She tells the police she wants her husband dead. Hours later, on the 4th of July, gunfire changes everything. >> I want to kill my husband. I'm like, "I can't believe you. I want to kill him." >> And so, that's when mom and them heard gunfire. >> I went the next day saying that I killed her dad, and I'm like, "What are you talking about?" >> Albuquerque PD officers began unraveling a volatile marriage after a traffic stop confession that may have been more than just talk. Take a look. >> Hello, police department. >> How's it going? >> Good. How are you? >> Good. Good. Can you put your hands on the steering wheel for me? Just so I can see them. Thank you. Albuquerque police, okay? Hey, the reason why I stopped you is cuz your plates come back to a Dodge. >> I know. I'm sorry. >> Any reason for that? >> cuz I'm going through a divorce, and my husband's a weirdo. >> Hey, okay. >> So, he took my car. >> Hey, Echo, were you able to find anything? >> You know what? My I'm telling you, I'm going through a really ugly divorce, so my baby daddy is not answering. >> I was just about to call my daughter from this phone. >> Okay. >> Like, I'm so >> You do have insurance on it? >> Um so, honestly, I just bought it like 3 weeks ago. Um my son had a felony warrant, went to jail, they seized my car, I just got it back. And I just been working ever since then. >> Okay. We'll talk with you soon. Okay. Does your son Does your son typically drive this car? >> Um no. He was in the car He was in my car the day that they tried to pull him over. >> Pull you over? >> Pull him over. >> Okay. And he fled? >> Um I guess. That's what I'm saying, yeah. >> That's what I wanted to ask you. >> Yeah. >> Is because this license plate comes back to a vehicle that fled from us. >> I will. He My son's in county right now. So, this just happened like not that long ago. >> Okay. >> But I'm trying to get ahold of my daughter to see if she's there. >> Okay. >> I thought I had a picture. >> Okay, time out. Let's pause right here cuz I'm a I'm already suspicious as it is, right? You got a vehicle with different license plates. That's kind like a stolen vehicle. Okay, if you're going to have license plates for another make and model and it doesn't belong to that car, I'm going to tell you right now, I'm doing some more digging. Uh the fact that you don't have your driver's license, the fact that you don't have uh insurance, uh you're telling me this story about your son that uh he's in counter now, he's incarcerated. Okay, that's all great and all, but I need for you to give me your license, your registration, and your current uh in proof of insurance. You can't do that and you're mentioning, you know, you're going through a ugly divorce. These are all things that uh in the end doesn't really matter at a traffic stop while we're having this conversation, right? But this is what I need. My thinking is, you know what? It's going to raise definitely the suspicion. Uh it should for the officers, for APD, and it should for anybody else. Let's see what happens. >> Picture of your >> So, you also have a misdemeanor warrant for your arrest. What's it for? >> Um domestic violence that I never went in on. >> So, it's a $100 bond. >> Okay. >> Do you know where the bonding window is? >> I do. Downtown. >> Thomas and Fourth. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So, I'm going to I'm going to cut you a break or whatever, but here's the deal is you need to take these plates off of this vehicle. >> Okay. >> Okay. Cuz I'm going to add on the comments >> And my husband's going to do it right now. >> Do it right now? >> Yeah. I'll have him take it off now. >> I'll go with you. I'll go with you. I'll trust you. She's going to take the plates off. >> Okay. >> I'll take I'll go get my car and I'll follow her home and I'll take the plates off. >> Okay, we'll get it Take it off before she goes home. >> I don't have my warrant. Oh. >> Officer G's APD. So, the reason I pulled you over is a few reasons. Plates come back to a Dodge. >> Yes, I know. I talked to an officer yesterday. I know I have a Yeah. >> It's also suspended. It's no longer active. Your right tail light is not working, so this car is just a mess. Your left one's working and it's illuminating in white, it should be red. You got a few issues. So, I'm going to set you up for a court date so you can show me that you fixed all this stuff rather than paying fines for it. Okay. What's up? Warrants, I don't care. What's your phone? So, you got domestic stuff? Not worried about that. I appreciate that. Not worried about the domestic stuff, I really don't care about that. We focus on traffic stuff. You might have been, but hey, I'm just a traffic guy, you know? You have any uh any >> Okay, look, I I understand it sounds like it's, you know, there's a sense of humor