The shooter is still inside of the church at this time. He's still inside shooting people. >> Bust [music] it out, man. Bust it. >> Hold on, man. He's down behind the church. >> Hey guys, welcome back to the channel where two cops break down your favorite body cam videos. This video is from Midwest Safety. It's titled Police Respond to Mass Shooting at a Church. This is not a call that you want to go to, but let's watch it. >> nightmare came true. >> On September 28th, 2025, dispatch in Grand Blanc Township, southeast of Flint, Michigan, received a panicked 911 call from a man in a church. >> The shooter is still inside of the church at this time. He's still inside shooting people. >> Yeah, you know your heart is pounding. I can't get there fast enough. And you're hearing the shots being fired inside of the church. >> Police out of the building. >> Active shooter out of the building. >> I got your back back here, man. >> Get out of the church. Get out of the church. >> Shoot him. >> Shoot him now. >> GET BACK. GET BACK. >> DROP IT. >> DROP IT. >> DROP IT. >> DROP IT. DROP IT. >> DROP THE GUN NOW. >> DROP IT NOW. >> DROP IT. >> PUT YOUR HANDS UP. GET UP. >> DROP IT. >> NO. DROP THE GUN. >> YOU GOOD? GOT CEO, you good? >> No, I'm good. >> You have duty police? >> No. I'm good. I'm good. >> Okay. See See See PL? >> Yes, sir. >> Let's get him in custody, guys, and then get get inside. >> All right, that was a lot right right at the very beginning of this this whole video. So, one, the officer did a fantastic job. He did exactly what you're trained to do, and that's if you're responding as a police officer to an active shooter call, you move as quickly as you can to the sound of the stimulus, which when he showed up, he actively heard the gunshots. You could hear it. He ran directly to the threat. The only thing that's sketch about doing that is you've got these other people that are on scene. The guy in the suit was armed with a gun. He did a great job recognizing that that was not the threat, and he advanced to who the shooter actually was. So, as a civilian, if you're going to carry a gun like this guy did, which hats off to him, um that's something you got to be concerned about. You have no identifying information on yourself to say you're law enforcement, or that you have a CCW, or anything. You're taking that risk on your own for when the cops do show up. So, great job so far. Let's keep watching. >> 1624, looks like there's a fire inside as well. 1624, the active shooter's behind the church up by the lake. Uh start fire that's going on. >> Yeah. >> Start fire there. >> I am a DM resident. I got them guys that's trying to move in there. The side's on fire. The side's on fire. >> Now they're going into the rescue. >> Give me a 10-11. Is he down or is he down? They got him down? >> I don't know. >> Okay, get back up there. Go. Go. Go. Go. Gun. Gun. Gun. Gun. >> What's that? >> Gun right here. >> All right, before they start going in, what I like is that there's people that are working here that identified themselves, and they're trying to provide direction. The thing I don't really like, and I would recommend, is having those officers utilize those people. You know they're good people. They're there trying to help you. Utilize them and put them to work and tell them, "Hey, watch this gun. No one touches it. Identify it. Leave it there." That way it's secure and these people are actually doing something cuz they clearly want to help. Assign them something small even if it's to overlook the gun. Let's see what happens when they get inside. Okay, so they're trying to find the suspect and they're identifying [laughter] them inside. Matter of they're just trying to figure out if there's more than one. Cuz they shot him. Now you have a fire so that's like a whole other problem. It's getting Yeah. It's so much smoke you can't breathe. >> What do we got here? >> Three. >> Okay. Are any of them unresponsive? >> This one. >> Okay. >> There's one in the truck. >> Okay. >> So you still might have victims inside who just aren't aren't mobile cuz maybe they've been shot and they need to get out because of the fire. >> There's a guy that's moving right there. >> I have a way to >> Yeah, break that window. Ventilate that or I don't know. That might make the fire worse. Smoke fire. >> You think it would make it worse? >> Adding oxygen to it. >> Yeah. >> How'd the fire start? >> Some cowboy broke the window. >> Hello. >> [music] >> It's only been 5 minutes since the suspect's been shot. >> There's on the sides and on the front. >> Yeah. >> 97 95 Give me it. >> Something to point out for the general public, for those of you watching who don't