Do they still hear or no? >> Yeah. Well, I mean, she walked out that way, but God knows what store she probably like jumped into or she probably like ran out tomorrow or whatever. She seen me on the phone and when she seen me on the phone, she started like kind of like speed walking a little bit faster towards that way. I tried to call the finish line to see if they had seen like to come kind of like outside them too to see, but like I had her on. What was you remember what you were wearing? >> Yes. Yes. >> What started as a routine shoplifting call quickly turned into a full-scale retail theft investigation inside a busy shopping mall. Police were called after multiple stores reported a woman allegedly stealing merchandise and attempting to leave before security could stop her. But by the time officers arrived, mall security had already been tracking her movement store to store. In this body cam footage, officers confront the suspect, recover stolen items, and piece together what employees say happened throughout the mall. As questioning begins, tensions rise and the situation escalates fast. Watch the full video as police respond. Investigate the theft allegations and ultimately place the suspect under arrest. This is response unit body cam. Real incidents, real arrests, and real police encounters caught on camera. Let's jump into the video. had a blue um pants like nurse scrub. So, blue nurse scrub with a white shirt. >> Did you tell dispatch that or >> I gave them all the grocer? >> She had um she had a full locker bag. So, she came originally to exchange something. She was looking at these shirts here in the front. I had already seen her. So, I came up to her, "Hey, how are you?" And then she was like, "Oh, I'm just looking." And then I was like, "Okay." And I see her looking for a shirt. And I was like, "Oh, what size do you need?" And she's like, "Oh, a medium." She's like, "But I can help myself." She's like, she's like, "I can do it by myself." And then I was like, "You're already making it so obvious for yourself." But I'm like, "Okay." So I was like, "Oh, okay." But no, I was like, "This is my job. Whatever." So I grabbed a bag from her and I'm like, "I'm going to check the size for you." And she's like, "Okay, well, I'm looking for a medium." And she walked away from me and I didn't have a medium. So I was like, "Oh, I have a large or a small. Which one do you prefer?" She's like And she was just ignoring me the whole time. Like she wasn't talking like I was like, "Hello." Like she's like a I'm like a large. Do you want a large? You want a large? And she just kept ignoring me. And then she my other sales associate that's here right now. She was like super nice and hi. How are you? How's your day? How's your And I was like, "Oh." I was like, "Did I offend you or do you feel okay?" And she's like completely ignoring me, whatever. So, I already knew what she was doing. So, she grabbed the shirt. I like she had in her hand. I turn the corner to help another customer. When I turn back around, the shirt is not in her hand and it's not in the pile. So, I know she walked that way, but >> No, just just one one that you know. >> Yeah, just one shirt. I know for sure. I spent like 40 bucks probably. Yeah. She's like, you know, like I have camera footages for a while of her like she she's done this multiple times in a long time. >> Today she's wearing a mask. >> Yeah, she has a like the co mask like just a mask. She has her hair like in braid. She has it in a bun nurse scrub. Um blue pants. >> Black female, white female. >> Black female. She's like a little heavier. She has bag with her. Um a foot locker bag. Oh, look. That's her right there. >> That's her right there. >> Oh. Latino yellow shirt, blue jeans, blue pants. >> She called me. >> Yeah. >> At what store? >> Look, >> let's go back and get her though. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Wait, wait a minute. Um, just watch her. >> What store? >> Did she Did she come in here? Drop something. >> In the store. >> We just called it traction. What's the name of the store? >> Attraction. >> I'm not store. >> I went right there. >> I just walked right here. >> I just walked in here. >> Yeah. Maybe this belongs to >> your secrets. No. Um, >> these are not ours. >> No, >> she got hit somewhere and she's >> and she you throw their stuff in as well. >> It's not ours. >> No shirt or anything? >> Mhm. >> What are you doing? >> I'm not. I'm not. >> You want to be putting hands up? >> No. No. >> Okay. So, chill. >> Yeah. I mean, there's no reason to take it to another level cuz we're going to get all this figured out, >> right? >> Is there anything in this bag? >> No. >> Okay. Give me those bags. >> It's my purse. >> Yeah, I know. That's why I'm telling you to give me those bags. >> Okay, I'm going to get >> Thank you. >> No. Does she have that