Just 2 months after George Floyd's murder, a pro police rally was organized in Snomish County. And like any other pro police rally, counterprotesters were quick to show up. They beat their children. They beat their wives. It's family violence, at least 40%. According to the deputies at the scene, there are around 300 attendees. This man that's holding the donut is Benjamin Hansen. He starts walking up to police officers and starts trolling them using the donut. One of the deputies found it hilarious. I wanted to know if any of you guys wanted to bite. I had like 10 donuts before I came over. However, this undercover lieutenant did not find it amusing. Hey, any of you lickers? Get that [ __ ] [ __ ] away from my face. Get the [ __ ] away from me. What the [ __ ] Yeah, you got that. Thank you, sir. Let me get all those badge numbers. Badge numbers. Names. Badge numbers. Names. Thank. This is Marshall James. Simon Simon. Let's just call him Marshall James. He is the one that physically assaulted Benjamin Hansen. And now he and his pals are in cover up mode. Don't touch me. I'm the What am I getting arrested for? I think it's time for you to go. Oh, what's he What's he getting arrested for? What's he getting arrested for? Back off. Back off. Please don't catch me. He assaulted Lieutenant. You back off or you'll go to jail. Wait a minute. This doesn't even make any sense. Isn't this the guy that was laughing at first? I wanted to know if any of you guys wanted to fight. Benjamin Hansen was arrested for fourthderee assault and released the next day after making $1,000 bail. Keep in mind there was no evidence that Benjamin Hansen made any physical contact with the officers or anyone for that matter. In the arrest report, Marshall James wrote that Benjamin Hansen pushed the donut towards the lieutenant's face. To avoid being jabbed, the lieutenant backed up against the retaining wall and a railing of a staircase. When Benjamin Hansen pushed the stick further towards the lieutenant, he was unable to move out of the way anymore. The video completely contradicts the report. When the donut was placed in front of the lieutenant, he never backs away and he remains in the same position he was in the whole time. County Prosecutor Adam Cornell reviewed footage of this incident and the arrest report and made the decision not to file criminal charges because he didn't think there's any jury in the county that's going to convict the young man of fourthderee assault based on the evidence he knew of so far. He also said that he has an ethical obligation to only bring charges where he thinks the facts meet the law. In this case, the facts in the law do not establish at all the commission of a crime beyond a reasonable doubt. And with that, the criminal case has ended. And a civil case began against the officers. Benjamin Hansen, who was represented by attorney Braden Pence, or Mr. Pence submitted a claim for damages to Snowomish County's risk management division alleging that he was assaulted by a law enforcement officer and subject to racial discrimination and then unlawfully detained for one day. Mr. Pence said, "The shameful truth is that without the video recordings, Lieutenant Morris and Marshall James would likely have gone away with this abuse of power. The entirely unnecessary assault and casual collusion between officers to construct a false report of a nonviolent protester is shocking and leads one to wonder how many other Snowomish County citizens not protected by a video recording have likely been likewise victimized by sheriff's office employees. These facts speak to a culture of indifference and impunity that Snowomish County should work diligently to correct. The damage claim points out inconsistencies between Marshall James report and what can be seen in the video. The time between the lieutenant beginning to talk and the time Marshall James shoved Hansen was about 4 seconds. Hey, any of you? Get that [ __ ] [ __ ] away from my face. Get the [ __ ] away from me. What the [ __ ] Snowomish County decided to settle the case for $21,000. Not bad amount for an 18year-old to pocket for simply trolling cops and spending a day in jail. All right, let's watch these people that are trolling these cops. Gentlemen, how's it going? Good. He's going to make some good content, huh? Do you have an idea on your boss? He's deaf. He doesn't?