know, fire typically isn't going to respond to what they call the hot zone, which would be the active zone where this is occurring, because the police haven't rendered that scene safe yet. They don't know if there's another shooter in there. Um fire typically isn't going to show up to this. So, I'm I would be curious if they do. Um but that their protocol is not not to arrive unless police have totally secured the scene. So, we'll see. Every time I pause the video and say something >> And they they do it. They do it. >> We can't get in, man. Can't breathe, can't see. Stay back, sir. >> This is so frustrating. >> Stay back, please. Bust it out. Yeah, bust it. >> I mean, if someone wants to help, like, let them help because you got your gun, it's hard for you to grab people. Like, the guys are to help out, let them help. Definitely let them help. And they may know something. How many people are inside? How many shooters there are? >> Okay. We got him. He's hit. >> Put your head PUT YOUR HEAD >> YOU CAN GET OUT THE WINDOW. YOU'RE GETTING OUT THAT WINDOW. YOU GOT THIS. YOU can do it. Come on. Look how he's encouraging her to do it. Yeah, there you go. You got it. Come on. Nope. Are you hit AT ALL? >> NO. >> OKAY. KEEP COMING. Keep coming. You're almost out. You're almost out. You're got it. Good job. >> it. You got it. You got it. You got it. >> I can't do it. >> You got it. You got it. YOU GOT IT. TURN OUT. TURN. TURN. TURN. THERE YOU GO. YOU GOT IT. >> IT. GOOD JOB. >> GOOD JOB, MAN. OKAY, GO. Are you hit at all? Anybody else in the in that room? >> No. >> You got to run. COME ON. CLEAR. THERE'S NOBODY ELSE IN HERE? RUN. GO. RUN. >> WHAT? >> THAT WAY. Right over there. They got you over there. >> Just Different things [snorts] I think about what they could do by having these other people in this building help those ones that do want to help is tell them, "Hey, we're going to send people to you. You stand on that corner. You wave them to come to us." And then send them a different direction because all they're doing at this point is telling people to run. What you want them to get out and away, but there's no real place for them to go. So, you send them someplace and they can start directing them. I would be utilizing all these people. >> Hey, you busted [ __ ] See anything? >> No. >> ANYBODY IN THERE? ANYBODY IN THERE? [screaming] COME OUT. WE GOT ABOUT SIX PEOPLE out the front window. Keep checking windows. >> It's frustrating cuz you don't know where other people are. >> Come on, sweetie. Just go back in the grass, okay? >> Need fire in this area. >> Go back in the grass by the pavilion, okay? Yep. Go back. There's an officer right there. Go back there. >> Just don't think they're going to injure him. >> Police! >> Huh? >> Yeah, come on. Here we go. Here. Come on. Good job. Good job. Good job. Good job. You're good. You're good. You're good. You're good. You're good. COME ON. >> [laughter] >> OKAY, THANK YOU. GO. THANK YOU. FIND SAFETY somewhere over there. Yeah, use your body or rifle barrel, I mean. >> Empty. >> Left door is locked. >> ANYBODY IN THERE? >> IN 9 MINUTES YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE family start showing up. We're working that way right now. >> Hey guys, I just want to mention if you're interested in long-form podcast-style content where we interview people who have responded to scenes like this, head over to our other YouTube channel Shots Fired Podcast, get subscribed over there, and hear some wild stories and for some more longer-form content. >> Line up on the canal, we'll start rolling up. Fire's going to Fire's going to try to get into the parking lot and work from there. I guess they want to get an ambulance lined up on the canal, we'll start rolling up. Um Fire's going to try to get into the parking lot and work from there. >> We're going to have to start making like a triage. >> William, William. >> So, fire's going to try to >> You guys, come out IF YOU'RE IN THERE. >> TALKING ABOUT THAT TRIAGE PORTION, WHEN they start getting people to come out, that's that's generally why they group people together, so you have all the people in in one area, then there's some accountability of where people are, who is there, do you know this person, do you know that person, are we missing somebody? Then you can start figuring out who is missing, if anybody else else is inside, and then when people start showing up for their family family members, they know where they could go to actually make sure that those people are okay. It's trying to be organized in a situation that is not organized and it is is clearly chaos right now, dealing with a potential suspect still, and the place is on