Hey everyone, welcome back to the Police Cam channel. Today we're looking at a stop that starts with a pretty unbelievable excuse. Officers confront a 21-year-old driver whose car is completely missing its front bumper. She admits to having a drink at Applebee's earlier and makes sure to casually mention that her dad is a police officer. But when the officer asks if she just took out a traffic light down the road, she doesn't blink. She insists the massive front end damage is actually from hitting a deer in Pennsylvania a whole month ago. >> Come back from Applebees. >> Yeah, I had a drink. >> Okay. How old are you? >> 21. >> You're 21. >> My dad is um >> John Lee. Okay. >> Listen, your bumper's in the road over there. >> Okay. Did you just hit that pole? >> No, I promise you I do not. >> No. So, someone brings that bumper over here. It's not going to match up perfectly. You're coming from Applebees. You're telling me you went out that way. Everything's matching up. Witnesses said they saw a white car cross over in this direction. And I happen to find your car parked here >> with no with no bumper. >> Okay. All right. So, Teresa, >> yes. >> Let me ask you again. Yeah, >> you left Applebee's. >> Yeah, I left Applebee's. >> You cut through the plaza. You came out by Lowe's and Chick-fil-A. >> Yeah. >> Did you hit the traffic pole? That's right there. I >> did not hit the traffic pole. >> Do you not remember hitting a traffic pole? >> I did not hit the traffic pole. I promise you. >> So, your bumper's in the middle of the road over there. And there's a pole down. >> This part was hanging off already cuz I already hit something. >> Okay. when I I hit a deer in Pennsylvania cuz I go to school in and the the this bar was clean off already. >> Okay. >> Do you smoke marijuana recreationally? No, >> I do not smoke marijuana. >> I do not smoke marijuana universally. >> Do you do any recreational drugs? Teresa, I explained to you this before. Lying isn't going to get you anywhere. You know the truth. You just lied. You just lied. We just caught you at a lie. Can you tell yourself by the traffic light by Lowe's? You said you should be saw in Pennsylvania. You told me you hit a deer. You took my wheel. A whole bunch of stories. >> You're a Pennsylvania guy. >> You just traffic light. >> I hit it. >> You see this? >> This piece fell off of the traffic light that you hit that you knocked over. Lying doesn't help anything. Where were you coming from? >> I came from Alise. I had one drink everywhere. >> Okay. After Apple, where'd you go? >> I I came from there. The the traffic light that's right there. And then I came around in there because my house is I would have to go put my traffic light to there. >> Okay, that doesn't really make too much sense either considering that the traffic light that you took out was on the corner. which corner >> of the back entrance of Lowe's. That doesn't make too much sense considering where the damage was and where the pulley that was. >> So here, ready? Plainsville Road. >> Yes, >> Lowe's is on the right. You hit the You hit the traffic light on the right hand side of Lowe's with the passenger side of your vehicle, which is where this piece was, which matches identically, which didn't fall off in Pennsylvania, which fell off in Pennsylvania. I know that I hit a deer in Pennsylvania. Yeah. Well, you also got a telephone pole today for a traffic light today. >> Yeah, I was looking at something today. I'm sorry. Afterwards, he said he just left work. It was still up when he was pulling out and then as he was pulling out the caller. >> No, he was just hanging out. So we we got 81. >> You want to uh just go check 9 south real quick? >> Yeah, there's a white bumper here. All right, be advised we have a white bumper. >> Yeah. Yep. >> Okay. away from the river. >> What kind of car was it? >> I think a white Toyota. >> A white Toyota. Did you get a license plate by chance? >> I applied for this car. >> Okay. Any distinguishing characteristics on it or just a white? >> I couldn't see who it was. >> Okay. Was it a four-door, two door? >> 670. I'm going to check 9 south. Okay. >> Be advised, we spoke to the person who observed the crash. They stay. At around the 5minute mark, the footage cuts over to the actual crash scene. Officers are busy cleaning up the mess. A downed traffic pole and hazardous wiring scattered across the road. And sitting right there in the debris, a white bumper that perfectly matches our driver's damaged car, totally blowing her story out of the It was a Toyota four-door, most likely Camry or silver model. possibly 9 south possibly cross over nine and then continue on lane towards 10. No other description on the main vehicle or driver. >> I beg your pardon? You see those lights? I can park wherever I want. Plus, there's a road hazard in case you can't see. >> I see