So, I say to him, "Has anyone ever touched inappropriately?" And he put his head down and he shook his head. He goes, "Yeah." >> So, I heard something happened today. >> Yeah. >> Yeah? Did Did somebody touch you in a private place? >> Yeah. >> I tried to call CPS, couldn't get through to anybody, whatever. I called you guys. I know you guys are busy. But these are the These are the sweetest She's so tiny and she's so skinny. I couldn't I can't imagine what she's going through. >> A frightened child, a concerned family. When Charlotte County officers answered a call in Punta Gorda, they walked into a nightmare. Two people would end up under arrest and the body cam footage tells the chilling tale. I am your host, Tony, and you are watching Body Cam Edge. >> So, what's going on today? >> So, apparently there's a couple little kids that live over in the fish camp. They met And they would come over and they actually they were here like all the time, which I didn't have a problem with cuz I'm thinking maybe something's weird that they never want to go home. And today I walked into the bedroom and I caught the had her hand pants. >> Okay. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Okay, so I was like, "Whoa, whoa." She immediately panicked, ran out. Yes. >> Still was here. She got on her bike, she raced away. And I was like, I didn't want to scare her off, but she was obviously caught doing something. And I bring them in front of me. I "Anybody touch appropriately or touch her parts that weren't supposed >> her name? >> Jane. >> Okay, got you. >> So, >> Where do you live at? >> In the park over here in the RV. I don't know where they're at. I I don't know. So, I say to him, "Has anyone ever touched appropriately?" >> Yeah. >> And he put his head down and he shook his head. He goes, "Yeah." I go, "What do to Did he touch her private He goes, "Yeah." He goes, I go, "When did he do this?" goes to work. I go, he goes and the camper shakes. >> Okay. >> I I kind of depicted something was weird and off with the kids cuz they never they all wanted to be here always, never wanted to go home and they no one ever really checked on them. You know, so when I caught this, she immediately just ran out of the house and took off. I didn't want her to be afraid. I really wanted to address what was going on cuz obviously something was going on. is here to pick the kids up. So, we decided and we're like, uh, she's like, "Yeah, I know. His brother beat him up." Obviously, she's an idiot. And I'm looking at her and I go, "Is that him in the car right now?" Cuz she made the kids get in the car cuz she's taking them to her dad's. I go, "So, I go, you aware that he's Well, yeah, his brother beat him up." So, apparently, she's aware that is hurting her. Who was up there with me, sat right there. We tried to confront her to let her know that something weird was going on and she was completely "Yeah, I know. I need to get away from him." I said, "Here's the deal, why don't you send the kids back to my house?" "No, I'm going to take them to my dad's." I don't know who her dad is. Is your dad a weirdo? Because I'm starting to think you're a weirdo now cuz we're trying to tell you just said is hurting her and you're just like oblivious. I tried to call CPS, couldn't get through to anybody, whatever. I called you guys. I know you guys are busy, but these are the these are the sweetest. She's so tiny and she's so skinny. I couldn't I can't imagine what she's going through. They're they're really good kids. I wanted to go to that car and rock his world like in ways you don't even know because that's that's not lying. He didn't know. He's just like, "Yeah." And then the camper rocks. Like, he's not lying. >> So, are they there now? >> I don't know. went there cuz she kept saying she's going to take them cuz he doesn't know where they're at. >> Let's get some names first here. >> some information first. >> Okay. >> Um, cuz anytime we're involving juveniles, we have to do this a very specific way. >> Yes. >> And it's going to involve forensic interviews and >> Sure. >> long process. We want to get all the information from them. We're not going to do interviews with the kids here today. They're going to have a special specialist. Okay? We don't want to traumatize the kids any further than what they've already been exposed to. >> tell something was wrong with them a little bit always cuz they never wanted to go back home. They always wanted to be here. So already I knew something was amiss. And then when I caught that and then I said that They goes, "Have they ever touched you before, honey?" I was like, "No, today was the first time that she did that." And I'm like, "Okay, so I had to question cuz I knew something was obviously wrong cuz I told you these kids have been here. They don't even ask where