fire. >> Dispatch, we're getting reports there's still children inside. >> There's There's a conservation of the >> Parents are outside in the parking lot. >> He's good though, he's solid, he's >> Ah, that sucks. So, now they're getting info there's more kids inside. >> This right now. >> Well, think about It's tough to not see that the fire department's not there, like, god, that's aggravating. >> Dispatch, we're getting reports there's still children inside. Parents are outside in the parking lot. >> Come to the window if you if you hear ME, YOU GUYS. >> WILLIAM, WILLIAM. >> NO, you can't, man, you can't see anything, you'll die. >> NICE, TELL THE PARENTS THAT WHEN THEIR [ __ ] kids are inside. >> COME TO THE WINDOW, GUYS. CRAWL ON THE FLOOR IF YOU CAN. >> WILLIAM, WILLIAM. >> I'M GOING IN, DUDE. I'm a parent, I'm going in for my kids. >> Absolutely. figure it out. >> Absolutely. >> They're not going to let you in, man. You can't. You won't make it back out. >> That's heartbreaking for a parent to be told no. I'm going anyways. >> Yeah. >> There's a bunch of kids that came out the front. And they went over to >> Fire department needs to get there. Where are they? I don't think they're coming in for a hot zone at this point. I don't I don't know what FEMA would say if I say the shooter's down, we need you we need you up here right now. And they should they should be going anyways. >> Yeah. >> You also need medics trapped inside. >> Medics start staging. Ma'am, ma'am, don't See, that's that's one of the reasons you get everybody in one area. We have a lot of citizens there that are willing to help. Put them to work. >> They're in there right now looking, all right? Where were they last? >> In the chapel, where he >> Come back to Okay. >> Great. >> Hey, ma'am, I know right now I need you to go back. I need you to stay back by the fence, please. Stay back by the fence, please. Somebody take her Somebody take her back by the fence. >> Like she's not hurting anybody by standing there. Her effing kids are in there. Like come on. You got to have a little bit of compassion and common sense. And his time is getting diverted to her. >> Anybody? Thanks. Take her and get her back. Her kids were in the chapel. They're not out. Take her back by the fence. >> See that? >> Yeah. >> So it looks like they can just confirm that the suspect is dead. So if that's the case at this point, it's a rescue mission to get the people out. I would be willing to allow anybody to help at this point. >> I would let [clears throat] I don't care if you're civilian or not. This is a rescue mission of multiple people, especially children. >> Dude, if someone wants to help, let them help. They're not hindering anything. >> Yeah, if this was just a normal fire at a church, people would be helping. But because there was an active shooter, they're preventing from people. This the shooter there's no longer a threat at this point. >> It's >> It's a rescue mission. >> of pissing me off fire's not there yet. Like I'm it's like aggravate it's like pissing me off. So I'm going to see how much longer it takes them to get here. >> Just this one here. There we go. >> It's been 12 minutes. >> Yeah, that's fine. I got to see. >> I don't get why fire's not there. It's been 17 minutes since I got the call. >> Where are the victims at? >> I I the only one I knew of back on this side was a young girl. I saw him carry her out. Yeah, everyone's up front I think. >> Guys, if you can hear MY VOICE, COME OUT HERE. >> HOLD ON. YOU GOT TO GET TO THE INTERIOR DOOR. >> RELAY INFORMATION to your cab whenever you have it. >> Prop that open, please. >> Hold on. >> I'm popping it. >> Do the walkie-talkie next to you. >> Guys, if you CAN HEAR OUR VOICE, COME OUT. >> SOMEBODY HOLD this door open FOR ME. >> OKAY. >> MAKE IT QUICKER. >> I'M WITH YOU. >> ANYBODY IN THERE? WE'RE IN CROSSFIRE. WE NEED TO GO THERE. THERE'S PEOPLE EVERYWHERE. WE NEED FIRE WATCH. EVERYBODY IN HERE. CAN YOU HEAR ME? HOW BAD'S THE INSIDE? They're still not firing. What the hell? Oh, [ __ ] Where's the fire department? I wonder if it's a rural area. Dude, there has to be a fire department somewhere within the vicinity. Hell, no. The smoke is too thick. Now they're coordinating where the victims are going. I'm not blaming the cops on this. There's nothing they can do. Like, they can't go inside. It's too much too much smoke. They can't breathe. But No, and if you think of the actual active shooter, when you're trained as a as a potential victim or a citizen, not law enforcement. So, for you watching the FBI trains the run, hide, and fight. So, you're inside and you have to kind of think that these people inside are hearing