behind those statements. Yeah, maybe uh a question you could ask, "Okay, well, well, hold on a second. What do you mean you want to kill him? Are you being serious or are we just joking around?" Cuz I really don't care about those warrants, you know? However, you have a suspended license. That's like an automatic uh citation, right? In some states, it's a misdemeanor, it depends. And you have to impound the vehicle, right? That's like an automatic impoundment, right? Of the vehicle. You got to tow it. At least that's one of the options, right? >> What sort of documents on the vehicle itself? You got something in the glove box with them in? No? Baby daddy is the domestic issue? Was that the domestic issue with that baby daddy that you were going to call? Listen. I'll figure it out. It's about domestic or Your car is a mess. >> I'm a mess. >> [laughter] >> So the warrant is 418 bucks. 418 bucks. >> I want to kill him. I hate him. I want to kill him. >> Don't do that. I know you want to but What happened? >> We don't So my dad called me and said that my mom had shut the house up. So we came over there to go see what happened and then we saw my dad he was gone so we followed him to see what happened. And then we see this car drive and he's on the floor. >> Whose car do you guys know whose car this is? >> It's his car. Oh it's his car? Okay. What kind of car does your mom drive? >> A Hyundai. >> Hyundai? Do you know what color? >> Black. >> Black? >> She drives a black Hyundai. >> What's that? >> She has shut up the house before. >> It was 10 minutes ago. Does she live here with him or does she live somewhere else? >> She lives with my dad but she hasn't showed up. >> She hasn't been around in like a month or two. She's cheating on her husband. That's why. All right let's have you guys come talk to me. I'm going to start pushing everybody back across the street and we'll have somebody come talk to you guys. Okay? >> Yeah, send out a crisis team to deal with the family. This is just heartbreaking, to say the least, right? And I always say this in other videos, if you're new to the channel, is that the loss of life, any life, is a tragedy in and of itself, okay? Let's just get that out of the way. I'm not here to criticize or to hold officers accountable for their actions or what they do or what they don't do in terms of police functions. And yes, it's easy for me to say, "Well, you know, you had a traffic stop twice, where she did mention to you that she wanted to kill him." We can't hold those particular statements and that scenario, right, accountable to the officers for not providing any type of intervention. You don't know, I mean, think about how many traffic stops police officers do where you kind of think to yourself, "Well, are you just kind of joking around or are you serious?" Do you do a threat assessment or you don't? Do you follow up with detectives who say, "You know what, I found this traffic stop to be just a little weary, you know, it just it raises the hair on in the back of my neck, and maybe we should do a follow-up investigation." For what? The fact that she said, "Hey, I want to kill my husband a couple of times." That could be the case. I don't know. It's easy to criticize, but just know that we can't really hold the traffic officers, the cops who conducted those traffic stops, accountable for their actions, so. >> He said if you want to check the target 20. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> That's what I was going to say. >> want to go direct there and check out if we got a scene over there or whatever. >> Okay. >> Cuz I guess he she shot at him or something and he fled here, like on foot or something or in a car. >> And then more so that I'm not clear >> So this our scene? >> So they were saying their kids were like watching from the window the fireworks this way, and they heard like a 39. They're like, "Oh my god, Mom, like there's an argument." And so that's when Mom and them heard gunfire. And so they like went out and looked and they saw this guy and some car peel off. They saw this car with the underglows here. >> The offender's house? The wife, right? >> Uh no, the our target 20 is not involved, is what they're telling us. I mean, they >> Cuz someone said that the wife shot the always 15. >> So uh where does this guy live? >> At 10th >> There was a call earlier where they >> we didn't go to that one. >> Well, she's She's probably over there. >> Okay. >> Cuz there was a call earlier where pointing a gun at her. >> that. >> The kids are little spot kids and they took like 20 guns out of his house and >> I know that was Jacob and them were on that call earlier. >> Yeah, who is >> Who is she? >> The daughter. >> Okay. And we're thinking mother is the suspect? >> Right, cuz she's She got a call >> Hey, so it's known to go into