Three white stripes has a large uh butcher knife in his hand. Sir, put down the knife. >> Copy. I [music] have >> him at gunpoint. PUT IT DOWN. >> PUT YOUR GUN DOWN. >> BACK UP, RICHARD. He's coming out. He's going north. He's going to the north side of his house. >> Okay, I'm going to stop right here right now to let you know that look, now we're going to get into a major shootout, okay? Cuz he's running. They got to contain him. But I will say this, if you're going to bring a gun into a gunfight, you better bring a high power rifle, a long gun ready to go, okay? That's that's pretty much the name of the game right here because as you can see the suspect is armed also with a high power rifle. >> Come here. >> Hey y'all take cover. Take cover. Take cover. >> Where is he? Where is he? He's pointing at y'all. >> I don't want to buy that tree right there in front of us. The white truck. that tree right to the right of it. >> He's He's reloading. >> Hey, give you a better position. Let me move. >> Hey, Le. He's He's reloading. He's still in those bushes right there. He's running that way. He went behind this shed right there. I can't see him. He's behind the shed. >> Watch him. >> He's in the shed. >> Behind it. Behind it in his yard. >> Is there shed watching windows? >> Somebody needs to get on this. I'm going to back my vehicle down this west road. >> Hey. Hey. What? Is he behind this white shed? >> No, he's on his yard. That house right there. He's in that yard. That >> across the fence, Leo. >> Hey, sir. Sir, sir, step back. Step back. Behind the bush. >> Step back. >> I hear I hear like reloading or something. >> He's trying to reload. I can hear him reloading that rifle. >> I can hear him reloading or something. >> What that tells you, you know what? he's willing and able to get into a gunfight. All bets are off. You know what? Just be safe, okay? If there's anything you're going to get out of this video, this particular incident is officers will always say cover and concealment. Cover and concealment. Very, very important. [sighs] >> Go get the Mr. >> Can you see that side of the yard? >> The side of the shed. >> Are you able to see the yard? >> I see this yard right here. Yeah. There he is. >> Don't move. >> Drop it. >> Drop it. >> Oh, he's down. He's shot. >> We're moving up. Don't move. >> DON'T MOVE. >> Don't move. >> Don't move. STAY RIGHT HERE. Y'ALL HOLD IT. >> DON'T GO CROSS ME. >> MOVE. HOLD WHAT YOU GOT. Hold what you got. >> Get guns away from me. Don't cross. He's got >> shot several times firearm has been separated. >> Hey, watch that hand. Watch that hand. Watch his hand. >> He's got it on something in it. I don't know what he's holding. >> If he's holding a detonator. >> Oh my god. That's not good. Okay, that's like bomb squad kind of stuff that you're going to have to get those resources. Uh what I will say is that you know what? [ __ ] outstanding job containing and getting the suspect called for. He's in custody. However, we have to form an arrest team to go ahead and cuff him up. >> Is he holding a detonator in his pocket? >> All right, I'm going up, guys. around. >> Grab my med bag in the back. >> You want to get med now? Med bag now. >> And it's also worth mentioning I want to stop here right now. If you have been watching the channel, we've done a couple of videos thus far is I will always say this, preservation of life is key. That's number one priority. Okay? Regardless victim, suspect, or whoever it is. Who's in the house? >> His hand. >> I'm about to clear that. We're not hold. >> I got porch covered. >> Yeah, we need eyes over here. Watch >> in case there's more. But we got him and the gun. >> I don't know. >> I don't know. >> There's There's ammunition everywhere. Right here. Don't move, man. >> Boom. >> I don't know where his >> med. >> Yes, sir. evidence right here. >> Here, bring them right here. >> I'm going to watch the thing. >> We need to clear this house. >> I don't know. Just hold what we got right now. >> They need us at the victim. >> Okay, we're making >> should be original address. Let me check. Have we cleared over here? >> We haven't went nowhere yet. >> I don't know if there was multiple shooters or we just had one. I kind of want to clear this house to make sure there's nobody in here. >> Hold on. >> Hey, hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hey. Hey. Hey. >> I got your right side. >> They're going in in the front. Try to look up a name. Last name Whiskey India Echo Romeo. >> They're on that on that side on I'm not sure what the address was. I had that cleared yet. Can we make our way over there? >> Is this the original house? Hey, send EMS over here. We got two down on the front porch. It looks clear as far as I can see. The room goes deep here. And there's another room back there. >> Come on. Come on. Get it. There's also a room here. Come on. >> Hey, keep an eye out here. SHERIFF'S OFFICE. Sheriff's office. IF YOU'RE INSIDE, MAKE YOURSELF KNOWN. Game time, boys. Game time. Hold on. Hold on. Sheriff's office. Where we going? Where we going? Go ahead. Clear. >> All right. I'm holding here. They're in there. Clearing it. >> We're clear inside. I said we're clear inside. >> You guys don't mind. Just help me clear. >> Okay. I'm going to stop right there and uh let you know a couple of things. First of all, when they say clear, the clear the house means you got to go and search the house for multiple victims and multiple suspects. Right now, what's more important than anything, and this is super crucial, is that the information that the 911 dispatcher gets from the PR, the person reporting or the RP, the reporting party or the victim or the suspect, right? You have to identify who's calling 911. That information needs to be relayed to the officer and it's got to be precise as possible, right? Give me some really good information. Like, for example, how many shooters do we actually have? I know we have one, but as you can tell, when your adrenaline is just pumping and you, you know, high stress, you know, high dynamics, you know that there's one suspect, but what you don't know if there's multiple suspects andor other situations that you're going to have to encounter. Okay. >> Shot to the chest. I don't know over here, too. Neck several times. >> Shot in the