gunshots, they're hearing screams. If they can't run, they're going to have to hide. And you're trained to hide until it's safe, and that's generally when law enforcement comes. So, it is very possible there's people hidden in the closets like they just said, and they don't know the place is on fire, and they're not coming out because they haven't been contacted by law enforcement. This is like one of those weird situations where it's a no-win situation. >> This sucks, yeah. >> Get out! >> I mean, they're trying. >> No, I Yeah, I did. They can't. >> You just physically can't. >> Yeah. What are they supposed to do? >> Come to the hallway. Come to my line. >> That's really creative. Come to the light. I mean, it's smoky. You don't know which direction to go. >> I just I can't I I'm having a hard time wrapping my head with there's no fire department just in all the areas. >> It's only been 15 minutes, and they didn't deem it safe. >> We need to find a point of entry. >> I like that. Put a point somebody at every entry point. >> Yeah, I went in. I got about halfway and got a bunch of people out, but >> Police, come out! Come [screaming] towards the line! >> We're checking the building. >> Fire. >> We need a crew to the southeast corner. 41. It's going to be going dark in there and we're going in. >> Yeah, we need a crew to the southeast corner. >> All right, check the southeast corner. >> Hello! >> Can you HEAR US IN THERE? THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE. CAN YOU HEAR us in there? FBI. >> CAN ANYBODY HEAR ME? >> NO. THEY SHOULD BE coming out. We're coming out there. We're going to come to the north side of the church. We're going to try and park there. >> You guys good with radios? >> We've been calling this for a minute. >> It sucks cuz they're trying their damnest to get in there. Like they're trying to come up with anything they can. >> Oh, yeah. They keep doing the same point of entry. They're yelling. >> Can you hear ME IN THERE? THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE. YOU'RE SAFE TO COME OUT. >> THEY'RE ALL HIDING IN A >> CLOSET RIGHT NOW. >> YEAH, see they're all hiding. That's the part of the FBI's model is run, hide, fight. They're hiding probably interior and they can't hear anything. Probably don't even know it's on fire. How scary is it for those people inside right now? >> We got to carry them out of the church. >> We got to ram our foot JUST MY FOOT. PLEASE FIRE IT. PLEASE. WE GOT THEM BARRICADED. >> HUH? >> Come back out. >> That's part of the model is the run, hide, fight. Is if you have to hide, then you barricade the door to prevent the active shooter from getting into that place. So now they're encountering situations where it is barricaded and they can't actually get through. And who knows how far those people went in. They may be in one room, barricade that door, and then they're in a closet within that room. And they might not even be able to hear at this point. So, I mean those the victims inside right now are in a total terrible spot doing what they believe is the right thing to do, and these cops are doing everything they can to get in, but there is no fire yet. They've got to get here. >> Still no fire department? >> No. >> Why is the fire department having a hard time getting in? That's priority right now. Get them in there. You got a lot of cops out there. I mean, they're at every single window trying to get acknowledgement. Yeah. Who knows how big that thing is? They're finally firing, dude. They better get their asses moving, dude. No time to get out of their engine. They just walk around. No sense of urgency. >> It's and it goes down so you don't have to worry about that. >> All righty. This is going to be triage right over here so He's in the area so he's a resident so he's going to help out. Here. We're just going to We're just going to lay back the open and we're just going to work with what we got, guys. >> POLICE! DOORS OPEN! >> HELLO. HOLD ON. >> ALL RIGHT, I'VE GOT SO YOU WANT TO GO >> YOU CAN SEE these officers are all cut too from the >> Oh, yeah. >> POLICE! OPEN! THERE'S POLICE IN THERE. OPEN! >> I'VE GOT THE MASTER KEY. DON'T GO TOWARDS THE LIGHT. >> THAT'S GOOD. >> I'LL GO AHEAD. YEAH, I'm going to try that one over here. What if somebody's in there but they locked the door? >> Police! Come on! Here's the key. >> Here. This is the master key. Yeah. AND THEY YOU GOOD? >> YEAH. They're inside. The fire department's inside right now. It's not working. Yeah. All right, man. Come on! >> I'll back out. >> He's coming? >> I'LL BACK OUT. YEAH, WE GOT ONE. >> ANYONE ELSE? >> YEAH, there's three MORE IN THERE. >> I'M GOING TO BE WE haven't been to confirm