that. >> I know you got those big glasses there, but what's up? >> What's up, man? >> Yeah. took it took it out. >> Peeled out, took off. >> Yep. Yep. Yep. >> So now I got to figure out who's respons. >> Yeah. Thanks. >> Later. Do you know who's in charge of the traffic light here? We're kind of at right now for it's going to be on the north side of Lane's Mill near the entrance for Lowe's. Look at this. That one works. These ones work. So, the light will still function. I know the owner of the property for BJ had it like stolen. We don't know if we took them over or if they're still taking the property of DJs. >> Double. >> Yeah. Going to try BJ first. Basically, you just adise Lakewood. Here's the damage is going to be the front passenger side and they're missing a piece of the bumper probably around the headlight area. Yeah. Like information on the actual traffic light. >> I think I got it at Walmart. Kilo 9 0 papa alpha moment white Subaru. All right. Uh I'm going to try to push this side. You try to push that side. We'll try and see if we can clear the roadway a little bit here. >> Okay. Uh, don't touch any wire. >> If it doesn't go, if it doesn't >> doesn't go, don't force it. >> All right. On three. Ready? One, two, three. >> See if we can both pick that up. We should be able. >> Yeah. >> All right. If anybody's in the area, you just bring some cones out. We're able to move it off the side of the road a little bit more. >> Make it passible. There you go. Uh, grab some flares real quick. Yeah. Freezing though. >> 65. We're just going to fly this out for now. >> Uh Wawa. So when you get here in the cap uh here, hold this. Hold. Is there a way to Okay. All right. So, grab one with cap. We'll light one and then light off. We'll use up that one since that one. this one over here. Got to still run over flips. the people I talk to the intersection. You have another unit. >> Negative. They just flared off the traffic. We're heading over to Wawa now. 4. Did you bring her bumper here? >> Hey firm, we have it. >> From um >> uh Applebee's. >> You come back from Applebees? >> Yeah, I had a drink. >> Okay. How old are you? >> 21. >> You're 21? >> My dad is um >> Who's that? Shan Lee. Okay. All right. >> I'm sorry. My um >> Back at the stop, the officer gives her one last chance to just tell the truth. Even with the physical evidence literally sitting in the middle of the road a few blocks away. She refuses to back down. She tries to nervously map out her route home to prove her innocence, but the officers already know they've caught her in a lie. >> I think I left my wallet. at Applebee's. >> Sorry. Just keep your hands out of your pockets, please. >> That's okay. So, you're coming from Applebee's right now? >> Yeah. I had a drink. >> Okay. Which way did you take to go from Applebee's to here? >> Um I went around um at the light at Route 9 and I came back from here and then ran back and then here cuz empty gas. >> So, you went over by like Lowe's. >> No, that you came out of Applebee's. >> We came out of Applebee's. The light Which way? >> Yeah, the light the Lowe's, I guess. Right there. All right. >> You cut through Applebee's, right? You went through the plaza. You came out by Lowe's by Chick-fil-A. You made the right traffic light right there. >> Okay. Did you hit that pole that's over there? >> No. >> You hit the utility pole. >> Anything in >> cuz your bumper's in the middle of the road. >> No, my um I hit the So, do you see this side? >> Yeah. >> I hit this. >> Okay. at my um >> how long ago? >> Like about a month ago on my ex's. >> Okay. >> Because he broke up with me and I broke up with him and >> All right. Go hang about back over there. Keep your hands in your pockets, please. It's okay. >> I'm sorry. >> Listen, your bumper's in the road over there. >> Okay. Did you just hit that pole? >> No, I promise you I did not. >> No. So, someone brings that bumper over here, it's not going to match up perfectly. You're coming from Applebee's. You're telling me you went out that way. Everything's matching up. Witnesses said they saw a white car cross over in this direction. And I happen to find your car parked here >> with no with no bumper. >> Okay. All right. 