You got to listen to me. >> Leave me alone. Please leave me alone. >> You got to listen to me. >> No. >> Until we can figure out what happened here, there's a gun sitting outside. And right now, it's a crime scene. So, I'll take you into custody if that's what you want. >> It's is my gun. >> Well, we don't know whose gun it is. >> Okay, I'm calling my lawyer. I'm calling my lawyer. >> You call your lawyer. But listen to me. Until we can figure out what's going on, you're not free to go. >> know what's going on. I HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING WRONG. >> OKAY, BUT THERE WAS A GUN SITTING OUTSIDE AND THERE was a man. How do we know? >> Please leave me alone. >> No. Not until we figure out what's going on, okay? I'll let you have a cigarette, you can make a phone call, but listen, you got to stand right here. You can't walk out here. There's a gun laying out there. Look at me. You know who I am? >> Okay. Okay. >> I'll give you a minute to calm down, but >> We need to be able to go. >> That's the way it's going to look. >> Okay, if it was domestic and you were the victim, clearly the victim, then we could leave you alone. But right now, there's a gun outside, there was a disturbance in here. >> Uh that's probably me. >> You want to stand there. Look at me real quick. >> Yeah, I'll tell you. I don't think so. My even my knee. I was literally just >> You understand what I'm saying? >> He's the Kamora. I was trying, but Screw you. This is kind of a strong person. He's all [ __ ] up. I just saw I just saw him go for the Kamora and I was like >> What can I do to help you? >> I need some space, please. >> I'm giving you space. Stand right here. >> Man, we we're looking for it. There might be a gun somewhere, so we can't like leave you alone. >> You understand that? There's a half a gun laying outside and bullets. >> I'm inside. >> I understand >> know where the gun is, though. We don't know if it's in here, we don't know if it's out there. We >> Okay, it's not my gun and I'm telling you that right now. >> Okay, I believe you, but we just don't know where it is. You understand that? >> We have to just make sure everything's safe. >> I know. >> Yeah, so until we can make sure it's safe until we can find out what's going on here, you're not free to go. I can't leave you alone. >> breaking in the door and I called. That's it. >> Okay, well, now we're here and we have to do our investigation. And part of the investigation is looking for this gun. So, if you don't know where it is, that's okay, but we're going to make sure >> it is. I don't have a gun. I'm not in possession of a gun. >> But we can't leave you alone or somewhere that where the gun may be. You know what I mean? Does that make sense? >> No, it doesn't make sense. So, you're going to follow me around everywhere I go? >> No, no. We're going to stand here with you until we can figure out what's going on here and what >> I just told you he was breaking in. >> Do you know what the gun looks like? >> And I let I called the police. >> Okay. >> So, I have a right to leave right now. >> We don't just leave when that happens, okay? >> I haven't even seen a gun. >> You have not seen a gun. >> even know why you're saying there's a gun. I didn't see a gun. >> Cuz there's He had bullets on him and there's a piece of a gun out front, right out front. >> I supposed to know that? >> Maybe you don't, but I'm just letting you know. We don't know where it is. >> I'm not free to go. I'm not free to go. I'm in custody and I'm the victim. I called the police. >> know who the victim is yet because all you're doing is cooperating with me here. >> He is the one that's >> We don't know that yet. How do we know that? We have him under arrest, but we're we're saying we're concerned there may be a gun somewhere on the property. >> you're threatening to arrest me? >> You're not listening. Step out for a second. Step out. >> Are you not listening to what I'm saying? >> I just told you >> Focus on me for a second. >> I'm in a state of panic right now. >> You just told me that. Yes. >> Okay. >> I said over there you can have a cigarette. You said you can have them in I said you can have them in. I explained to you we don't know what happened and there's a gun laying outside. >> just told you >> he was breaking in and I called the police. >> Until we can get back 5 seconds ago that all you were doing is saying leave me alone. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, now we've gotten past that. There's a gun sitting outside until we can confirm or deny what happened. If you're the victim then we'll let you go. I said that. I already said that twice. We need to be able to confirm what's going on here and all you're doing is playing on your phone and taking a cigarette. >> I'm calling my attorney. I'm calling my attorney. I'm calling my attorney. I'm calling my attorney. >> Okay. You need your attorney when you're being interrogated for a crime. We're trying to figure out what's going on here and all you're doing is prolonging the process of telling us what's going on. >> You shut the car off. >> Can you tell us what happened? >> I don't know if he's even still holding it or >> He was breaking in the door and I called the police. >> Okay. just glad I got him before he had a gun on him at all. >> Yeah. >> I thought he was going to >> Yeah. >> I tried to taser him and he Cuz I