it's only one. Need to talk to anybody who was inside the church. Only one shooter. Yeah, shooter was in vehicle after crashing into the building. >> Um anybody can reach out to people, message, call, see if you can figure out where everybody is. >> Yes, start asking who's missing. >> They'll find us. >> Who's missing? We got to know first. Who's missing? >> My dad. >> Anybody missing family? >> My dad is in. >> You got an animal control for that thing? >> Yeah, we're um leash and we'll just maybe tie him off on that on a tree. He's pretty friendly, but yeah. >> No, I got next to kennel actually. >> I haven't tried to I haven't tried to like grab him by the leash or anything or his collar, but he seems pretty good. >> All right, do we need to be writing this down? >> I need a number. How many Just give me a number. >> He's not leaving his side, so Yeah, he's good. >> You got an extra kennel? Yeah. >> Thanks, guys. >> We got one more missing. We got a father still looking for two children. >> How many How many missing so far? What's your count? >> Two kids, one man. >> Two kids, one man. ANYBODY ELSE MISSING THEIR LOVED ONES? SO many nine people? >> I can't even get in there to check. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah, they're the ones that came out the window, man. >> They came out the window? So >> I don't know. >> Who's missing? >> Okay, quiet. [laughter] Guys, guys, I NEED TO KNOW WHO'S MISSING, PLEASE. HOW MANY? >> E25, WE'RE ON >> I just want to point out like one thing I don't think uh citizens or people that are probably watching this video right now fully understand is when you're dealing with something like this like this, it's not just show up, you know, eliminate the threat, and then, you know, everything slows down, and it's all good. Like dealing with these types of calls, especially something like this involving a fire, and missing people, it's just so chaotic, and cops have to really, you know, start thinking outside the box, and figure stuff out, you know, like the you have to do stuff without being told to do things like find work to do. Um I feel like these cops are doing a great job with what they have. Like they're dealing with a huge scene. They're trying to figure out who's missing. Um they're trying to reunite parents with their kids. It's an emotional thing. There's just so much going on, and this is actually a really good look behind the scenes, pulling back the curtains of uh first-hand perspective of being a cop dealing with something like this. You don't get to see this all the time. So, let's keep watching and see how this plays out. Um I'm happy to see a couple of these kids at least survive, but I want to make sure all the rest of them get out. >> We can't see any victims over here. It's covered in smoke. >> So, four? Is that a good count, four? Thanks, Cliff. >> I'm going to go to the >> Okay, I'm going to go right out there. >> I'm putting the fire out. I'm going to go in the front. >> No. >> I would have dropped something there. >> I saw him running inside with the gas. >> So, maybe Hey, Tim. Maybe four, maybe five. >> In the church. >> Just unaccounted for. >> Okay. >> You tell us. >> No, not yet. There's >> 16, 14, and 14. >> I'm here if there's anything you guys need. >> 14, where are you at? >> Anywhere you want me to >> 721 church on >> I'm right together. >> 10-4 uniform 10-14 >> Yeah. >> I think it's really going down. >> You want to close this? >> I'm just going to stay with the family for a minute. Four or five so far? >> She said yep. >> Okay. >> He he just asked about kids. >> Okay. >> We got the other two kids out. They're the only first ones I got out. >> The grandma was dead. >> That was the last one that was only two. >> Yeah. >> Okay, that was the only one. >> Yep, that's the last two. >> All right. >> Does anybody else need medical attention? >> One right here. >> Medical attention for anybody? Major for right now, we'll do minor later. Okay. >> What that officer was trying to do is identify the part of the triage. It's the walking wounded, injured, and then deceased. So, naturally in the situations, if you can walk and you're injured, they want you out and away. And if you can't walk and you're injured, that's the next ones that you help. And then if you come up cross people that are deceased, you unfortunately leave them and you continue on and you try and get those people out. And you saw the medics earlier, generally they will lay out and we may see it later colored tarps and that's where the walking wounded or the severely injured or the deceased are going. And that's what the medics they laid out all their bags. They're really getting ready for all