Let's kick things off in Montana where a highway patrol trooper is in pursuit of an active shooting suspect. This dramatic incident was all captured on three dash cams. Just a heads up, this one gets pretty intense. Troopers believe the driver fatally shot one person and injured six bystanders earlier that morning outside a bar over 200 m away in Enis, Montana. As the trooper attempts to ram the vehicle, the suspect suddenly slams on the brakes. >> Get out of the ground. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. >> The shooter is taking cover behind his car and is now firing at the officers. In order to avoid the suspect's gunfire, the officer takes cover behind his own cruiser. The suspect is firing his 45 cal semi-automatic pistol at the cruiser's engine in an attempt to disable the vehicle. A Missoula County Sheriff's deputy arrives on the scene armed with a 12- gauge shotgun. The smoke coming from the engine obstructs the officer's view and the suspect now has an opportunity to escape. With the one cruiser out of commission, both officers get into the other patrol car and continue the chase. The suspect is now heading west towards Idaho at speeds of over 100 mph. Idaho officers have been dispatched for backup. >> Idaho got several headed that way up trying to get their current location. Near the Idaho Montana border, an Idaho officer has laid down spike strips in hopes of disabling the suspect's vehicle. Watch closely and you'll see the suspect open his door and fired directly at the oncoming officers. The suspect is ultimately disarmed and taken into custody. Authorities later learned the suspect was a trained mercenary and paramilitary veteran who served in Nicaragua. He was charged with deliberate homicide, criminal endangerment, assault on a peace officer, and seven counts of attempted deliberate homicide, and was sentenced to 11 life terms, the longest prison sentence in Montana history. He will never be released from prison and is not eligible for parole. [Music] He's got a headlight out. Hey, roll your window down, please. There you go. Thank you. Lieutenant Kennedy with the sheriff's office. You got your driver's license on you? Yes, >> sir. >> Where are you coming from? >> I headed towards my girlfriend's house. >> You're headed to your girlfriend's house. How much have you had a drink tonight? >> I haven't had anything to drink. >> You haven't had anything to drink at all? Yes, sir. >> Come back here with me real quick. >> Over here, buddy. >> So, uh, we ran his criminal history. He's already has six or seven DWI arrests. This will be his. Uh, he's been convicted four times. All we're trying to do is make sure you are okay to drive. Listen, that's all we're trying to check. Okay? And if you're good to go, you can get in your car and drive off. We just want to make sure that you're okay to do that. So, are you okay with Deputy Dickerson checking your eyes to make sure you're okay to drive? If so, we'll get you on your way, man. You're going to your girlfriend's house. >> I'm not letting him stick anything in my eyes. I >> don't put anything No one No, nothing's being shown in your eyes. Nothing's being stuck in your eyes. >> I know that. Just please. So it yes or no? Will you do that or not? >> I'm not going to do that. >> That's fine. Turn around. Do it. >> All right. I'll do it. No. >> Stop. Stop now. >> Stop. >> Oh, we got one resisting. >> Stop. Stop. What are you doing? >> I'm not doing anything. >> Then quit pulling up. >> I'm not doing anything. >> Stop. >> You're going to jail is what we're doing. >> Why? Why? Why? >> Open the car. >> Why? Why are we going to jail? >> Get in. Get in, >> sir. Why are we going to jail? Please stop. >> Stay in the car. >> You all right? Everybody okay? >> Yeah, we're good. >> Even though he was yelling, "I'm not doing anything. What are y'all doing?" He's still actively resisting us. Um he's looking at another felony DWI charge. Uh he could any 2 to 10 years is the punishment on that. U so it's very serious and I'm glad we got him off the street tonight. Once the driver was arrested that night, he refused to provide a breath specimen. Therefore, a blood search warrant was drawn up and signed by a judge for us to retrieve his blood. It was then sent to our DPS lab and the results came back sometime later which showed that his blood alcohol content was over double the legal limit that evening of a.186 >> Bristol Connecticut Thursday October 5th 2023 11:30 p.m. >> The lobby of this Bristol police department is a ghost town late on this Thursday night. Even the front desk officer station is dark and unoccupied, but it's not going to stay quiet for long. Just after 11:30 p.m., a surveillance camera fixed on the lobby captures a woman walking in with a lit cigarette in one hand and a pistol pressed against her head in the other. As she approaches the front desk area, she pulls the weapon away from her head. A second camera facing an entrance to the secure part of the station cords the woman banging the weapon against the bulletproof glass repeatedly. When no one responds to her banging, she tries a different approach. She fires a round at the door leading to the interior of the station which ricochets into a ceiling tile. Dust can be seen falling from the damage. If she didn't have the attention of officers before, she does now. The shooter then takes several steps backward, aims her weapon, and fires two shots at the level three ballistic glass, separating the lobby from the front desk. >> Level three ballistic polycarbonate