was like, I'm not going to taser him with the dog. >> Okay. >> I mean, if you need to just come sit in the office. >> Yeah, that's the person >> You have as much space as you want, but until we can clear this out to find out where the gun is. >> Hi, my name is Sajita Patel. Can you call me, please? It's urgent. >> Okay, can you come hang out here? You can smoke a cigarette. Do you want to come in? >> No, I'm going to just stand right here. >> All right, well, then I'm just going to stand here with you. Come stand here with her. >> Yeah, he's probably on crack now. Yeah. Ready to be seized. >> Trying to kick that foot. >> He when I was trying to get him in the car, he tried to kick me, so I had to [ __ ] throw him in. >> You ready? >> Yeah. No stupid [ __ ] all right? >> I got you. >> [ __ ] >> Hey, at least you had your run for a little while. >> Yeah, anyway. >> I mean, [ __ ] longer than most people. Right? >> I guess. [ __ ] >> You went on the run for a little while now. >> Yeah. Pretty long. >> [ __ ] I mean, it's especially going to catch up to you. >> I know. [ __ ] man. Can I get a sip of that water? >> Yeah, here you Just face the wall. Actually Actually you're going to turn around. Just sit down. You're good cuz you're across the hall from her. Hey, the me and Burley are in there with the victim. Uh she's being like really uncooperative. That sucks for her for right now. >> She keeps trying to tell me I have to leave. >> She's uh she's not answering. All right, fine. Then don't even ask any more questions. >> Yeah, yeah, no, we're not. But I'm just telling him we we're just standing by with her cuz we don't know where the gun is. >> Yeah, I know, but they want the detectives want this place all cleared out right here. >> So she has to leave? >> her leave the room. >> Oh. >> The motel. You want her out? >> Well, if it's a crime scene >> Yeah, okay. She's got to come out. >> No, I just I told the cops that I didn't >> The uh ma'am, the detectives are going to process this as a crime scene, so they need you to come outside and wait, okay? >> Yeah, cuz I don't know if she's got violent tendencies >> Uh this way, this way, ma'am. Ma'am. >> And then Burley can be in here. >> So I'm going to go with her. >> Is there any other access >> Go with her. >> Yeah. Is there any other access >> Go with her, ma'am. >> Yeah. Why are you Why are you Why are you feeling like this when when we're trying to help you? >> Because because I was just in a panic and your officer Casella is forcing me to speak to him while I'm in a panic and I just told him I didn't see a gun and you're telling me you're going to keep me in custody right here in the office when I'm the victim of a crime. So I'm going to film you guys now. >> Okay, that's fine. We're We're trying to figure out what happened. >> And I'm sitting there crying and in a panic and you're telling me and and forcing me and and saying, "Whose gun is it? Whose gun I didn't even see a gun." >> Okay. >> So, how am I supposed to say whose gun someone's gun is? >> We don't know where the gun is. >> You can't even give me 5 minutes? I'm sitting there crying. >> kind of an urgent thing for us to figure out, you know? There's There's literally pieces of a firearm laying on our sidewalk right now. >> So, are you saying that there is a gun that I have? >> We No, no, no. We don't know We don't know whose gun it is. Uh we don't know where it is. But, that's why we're trying to process the scene here. >> It's like you're trying to take blood from a stone when I'm telling you I didn't see a gun >> Okay. >> and it's not my gun. >> It's fine. We're not even asking you any more questions. We just need you to leave the office. >> He hasn't even come in the office since he's been here. >> You have to understand, too, that I have to process this scene right now, right? And maintain the integrity of the scene. And this this office >> You're making me regret calling you guys. >> I'm sorry about that, but we have a job to do. You called us and we're here. >> Yeah. >> We arrested the guy breaking into your hotel. You have to understand that you're not in control when we show up. I'm sorry. >> but you're interrogating me. >> Yes, we are because we we don't know what's happening. We have to ask questions, unfortunately. I'm sorry if it makes you uncomfortable. >> minutes to calm down? >> Because we are actively investigating this. We don't have time for you to to get your emotions right. >> Can I speak to the detective I've actually dealt with before? >> I I That's me. I'm the detective working today. I'm sorry if you don't like me, but >> Uh Andre? Can I have a >> So, please just There's a quicker way to >> allowed to leave right now? >> No, Angela. We have to talk to you and we have to get some information. >> Are you saying I'm not allowed to leave right now? >> You're not. >> But, I can go under here, right? >> Just Just please just You can stand under here. >> Am I under arrest? >> You're You're You're not under arrest, but you are detained. >> Okay. So, what does that mean? I need to speak to my attorney. Uh uh >> detective >> Hello. >> What? I don't understand. You called us for assistance. This mess that >> But, you're holding me right now. >> You're not cooperating with us at all. >> I just told you I don't >> Go do your thing. All right. >> Can I have a water? >> Listen, I'm the I'm the >> You're not going