bag? >> Hey. Uh, >> she told me >> detainer. Detainer right now. >> Appreciate it. Give me all this here. >> Give me all that. Put your hands on me. >> I do nothing. >> Do you have Yeah. Do you have her? Do you have video in here? >> No. >> You don't have any video? But that's not You're >> It's not that. You didn't see her do that but but she came when she walked in. She came to this area. >> Yeah. I'm walking there. I became my chef. She came here. >> I got the sound because I thought that something fell down and I came here too. >> Do you want Yeah. Just gather that. >> Collect that and then bring it back. Yeah. We We'll have to go uh see if there's anything um from Foot Locker in there. Um then we'll we'll have to go to uh um Victoria Secret. >> Jesus. >> Hey, did you find the shirt? >> No. Okay. I I didn't go through her bags. >> It might be tucked in between here somewhere. Anywhere. She was standing over there and she came over here. It was quick. came. I thought that something dropped it from level, but I think she's already there. >> Uh-huh. >> All right. >> What do we have? >> Uh, she still got stuff with security bands on it. >> Yeah, that bag is full of uh Victoria's Secret stuff. I mean, full full. Um, she dumped it in in here. I didn't see anything for Foot Locker here. Uh, so she might still have it on. >> Listen, I don't know who keeps telling people they can outsmart an entire mall in 2026, but somebody needs to unplug their Wi-Fi. These stores have cameras everywhere. Loss prevention teams communicating with each other, license plate readers in parking lots, and security watching people move store to store in real time. This isn't the 1990s where somebody steals a shirt and disappears into the food court forever. Retail theft has exploded over the last few years and a lot of people think if they steal small amounts from multiple stores, nobody will notice. The problem is mall security notices patterns fast. Once multiple stores start calling in the same description, the clock starts ticking. And now, instead of enjoying a shopping trip, you're explaining to police why your bag suddenly looks like a clearance rack exploded inside it. Let's jump back into the video. gateway to the diner. >> You got any identification on you? >> No. >> All right. It's probably my um other phone. >> All right. Your phone's in here. >> My phone. I'm call I call my sister and tell them that they they left me. They they seen you. Yeah. When they seen y'all >> they left. They was down by M. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. I I I'll get that. You think your your ID's in your wallet in there? Yeah. >> Where you from? >> Florence Charlie Yi X 8 KC Y8. >> Copy. Lawrence liner. >> Where do you think it is? >> It's right over there. Alpha 951. right there. >> Yeah. >> Can I We'll get a female officer over here and take care of you. We have female >> napkins at the station. Um, I think you got any worse. >> No, I don't got one. >> Three. >> Last time you were arrested. >> Recently? >> Recently? >> Yeah. >> About a month. >> Have you dealt with that one yet? >> Nope. >> Um, we'll get all your family stuff arranged. you know, make sure you contact um you know, especially your grandma or grandma and let let >> let her know what's going on. Um this tolling all this is going to be uh probably felony, >> right? >> So, um but we're not going to leave your family home, >> right? >> I just want her to know ample enough of time, you know, so you can grab my cell phone. I can just tell her real quick. >> Yeah. If you can 154. >> Yeah. Yeah. She called me or whatever. I know you're not feeling good or whatever. Um I I caught a ride with Dra to the I called my ride with Dedra them to the mall or whatever at the at beach the boy beach mall. The police talking to you on the speaker phone or whatever. So I just wanted to keep my or whatever for me cuz the girl in Foot Locker had called you on speaker phone. The girl in Foot Locker had called but I know DJ them gone. You know they when they see the police they ran. So um they left me stuck out here. So, um you going to speak a phone >> and um just um get my baby. >> You know the girl I be with people >> pull us down. >> Oh yeah, thank you. You know the girl that I be with or whatever. So um if you get a chance or whatever, just go by and check on my baby. I was at the um Boy Beach Mall. So that's where they're going to take me from. I was at Fort L. Mama, you done told me. You done told me. Um, you on speaker phone. Yeah, you on speaker phone. If I would have just went and did what I needed to do today or this week. >> And you know I was trying to do it. You know I was just >> mom >> I I know you I know I know you know >> you know >> resour you be out you'll see a judge in the morning >> but I'm already out on >> Yeah >> that might Yeah. >> Yes. Um, no, he just was telling