But that's where we're at since we were the owners and this is all happened, we thought we would >> Well, I now appreciate that cuz a lot of owners don't get that involved. But I appreciate the video cuz that definitely shows that who is the antagonist. >> we also had about a month ago we had a similar situation that we thought was brought on by my daughter and her partner. But now we see it was probably >> I can't tell you what direction to go. I can only tell you thank you for the information and I'll use that to talk to Katie, but you know, you got your routes with what what way you can go. I'm not going to do a No, I can give you a case report. >> Yeah. >> I'll give you my card and case report when I leave here so you know that we we're going to document it. I'm going to let Katie know that we are not going to do this anymore. >> Right. >> And we're not going to have this. We're going to be adults. It's a civil matter. If I have to come back out here cuz she's harassing her again, we'll we'll step it up. >> Okay. >> All right. And if you're okay with everything I said everything's fine. >> No, that's okay. >> Yeah, he could give us a case number and I will. And I'll be working all night. So >> Okay. >> I ain't going nowhere. >> It's a late shift. >> Cuz I'm married and I let her sleep. >> Hello. >> All right. I'll come talk to you in a second. Okay? >> Can I go to my car? >> Here's the email I sent yesterday at that store and then told me to call you. >> Well, let's go in here for a second. Let's talk about something. Okay? I understand you're under a lot of stress because you've been told to vacate. >> That's not true. >> Well, see he just told me you got an email that told you you're going to vacate. >> I didn't even know that I had an email that told me. Well, either way I'm not going to be here so I'm happy to leave. >> It's Katie? >> Yeah. >> I let you talk. I talked to them. Now I'm back here to talk to you. Here's the problem. You you don't get along with your neighbor. Your neighbor don't get along with you. You cannot walk past her her house and yell at her. But you initiated >> Did you see the lanai? >> You >> No, that's not true. That is not true. >> On the video what I watched is you walk by and initiate the conversation. >> That's not true. >> No. >> That is not true. >> Ma'am. >> That's not true. I know for a fact that I did not do that. >> Now here's let me finish. >> No, no. I did not do that. >> Now. What I'm telling you now is we're not going to have any more confrontation with them. You're going to stay in your area. She's going to stay in hers. You don't talk to her no more. She don't talk to you no more. >> not do that. >> Either way >> I guarantee you I did not do that. >> Either way at the end of the day okay? This is a civil matter. If you have a problem with your neighbors, you know what route you have to go. Your landlord is going through their route with their issue with you. >> Yes. >> I know yeah I know you're under a lot of stress and all the issues. >> I'm just tired of being harassed all day. I mean one day I was harassed 23 times by that woman. Is that normal? I've been here for 4 months and I'm the one who had to call the police on this guy here >> Let me go ahead and tell you right now. Okay? Whatever whatever's going on tonight, we're going to keep it nice and calm and and cool. >> I always do. She's >> You just just you >> And then this So, the reason why I emailed her the other day is because that chick's outside smoking out of a foil thing and I'm like, "Okay." I'm like, "What is that?" And it's drugs. >> That ain't got nothing to do with the situation, okay? You're you're you're digging for something else. >> That's not true. >> You need to understand >> emailed and complained. >> You You will not talk to her anymore tonight. Okay? She will not talk to you. The landlord's going to handle the situation as far as what's going on with you and the landlord. >> an attorney. >> Okay. You can go that route. I'm just letting you know that tonight I'm going to give you my card with a case number. >> Thank you. >> I'm going to do a little write-up, but this is just a civil matter. You guys can't get a >> the the chest cam thing? Because it's on my >> That's probably you have to go through a lawyer for that. >> Okay. Why can they get it? Cuz they have all of the chest cams. They have like my Yeah. >> Well, they can re- they can request it. >> Oh, they requested it. >> So, you can re- request it as well. >> Okay. Okay. >> But at the end of the day you stay in your happy little home, you don't bother her, you don't say nothing to her, she's not going to say anything to you. >> to tell me that, but >> Okay. All right. Okay. >> Can I have the card with the case number? >> Yeah, of course. I'm going to get it here in a minute. Pretty much is a civil matter, all right? You don't get along with your neighbor, your neighbor don't get along with you. No one's fighting, everybody's just arguing, there's no real threats, there's no real crime here. Okay? However, there is some civil stuff that you guys have to do. Um my only suggestion is that if she's this way now, she's just going to get worse because it's going to put a lot of strain on stress. >> one. >> So, you know your route that you're going to go. As far as you're concerned, all I can ask you to do is for the rest of the night, at least for the next couple of days stay close to your home, stay close to your car, do not talk to her, do not even look her way, just let her >> been doing. She's been smoking to me. >> I saw the video. I I I I I understand. >> She can record on her phone and I mean if >> Of course, you can always record. We get recorded all the time. I, you know. >> record anything that that happens. Turn your phone on and >> I have no problem just laying low and staying inside for a while. >> And the other two tenants, same thing? >> This is a common occurrence. We have a lot of neighbors that don't get along and they they and you know this being in the landlord business. They just don't get along. >> is the first issue we've had this recently. We've owned it for almost 10 years. She moved in in May. >> So, there's not much I can do about that. Yes. If I had the the authority to put all the crazies I thought were crazy, >> They'd be running [clears throat] out >> the hospitals and prisons would be a lot bigger than they are now. But, at the end of the day, >> unless you're a threat to yourself or others. So, she >> The the Baker Act stuff is if you're in psychology, you understand that there's a lot of T's that need to be crossed and I's before I can actually make that assumption. So, um Other than that, just I mean, you know what you have to do as a landlord. You have to confront the tenant, make sure they understand what's going on. >> I actually >> I would just ask you to just stay out of her way. Okay? All right. If she comes back out here and starts talking to you and tries to to talk directly to you or ask you whatever, give us a call. We'll come back. And then we'll we'll go through it again. But, I just told her she's not allowed to come talk to you rest of the night. You're not going to go talk to her. I can't stop you from doing what you have to do as a landlord. Um my only suggestion is Okay. >> Yeah, he stopped communicating verbally because it was not working. >> Okay. All right. So, I couldn't find it. >> [laughter] >> I was over there and I was upstairs on the fifth floor talking to some lady. She's a really sweet lady. >> We're We're protected during working >> Okay. back when probably wasn't much of else built around here. >> Yeah, Venice Island was probably just a little key at the point. >> Just a little thing going. A lot of these little old apartments probably were the same way. All cinder block and >> And this this was a motel. >> It had been a motel at one time, yeah. >> That's what it was built as a motel. >> It's got the original terrazzo. That was kind of the office and and where the people stayed in five and then they had the four units, so. >> Okay. >> Any other questions? >> Yeah, you were going to give me the >> yeah, I'm going to write that down right now. I'm going to give all three of you my card with the number on it. Um pretty much all I'm going to say is I came out here, broke you guys up, told you it was a civil matter, separated y'all for the night. And that's all I can do for now. >> No problem. >> Okay? >> No. >> I'll be right back. Here's my card. >> What's your wife's number? >> [laughter] >> I forgot it. I'd love to tell you, but No. >> [laughter] >> All right. You guys have a nice night. >> You have a very strong man who lives here that can protect us in case you need >> So you don't need me anymore? >> No. >> Okay. >> We're sorry. >> I'll leave on that note. You all take care.
