Viewer discretion is advised. >> [music] >> In many law enforcement encounters, officers are required to make split-second decisions, often within moments of arriving on the scene. The following clips highlight instances [music] where rapid responses were critical in life-threatening situations, and things go from zero to 100 real quick. On the afternoon of May 13th, 2025, officers responded to an apartment building on Christopher Avenue after receiving a 911 call reporting a violent domestic dispute. A woman met officers in the lobby and told them that the father of her children was threatening to kill her. As officers made their way upstairs, [music] they encountered 25-year-old Damon Luther standing in the hallway holding a large knife. Body camera [music] footage shows Luther pulling the knife from his waistband before advancing toward the officers. Investigators say he repeatedly shouted, "You're going to have to put a bullet in me." One officer deployed a Taser, striking [music] Luther, but he quickly removed the probes and continued charging. Moments later, a second officer fired his service weapon. Luther was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. As officers spoke with him, they noticed a noticeable bulge [music] in the front pocket of his hoodie, which they believed could be a weapon. When officers attempted to detain [music] him, investigators say Campbell resisted and continued walking away with one hand inside his pocket.
