Viewer discretion is advised. On the night of May 18th, just after 900 p.m., the Tucson Sector Tactical Operations Center alerted the AO Border Patrol station. The Toono O Autumn Nation Police Department had reported gunfire near Manager's Dam village and requested backup. >> United States Border Patrol Tucson sector, can I help you? >> Hi, this from TP. >> Yes, ma'am. Um I have uh officers, two officers headings to the village of managers and we got a report of shots being heard and they don't well there's um I guess a threat made on a 101 from uh somebody she has a restraining order against. They just he they just know he lives on the west side of the rec center. So they're asking if you have anybody that can go with them to check in the area of the west side of the rec center, they can meet at the rec center. >> Meet up at the rec center. And this is in the village of managers. >> Yeah, managers. Yeah. >> Okay. >> 215. >> Okay. And you said the house in question, they have a restraining order against each other or somebody has Okay. >> I guess he went and reported that uh that the girl the ex-girlfriend was shot, her and her mom were shot yesterday. So now the girlfriend is saying maybe it's premotated that since she keeps hearing shots fired and everybody keeps calling in the village checking on her. So that's why they want and I guess he does live in that area on the west side of the rec center. So she said he does have owner rifle and they had native contact with him yesterday. So they're going to try to check on him today. Okay. >> Or right now to see if that was him shooting off the gun. >> Okay. Okay. But yeah, they can be a direct center. >> Okay. But so the actual report is shots being fired, correct? >> Yeah. Everybody said they report they heard two, but nobody can pinpoint where it came from. They're all coming from the west. >> Okay. >> All right. Sounds good. Thank you. >> All right. Thank you. >> Just got off the phone with TOPD. They're requesting assistance out in the village of managers if we have anybody available that could assist them with a report of a shots fired call. Uh they're wanting to know if we can uh respond somebody to meet up with them on the west side of the rec center or actually meet up at the rec center. The house in question is going to be on the west side from the rec center and managers >> 104. We got any units available to respond and meet COPD and managers at the rec center heading down. I think uh be going >> invo south from here. 104 sounds good. was also one route. >> Within minutes, border patrol agents acknowledged the call and moved to meet police at the local recreation center. By 9:27, the officers and agents had gathered, sharing information about reports of shots near a nearby residence. Led by a police officer, the agents followed in government vehicles >> right here. So we are right here and this his house right that house in that house. >> Okay. >> This is his house. That's his brother's house. >> But there is shots fired they said. >> Yeah. >> Uh recording time. >> Yeah. >> Are y'all ready? >> All right. It's dark as [ __ ] All I see is what? >> There's a bunch of your guys here now, too. >> Are you guys good? >> We can go if you're ready. >> Yeah, let's go. Arriving at the scene around 9:35 p.m. >> They spread out to search the area. >> You want to watch that side? >> Yep. Shoot your [ __ ] lock that PA. Yo, see somebody just walk over here. Do you see him? Yo, got a P. This one over here. I don't know. Somebody over here. This >> [ __ ] Dude, >> in police pursuits, chasing a suspect into dark woods carry serious risks. >> Watch out, bro. >> The cover of trees and shadows creates the perfect environment for an ambush. >> I thought somebody just ran this way. >> Officers can lose sight of each other, leaving them isolated and without backup. The terrain itself works against them. Branches, uneven ground, and obstacles slow movement and break formation. In the darkness, it becomes harder to identify who's ahead, whether it's the suspect or someone else entirely. And by stepping into the woods, officers leave behind a position of control and enter terrain chosen by the suspect. >> Pretty sure someone ran this way. [Music] Told you. >> At 9:39, they encountered a man outside a residence about 100 meters away. >> As officers approached, A man threw an object toward them. >> Hey, put your hands out of your [ __ ] pocket. >> Get out of your [ __ ] face fire. Case fired. >> Shots fired. Shots fired. >> Put your hands out. >> All ages is code for so far. Shots fired. Let me put your hands up. >> Three border patrol agents opened fire, striking him multiple times. He fell to the ground. >> Radio calls [ __ ] move. >> Shots fired. >> The officers cautiously advance, secured the man. >> Let me see your hands and began so we can help you. >> Put your hands up so we can help you. >> Stand by. Stand by. We're about to make contact. >> We still got to go to jail. >> Put your hands up. >> Spread them out. >> Put your hands out. >> Spread them out. Put your hands out so we can help you. >> Okay, somebody go back and get my medkit, please. >> Put your hands out, bro. You're going to get shot again. >> Put your hands out. Come on, man. >> We want to help you. >> Put them out. Hey, watch the crossfire. Watch. >> Do not [ __ ] move. Don't [ __ ] move. Put your hands up. Don't [ __ ] move. The gun. >> Give me one second. It's underneath them. Hey, man. Did you get my bag? >> Yo, get him back. Get a med back. >> Hey, where's the firearm? >> Hey, we got to get that fire. >> Hey, go get a medbag. >> Hey, they get my med back. >> Turn the other way. >> So, we just had a shooting here >> in uh Managers, Arizona. Um, subjects been hit four or five times. We didn't count exactly. We've been doing CPR since 2146. No pulse, no breathing. >> They checked for a pulse, called for medical services, and started CPR when no pulse was found. >> An air evacuation was requested, but heavy weather made it impossible. Despite continued efforts, a physician from St. Mary's Hospital pronounced the man dead at 10:06 p.m. The Puma County Medical Examiner's Office took custody of the remains, later confirming the deceased was an adult US citizen. An autopsy was performed. from the following day with final findings. >> 2206. Copy, sir.
