In this final installment, McKenzie sits down for a formal interrogation at the station. Facing official charges, she decides to drop the cover-up and detail the full timeline of events. >> Um Obviously, you know why I'm here. Trying to find out what all went on there. >> Can I just start off by saying that I'm really sorry for not telling you everything last night? >> Absolutely. >> Yeah. >> [snorts] >> It was really difficult. It was really scary. >> I understand that. This is a scary situation. >> I was afraid of what I should say or shouldn't say. I didn't know. I was really scared. >> I'm going to take notes while we talk. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, that way if you say something, I'm going to be able to help you, okay? I know you're just really sorry, and I want to make sure that that's noted, okay? What really happened? >> Um So, my husband and I have like seen him at community events. Like, hung out with him here and there. Um so, I I have known who he was. We hung out before in like a community setting. Um [snorts] Garrett and I had been drinking that night. And um Garrett went to bed. So, and we were like like both Snapchatting him, if that makes sense. Like, talking to him like a friend kind of. Um and then Garrett went to bed, and I was still talking to him. And then um one thing led to another, and we ended up on a Snapchat call. And um a lot of it is a little bit fuzzy for me cuz I was heavily under the influence. Um but, I remember being on a Snapchat call with him, and then we were talking about like hanging out, getting together. And then that's when we started like talking back and forth about that. And then he showed up like down at the end of my road and I met him down there. And at first it was very like we were just talking, communicating. And then it just kind of spiraled. Like we started and started making out and then it just went to >> [snorts] >> When you say sex, what does that mean to you? >> Um >> Like there's different kinds of sex. So when you say sex, what does what does that mean? >> Like What do you mean? Like I'm confused on what you're trying to ask. >> Yeah. So like sex to some people means different things and so we always try to clarify like does sex mean you put or he put his penis in you? >> Yes. Yes. And [snorts] it happened for a little bit and then I think we we both started to feel kind of like uncomfortable and like it wasn't we knew it wasn't what should be happening. And we stopped and then I went home. >> When you say you went home, did you guys go somewhere? >> Well, he was right there at the end of the road and then I just got out and walked home. >> Okay. >> [snorts] >> And so you guys had you guys made out, kissing is that making out? All right, so you make out and then you have sex and then you got home. Is this all happened in his pickup? >> Yeah. >> Tell me a little bit more about his pickup. What does that look like? >> What does his pickup look like? >> Yeah, like what kind of pickup is it? >> Um it's like a red burgundy Chevy pickup. >> Older, newer? >> Um probably like 2000s. Like a little older. >> Okay. Okay. Did you guys drive anywhere, go anywhere? >> Um we drove to like the top of this hill right by town. Okay. And then drove back and then I walked. >> Okay. So, this all happened when you guys were at the top of the hill? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. And you say that night, when when is that night? >> Well, technically it would have been like the early hours of the morning, so like between 2:00 and 4:00 a.m. >> Okay. Try to remember about when, like but yesterday, a week ago, 2 weeks ago, a month ago? >> Last Saturday. Saturday or like it would have been Sunday morning, I guess you could say, yeah. >> And where were you guys making out and having sex in the truck? >> Just in the front. >> In the front of the truck? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay, tell me what what that looked like. >> Like just we were both in like the passenger seat. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What was your body position to his body position? >> Um Like I I think he was behind me, if that makes sense. >> Okay. So, like he was sitting on the seat and then you were on top of him? >> No, like I was like on all fours and he was behind me. >> Okay. Inside the pickup? >> Mhm. >> Okay. Um >> I think the thing that's really hard to do is um Garrett and I like have seen him at a lot of events with like people our age. Um and I'm not saying that that's like a making it okay or anything, but in my mind I we were I wasn't trying to be like gross like that, if that makes sense. Like I wasn't >> He's just a friend. One of the one of the group that you hang out with. >> Yeah. He was listening to me about my feelings. I was listening to him about his feelings. Like it was just felt like two friends talking. It didn't feel like that. Not to make it sound any better or worse. Um but he came back. I I'm really upset with myself. >> So you like is something that you spent some time talking in the back of the pickup before? >> Yeah. There was a lot of time talking in the back of the pickup before any of that even happened. >> And then this all happens in the cab of the pickup. Do we ever move to the bed of the pickup on one side? >> Um I think there was a brief moment where that happened, but I don't have a lot of like memory of that happening. >> I guess So let's start at the beginning. Uh he picks you up. >> Mhm. >> And then then what happens? >> Then we drove to the top of the hill and then we um parked and sat and talked for a really really long time. And then um we talked about our personal lives. Um things that he struggled with and that I struggled with. And then kind of the direction led to flirting and then kissing and then that. And that was at the very end. And after that happened was when >> [snorts] >> we got back in the pickup and then he drove back down to the end of my road and I walked. >> And you're saying you got back into the pickup. What was happening right before you got back in the pickup? >> We were in the back doing doing all same thing that we were in the front. >> Okay. >> Mhm. What What position What position were you guys in in the back of the truck? >> I don't remember. I I want to say the same thing, but I don't remember. Keys in his pickup by accident. Um and so the next morning I asked him if they were in Not the next morning because I was getting ready to go to work on Monday and I couldn't find them. So I told Garrett I was like, "I don't think I have my keys." So I texted him and was like, "I really hope my keys are in your pickup." And he didn't respond. And then Garrett texted him and he responded back to Garrett and left my keys on the porch. >> Okay. >> And then on last night when I heard Garrett was going to was on the phone with the cops, I called him on my friend Terry's phone to let him know what was going on. Cuz I kind of felt like he had a right to know. Also, I kind of wanted to like gauge what he was feeling in the whole situation with that cuz that was >> And what did you tell >> Um he was very short on the phone. Just very like, "Okay. Okay. I'm sorry." And then um I I said something to him about like, "This is what is probably going to happen. This is what Garrett's saying or whatever." And um he was like, "Yeah, well, you are 25 and I'm 16." And I was like, "Yes, you're correct, but you cannot say that nothing happened." was consensual. And he was like, "You're right." And then it was the phone was very just quiet and then I was like, "Yeah." And then you know. >> Okay. Well, we're kind of right that, you know, he's 16, he can consent at 16. You're 25, you're not some creepy old lady, you know. >> Kind of feels like that. >> You know, I know, but you you're not. You're 25, you're young, you're beautiful. Um Do you guys have Do you understand that you can't have sexual relations with students at your >> Absolutely. Absolutely. Absolutely. Um, I think >> Why do you know that you're not supposed to do that? >> Um, it's just a There's a big um I mean, I I'm not his teacher personally, but even if like say I was his mentor or something, there would be a conflict there. Like if I'm not saying that would happen cuz I'm a first grade teacher and he's in high school. We don't We don't cross paths at school at all. >> Um, but he knows you're his school teacher. >> Right. And there could be like I don't know, what if I was asked to chaperone a dance or something like that. Like that would be a a really big issue. >> Is that something that first grade teachers do is chaperone dances? >> No, but if I was ever asked >> Is it sports or other things? >> Maybe, yeah. It's a small school, so everyone kind of chips in and does everything. Um So, that's the only thing I can think of, but as of this year, I haven't had any like had to be around him at school, if that makes sense. >> And in the some of the text messages I've seen between the two of you after this happens you are concerned about him talking to Jen or it's or something about Jen you're concerned about. What was that about? >> Um So, Jen is a teacher in the high school who I'm not trying to get her in trouble by any means, but has had a lot of concerns of being inappropriate with her students. Um, and [snorts] he had told me multiple times that Jen stops him all the time and like Jen wants me, Jen this, whatever. And um he goes around telling a lot of people like that. Like Garrett's heard him say that. I heard him say that in public. Um, and I just I had asked him like I would appreciate it you don't talk about me like you did Jen. Yeah. >> You didn't want this to get out in the public. >> No. >> Why not? >> Because it was really embarrassing. I was really ashamed. I wish I could have just never happened. >> [snorts] >> Like I said, it's a small deal. >> It is. Questions you might have. >> Yes, my question is when do you think this will happen? It's a really scary thought. >> I wish I had a magic eight ball to give you all the answers. I can tell you you're going to have court tomorrow. And there's going to be the news media outlets already reaching out to get information. So there's going to be It's going to be in the media tomorrow. He won't be named in any of that because he's a minor. >> Right. >> But he will leave cuz that's how the system works. That's fine. >> Right. >> So and tomorrow they'll tell you a lot more about the next steps. And tomorrow's court case or court hearing is just an initial appearance. So it's just this is what it was alleged, this is the crime, guilty not guilty. Um >> And me being >> And and then at that point is when you also like do you want an attorney, do you want your own, court appointed, do your own thing, whatever. That'll all be with with the judge. >> Okay. So nothing will be like sentenced though. Like we won't know. >> Right. Yeah, tomorrow's just an initial appearance. >> So what are the potential outcomes of tomorrow like? Like there's a bail or you're staying here. Like what's the situation? >> So so I don't really answer but that will be decided tomorrow is whether you can The options are no bail, bail, or he The judge could choose to release you on OR, which is on your own recognizance. Um and then there's usually some restrictions. >> What does that mean? >> Um so he'll release you without you having to pay. It's just you sign. Um and there's usually release conditions that are associated with that. Um and then like you know, they'll go over those with you. >> Okay. Um is there I know you can't answer anything cuz you're not like a you're not the judge, but with me being like I'm feeling so terrible and just talking about what happened, does that give me any like any way? Not leeway, but you know what I mean? Like >> I got I can't answer that. That's up to the prosecutor. Um It's up to the prosecutor. So, but I will put that you're sorry. Put all of all your emotional like, you know, how very sincere you've been. You know, I think sometimes people tell you what happened, but they're an [ __ ] about it. They're not You know, and I think that's different than what you're doing right now where you're being very honest and open. Um, you know, you're understanding that you messed up, but >> This is also something I could be right. Like I never would have even >> Sure. >> thought I'd do.