back or went through. >> Hey, we're clear over here. We need EMS. >> You only seen one? >> When I heard the shots, I come out of the backyard. A lot of shots. Is everybody over here? Okay. >> Nobody struck with anything. >> Looks like there may be a bullet hole in the wall here. >> We got suspect down multiple. So, we're just camping. >> You want EMS to check you out? >> You guys call on her. >> I'm sure there's going to be like all rounds in here. Six. I want to the 497s. >> Good. That's what we signed up for, right? >> How close did he get to you? Were they wisdom by you? Got to love it. >> We saw it happen. >> We'll be back with you in a minute. Are you injured? And do you need medical? >> We're good. I just got ricocheted here. We got holes in our >> Have EMS come by and check you out. All right. >> We're all good, though. >> EMS going to check you out. You You got hit by a bullet, right? >> Was coming through the house. >> The glass ricocheted in my house where bullets went through. >> He had more mags ready to go. He had a whole vest on like us. He was shooting from there to that house. You see the bullet holes? >> The only other angle was I shot from this truck. >> There's holes there, but I don't know if those >> Well, that was the that was the victims from him. >> Get with everybody at this house. If there is anybody, I want you all get all their names. Do a walk through and see what damage. If there is damage, take pictures for me. >> Okay. That's family member to deceased. >> Okay. Yeah. Good. >> Was it both of them? Corbin and Debbie. Do you know where they're going to be taking them? Are they going to be mobile? No. Oh my god. >> Yeah, please. >> Are you okay? And anybody with you? Okay. Okay. That's all. I'm making sure. >> Matt, he's going to stand by with her. I'm going to give them some room and then they're going to get with me before they leave. >> We're still trying to make sure this is secure. Y'all only seen one shooter. Correct. >> That's the only one I seen, but listening to it, it only I'm agreeing with him. Okay. >> Thank you folks very much. I'm terribly sorry for the noise. >> Can you tell me if the lady over here is okay or she's okay? >> His mother's usually there. >> If the she's usually inside there >> and his grandfather or his father his father drives a white Dodge Ram 4x4. >> I don't know where he is at. >> Okay. >> I think my shot one of them hit him in the in the hip and one hit him right in the foot. hit the ground. >> Um, >> okay. I'm going to stop right there because I'm going to talk procedure, protocol, right? Process. Okay. Post OIS. What's very very important to know is that all this information that the uh deputies, the officers are telling, you know, while we're watching the body cam is all part of the public safety statement, right? The PSS mainly nine questions. Uh, one of the nine questions is at which direction did you fire your weapon? Right? And as you can tell, they can say southernly direction, southwest, north direction. whatever direction that may be. But you got to kind of stop those nine questions and go check and see where those bullets landed, right? Those casings because that's going to be important because you don't know if you're going to have additional witnesses, victims, more than anything, probably victims, right? So that's very, very important to know also is to protect your rights as an officer because as you may know, you might get criminally filed on. So you want to be able to get that information in order, right? Whoever that sergeant is, that PSS, I am ordering you to tell me these nine basic questions. Okay? And having these free talks, that's fine because we want to coordinate efforts as to see what resources we need to conduct a full-blown OIS investigation, right? Tape off the inner perimeter and the outer perimeter. But these are really, really important things to know. >> Y'all wanted to hang out there. >> I hope y'all want to buy that song. >> Do you know if there was any he had any issues with anybody? Somebody's been beating on her trailer, >> he's always shining flashlights and stuff on her house, lighting it up, all kinds of junk. >> Okay. >> CR saying that the guy that was doing the shooting there from this yellow house and his mom's usually there. Has anybody checked on her or checked that house >> cuz they're saying that like she should be home. So, he might have done something to her, too. And they they were concerned. >> It looks like they were just moving in. >> Yeah. >> They they said they've been working on this house for a couple months. Even though never been through this, nothing like this before, but you know, at some point in time, they're going to swap your guns, stuff like that. Just a little note, all this everything. Okay. >> Okay. I'm going to stop right there also because that is the uh the chief, right? The sheriff. Uh he is the ultimate decision maker, meaning he's the adjudicator. Uh, by no means should the chief be walking through the crime scene, right, to this OAS and asking any questions about, you know, how many shots did you fire? Why did you use that leaf force? All those very pertinent important questions are left up to the investigators. Okay. Then the chief gets to adjudicate uh this OIS. >> Hey, all all doors are locked. We already checked. But >> what break it? >> And listen. Thank you. I love you. >> Good job. Always. >> Uh, what's the back door? Is there a kick in a door we can kick in? >> I think so. >> Let's check the back door there. >> Hey, hold here. I did. >> I did. >> You did? >> Yeah. >> Sheriff's office. One confirmed round here. It's a suspect's house straight ahead. >> It sound like fireworks going off. Then he started again and I could see him what he I don't know what he cuz he's kind of a loner and >> right >> anyways he was taking that gun and he was like going one tree and then he run out someplace else and he was like he was trying >> right >> he was after somebody. Maybe he was a hallucinate. Maybe he's on drugs. >> That's a new mag. Look where mom's at. Good idea. Look in the freezer. >> Hey, uh, >> they want you to go check that house with the red car over there. >> The red car? >> Yeah, it's going to be on the other side of the street. So, go over there. >> See if there's any damage. