Officer Fossa successfully blocked the suspect's vehicle, but Castro refused to stop and crashed directly into the officers behind him. Lewis fired at Castro from inside his patrol car. Castro was then transported to a local hospital where he later died despite medical efforts, according to information released by police. The 19-year-old Castro already had a history of serious criminal offenses. Castro had a younger sister and a younger brother. His sister was killed in gang violence at just 13 years old.