the Andrews house? >> I know. >> That's where So, there was a call earlier where they >> Yeah, I saw. >> But they're always 15. And she's told me I've talked to her. She said, "I'm going to deal with him." So. >> I know. She The daughter The daughter called got a call saying that mom was going to go 516 and shoot him because I guess he brought some other lady to the house. >> Well, you know Anthony, you know you've been out with these people all the time, though. >> Muñoz and Aguilar? >> There was a call They've They've been out to that house >> before. Oh, yeah, I remember I do remember that coming out earlier. >> Bro, he threw her out of a car in the valley last minute at 4th Lomas and like 14th and I TOT'd him home, bro. He was there too. >> Okay. >> So. >> Okay, I'm going to stop right here because it kind of gives a little bit more credibility to what I was saying earlier about accountability of this intervention by police officers. Look, that's not helping out at all. The fact that you have a lot of contact and encounters with the mom, right? Eric, I think that's her name. Yes, maybe we should red flag this location, right? Maybe tell 911 dispatch, "Look, if you're getting a lot of calls from this particular address, this location, red flag it so we can get people there immediately because there's a sense, right?" You know, my training and experience kind of makes me believe that something's about to happen. And then alert the detectives. They can do follow-ups. Maybe you can do a threat assessment. That could be the case. And again, the fact that we actually know the players involved in this incident, right? The suspect, the victim, and the family. And I think he said they're 15, meaning there's probably a lot of activity that happens in that location, in that household. Yes, maybe there is prevention that could have occurred. >> All right. And we don't know what she says. She's That's her house. That's their house. I bet she's >> What kind of car does she >> Sir, our main suspect is going to be the >> 30039 Andrews >> just based off the earlier call. >> Based off the earlier call, so you're saying it >> just off the earlier call. >> Our other possible witness is her daughter. >> Okay. >> Saying he got a call saying that mom was going to shoot him. >> Mom was going to shoot him. Okay, this is that call from earlier that Sam 110 went to that Stylo was on, right? >> Right. >> And he made they made two fires over there? >> No. >> Okay. Cuz that was the call where he got home and his mistress said she was going to shoot him. >> Mhm. And what happened >> happened is he was saying there's a call tonight where he was pointing a gun at her. >> 56 >> Mhm. No, that she wanted to shoot him because he brought he brought another lady to the house. >> So, oh, okay. So, it could have escalated further. Okay. >> And they weren't 56 and 31. 34 and 56. And then Um >> The dream. >> Daughter got a call from dad saying that mom wanted to shoot him. >> And now he is >> Going out there? >> Yeah, that's my grand daughter, my best best friend. >> Okay, well, you can't go, man. >> Okay, let me stop it right here, and it's worth mentioning that the narration of this video does say that she did call 911 27 times. Think about that, okay? You got that evidence. She's She was stopped twice and told you that she wanted to kill him, right? And you got all these witnesses. You got these chronic complaints from this location, and officers have been to this location dealing with these domestic incidents. So, yeah, a threat assessment or some type of intervention or prevention Uh, it have been done, right? But then again, that's for me to say, but I'm just kind of giving you ideas as we move forward, lessons learned, you know, educate ourselves, and ensure that, you know what? Perhaps, maybe we can do a little better. >> Daughter just called me right now. I don't know who the guy is. >> Yeah, he's my He's my best friend. Like, he's my best friend. We were just together like a little while ago. His daughter just called me now and told me that his mom shot him. That he shot him. So, I mean, her name is Erica. Do you guys know if you guys got her or >> No. >> We're looking for >> Yeah, it's a shame. So, what what's going on? What happened tonight? What did you guys see? >> Nothing. Well, we just we took his daughter to pass by the house over there. >> Do you Do you know what the address is over there or what house it is? >> no idea. >> What street it's off of? >> It's literally where the cops at. That way left towards the neighborhood. And, um, I took him past by there and he flew around the corner and she's like, "Dad, where are you going?" And then he didn't say nothing. >> Okay. >> kept going. So, we're like And then afterwards, when I came out of the vehicle, I was like, "Where did he go?" And