On April 27th, 2025, officers were dispatched to a Gap store for a report of a retail theft in progress. DePrince Lewis, who struck an officer while attempting to flee, was found to have an active felony warrant for a firearm offense. While his resisting charges in this case were eventually dismissed but read in, he pleaded guilty to charges in a separate felony matter in 2026.
