I believe. Come here. Hands outside the window. Show me hands. Show me hands. Both hands. I want to see both hands. PUT YOUR HANDS OUTSIDE THE WINDOW. KEEP YOUR HANDS UP IN THE AIR. Open the door. Do it now. Hands up in the air. You know what that means. In May 2025, Palm Bay police are called to the scene of a hit-and-run. All right, what happened? Uh it's kind of a hit-and-run with a drunk driver. Okay. Um I don't know if he's drunk. You got You witnessed it or Yeah, both of them witnessed it. I I saw the end of it when she was trying to get him to pull over. Yeah, but he >> He wouldn't pull over. I said, "Put the car in park. Stop." Yeah. And that's when I looked over and that was the center car and told him to use his siren and everything. And the police What did the guy look like? Um I was going to say he witnessed the whole thing. He's got it on video. Where is Where is your damage at, by the way? Um it's just a scrape back here. I mean, like This? Uh no. This one here. This This piece right here. And honestly, if I didn't move out of the way, he would have ran my whole rear cuz he was hauling You text that to me? Yes, sir. What's your number? Like he was hauling ass. >> Uh actually email. Oh. Uh Edwin dot Letz, L E T Z at Palm Bay F L dot gov. All right, is this the one photo of the guy driving? Uh I have a video as well of us trying to get him to pull over. I'll send all that to you. Okay. Can I have a video of his license plate? >> Yeah, I got it. Oh, okay. Let's start Start with what happened. So, when I first seen him on the road, I was pulling out of um it was a doctor's office that I was at. And he was on the other side and I'm only telling you this because this is why I think he's drunk because he's swerving. He's swerving like crazy behind me, right? He almost hits a Toyota something at another intersection where the Toyota did kind of cut him off. So, I was like, "Okay, whatever. It's not my business at this point." I'm pulling up to the light and I'm watching him cuz he's driving all types of crazy. And so, I'm watching him in his rearview mirror, he's not slowing down. Like he's going so fast. So, I actually have to pull over into I'm trying to pull over into the other lane. I only have so much room. And so, he still gets a good scrape. Is he like a side swipe area of your car? No, so this is like this is like the the corner of his car and that's only cuz I moved. You moved left? Yes. >> So, he's coming up behind you? >> cuz he's coming behind me and that's the only space I have. Um so, he's his front hits here because I'm now freaking out. And that's like I said, that's only cuz the angle I was at. Cuz I saw him coming in hot and I'm like I I don't want my car but or else it would have been all this would have been rammed in. Like yeah, he was that was fast. It was really fast. And what happened after the crash? Um so, after the crash, I got out of the car cuz I wanted to check if he really did hit me. You know, I'm not going to make a scene or anything if nothing was done. So, I got out of the car and I look at it and I'm like, "Yo, you just hit my car." You know, at this point I'm like I don't even care that much. >> window down? No. The only The only time his window ever went down was because he saw that he wouldn't pull over. He had already come over because he had backed up and just sat there. And then so, he saw me like, "Hello, like you just hit my car." And then so, he came over, started to try to get him to pull over, wasn't pulling over, he was about to run, so that's when he intervened. And that's when he finally put the window down, but he still ended up running anyway. So, I have a I do have a video of him pulling off and everything. >> that from him this time. >> Okay. Grab your ID for the time being, and I'll take care of the rest. You guys guys got IDs? Uh-huh. All right, what did you guys see? Um so, I saw exactly what she just told you. Um oh, sorry about that. Um Or he was pulling off already? He he was coming down this way. She tried to to merge into the other lane with little what little room she could. I heard the brakes squeal. That's when I looked over, and he came up and tapped her on the back. Squeal as in like he suddenly stopped? Yeah, like quickly. And uh so, I went over there, and I was like, "Hey, dude, you need to pull in here." You talked to him face to face? >> Yeah. Yeah, and then he came over, and uh we didn't get in front of the car or anything. Obviously, we're on the side, the driver's side. And uh he rolled his window down, and that's when he saw like a a vest, I guess, and we were telling him, "Look, you just hit it. It's a hit-and-run. You're going to jail if you run." And uh he just mumbled started mumbling, and drove off that way. Anything that uh you personally observed that other than the fact that his driving that he might be drunk? Well, I mean, uh we told him to put the window down. I've never seen a police officer not know where his front window is. He put the back down. >> like kind of fumbling? Yes. He He I mean, when you're driving, you know where your buttons are, but you're He didn't know he was putting down the wrong window. So, he did it was like he cracked it, and then fixed it, or he rolled it all the way down? >> all the way down. I said, "Put the [ __ ] window down." And then when he put the window down, that's when I saw the center console, looked over further to see if there was a weapon, and there sits the uh bulletproof sits his vest On the passenger seat? No, on the floor, which is unusual, cuz I don't know about but I always hung mine up and Yeah. All right. I mean, I I can tell you already that, you know, I don't know what agency it is yet, but I'm working to find, but before I got here, it is a government It is a government, yeah. So, I'm just trying to figure out all the confidential tags, they're they just tell us that they're distributed. They don't tell us to what agency, so we have to make a bunch of phone calls to figure out who it is. I've seen you before, but I don't know where. >> I got that, all right. Yeah, yeah. Just so you have it. Okay. You just see Hey, dude, you dude, it's a hit-and-run. You're going to jail. Dude, you left the scene. You're going to jail. You're a police officer already. Hey, hey, dude, stop. All right, let me let me send that that video out real quick. Police get a copy of the video of the driver who committed the hit-and-run. Stop, stop, right. I mean, were you LEO? Baltimore City SWAT team. Uh I mean, obviously uh you're even if you tap, you're going to get out What's that? I said, even if you tap somebody, you're going to get out and at least talk to them and figure out >> Exactly. You don't ever leave the scene of anything. Yep. So, like I said, I'm I'm sure there's more to the story. But, we'll find out. >> Something was Yeah, I I don't know what, but I really don't want to know. Uh I do. Okay. I put up with this 30 years in Baltimore City. I've seen everything I want to see. Yeah, I was I was actually a paramedic with the SWAT team when I was, but Yeah. It's doing Are you guys both in the same truck? No. Okay. My truck's there. No, no, no. I just was for the report. plates were good, so they're good. Yeah, yeah. I was more curious if you guys were riding together, saw it together. But you both went over essentially. I don't know if you can hear it, but I heard the whole thing. I heard something and that's when I realized you know, he must have hit her and then I saw her get out, come around. That's when I realized that's what happened. And then I see him trying to like wedge it around trying to and that's when I went over cuz I knew I could see there, but I had no idea he was going for until Yeah. Well, be safe, brother. >> Yep, we'll see what happens. Be safe, man. Yeah. You're good to go. Thank you. Thank you. All right, can't give your ID back, it's suspended. Are you joking me?