their kids are at or check on them. I've been feeding them, taking care of them. And I'm okay with that because they're just little kids." And that um I have to make a report. I can't just let it go. She's so tiny. And when I said, "Would you please just send the kids back to the house?" No, they're going to my dad. I know I need to get away from him. She's aware that it's going on. >> Everything you're talking about with them has happened in the past. You don't know of anything that happened today, correct? >> Well, no. I caught her touch today. >> Where was that at? Did that happen here? >> Yeah, in the bedroom, in my bedroom. They were playing hide-and-go-seek. >> Okay. And I with what's happening with at their house, did do you know of anything that happened today? >> No. Nothing that happened today. >> Okay. Perfect. >> I said I said, "Has anybody that you know of touched you guys? Both of them I was questioning cuz obviously you know, in your inappropriate places." And then he put his head down and he went I was holding his hands. I go, "Who's ever touched you wrong?" He goes, "Well." I go, "What touched you wrong?" was to work the camper shakes. >> Yeah, so she was touched she had >> her hands pants. >> Both hands? >> One hand. >> Do you remember which one that was by chance? >> I Well, >> If you can, it's helpful. If not, it's not. >> I'm going to say this one because I felt seeing her hand pull out a minute the minute I opened the door and I and they're frozen and I'm like, "Okay, uh immediately ran out and I said, "Okay but she was so she just got on her bike and took off. So I here, honey. I'm you know, like she goes, "I didn't know what to do. I was so scared. I didn't know what to say." And I'm like, "It's okay, honey. We just got to resolve what's going on. Something's wrong. This This not normal behavior, honey." And then when I questioned I I had called him in cuz he started to take off, too, but he came back and I here, honey. I held his hands just to make him feel safe, like, "It's okay." I go, "Um has anybody ever, you know, touched in places she shouldn't be touched or he and he put his head down and he goes, I go, "Who's touched her like that?" I go, "When did he touch her like that in inappropriate places?" to where the camper shakes. I'm not having a really She's so tiny. She's this tiny, this cutest little thing. >> So when they were in the bedroom today, was it just the two girls in the bedroom? >> cuz they were playing hide and seek, but it they seemed to be going a little bit longer. So but I always keep that stuff in the back of my mind cuz I don't know the kids. And I keep my sights up and I'm like, "Ah, it's a little bit too long." When I opened the door, I was like, "Oh." I'm like, and she just ran out. I didn't want her to run away. I just want to know what was going on. She said, "Yeah, she she put her hand in my pants, her finger and she touched me." I go, "All right, honey." I go, "You know," I go, "It's not appropriate, but I'm glad you told me because I said we need to help her cuz it's not appropriate. So we need to figure out what's going on with her so we can help her." God, I just can't wrap my head around anyone ever hurting tiny little kid like that. told me that my heart just broke. I'm like, "All right, buddy." And came here. We tried to take her aside thinking and she's like, "Yeah, I know. Uh I need to get away from him." >> Outside, other officers break out their evidence. They gather items at the scene that may link to the investigation. Meanwhile, investigators have also located the two young victims at school. There, each girl tearfully tells detectives that Meredith had inappropriately touched them and that they had told Tiffany Miller what was happening. Neither child ever reported it before. Detectives now understand that Miller not only knew of the abuse, she allegedly did nothing to stop it. >> So, we'll go we'll go through that process. If we can talk to >> Would you like to talk? >> We're going to ask her one question. That's it. And then we're going to >> Hey, come here, honey. >> What? >> Come here. >> It's okay. Come here, babe. >> She's brilliant. >> I love this kid. >> You're fine, honey. It's all good. Remember we talked about protecting her. I did all They're just going to ask you a question, honey. >> Are you? >> Okay. >> And be honest with your answer. >> You're getting old already. So, I heard something happened today. >> Yeah. >> Yeah? Did somebody touch you in a private place? >> Yeah. >> Okay. That's all we need from you, honey. >> That's all. We're going to cuz we're going to try to protect her, honey. We're not getting her in trouble. We're just going to look out for her, okay? All right. >> Well, let me get sweet. >> That's all we need to do is listen. >> Yeah. >> We ask a very basic question and