the >> No, he can't come behind. >> All right. As long as your baby's okay. >> Yeah. I'm just going to take care of it. >> Yeah. I'm just letting you know what was going on. So, Dra, >> you'll be able to talk to her again. >> Okay. Dedra had just left me. So, I just want you to know they got the um they they got all the keys, the card and everything. So, they gone. You already know how that [ __ ] go, Mom. So, that's not Yep. You going to have to get it from um I can't get in my phone. So, you going to have to you going to have to call um you going to have to call uh see if uh call Damn. I would try to tell you call big head Mike and see if he get um give you the number to uh the beach or or whatever. But he said that I'll be able to make another phone call once I get down to the station. >> Yeah. As long as it's concerning your baby getting getting it back to your mom. >> All right. >> Call again. >> Okay. >> She'll call you again. I'll be done. Just about to report it. >> Wow. We were just about to report it. She's right there. >> We were just about to report. >> Did you see her? >> Yep. She's got mask. >> Could you just come out and take a look at her? See if the person that we're with >> Hey Doug, can you step aside? >> Some people walk through a mall shopping. Other people apparently walk through a mall on a world tour of bad decisions. Going store to store stealing merchandise might seem harmless to the person doing it. But retail theft costs businesses billions every year. When stores keep losing inventory, prices go up, security increases, workers get hours cut, and in some cases, stores shut down completely. A lot of repeat shoplifterss think they're beating the system because they're only taking small items from multiple stores. Meanwhile, loss prevention is basically building a full documentary about them in real time with security footage from every angle imaginable. The craziest part is that people will risk criminal charges getting banned from malls and public embarrassment. All over items that were probably on sale next week anyway. Let's jump back into the video. >> Doug, can you step aside? >> Yeah, >> bag. Yep. >> Thank you. I was just going to record. We were just checking the door of where she was. I went back there. She made some wild and ran out of looking for her sister. >> Do you have >> Oh my god. >> Well, this is good. This is good. >> Good. But >> um you have a place where you can just go through this, itemize it, and then >> Yeah, we're going to make a whole report and every single every single skew will be recorded. >> Very good. >> Down to the very dollar. >> And you do want to prosecute, I'm assuming. >> Um yeah, let me get my store manager. >> Okay, cool. >> For sure. in just a moment. >> Yep. >> Hi. >> Hello. >> Wow. >> It's I mean I I don't know. There's a lot of items in here, but >> Okay. >> As far as valuation, >> you could just uh give us an itemized list. >> Yes, we will. >> Oh my god. We were just looking through to see what >> Oh my god. >> 1400. >> Yeah, we noticed that she went back. We come back to look in the drawer. We saw that she was missing, but we didn't know that she took I had beauty as well. She had a shopping bag also. >> We're going to we're going to email our AP person, but we'll for sure need a case number. >> Okay. Can you give me evaluation or at least uh an approximation of the value? >> Yeah, we were just about the stock. >> So, did somebody else call? >> Yeah, it was actually Foot Locker. She was stealing from there and there's probably others. >> Yeah. >> Why not? Right. >> Okay. >> Not anymore. >> What's your first name or do you have your identification? >> I don't. It's It's in the bag. >> Yeah, she was she was I went back there. She >> She got frazzled. But >> and she had the bag and just belined it after. >> She had a shopping bag also that she was putting stuff in >> in addition. So there was another back there and I wasn't leaving. I kept eyes on. >> She had a green bag. She dropped her shopping bag and just ran out. >> Okay. >> You saw her filling it up with >> No, I saw I walked back there, her back was to me. I saw her bent over with her bag and she just kind of scrambled and quickly was like, "Oh, they don't have the socks." >> And after you were suspecting Okay. All right. Good. >> After she left, she went back, checked the drawer, saw sections missing. And then I went back and we don't we don't ever leave our sections like that. And that's when you walked in. We were just having a party. >> And y'all have uh video surveillance in here? Uh >> yes, we do. >> Yep, we do. Any other stores that she stole from besides Foot Locker or? >> Um not that we know of just yet, but I'm sure there are. >> Okay. >> Yeah, >> that's crazy. Like we have people stealing here sometimes, but not not like this. Well, it's it was before your time, I'm sure. But