We got these two police brutality cases. The jury awarded one victim $10 million and the other victim literally $1. Can you guess which is which? You see these two cops? They cross the street and something crazy happens. A crowd already starts forming and recording, but it's not clear what's exactly happening. H what the [ __ ] is going on? Let's see it from a different angle. Oh my god. Oh my god. Okay. Why did these two cops cross the street and attack a man on a wheelchair? Let's rewind a few minutes back. Okay. Now we can see the man on the wheelchair. His name is Benny War. He's a onelegg MPT. Oh, and by the way, he wears a prosthetic leg. He was right here for approximately 9 minutes with two friends. That's when two Rochester police officers showed up on the opposite side. Their purpose to enforce City of Rochester's policy which is known as clearing the block where police officers go around telling people on sidewalks of high crime areas to move on. When the two officers approached Benny, they demanded that he leave. Benny told the officers that he was waiting for the bus. One of the officers replied back, "Fucking move." Benny again responded that he was waiting for the bus. At this point, Officer Fingo mazed Benny's face. Officer Liberator did then suddenly and violently pushed Benny's motorized wheelchair over, causing Benny to fall and slam on the sidewalk on his left side. I'm about to bounce. Oh my god. Oh my god. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Yo, real talk. And they made him. He was at the bus stop. He kicking him. Oh, you can't even call the police on the police scrap. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Did you catch that? Let's play it again from a different angle. The officer looks to his left and then his right and what falls is a vicious elbow strike to the individual who's completely innocent at this point and the other officer starts using knee strikes. Okay, some of the things that happens next is caught on camera while some is not. Let's cover the parts that are not caught on camera. After Benny War was thrown to the ground, his prosthetic leg got yeated off. The police officers jumped on Benny and began striking, kneing, or kicking him in the stomach, chest, back, or the head. You know, the only part they did not hit him, uh, the one where the leg is missing. After using the legless man as a punching bag, they left him on the sidewalk for 25 minutes before an ambulance arrived and transported him to the hospital for medical treatment. Mr. Benoir got a ticket for disorderly conduct because he was accused of directing obscene language towards officers and also for resisting arrest. Both charges were eventually dismissed in court. Benny War filed a lawsuit and made claims for false arrest, excessive force, assault, battery, and loss of consortium. During the trial, there was medical proof presented to the jury that Benny War suffered nondisplaced fractures of the left, seventh, eighth, and ninth rips, a traumatic brain injury causing word finding problems, cognitive changes, persistent headaches, memory loss, PTSD, and much, much more. The jury concluded that officer Anthony Liberator, which is the bold officer, violated the fourth amendment by using excessive and unreasonable force. There was three forms of damages the jury considered. Compensatory damages, punitive damages, and nominal damages. For compensatory damages, the jury refused to award any damages. For punitive damages, the jury imposed a whopping 0 in damages. And for nominal damages, the jury imposed, drum roll please, $1. After the jury trial, the local activists came out crashing out. Let's watch. Today, the United Christian Leadership Ministry held a news conference in response to the verdict of a case between many war in the Rochester Police Department. This verdict is unjust, inconsistent, inadequate, and insufferable. The jury's verdict was utterly egregious against the weight of the evidence provided by Mr. War's attorney. The jury re failed to do what was right. They failed miserably in delivering a just verdict. War was awarded just $1 in damages by a federal jury. That was a $1 police brutality case. I know it sounds crazy to say it, but now let's watch what a $10 million case looks like. Not trying to play no [ __ ] I Yo, what are you doing, man? I'm just looking for my way back to the trip. Yeah, you trying you trying to get uh directions to Easter. I told you where I was at about two minutes ago. That was you? Yeah. Well, who the [ __ ] was it? I'm sorry. Yeah, I know you're the cops. I told you I was there, right? Yeah. So, why you in here asking the same thing? Let me give you some context for what happened before the camera came on. This is 20-year-old Luther Gonzalez Hall. He walked up to this Dearborn police officer Marvin Sanders and asked for directions. Afterwards, Gonzalez was still confused, so he decides to go into the store to ask for directions again. I asked him for directions and he was just being rude already and cursing at me and stuff like that. So I just wanted to get away from him. I feel like he was having a bad day. So that's why I went to the White Castles and tried to ask them. He told me to like stay leave. So I couldn't really know what to do cuz he was being real rude. He was putting on his gloves and uh I got pretty scared. So I tried to leave the situation and it just went downhill from there. Officer Marvin Sanders shows up to bully him. Let's watch. Yo, what are you doing? I'm just looking for my way back to the trip. Wait, you trying you trying to get uh directions to middle? I told you where I was at about 2 minutes ago. That was you? Yeah. I told you where to go. All right. Thank you. Did that Did that Is that accurate or No. Yeah. So, why you in here? I was just making sure. Making sure I told you the right thing. I just I'm not for sure where I'm going. I told you where to go, right? Yeah. So, why are you in here? All right. Sorry. No, no, no. Why you in here? I told you I wasn't for sure on the way I'm going. All right. You said go on goalie, right? All right. Thank you. Excuse me. No, I didn't. Hold tight. All right. Thank you. Come here, guy. Come here. Yo. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What are you doing? Right. You don't need to touch me like that. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What the [ __ ] I'm the [ __ ] The officer chases down Gonzalez and assaults him, handcuffs him, arrests him for resisting and opposing a police officer. Prosecutors later said Gonzalez slirt speech from drinking was an additional reason for his arrest, but that was not even included in the original police report. Ultimately, all of the charges were dismissed. 2 years after his arrest, internal affairs investigated this incident and gave officer Marvin Sanders one day suspension without pay. Nice. Luther Gonzalez Hall filed a lawsuit for constitutional violations, including false arrest, false imprisonment, battery, emotional distress, and probably more. The arrest resulted in severe injuries, including six fractures in his foot, multiple surgeries and fusions, and a limp with permanent damages. Nearly 5 years after the initial incident, a jury concluded that Luther Gonzalez Hall's constitutional rights had been violated and awarded him a $9.3 million in damages. is
