The following video takes place on October 23rd, 2025 in Auburn, Washington, where a man was striking a helicopter with lasers. The incident happened in southeast Auburn around 9:00 p.m. near 3137th Street Southeast. Video from the King County Sheriff's Office helicopter crew inside the Guardian 1 helicopter shows a green laser illuminating the camera. The flight crew quickly radioed Auburn police dispatchers and notified them of the laser strike. Within minutes, police officers on the ground managed to hunt the suspect down and recovered a laser pointer. >> Fire has our subject. They're going to be taking him to over the end portion. >> Copy. The suspect was arrested and could be facing serious consequences considering pointing a laser at an aircraft as a federal offense, punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Unfortunately, this seems to be a growing trend as the Federal Aviation Administration reports a steep increase in reported laser strikes in recent years. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has also been investigating an increase in laser incidents at Washington airports. And this spring, the agency offered a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to arrests.