670. Do you have another unit out with you? >> Oh my god. All right, hang out. >> What's up? >> Negative. >> What's that for? Can you bring her bumper here? Hey, we got him. >> So, Teresa, >> yes. >> Let me ask you again. >> Yeah. >> You left Applebee? >> Yeah, I left Applebees. >> You cut through the plaza. You came out by Lowe's and Chick-fil-A. Yeah. >> Did you hit the traffic pole that's right there? >> I did not hit the traffic pole. >> Do you not remember hitting the traffic pole? >> I did not hit the traffic pole. I promise you. So, your bumper's in the middle of the road over there and there's a pole down. >> This part was hanging off already cuz I already hit something. >> Okay. >> When I I hit a deer in Pennsylvania cuz I go to school in and the the this car was hanging off already. >> Okay. Do you smoke marijuana recreationally? No, >> I do not smoke marijuana. >> What do you prescribe that you put you have on your >> I'm a soccer athlete. >> I understand. What's the prescription medicine that you had that I Can I call my dad who's a sheriff's officer? >> Let the one officer come here who's who's out with your other part of your bumper. He's going to talk to you and then we'll go from there. Okay. Well, you go to college. >> Yes, I go to Yeah, I have a soccer captain there. >> Okay. >> I do not smoke marijuana universally. Do you do any recreational drugs? I prescribed any other. That's it. Uh, just hang out with this officer for a second. Okay. Muting for a conference. Teresa is her name. The car comes back to her dad or somebody else. >> I I told my dad. >> That's great. You just met your honor. Well, the scene's over there. You're over here. >> You said that fell off the vein, but now you're talking. >> How old are you? >> I'm 21 Apple. I'm like scared of my body. >> But Teresa, I explained to you this before. Lying isn't going to get you anywhere. At least you know the truth. You just lied. You just lied. We just caught you in a lie. Can you tell me I found this piece over by the traffic light? I lose. You said you fell off from Pennsylvania. You told me you hit a deer. You took my wheel. A whole bunch of stories. >> You're a Pennsylvania. >> You just traffic light. >> You see this? Well, I hit it before you can like that. >> This piece fell off in the traffic lane that you hit that you knocked over. >> Lying doesn't help anything. Where were you coming from? >> I came from Alise. I had one drink. >> Okay. After Apple, where'd you go? >> I I came from there. The the traffic light that's right there. And then I came around and there because my house is I would have to go put that traffic light to there. >> Okay, that doesn't really make too much sense either considering that the traffic light that you took out was on the corner. >> Which corner >> of the back entrance of Lowe's? >> The back entrance of Lowe's. Lowe's have to go around there. So I have to go around there right there. >> Here's I'm just going to draw this out for you. So here's the corner for the back entrance for Lowe's. Your vehicle came and impacted it on the passenger side hitting the traffic lane. So that means that you're coming from down in a different part of Lanesville Road. Can you see that Hawaii or Apple right there? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So I would go that way. I would go that way, which Lowe's is right there. Then I would go the traffic lights to the LA Fitness, which right there, which is my gym. Then I would go that way which is goes down to the quick check which is that way and I would make a right that was that way and it's pretty wide road. >> Again that does that doesn't make too much sense considering where the damage was and where the pulley that was. So here readyville road >> yes >> Lowe's is on the right. You hit the tra You hit the traffic light on the right hand side of Lowe's with the passenger side of your vehicle, which is where this piece was, which matches identically, which didn't fall off in Pennsylvania, which fell off. >> Pennsylvania. I know that. I hit a deer in Pennsylvania. >> Well, you also hit a telephone pole today or a traffic light today. >> And I I must have hit something today. I'm sorry. >> So, you you don't know that you hit a a traffic light. >> I did not hit a traffic light today. So, you mean to tell me that's just a coincidence that this was on >> I hit a traffic light today? >> So, again, you mean to tell me that this is just a coincidence that this piece was found right next to a traffic light? >> I'm not saying that I was coming home from my boyfriend's house the one day where I hit a um cross. He was just calling my dad. He was a sheriff's officer. He would tell you this. I hit a traffic or What's up? >> Yeah, >> she's got guacamole everywhere. >> She got guac everywhere. I was trying to figure out what the green stuff was and I saw >> that's not happening. >> Chips and guac. >> Yeah, I know. Yeah, I don't know. up in in Pennsylvania. I was saying that I hit a thing in here and this damaged this here and then I must have hit something today and then this fell off. I'm not saying that I'm lying. I'm saying like >> and I'm I'm just saying to you that you hit a traffic light at the corner of Lville Road back at Lowe's. >> Okay. >> And then you left the scene. >> I did not. >> Did Did you call 911? Did you report it? No, I did not drive over here. >> I was getting gas and I was at zero. >> What uh what is that traffic light that is right in the middle by Lowe's and LA