Let's begin with a Brazilian mother turned hero when a thief picked the wrong crowd to mess with. On May 12th, 2018, during a Mother's Day celebration at a school in Susano, Brazil, a gunman appeared outside the gates and tried to rob a group of women and children. But among the terrified crowd was an offduty military police corporal with over 20 years of experience. Acting in an instant, officer Katya Dilva Sastra drew her weapon and fired, stopping the attacker before he could harm anyone. The suspect later died from his wounds. Sustra faced no charges and was later praised by the governor of Sao Paulo, even going on to be elected to Congress that same year. Next up, an 84 yearear-old man proved that courage has no age limit. Get out. >> Frightened but fearless. [Music] Next up, a tense backyard confrontation turned into a shocking standoff between an armed burglar and a fearless homeowner. >> What's up, bro? Ho ho ho ho. >> On July 21st, 2023, during a hot summer afternoon, a man relaxing at home spotted a masked intruder with a gun creeping through his backyard, attempting to break in. But instead of panicking, the homeowner grabbed his own even bigger firearm and the tables instantly turned. >> What's up, bro? Oh, ho ho ho. Che, man. The armed burglar, realizing he was outmatched, began begging for his life as the homeowner calmly tried to talk him down, offering peace instead of violence. Next up, a brave bus driver in Barbados turned the tables on two armed robbers. On July 16th, 2023, 46-year-old Marlon Tempro was on his usual night shift driving a public service vehicle when he unknowingly picked up two passengers with sinister intentions. Moments later, the men revealed guns and tried to rob him. I guess you know we going kill me. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. But instead of panicking, Tempro stood his ground. His fearless response gave the robbers the scare of their lives, forcing them to flee. when he stopped the bus. Police later arrested 16-year-old Daniel Mason and 18-year-old Tamil Taylor, charging both with robbery and brandishing a firearm. Next up, an 80-year-old store owner showed that age is no match for courage. [Music] In the early hours of July 31st, 2022, longtime shopkeeper James Cop was working his night shift at the Norcco Market and Liquor Store in California when four masked men armed with AR-15 rifles stormed inside. >> Here's here. Here's here. [Music] It's more. [Music] [Applause] >> They expected an easy robbery from a frail old man, but they were wrong. In seconds, cop raised his shotgun and fired, blasting the arm of the first robber who entered. The others panicked and fled, rushing their wounded accomplice to a hospital where police were waiting to arrest them. >> I'm glad that they caught the guys and I'm glad Craig shot him. I mean, he's a local hero, you know, especially, you know, >> though the confrontation triggered a heart attack, cops survived and became a local hero for defending his store. >> Made their choice to come in here and do this. I made my choice to defend my life. That's it. And then this is where you were standing when they actually came in. >> Yes. >> Was your gun up and ready or no? >> I'm pretty fast. I appreciate it. >> Police later charged all four suspects with attempted robbery, assault with a firearm, elder abuse, and multiple weapons offenses. Sadly, James Cop passed away later that year from a stroke, but his bravery will never be forgotten. Next up, an elderly man in Buenosire proved he was far from helpless. Late one evening outside his home, a 78-year-old retiree was suddenly confronted by a 15-year-old boy who jumped from a van and pointed what appeared to be a handgun at him. But this was no ordinary old man. Acting fast, he drew his.357 Magnum and fired five shots, fatally striking the teen. When police arrived, they discovered the boy's weapon was a fake and his two accompllices had fled the scene.