those victims that are going to be coming and showing up because they have to be ready and dialed to get all those people medical care. So, he's trying to figure out who is actually injured and what the severity is because if and depending on the the injury level, they're going to send them to certain places. >> Make sure everybody's out of the woods. >> Yeah, okay. >> [cough and clears throat] >> 30 minutes. >> Thank you, man. >> Yeah. >> All right, Billy. >> Yeah. >> That's all right. >> Thanks, brother. >> All right, we'll stay here and over there, but they're going to be having a hard time getting in and out. >> They are. >> Medical should just be >> Hey, man. >> Okay. >> Uh >> We got to go out there. >> Chief's going to do a 12:45 running out of our office. >> The gang 1:15 likewise coming in the area. >> Hello. Hey, it's >> Okay, Howard. >> All right, it's another phone. Um >> And you have 26 >> So the worst nightmare came true. >> Party search >> It's my car and wife received something else. >> We have a half a problem and a half a dozen more dead people. >> All right, we couldn't go more than 15 ft here. >> What's that? >> We went in there, we couldn't get more than 10 or 15 >> man. I know it. >> LET'S GO. >> HOPEFULLY THEY GOT WHAT THEY NEEDED. >> WE follow the procedure as always. >> Okay, we'll take it around the front wall and advise her now that there's no officers inside the building. They already cleared it. All units on South Campus for roll call. And cancel the shots. 18 4 >> Did you cancel that? >> 15 30 >> Yeah, that's probably something going off inside. >> I heard one of those one of those rounds popping off. Did you hear that? >> Yeah, the extra round one. >> Before it gets any further, I want to mention what the roll call is what he's talking about. When you have a mass incident like this with multiple officers from other agencies, at some point you have to take accountability for who is there and how many officers are left, especially when you have ones going in and out. And what the agencies do is they go from the top and they go through the list of all the officers and they call their identifier and they wait for the officer to to report back. Basically, like what a roll call is in a for like a school and they go through all the agencies and they make sure they can account for each person. Let's see if what happens with the sheriff. He's out there helping, dude. Yeah, that's awesome. Nothing more important at this time. And for the medics right here, they're triaging. The most severely injured are going to be transported first. That's why they have the helicopter for the life flight for the severely injured. We're going to see this. >> Don't have time to be chat right now. You can be chat later. >> Very true. I'm more watching your breathing. >> Huh? >> I said I'm more watching your breathing to make sure. >> Yeah, probably a ton of smoke and probably should all feel it later. It's okay. I know. Don't worry. I already had LIKE FIVE PEOPLE STOP ME AND LIKE CUZ I HAD BLOOD all over me, so. >> Where is his cut? >> He's cut. Both arms. Did you get any gauze or anything for it? Okay, he just said don't worry about it later. >> Who is that? >> Or are you >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's got it right here. I'm going to >> over this small man. >> I know, we're all like >> Yeah. You going in? >> No, I was out here, but like holy crap. >> in right when it got on fire. I don't know if I got it out. >> It was on fire. I don't know if I You're way better. >> I probably assisted >> Okay, I got you. You're just You're a little irritated, not >> No, there's no fire in your throat. >> No. [laughter] >> No fire damage. >> Yeah, I'm just sad for these people in there. I'm not sure how many how many kids potentially >> I don't know. I pulled out four kids, one adult, three adults out of the window up front. I ain't hearing nothing. We got a couple more on the side. Got two more older people. There was three drug and they drug two up in the road. I had GSW one to the chest, one to the leg. They just had another GSW to an arm. The kids that they thought were missing, we got them all. I got them I know the ones already got out. Never in my career. >> Mhm. >> I didn't think that would happen to us. What I said then, it'll never happen. >> Hey, that's an important statement that he just made. He just said never in my career that I ever think that that would happen to us. And that's the thing about being a cop is every cop thinks that you We all think that this would never happen to us or that it would happen in your community or your town. You never know when violence is going to come to your town or