glass is designed to withstand the impact of three shots from a 44 Magnum caliber weapon. >> Though there seems to be no apparent response to the gunfire, down the hall, outside the lobby, officers take up a tactical position just out of view of the shooter. Back in the lobby, the woman calmly drops her purse on one chair, drops the weapon on another chair, removes her jacket, and takes a long drag off her cigarette, and seems to be preparing for a potentially long night. But when she takes a seat on a chair, she aims the weapon at her temple once more. Meanwhile, officers are hoping to avoid getting in a shootout inside the police station. They remain in a defensive position and attempt to negotiate a surrender. In the lobby, the woman continues smoking her cigarette, then fires two shots at the secure door, which failed to penetrate. About to possibly engage in a shootout, one officer poses a very good question. >> Hey, are these windows bulletproof? >> Shots fired. >> Meanwhile, the shooter drops her weapon, gets up, and alternates between slamming her fist against the wall and pacing back and forth. From their tactical position, officers wait for their chance to end this standoff as safely as possible. >> That's her right here. Right. >> Yep. >> Get down. >> Get on the ground. >> You see yours? >> Nope. She just went back. She by the bathroom. >> Get on the ground. >> Okay. She just went to the right. >> Not have a gun in her hand right now. >> With a woman facing away from the secure door and her weapon on a bench. Officers seize their opportunity to bring an end to the situation. >> Okay. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go. Officers burst through the door and tase the woman before she can reach her firearm. The woman is identified as 51-year-old Suzanne Le. She is transported to a local hospital for evaluation and subsequently released to police custody. LeRise was charged with attempt to commit murder and multiple weapon charges. As of November 2023, LeRise is being held by the Connecticut Department of Corrections on a $1 million bond pending the outcome of her case. As for why she entered a police station with a gun, a witness told police the prize intended to commit suicide by cop. The weapon she used to commit her crimes belonged to her NYPD officer boyfriend. Thanks to the response from police on scene, she avoided any serious injury. Where a traffic stop on a speeding driver suddenly takes a crazy turn. It was all caught on the officer's dash cam. >> Cited you for speeding. Here's what I'm going to do for you. This is your third offense in this year. I can enhance this ticket to a fourthderee misdemeanor because of that. I'm not going to do >> I don't know what that means. >> What that means is I can give you 30 days in jail on a $250 fine ticket or I can give you a regular speeding ticket. I'm going to give you the regular speeding ticket and not give you the one that has the possible jail penalty involved. Because you've had two priors, you will have to appear in court for this one. The court date is the 5th of November 12 noon. I haven't had a speeding ticket in 25 years. >> That doesn't make any difference at all. You've had two this year. A speed and a stop sign both in March. All of the court information is in this brochure right there. >> Can you repeat everything you just said to me? >> No, I'm going to repeat it to you. You're the one who's getting the ticket. >> Well, I'm the one whose life has been destroyed by police officers and I can't handle this. >> Okay. All you need to do is sign the ticket and you'll be done. >> Signing anything? >> You're not signing anything? Okay. If you don't sign the ticket, I'm going to arrest you right now. >> You're not going to arrest me for not signing a ticket. >> I'm going to arrest you for not signing the ticket. >> I'm I cannot sign that ticket. >> Step out of the car. Sign the ticket. >> I'm I cannot sign that ticket. >> Step out of the car. Under arrest. >> I'm not under arrest. >> Refusing to sign a citation is grounds for an arrest. >> Step out of the car. >> I can't do this. You're under arrest. Step out of the car. You're under arrest. >> You're under arrest. She's under arrest. Step back. Not finding the ticket. >> That's the woman's husband who has just arrived on the scene. She had called him earlier as she was being pulled over. >> Take a video, man. Take a video. Take a video. Take a video. >> Luckily, all of this is being recorded on the patrol car's dash cam. >> Stop resisting or you're going to get charged more. I'm not you. He's threatened me with jail. He threatened me with jail. I can't do this. Officer, I can't do this. You really shouldn't. You should >> sit down. >> You have to understand all this to me. I'm trying to explain my wife. Very, very, very, >> you got listen. >> What? I asked him to read you what you were telling what he was telling me to you and he refused. >> He refused, but he already arrested me again. >> This could all have been avoided if she had just signed the appearance ticket. >> Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Hey, stop. Listen. I'm trying to help you. >> Really? Really? >> You have to sign the ticket. Keep your cool. >> I was, but I asked him to tell you what he told me before I signed it, and he didn't like it. >> Just sign it. Just sign it. Just sign it in your own free, please. >> Oh, really? I didn't refuse the first time. >> Okay, breathe. Breathe. >> Okay, I didn't ask. I need help. Why did he sign? The suspect eventually did sign the