then we leave it up to the forensic specialist to do that. If you've never been through that process, the kids go into this our headquarters building and meet with our forensic specialist, her name's Terry Snyder. She's phenomenal. >> Okay. >> Um she's a little old lady about this tall and everything. She takes them into a little room, it's like a living room. It's couches and pillows. They just talk to the kids. >> Yeah. >> And they know how to answer the or ask those questions to get the answers we need. So, it's less intimidating. >> Right. >> And we're more likely to get the truth. You know, I'm not I'm not worried about getting the truth from them, but from the other kids. So, it's the same for every kid. And then she can go testify in court about cuz basically any interview is considered hearsay in court. >> Right. >> So, I can't testify to it. She is legally allowed to testify to hearsay as an expert about what's going on there. That's my concern. You know, you're obviously watching what's going on. You can monitor the situation to keep the kids safe. What's going on in that house, but we have to start here >> Sure. >> and work our way back >> Sure. All right. Poor little pumpkins, man. They're just They're so small. They're the tiniest little kids. >> All right. I'm going to set these over here for now. How many different articles of clothing she has? >> Just three. Yeah. >> How about four just in case she had like socks >> No. No. It was just This is it. >> What I'll do is I'll take a picture of these. >> Okay. She's got a little bit of little bit of poopy underwear. She don't wipe her butt the best. Okay. >> I'm going to fold that shirt up so we can see what it is. >> Yeah. All right. Hang on. I got I'm just a worried about [clears throat] those other little shorties. >> Hello. How are you? Can you hold on for me a minute? What's your name? >> Cody. >> Cody, can I see some ID, please? >> Yes, sir. >> All right, Cody. If it's about the um like the the papers for the dependency case, I I'm not going to get copies. I'm just going to talk to Catherine. I was just a little worried. >> No, they were just uh saying keep your hand out of your pocket for me, please. >> All right. >> Yeah, we were we were informed that you had a warrant. So, we're waiting to get that confirmed. >> All right. >> Okay. Just hold on to that just a minute. >> I'll just go sit over there for a second. >> All right. Would you know if you had a warrant, man, or >> Uh >> Would make it easier. You got anything going on? >> No, I don't. >> Don't put your hands in your pockets. >> No, I'll take them out. >> Don't put your hands in your pockets. Would you know of any reason or anything? You got any cases pending or something? >> That's the thing I was just in here for. I was trying to get information for a dependency case for my children. >> Okay. >> Um and I haven't been receiving anything. Could it child support maybe? >> I I've never been in trouble. We're just going to verify it then. All right. I mean what I what would I have a warrant for? All right. Just make sure your phone is off. Set it there. They've confirmed the warrant so you're going to be going into custody. Turn your phone off and set it there. You can't contact my wife? >> Not right now. >> Okay. >> Will you stand up for me? >> No worries. >> All right. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> Okay. You have a warrant for what? >> We'll find out when we get upstairs. >> Okay. >> It's all right. Relax. >> Relax. Please cooperate with me. Listen. >> I'm required to put the cuffs on you, okay? [snorts and clears throat] So it's not because I think you're a bad guy or anything. >> Okay. >> All right. So we're just going to walk over to where we can do this paperwork. >> All right. >> In private. Okay. All right, sir. Just like this. All right. >> Meredith was ultimately arrested and charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation involving minors. Due to the severity of those charges, he is currently being held without bond. Miller, on the other hand, was arrested for failure to report abuse along with two counts of child neglect. Authorities say she resisted deputies during the arrest. She was later released after posting bond. Cases like this highlight how critical it is for warning signs to be taken seriously, especially when it comes to protecting children. Law enforcement says early reporting can make the difference in stopping situations like this before they escalate further. This footage documents just one part of a much larger investigation, one that started with someone speaking up. If you found this breakdown informative, make sure to subscribe for more real body cam cases and full analysis. And as always, let me know your thoughts on this one in the comments. I'm your host Tony, signing off.