Fitness right there? >> That one. >> So, it's the one on the corner. On the corner. >> You're coming this way. >> Yeah. >> Road on the corner. >> Yeah. >> If you were to go to back, there's one right before that on the low side. >> On the low side. Yeah. This tire is all This rim's all messed up, too, on this side. Stop. >> That's already messed up for the other. >> I know. I was right next to Yeah, I know. >> I was at Duncan and the guy backed into me in this this accident. >> Listen, are you just scared you're going to get tickets or something? >> Yes. >> Is that all it is? >> Yes. >> So, you want to just tell the truth? >> Yes, I'm telling you this. >> So, after Applebee's, did you hit a traffic pole? >> I think I hit something. I remember hitting something. >> You can't miss it. It lights up. It's red, green, and yellow. I remember hitting something after Applebee's and saying like >> and did you drive away cuz you're scared cuz you had maybe had one drink and you think you're drunk >> and you might get arrested but you don't seem like you're drunk. >> Yes. >> Is that what's going on? >> So you drove away cuz you're scared so you might get some tickets and maybe you might get arrested. Is that why? >> Yes. >> Okay. So now we're starting to tell the truth, right? I remember hitting something, but I remember like like from like before this I already hit something and he he >> So you're saying there was some damage but obviously your bumper is over there like this officer was saying >> this was already damaged. This was already this fell off because of already damage. >> Okay. But it fell off on Lanes Mill where the pulley is in the middle of the road. >> My dad didn't even tell you. >> Well, here's the thing. Your dad the sheriff's officer wasn't driving your vehicle today. Your dad tell you it's already damaged that they already reported to the insurance. You already reported everything >> on the right. You're 21. You're an adult. We're trying to figure out what happened with you and driving and leaving the city. >> I hit a curb. >> You hit a traffic signal. >> Oh, I hit a curb. >> Yeah, you went up the curb. You hit the traffic signal. The traffic signal fell down and you left. >> Someone was texting. >> That's why. And I already had damage. I still I'm just trying to figure out how cuz if you went the back entrance to come out of the Lanesville marketplace that that still doesn't make sense. >> Damage me on the driver's side >> because this is where you hit the the traffic light. >> If I came out of >> again I'm I'm telling you I'm telling you your story doesn't make sense. >> That is that way. No. >> So what is it? It looks like she It looks like she was going east on Lansville, but she's saying she was going west based on where it is where and that way. >> All right. All right. I'm talking the let me let me damage one lineup. >> Okay. So, I was that Applebee's. I went that way. I could have curved that way, which is that way, which is that road that goes back ways to the Jackson quick check that is like right there. And like I know, >> give your dad a call now that we figured out what's happening and you're telling someone the truth. >> I still just thought she comes out of that. I don't Is that bag with Glock that's on your face and all over your car? Is that from Applebee's? That's from Applebee's. That's an Applebee's bag. >> That's not an Applebee's bag. >> No, it's a >> So, are you coming from Applebees or you coming from somewhere else? Is that from tonight? >> Where? >> Where is that? >> It's right there. It's right next to Applebees. >> I just IHOP. Teresa >> I just need to talk to the phone. >> Yeah, I think I think she's scared she's hanging out with a boy or something and the dad is I don't know. This makes no sense at all. >> Maybe hanging out with a guy. Yeah, she doesn't want Yeah, exactly. Something like that. So, she spun around or something or she's going to a guy's house or something. >> Who knows? Yeah. Teresa, what's your name? >> John, right? >> Hey, John. How are you? Um, so you're going around and I don't know. She's just nervous and scared. She was texting. I don't really know what the deal is. She's kind of frantic and the story that she was telling us wasn't really making too much sense. Just give me a heads up. >> How bad's that light? >> How bad's that light? It's down. It's like in the middle of the road. It doesn't make sense because the way that >> we were able to move out of the road a little bit more. >> You lo you were texting. You hit a pole. It fell. You drove away. >> Yeah. The car's drivable. Um I'll just you know >> just let this officer talk to you, Dad. Okay. She might tired. >> Yeah, I think she just [bell] >> Okay. Did she Did she get into a crash? That's pretty good. She did. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> And she did. Yes. >> Okay. Where what did she What was the deal with that grass where the dam was on the car? >> Okay. The damage on that on the car there. I think if I'm I'm trying to remember this, it was like the front right bumper and down the side. There was some bending and scratching going down the side. >> Okay. How bad was the front bumper? It was the front bumper. Yes. >> How bad was the front bumper? >> Oh, how bad? It was uh Yeah, it was a little bit little bit of damage. I mean, like I said, it was it was very dry. I've had this flight just called today to get an appointment for an estimate for it. Um but like so like the fog light area was kind of uh something kind of thing. >> Okay, that's the bottom side. >> Yeah, the was the passenger side. >> Okay. All right. Uh it looks like the fog the fog light thing. I don't know if it's a fog light or if it's like a plastic piece. So, that's gone. The the bumper cracked and then there was another piece of the bumper right below the headlight that fell off by the traffic light that she took out. >> Okay. All right. >> You say took it out and came down. >> Yeah, she took it down. And then >> she was trying to say that the the one piece that was newly missing from this incident was in Pennsylvania uh from the other crash. So, I just wanted to talk to you and get, you know, a better idea of what actually happened there. >> I I the only thing I know is that they there was the I don't know like a like a rectangle black thing that was missing. The bumper was wasn't me that's what piece you're talking about. So, >> yeah. So, where that rectangle black thing is, there's a white piece of plastic. >> So, that came off in this crash and the bumper is like kind of hanging, but it is drivable. Um, so that's that's kind of that's kind of where we're at right now with this. >> All right, no problem. Uh, can can I come out? Are you guys out there? >> Uh, that's up to you. I I'll see if she wants you to come out. If she wants, you know, you to drive her home. Um, she needs to >> Yeah, she's at the uh the Waw Wa on by Kent Road. >> Oh, okay. Gotcha. >> So, yeah. Uh, I think it might be best if you found her because like I said, she's she's upset. still very nervous. So, okay. >> Yeah. All right. I I appreciate it. Let me let me come out there and and I'll see you guys. Thank you. >> Okay. All right. Sounds good. Thanks. >> All right. >> I think she lost her license maybe when I first asked her, but she was still frantic before the key. Uh, no. I think it's a fob. >> You left it at Applebee's. >> She said you bang the hole >> probably. I asked her when I first pulled here and she showed she opened her wall and it was empty. >> I was going to call him back. >> Who's coming out? >> I think it's right here. >> License. It fell. >> Is it off? What does it look like? >> It's a selfies. Is it on a blue and white lanyard? >> What? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Is it? What is it? In between the door and the passenger. Okay. Between the door there. >> Oh, okay. >> He asked what was going on. He said, "All right, I'll >> Yeah, you grab it. Nice shine job, kid." [clears throat] >> Yeah. Sorry. This is my new license. >> Yeah, I just need the registration to get your >> How far is your house from here? >> Yeah, you guys are coming >> just because you're still very upset. So Take that one. >> Uh now this is the roadside service. Yeah. Hey, real quick. the same policy though, right? >> He's telling you what they >> Yeah. >> What's your photo? surprised there's so little damage. >> But that I'm surprised there's so little damage for taking out the pole talking. >> Unless this is what is throwing me off. Unless that's old. Unless when she popped it, she swerved back up to her. That makes sense. Like coming out of that plaza, >> well, where was she? There's no Mexican place right here. She think of as like Chipotle or the place in Renttown coming back. She went up whatever and came out came up with lanes and all to go back across towards Jackson. All right. So, if she went that way, that also doesn't make sense. >> Yeah. Apparently, so this piece that's actually this is like >> Yeah. >> Um, she came out of that light. >> Nah, it doesn't. >> Yeah, cuz she came out of the light. Yeah. Right. >> There's either way to go all the way out there. I don't even know if you can. Can you get to that light from Arugas or do you have to go out to come back around? >> It's maybe it's possible. She went to the Arugas, came out, went to Deli Fitness, came out, took the turn too wide as she was texting. She said she spun around, right? Do you think she tried to make like that U-turn there and just blasted the light? So, did you go to where it was before or after confusing like the direction of travel and how she hit it on that side? >> Well, that's why it doesn't make sense. >> I don't