Viewer discretion is advised. >> [music] >> The incident happened on the morning of May 9th, 2026, [music] when a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle traveling northbound on Interstate 41. A routine traffic stop [music] in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, turned into a dangerous high-speed pursuit after deputies discovered the driver had an active felony warrant. As officers attempted to take him into custody, the suspect accelerated away, leading law enforcement on a chase through city streets and back onto the interstate. >> He's back out on the Pioneer. >> He'll be back on Pioneer. >> Got him. 69 Uh 151 [music] going southbound 151 going northbound >> He is on 30. >> 69 driving in the wrong way of traffic. He is on Johnson. He was going northbound on Johnson Street. >> He'll be on Johnson. >> Northbound 41, I think we need to go the other way. He is northbound on Interstate 151 southbound. >> Then came the moment that made headlines across the country. Approaching the Winnebago Street exit, the suspect entered the off-ramp far too fast and lost control. His vehicle dropped into the ditch alongside the roadway before climbing the opposite embankment. Instead of stopping, the car launched completely into the air. The vehicle flew over Winnebago Street passing directly over another vehicle traveling underneath and landed on the opposite side before crashing into a nearby field. It's one of those moments that almost looks computer-generated, but it was entirely real. Fortunately, the driver below escaped without being struck. Despite the violent crash, the driver got out and attempted to flee on foot. >> Get on the ground! Get on the ground! >> Deputies quickly caught up with him and used a taser before taking him into custody. Fortunately, no innocent motorists were injured during the incident. Authorities identified the driver as 44-year-old Dwayne Stokes of Milwaukee, [music] who was wanted on a felony warrant out of Kenosha County. Following the pursuit, he was booked on multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding law enforcement, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, felony bail jumping, resisting an officer, and additional recommended charges that include felon in possession of a firearm and marijuana possession. It's incredible that no one was seriously hurt. The airborne jump easily could have ended in tragedy for the driver traveling underneath. But instead, the chase ended with an arrest and only minor injuries.
