On April 22nd, [music] 2024, officers responded to a reported burglary on Youngstown's [music] West Side, where a home had been ransacked and a family's dog was missing. But, what deputies would uncover, including a fleeing suspect, [music] a weapon in plain view, and a stolen pet hidden inside the vehicle, would quickly turn the investigation into something far more serious. Put the window down. You have your license, registration, insurance on you, ma'am? Why are you turning me over? You have your license, registration, insurance? >> No, why are you pulling me over? Well, you're a possible suspect in a burglary. A burglary? Go ahead and turn the car off. >> A dog that's being mistreated? Turn the car off. Yeah, whatever. Turn the car off. Get off. Turn the car off. Step out. >> Don't. Step out. Pull me. There's a dog, and he's >> Get this Get your dog. >> No, that's my dog. >> Get your dog and put him in the car. >> dog. >> Get your dog and put him in the car. >> That's my dog. Get in the car. Sit in the car. Move your feet. But within moments, officers would make a discovery that changed everything. It's a It's a burglary. She kicked in the door. She stabbed the out of the doors. Stole her dog. And then she drove by the house. She's like She's like, "F you, enners." All She stole all this stuff. Huh? Yeah, I had to throw her on the ground. Her face is all [ __ ] up. Heather Cutlet? What's that? Sandals. I wish. Uh the victim's dog is a small one. That's the suspect's dog right there. >> [laughter] >> I got an ambulance coming for you, all right? Copy. It's going to be for a head injury. >> [laughter] >> Why did you resist? Why? Because I didn't do nothing. This is a piece of [ __ ] over there. Buddy, he's a piece of [ __ ] Okay. Nobody will listen to me. I'm trying to >> [laughter] >> help my son. Yeah. She uh broke in the house and stole the guy's dog and I took the dog because the dog was in the kennel and he was all by himself. Huh? I had to throw him on the ground. That's why I took the dog. Okay. Hang tight. And just moments later, everything finally came full circle. We got your dog. Dog back. It's right here. Oh no. That's one. That's one. Come down here. Yeti, come here, baby. We got her. Don't worry. Come on, bubs. You want to get your keys? You want to come back for it? Yeah. All right. Thanks. It seems like yeah, he might be a problem. Problem. All right, he was cool. He was cool earlier. He was calm. He's like Originally I just thought it was one person. Wait, is that her? Is that his house right there? No, he lives uh on Manhattan, around the corner. She She stopped. Um So I I go up to the car. I see the one dog. I'm like, "What are you doing driving past the house?" I'm like, "What the what the [ __ ] are you doing?" She's like, "Why you stop me?" I'm like, "Give me your license, registration, insurance." She's like, "No." So I'm like, "Okay." I saw the knife on the seat. So I open the door. I'm like, "Get out of the car." Uh She's like, "Why you stop me?" So I go and take the key out. She pushes me out. I'm like, "All right." She turns it off, gets out. Cuz of that, she's like, "Here, take this [ __ ] dog." Opens it, lets the dog out. I'm like, "All right, you're under arrest." Put your hands behind your back. She starts fighting me. We're on the ground. But as officers tried to piece everything together, the suspect had her own version of the story. Oh, I committed burglary. >> Yeah. >> Right? Right? Because a [ __ ] drug addict was hurting my son. Huh? Do you know this story? Huh? You think you have the right to break into his house? >> Do you all right to go get a dog that was [ __ ] in a cage? Right. Right. Cuz you Why don't you look up his his history? That's why I went to go get the dog. He my son up. Oh, but we're going to look at burglary. Why don't you look that he's a piece of Huh? Did I say piece of [ __ ] He had a dog locked up in a cage all day. And I went and got the dog. SO YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE ME LOOK LIKE I'M A GODDAMN SIT DOWN. SIT DOWN. RIGHT. RIGHT. SIT DOWN. RIGHT. KNOCK IT OFF. OH, WOW. You're a being a piece of piece of [ __ ] Wow, you're a badass. Right. Right. Right. Right. Get up. Keep it up. You. You guys don't know. Antoine Davis is a piece of Where's my Aussie? Oh, you're going to run your mouth again, [ __ ] Huh, where's Ozzy? I took him to the pound. Oh, he took him to the pound. Yes, ma'am. Okay. Hold on. I was trying to save that dog. That's it. Because Antoine was leaving that dog there by himself. >> Well, there's better ways to do all that. All right. Right. Get a picture. How about He was keeping the dog in a [ __ ] kennel for days, not being fed, cuz he's a [ __ ] drug addict. What? No, but you guys won't do nothing about that, right? You won't do nothing about He was a [ __ ] drug addict. Oh, god. So, I went and got the [ __ ] dog to save I'll be right [laughter] back. Your ride along is going to be here in a minute. You guys have his phone, or what? Yeah, they locked it, yeah. I do. I'll grab it. Thank you. I was just trying to get the dog away from him. Oh, it's her. Heather Cutlip was arrested and charged [music] with burglary and resisting arrest following the incident on Manhattan Avenue. Authorities confirmed the home had been heavily damaged with multiple items destroyed [music] and a French bulldog reported stolen during the break-in. The dog was later recovered from Cutlip's vehicle along with a large knife observed in the front passenger seat. During the stop, officers documented multiple attempts to evade law enforcement as well as physical resistance during the arrest. Cutlip sustained minor injuries during the incident and was transported to a nearby hospital before being booked. All evidence, including officer observations and recovered property, was submitted as part of the case, which will proceed through the appropriate legal process.