to help. >> We can We can stand over here. >> I understand. Detective Crusella, I don't know Sergeant Crusella, okay? Lieutenant Crusella. >> have as much time as you need. We don't need to talk to you. >> It can be good. >> You can sit right here. I told you earlier, you can sit in the room and smoke a cigarette. You got to understand what I'm >> I speak to an attorney and find out the laws about whether I'm being detained or let go. >> But, you are being You are You are detained. You're free to leave right now. >> Okay. I I don't know what detained means and I don't >> you're not cooperating with us. >> Okay. >> So, while while we're conducting the investigation here, you have to remain on scene. >> Okay. >> You don't have to answer questions if >> You don't have to answer questions. You don't have to answer any questions. But, you got to understand, there's always two sides to every story, ma'am. >> Hello. >> Just cuz you're the caller doesn't mean And I'm not saying this that you're the one who had the gun. It doesn't mean you're not the one who had the gun. We need to try to figure out what's going on. And better you assist us in this investigation, it'll go smoother and we'll get out of here quicker. >> Okay. >> So, it's kind of like when I you were in there, I said, "You can sit here alone. You can go in the back room and smoke a cigarette, but a cop's going to have to stand by. We don't know if there's other firearms You have a gun registered to you. Is that correct?" >> No. >> Yes, you do. >> No, I don't. >> You never bought a firearm? >> I bought a firearm and they've even seen that I gave everything back. So, you've already done your investigation. Obviously, you have >> So, there's a possibility you got to have a firearm. >> No. There is no possibility. >> So, until we can >> speaking. So, you're you're now trying to trap me in something. >> No one is trying to trap you. I'm trying to explain to you. >> I just said I don't own a a gun. >> stand right here. >> And I don't have possession of a gun. >> Okay. Detectives are just going to collect evidence. They're going to take some pictures of the crime scene. And as soon as we're done with that, we'll get out of here, okay? Okay. As of right now, we keep a cop with you, but she's not really She's still detained. I got to fill out a form. No, I don't think so, either. You see where he's at? Where? Hey folks, just a heads-up, she We're having rescue come check her out. >> Yeah. If she happens to want to go to the hospital, is she detained? Do you want us to stay >> with her? Like, what's the game plan? >> Um I think it's not a bad idea >> to have one of us with her. >> Yeah. Yep. >> Yes, sir. >> All right. And now we're at the heart of Hollywood. Do you have the keys to that shirt, please? >> I don't >> Hey ma'am, I don't mean any trouble. I'm I'm really sorry. Can I just get the keys to this car, please? If you happen to have them. >> Okay, here you go. Here you go. >> I'm going to talk to him. Who is it? >> It's her attorney. >> I'm talking to her attorney. >> They want my keys. >> To this vehicle. >> To this >> Probably. >> They said it's a crime scene because they saw a gun. >> What did you say? >> And I didn't see a gun. I'm giving it to you. >> That's fine. Rescue's a block out, man. >> Yeah. All right, but rescue's not trampling through here. If you want to get assessed by rescue, I'll walk you out this way, ma'am. We can't do it right here. So, you want to step out and head this way, please? Head this way, though. Out this way, underneath here. You head this way? >> I called the police. Because he was trying to get in the office. >> Yeah, that's fine. >> Yes. Yes. Did I do the wrong thing? I called the police. >> [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] What the [ __ ] what the [ __ ] what the [ __ ] >> Are you having trouble breathing right now? Do you want us to give you some oxygen for the time being? It's all right. I don't want to bombard you with questions, so I don't you know. Here, you're totally fine to tell me you need to. >> I did the wrong thing. Can you guys remember what I called the police? >> I'm not filled in on all that. I don't you know, I don't have to be. I just want to work. Joe and I are here to make sure that you're going to be adequate. >> This guy has a lot of emotional stuff. It's a real hard situation. >> What? >> Patel was charged with numerous offenses, including disarming a law enforcement officer, unlawful weapon possession, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a ghost gun, burglary, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, eluding, and two counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement. This apparently wasn't Patel's first major police confrontation that year. In February 2024, roughly 7 months before authorities said Patel was involved in an hours-long SWAT standoff at a Wildwood residence. According to reporting based on police information, New Jersey's Division of Child Protection and Permanency was attempting to serve a no contact order. Patel allegedly barricaded himself in the residence with family members. His family eventually got out while Patel remained inside and allegedly made threats toward law enforcement before ultimately surrendering. County records indicated that Patel and his wife purchased the Heart of Wildwood Motel in 2014 for 3.5 million dollars.
