10-4 MA location, I'm going to be going south on 63. We're almost to I-25. If somebody can set up some spikes right there. He's on the opposite lane of travel right now. He is all over the roadway. 10-4, he's right behind me. He just rammed me. He pulled off to the side of the road. He is turning around now. Please let Santa Fe Regional know. I think he's going to try to go back to the house. He's driving all over the road. >> What started as a stolen vehicle investigation quickly turned into a dangerous high-speed pursuit when a suspect allegedly refused to stop for police. Instead of pulling over, the driver led officers on a chase through busy roadways, creating a serious risk to everyone around him. As speeds climb and the pursuit intensifies, officers are forced to make split-second decisions while attempting to safely bring the chase to an end. In this body cam footage, watch as police track the suspect, coordinate the pursuit, and ultimately take the alleged vehicle thief into custody. This is Response Unit Body Cam. Real incidents, real arrests, and real police encounters caught on camera. Let's dive into the video. Get off the road. Get Get off the road. He's dangerous. You [ __ ] hit me. >> I'm trying to back up. Multiple guys are hitting my car. >> Okay. I'm going to get um >> This is the moment the pursuit goes from dangerous to completely chaotic. The suspect crashes directly into the officer's vehicle, smashing the windshield and creating an incredibly dangerous situation for everyone involved. And honestly, at this point, the suspect has turned a stolen vehicle case into a growing list of much bigger problems. Every collision during a pursuit increases the risk of serious injury to officers, bystanders, and other drivers on the road. What makes this scene especially remarkable is that a nearby civilian steps in to help the female officer gain control of the suspect until additional officers can secure the situation. Meanwhile, the suspect's escape plan has officially gone from getting away to needing a whole new plan in a matter of seconds. Let's jump back into the video. >> I was in stuff. I'm going to just head him down. I can do this. Let's sit him up. He's he's on his bike. At least on his Shut up. I don't care. Shut up. Don't talk to 146 income. Can you also start 155? I want one for the 41 he went head-on with. She's in a bike. Like a bicycle. And then the male as well. She hit her tires, but she jumped out of the way in time. He him. This was the white Navigator, yeah. That was the one we were looking for. He's coming when I come came out. 146 income. 10-4. I don't believe the 41 was injured, but he did intentionally go and I did see the bike. I mean, his vehicle hit the bike tire. >> Is this him or what? Well, get up. We're going to put you in the unit. >> I'll be okay. Ah, you don't >> Hey, I'll cuff you. >> You ran over my foot. >> We're going to put you in the unit, bro. >> Ah, she ran over >> Get up. >> I'm hurt, bro. Ah, help me, please. Okay. >> Put it >> The cops got over there. Put it. I'm injured by >> Get over here, man. Chill, bro. Hey, chill out. Chill out. Put your back up. It's okay. >> Have a seat in there. Have a seat in there. Sit in there, bro. Sit in there. Hurry up. Put your foot up. Get up. Step in there. Step in there, bro. Step in there. Hurry up. Step in there, man. I'm not going to tell you again. Step in there, bro. Last time. >> [snorts] >> You good? Chill, hey. Take a minute, dude. Take a minute. Hey, it's all good, bro. All right, dude. You good? >> 114 that individual in back of 183 unit. 55 as well. 55 [snorts] as well. >> I think they're starting a couple. I don't know what he did with the tire. I shouldn't have gotten it. I'm going to photograph everything. >> At the end of the day, this pursuit is a perfect example of how a bad decision can spiral into a much bigger situation. What started as an alleged stolen vehicle investigation ended with a crashed police vehicle, a shattered windshield, a foot struggle, and ultimately an arrest. And honestly, once someone decides to flee from police, the odds of improving their situation are usually somewhere between slim and none. Every mile of a pursuit adds more risk, more potential charges, and more danger for everyone on the road. The silver lining here is that no one was seriously injured, and the suspect was safely taken into custody.