we used to have like uh groups of people come in here and just start loading up bags. >> We still we still get we still get two of them. There's two men that do it. >> Yeah. >> And they take the bras and then they leave. They don't take much. It's not a big deal. We just report it. >> Do you know anyone? >> I'm sure it'll be uh just under the felony amount, but she probably has prior convictions, so that'll help. We haven't gotten to the very sexy part, so these are just these are nothing. This is just pocket change. >> I'm sorry. The You said for what? >> These panties are more expensive. >> Oh, okay. I got you. >> Sorry. >> No, I didn't know if that was a style that >> it is. We This is kind of like cotton and then we have like the very sexy we have synthetic. >> Oh, I got you. etc. >> So, what does it have to be on a a grand? Is that what it has to be at? >> Um, no. I believe the threshold is 750 now. >> Okay. >> Got to double check on that. >> All right. But um again, she probably has prior convictions that >> what I was saying is she probably has prior convictions, which is a >> report creates it to be a conviction of >> a felony charge. >> Got it. They're still uh tallying up over there. Um move over to the bench. >> Okay, cool. >> Um I'm going to give them the case number 774. >> What did What did you get? >> So we got the receipt. >> Oh, okay. And then I have her info. She's I know she's in the system already. And then I have her send I'm going to send her the link so she can upload the video >> video where she's concealing it where she puts them back. >> Same over there. This they're tallying up that whole duffel bag. >> Yeah. >> It's over a grand so far. >> Yeah. So, um >> are you are you going to run a criminal history? >> I did. Okay. Yeah, >> she's going to have >> she has a four exact area. >> Um, but there's >> Yeah. Oh, there's a thousand over there. >> Supposed to be second. >> Yeah. >> And then she'll get the enhancements for the other ones. >> Mhm. >> So, it'll be what? Three felons. >> All right. >> Okay. >> Second court. And the grand total is >> drum roll. >> It was. Let's see. >> I think it's the same girl. >> You think so? >> Cuz she had a face mask and the exact same description of like a Walmart bag and she was putting stuff in the Walmart bag. >> Okay. >> But Kate was here on that same day. >> Mhm. >> Same thing. She said I'm pretty sure that's her. >> Okay, cool. >> And that's the grand total >> for today. >> Yes. >> Okay. All right. Cool. Here is the case number, the arresting officer. Um, we can take this, right? >> Mhm. >> I'm going to do the request. >> Um, let me go get with the other officer. I'll be back. >> Another Victoria Secret bag. >> Another one. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um, possibly another prior to the 20 Um, so I'll tally this up and then go to grand total. Right now we're at drum roll. >> 1,085 so far. >> Okay. Okay. All right. >> Now, here's where the situation goes from bad to unbelievably reckless. According to police, the woman was already on probation and allegedly racked up a grand total of 1,085 and stolen merchandise from multiple stores, including Victoria's Secret. At some point, you would think probation alone would be enough motivation to avoid turning the mall into a side quest for free inventory. But apparently not, and people underestimate how fast those totals add up. Once theft crosses certain dollar amounts, the charges can become much more serious depending on the state. What starts as just grabbing a few things can quickly turn into felony territory. Meanwhile, loss prevention is over there tracking every move like they're assembling the Avengers of retail security. By the end of it, the shopping bag isn't the only thing getting carried out. Now it's criminal charges, too. Let's see how things play out for our shoplifter. >> That's another bag of Victoria. So that's is that the second thousand amount? >> Well, no. He's going to go do it again. That's probably another $1,000. >> Okay. You all right? >> Um property. >> All right. >> You already told her she's trespassing. >> So yeah, you are trespassed for a year. We need that from today to next year. You're not >> always in the er lobby. >> What do you got over there? >> That makes sense cuz all them surfaces was empty. >> Did she have a green bag with her? She had a dark green bag. This >> is not that one. >> No, it had words on it. >> I think >> Well, that's all we got so far. Maybe in the the other place that had like a darker like kind of like a lighter kind of like >> like a plastic bag or shopping bag. >> Yeah, like a plastic kind of like that. And it had words on it. Black words. >> Let me go check this place next door and I'll be back. If you could just tally that up. >> Yeah, we'll definitely >> You need this to like reopen this or I'll just hold on to this. Hold on to that and then we can just add the items together. >> Okay. You said there was another bag, like a green bag. So, I'm just going to go check attraction or whatever it is. Just her. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. I think >> What store were we missing? >> I don't think we're missing any stores, but she went into a track. >> Yeah, let's let's do a sweep. Take care of her. How many? 20 uh 4194 >> 4914 4914 >> 49 >> 4914 >> 104 Thank you. >> Hi. >> We're just going to uh look around one more time. See if she dumped anything else. >> So, it's your first day. First day you seen >> double check. >> All right. I thought he did too. >> I provided the caller with advice. You can close it out. >> Yeah, that's where we found the first bag. >> Okay. >> Double check. >> All right. Uh, so just we just got to get the the total from Victoria Secrets. So it's just two stores right now. >> Yeah. Um, >> I'll do the case from the other day. >> Um, 72nd Street, 406 Street. >> No. No. >> 914. Yeah. How are you? >> Good. Good. >> Usually usually we don't catch them like this. >> I was surprised when I walked in. I was like, I already had a feeling because we recognized her. >> She ran up the second bag, done. >> Yep. >> I've already run the first. >> Yeah, that was over a thousand. So, uh, and then I didn't realize cuz there was like a a towel over it. I didn't realize there was other stuff. all your >> So, it's coming up at 6, but >> should it should be coming up as regular price, right? >> Oh, you just go with the uh go with the sale price. >> I'll be right back. So, if you could just explain to me just as you did before about um the woman that was in here and what she was doing and how she responded to you trying to make contact with. >> And shortly after we opened at 11:00, >> um I came back to grab an iPad in the office and I noticed a customer that I had not seen come in. I dropped off the iPad and came back this direction. Her back was to me. She was in front of this panic table and she was humbling in the drawers with her bags and I made my presence known. Excuse me, may I help you? And she dropped a few things and set a few things down and pretended to be on the phone. Whether she loves or not, you know, I'm looking for this size and looking through some other drawers. I came right up. I stood right up next to her. We're kind of taught that if you're suspicious that you're supposed to give excellent customer service and make your presence known. So, I was offering to help her with sizes and styles, and I think she knew I was on to her. She set some stuff down. I walked over to the register and kept watching >> and then she kind of left in a hurry. Said, "I'm going to get my sister." I left my bag there and she ran out the store. >> She ran out the store with the bags that >> Yeah. >> Okay. And that was this area here. I'm just uh >> Yeah. >> documenting this area here. >> Yeah. She was kind of bent over like this when I came up from behind. She was kind of rumaging. And then she Oh, she dropped a few things and >> Right. Right. >> saw me and >> Okay. And she made no attempt to pay for the items, right? >> No, sir. She did not. >> And then afterwards, the woman that we had uh made contact with, was that the same woman that you had seen in the store? >> Yes, it was. >> Okay. Do you swear and affirm everything you've told me is the truth? Nothing but the truth. So, help me God. >> So, help me God, I swear. >> Yes, you swear. Do you want to prosecute? >> Yes. Okay. >> It's up to the store. You know what? Does the store want to prosecute? >> Wait, can I call my DM? Cuz I I was just on the phone. I cut the conversation short cuz you produced >> Victory Circle welfare checks. Did you make contact? >> Um, we got our merchandise back, but we still want to prosecute. >> Yes. Okay. Yeah. All right. >> Okay. There you go. Thank you. >> At the end of the day, situations like this almost always end the same way. Somebody walks into a store thinking they found an easy shortcut to getting what they want. And a few hours later, they're sitting in the back of a police car wondering how everything went so wrong. Retail theft might look easy on social media clips, but in real life, there are cameras everywhere. Security teams communicating in real time and police responding faster than people expect. What some people think is a quick score can turn into probation violations. Criminal charges, court dates, fines, and an arrest record that follows them for years. And honestly, risking all of that over mall merchandise is wild, especially when the stores already know the drill and loss. Prevention is basically running a liveaction detective series behind the scenes. Crime might look tempting in the moment, but most of the time it ends exactly like this. Embarrassment, handcuffs, and consequences. Crime never pays.