get it. >> She also was Apple bees and she arug. >> Yeah, that's what I was just saying. She came out of Arugas, realized she was going the wrong way, tried to whip it, and as she whipped it, blasted it on that side, tried to adjust after hitting it, popped a curb on this side. >> That makes sense. Yeah, >> if that's what she did, >> cuz coming this way makes sense. If she's going back to Jackson, >> then realize she's on east. If she pops in here, try to get gas. >> Either way, if she's in Alb's only, you're not going that way. She still doesn't know. >> What's that? >> She still doesn't know. >> She said she was at Applebee's. Then she went to a room guacamole. Asked her how she got like back which way she went and she said seemed like she like took the jug handle to go across Lanesville, which that doesn't make any sense either. >> On the truth here. >> I don't know. It's still just like nothing cuz she took the pole. She's going this way though cuz the pole here falls over that falls off. Yeah, cuz I I mean, can you even get to that light from Arugas? Doesn't Arugus have its own >> So Arugas come out by like the >> cross over? >> No, but I'm saying like on the side Mill. Doesn't it have its own entrance? if you come out by I don't know if it has its own exit by the bank or before the bank or if you have to go through like uh the auto zone or whatever one's there. >> Either way though there's that like separation between where it makes sense >> because if she came out this way not paying attention clips it and then she adjusts and the curb side left she probably came out realized she was going the wrong way. She's on her phone or doing whatever. It's like oh look I can just do this. Nobody's coming. Kadoo auto correct over adjust. That's how she gets the damage on this side. She kept going. Came back down over the curb and then move that whole pole off the road. >> Yeah, we just pushed it over to the sideell. Different story. Yeah. Hope to give him a call after. Say where he at. >> I assume he was leaving headquarters, but I don't know. >> He didn't want to call you cuz he figured you were doing whatever. bloodshot. I know just what you're saying just doesn't make sense. But >> which I don't get why if like all you did was hit his dad. You know what I'm saying? If all you did was hit the thing, why just just tell us what he did? >> Yeah. >> You know what I mean? What are you so scared of? That's what I don't get. What she's so freaked out about everything here. >> So, what's the guy? >> So, what she's saying like and where the damage was just doesn't really make too much sense. tried to get some more information out of her, but figures out another soul out here tonight. >> What's that? >> Somebody. No, >> no, not tonight. >> So, she is at that. >> Yeah. So, you know where back entrance is? >> Yes. >> Where like LA Fitness is in that intersection? >> Yes. >> So, look by the low side. >> What came down? came in and then that piece above there was there but was described with the other damage the other black piece obviously. >> Yeah. No, it was more than that. I mean that I mean that's more than it was. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So the other one was it just like the bumper wasn't hanging like that? >> Yeah. No. So what it was is um basically this was intact. >> Okay. >> Um this piece was missing but these scratches here >> that's all from a gear that she It's actually so that's okay cuz once you described it to me I was like you know power to pick up surprised that's okay. So when is the um who's all the students? >> So right now this is going to be my call coming out details. Who's your supervisor? >> Not too I'm just asking. I got >> um so what is it looking like now? >> That's pretty much it. Um, you know, I think maybe she made a return because she said she was at least that she went to approve this then left. So if she goes down just to surprise you or something, I I got off work left shift. I'm on the warrant squad, right? So just I I just want to show you this so you can see it. Um, I don't know what time you you initiated the stop. >> Uh, you home 10:39. So, what time did you stop her at? Because she probably got nervous. And I'm not saying that's We know that's not an excuse. I get it. But what do you think time do you think that initial call came? Because she probably hit it and was like, "Dad, what the [ __ ] do I do?" >> It's probably I would say somewhere between 10:45 and 11. That's about right. >> Hey, Sergeant. How are you? >> 1050. Okay. >> Um, right. So, that would [clears throat] probably be about the time she hit it. What time? She text me originally at I was trying to get some sleep. I just got off work. Um, she said, "You home at 10:39." >> Yeah. Yeah. That's about when say somewhere we got it. >> Right. So, she hit the ben got nervous and >> Okay.