your community or in this case, your church. And so, uh being prepared to handle something like this is, I guess, why we do what we do or train, you know, how we do. And so that if or when that time does come, you can perform like these officers did. I seriously think up to this point they have done a fantastic job. And this officer who responded uh first on scene who engaged the suspect did exactly textbook exactly what he was going to do. Now, this is all kind of like this adrenaline is probably kind of slowly coming down and like these guys are just experiencing that huge adrenaline dump and it's all just kind of becoming reality to them right now. So, it's a great, um, opportunity to see firsthand what what it's like to go through something like this. >> This just came to me. This came to >> Yeah. >> For me it did. I highly wrote once I heard that it started transpiring I just said this is exactly what this is. >> Roughly 2 and 1/2 hours after the initial 911 call, Grand Blanc Township firefighters extinguished the inferno. Two bodies were pulled from the rubble while two other victims died on scene from gunshot wounds. Eight survivors were transported to nearby Henry Ford Genesis Hospital. Five for gunshot wounds and three for smoke inhalation. The youngest victim, a 6-year-old child, was treated for a gunshot wound to the arm and released several days later. According to CNN, nurses and emergency [music] personnel who were on strike at the nearby hospital left the picket line when they heard about the shooting to provide medical aid to the survivors. The shooter, a US Marine who served in Fallujah, Iraq, was pronounced [music] dead at the scene. According to a childhood friend interviewed by The Conversation, the shooter was also a long-time methamphetamine user suggesting meth-induced psychosis as a contributing factor. The shooting was Michigan's second church shooting of 2025. Two months later, the church was demolished and the congregation has plans to rebuild on the same site. >> This is one of those situations where you don't want it to happen, but that shows the importance of training and clear communication and actually coordinating an event. And when you arrive on scene, they did everything that is expected of an officer responding to an active shooter. You immediately go to the threat based on the stimulus and you eliminate that threat, which immediately happened. But the wild part is is it took a turn after that suspect lit the place on fire. And that's where everything else, all that different type of training in watching these videos really comes into play because it starts to make you think like you said outside the box where you have to start accounting for people, you have to set up that triage area, you have to set up a rally point to get up to everybody cuz family and people are going to come like they did. And man, [clears throat] this is a very very good body cam to show the insides or the insides of what law enforcement may deal with and you can literally watch those officers as they're standing there watching the fire, their emotions start changing and they start coming down and start realizing like this is real and that adrenaline is starting to go away. This is a horrific incident but those officers did a phenomenal job doing everything they possibly could to get people out. >> Yeah, I thought great response and the only thing that I would add is I don't even know that I would have given that suspect a chance to drop that gun or even given him a command to drop that gun. You know, but the officers did and obviously he didn't comply and they ended up, you know, engaging him anyways but um >> This goes back to the training is if you're in a situation where you're hearing gunshots and it may be an active shooter, that's the whole FBI's model is run, hide, and fight. You've got to get out of there, you've got to save yourself. If you can't get out and you can't run, you've got to hide, you've got to barricade doors, get yourself in a corner, be silent, turn your cell phone off, turn the lights off so that suspect does not know you're there. And if you can't run and you cannot hide, then you absolutely have to fight and that's the last thing you can do. So be creative, look around your environment where you are right now and think if could you run right now, could you actually hide and what could you use to protect yourself? This situation, man. >> Yeah, and hats off to that former military guy who in his suit who ran towards the gunman and had his firearm on him. So horrific video, I'm sad for the victims on this, great response by the first responders and we'll see you guys on the next video. Bye.