then we came down this way and we seen his car right there. She was all, "There's my dad." And all of a sudden, we seen him out of the car and she's like, "No, no." And then that's when I pulled over and yeah. >> We actually went to go check on him and then he was down. >> he's no longer here. The daughter >> an officer has her. >> Okay, yeah, we got to talk to her. She's essential. So, she's like, "I have a bad feeling about my dad and need to go check on him." So, they were like, "Okay, like let's They were watching the fireworks somewhere." They're like, "Okay, let's go check on dad before we go back home to our apartments over here." They went, they drove up Anderson Hill, and they saw a dad in this red Cavalier blaze down the street. They're like, "That's weird." Then I, you know, they didn't say anybody following him or anything like that. They said about maybe a minute, two minutes later when they were finally getting turned on to come back out onto 98, they saw him laying on the ground and that that's when they pulled up. Do you Are you aware of him having any sort of issues with anybody or having any sort of ongoing problems? >> You know, him and his wife have been fighting. >> Yeah. >> They weren't doing too good. They're >> Was she ever Was she ever here tonight? >> All I know is that they've been fighting and fighting. Um, my brother called me a while ago and told me that he had rolled up to his pad and that Erica was, I guess, following him to his house. >> Okay. >> And he went outside and that she put the gun to his chest. >> Earlier tonight? >> Yeah, earlier tonight. >> Okay. >> And that she put the gun to his chest, but he's like, "I know that [ __ ] isn't going to do anything." And he said that when she left, she shot the house. So, there should be casings or bullet holes. She said She said that she shot the roof. The next thing I know, I'm pulling up to my house and the race car is meeting screaming and telling me that her mom shot her dad. >> Person in this black bug um, got a call from her mother. And the mom said, "Hey, I just sprayed the house." >> Okay. >> So, she went to go check on her dad. >> Yeah. >> They They When they they went 56 and saw her dad leave in that red vehicle, mom follow her and then either at this intersection or the next intersection, mom pulled up next to our victim and shot him. >> I've said this in the past on my other channel and I'll say it here, if you're new to the channel, and I've said this before where I always say that uh traffic stops are the most inherently dangerous situations a cop can ever face because you're walking up to the unknown. However, next to that is domestic violence, domestic incidents because you know what you're walking into, but emotions flying so high that, you know what you're It's unpredictable what the husband or the wife, suspect or victim, victim or suspect are going to do, right? So, you got to keep that in mind as well. Uh, what's interesting now is in terms of process and procedure, let's go ahead and lock that house down and uh get a get a warrant. Let's go get a warrant and look for the case scenes, look for additional evidence uh so we can build our case when we do uh get a chance to make contact with Erica. >> And she possibly is with another male who is possibly a security guard that goes by the alias of Senna at that 20. >> Paula, the the person the slug bug um got a call from her mother >> And the neighbor said, "Hey, I just sprayed the house." >> Okay. >> So, she went to go check on her dad. And they were they when they were they went 56 and saw her dad leaving that red vehicle and said, "Mom, follow her." And then either at this intersection or the next intersection, mom pulled up next to our victim and shot him. >> Did you see your mother shoot your dad? >> No, I saw the car parked. >> Okay. >> And I saw I would know it's my mom. Guys, she's been >> Okay. >> like antagonizing him. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. So, you yeah, you you it it probably it could be your mom, right? It could be your mom. >> who it is. I saw her car. >> Okay. Hello, Erica. Nice. It's all fresh. I know. It's an internal a brand new facility and I walk in here and I even even a short sleeve shirt. Oh, is it? >> Okay, before we get into the interrogation with Erica, right? Because that's what it is. Okay, and remember, the video doesn't depict custody plus interrogation equals Miranda. So, chances are she's been Mirandized, right? You can tell she's cuffed up. She's in the tank. They're going to go and talk to her. Now, what I will say is this. I'm no homicide detective. I reach out to all my homicide detective colleagues to give me information to let you know how there's this art, there's this skill of questioning, this Q&A volley that happens with the possible suspect. Now, what