on December 27th 2024 around 11:58 p.m. Warren police officers responded to a 7 to11 convenience store following reports of a man armed with knives Witnesses stated the suspect crashed his vehicle into the building and began threatening customers and employees with knives prompting employees to lock themselves in a back room upon arrival officers found the suspect later identified as 46-year-old Brian steel standing outside with two knives and bleeding from self-inflicted wounds despite repeated commands to drop the weapons steel refused instead shouting kill me kill me B just cut it down just put it down just put it down just put it drop it drop it drop the knife drop the knife officers work to deescalate the situation telling him nobody wants to kill you Steel's girlfriend who was briefly with him managed to move away safely additional officers arrived and deployed a taser subduing steel and allowing officers to secure him no injuries were reported and two serrated knives were recovered steel was treated for non-life-threatening injuries before being taken to jail on December 30th he was charged with assault with intent to Rob while armed assault with a dangerous weapon and malicious destruction ction of a building steel a habitual offender with multiple prior convictions was on Parole at the time Bond was set at $250,000 with a GPS tether required upon release
