He's turning back to shoot at him. >> The following footage takes place in St. Louis County where officers tried to initiate a traffic stop over a vehicle moving erratically through intersections. Officers in an unmarked vehicle first noticed a vehicle driving recklessly at a high rate of speed down Halls Ferry Road in Jennings, Missouri. Due to the speed at which the vehicle was moving, officers struggled to get close enough the vehicle in order to initiate the traffic stop. Shortly after turning on their lights, officers observed the suspect, later identified as 42-year-old Taiwan Lee Jackson, start to speed away down Goodfellow Boulevard. Within 9 seconds of the lights being on, Jackson struck two utility poles and flee the moving vehicle on foot. In his hand was a loaded pistol with which he fired multiple shots at officers. Jackson continued to run on foot into a parking lot after firing at officers. However, before he could get much further, he was struck by multiple police cruisers. The following audio is some of the radio chatter amongst officers during the incident. Five different street cameras also caught the entire interaction. The suspect was taken into custody and taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. On scene, officers recovered a Glock 44 attributed to Jackson. It was tested and ballistically matched to be the weapon fired on scene. No officers discharged their weapons and no officers were injured. Taiwan Lee Jackson was later charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, resisting arrest by fleeing, and unlawful possession of a firearm. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