you see in the movies and TV shows doesn't happen in real life. Meaning, there's enough evidence to go ahead and arrest her, right? Enough probable cause, okay? Articulable set of facts that they know based on the evidence that you were the one that committed this crime. The detectives already have that, but we definitely want to get a confession. So, three things are going to happen this interrogation. One, you're going to get a confession. Two, she's going to lie. And three, she might invoke her Miranda and say, "You know what? I want to talk to my attorney. I'm done with this I'm done. I don't want to talk to you guys anymore." And at that point, the detectives have to make a determination whether they let her go or go ahead and arrest her. >> I'm not trying to get rude. It's just >> I know I don't know her at all. My dad was an officer forever, too. >> Okay. >> And then I know he tells He takes people down like this. Did you ever use it? >> Oh, it does. Nice. Yeah, so we're going to head around this gentleman right here. And then my sergeant's going to get the door really quick. So, I would like to know more about what is this going on. So, >> Well, um I've been having domestics forever. I call the cops all the time. He takes off and leaves. He you know, he just He splits my hair. He doesn't bathe any of the kids. I wish I asked if they could have if they could have brought me a phone cuz everything is in my phone. He's threatened to light my house on fire with my children in there. Um he's sick. He's To me, he thinks he's on the same he was back in the day when we first met, which is crystal meth through and alcohol. I smell meth in our home when I am home. When I am home, I haven't been home in 3 weeks. It's to get clothes and to make sure my house is okay and not being run down by a bunch of, you know, weird people. >> Yeah. >> Because at the end of the day, that's still my kids' home. Um I've been asking him to leave. My dad co-signed for the house for me and him, well for us. Um he told me he would have to kill me and my dad to keep the house. He like he's just sick, you know, he punched me in the face 4th of July. First he went to a hotel with some girl. Was waiting to go and wanting to fight everybody down there. He took off. I was like, yes, this is the time I can go home and grab my clothes for my kids and me and you know, he won't nobody will be there. I pull up and him and her are inside my house. And I knock and he comes out and he's like, get the [ __ ] out of my get the [ __ ] out of here. And at this point I have two little girls that I like Look at that. I like have raised them. They're like little kids in my neighborhood. They're my daughter's age. I was like, just go with me that way somebody's with me. Well, he punched me in the face. The little girl stands in front of him and says, you're not going to hit her. I said, get in the car and let's just go. I got in my car and left and I don't know what happened from there. I don't know if the girl stayed there. I don't know if she I don't know. And then I got a call from my daughter at like 1:00 the next day saying that I killed her dad and I might What are you talking about? Like you know, if I would have done that, I would have done it when I was black and blue and bleeding in front of you guys and my at the time 15-year-old was standing in front of him for him not to hit me. You know, like I would That's nonsense. I I've stuck with my family for 21 years to keep a family not to have a separated family, you know. >> Yeah. >> I'm like I was raised with my mom and dad and that's what all I've ever wanted for my kids was to have their mom and dad. I'm like >> Yeah. That sounds real That sounds really rough. >> Rush. >> Uh let me stop right there and kind of mention that maybe a a question that's going to be asked. Certainly I would like to know and I would probably ask, "Hey, why don't you let us know when did you find out that your husband was dead? Did you get a phone call or did someone told you texting? You tell me, you know, what happened there?" Kind of walk us through when you were notified that your husband was dead and how did it happen? What information did you get about your husband? And of course the other question would be, you know, "What was the last time you saw your husband, right?" And so on and so forth. You know, open up those doors and definitely ask all those questions. Go down those rabbit holes. It's important to know, right? >> I might on that same day the further forth I might get you guys would have actually bring my phone you guys could have seen he sent me pictures of revolvers like threatening my life like he's he's sick. And like my friend said that he didn't even say I don't I didn't even have a home. But my husband always tried to fight him and like But I just stayed home cuz I I didn't want my kids to see the domestic you know like I wasn't raised in a domestic home and I didn't want them to so I just work and stay home. I don't even know. I'm not for all I know about Chicky was with and probably set him up. She probably had a [ __ ] wife and she probably I don't even I don't even know. Okay, I'm >> You You said that you went You You went to the house to get some clothes. And that you had the two girls with you. >> No, I had my daughter's friends with me. >> Yeah, your daughter's friends with >> Yeah, they were on the next box so they couldn't hear the I guess 60. And I like sent them outside cuz everybody started fireworks and I was like, "Hey, I need you to go with me." I was like I'm going to go and get some clothes. I was like I don't know Joel pulled up the hotel with some chick with him. I was like, I just want somebody to go with me to make sure we're like if anything happens, you know. And they're like, okay. So, they got in the car and they went with me. And then um the door was locked. So, I like revved my engine to my car. And then he he came out. >> [snorts] >> And I'm like, you better get her out of my [ __ ] house, Joel. Like, I'm not even playing with you. Like, I I never disrespected you. I never Like, that's you know. And he wouldn't even let me know what he was going to do. What he was going to do. And he like threw me out in the air. And then my daughter's friend stood in front of him who was like, don't hit her again. Like, you better not And I was like, you know what, guys? He's not even worth it. Let's just get in the car. Let's go. And then I took him home and I went to my mom's. And then from my mom's house, I went into Dana's friend's house. >> So, you knew she that in your house. >> Yeah, cuz my baby daddy pulled up to the hotel that me and my friends were at. And my baby daddy got out with a gun telling some dude, what's up? What's up? Come downstairs. That's how it all happened. So, at the beginning of the whole thing that that morning took and I guess the guy that was in the hotel that I wasn't even I I talked to him once is her ex. >> Okay. >> So, she took my baby daddy to the hotel that we were at. And my baby daddy got got out and was like waving a gun telling him to come downstairs. And I'm like, Joel, get the [ __ ] out of here, dude. Like, you're You better get out of here. That's That's what I was telling you in the beginning. And then they left from there. And I was like, yeah, I have another check to go home. And I hauled ass home. We're in my driveway and I knocked on the door and he didn't open for a minute. And then he came out. And that's when I could just >> So, Joel got out of the car with a gun? >> Yeah, at the hotel. >> Tell him like tell him the guy James ex or the guy that I was I'm not [ __ ] Sorry to say, but telling him to come downstairs and I'm like he he why does he need to go downstairs? Like he nobody wants like we're not even together. Why you why would you want to fight somebody that I'm I'm not even with or nothing. >> You guys get get him out of the hotel area. >> I told him he get better leave. I was like you better Well, I told him he better leave. I was like I'm going to call the cops on you again, Joel. Like I'm going to >> [snorts] >> And then I think what made him more freaked out is cuz like guys started coming out from everywhere. I'm like there was >> What hotel is this by the way? >> Uh Motel 6. >> Motel 6, okay. On Oh, of course uh Course Lineup? Okay. >> [snorts] >> Oh, yeah. >> There was all kinds of guys that came out. >> at that hotel? >> Huh? >> Was he Was Was he screaming at that hotel when the guys were coming? >> Yeah, yeah. >> Okay. >> yelling. [ __ ] you. I didn't swear at all. Just then one other person were the first ones to find out how he passed away. He Right? >> Okay. >> I don't know. How do you know? I'm like I'm his wife and I'm in his phone and I didn't even I I don't even I didn't even get a phone call. It's why I was upset with me. >> [snorts] >> Yeah, you didn't get a phone call. You didn't have a phone on you. We didn't know >> Oh, his number is in my phone. His phone it my number is in his phone. >> We don't have it in his phone. >> Oh, yeah, I was in the middle of his phone cuz I mean like I have a boy toy. He's been my boy toy since I was like a sixth grader, you know, so I mean I I just ran back into him. >> Yeah. >> So, I'm like I'm not happy. He's not happy. You be with your people and >> I'm a How can I After fight, you you left. You said you went to your boy toy in the east >> to my mom's first. >> You went to your mom's first. Okay. Is there anything else you can remember about that night? During the fight, anything that brought out any anything that would just that we could use for your help. >> I just stayed away.
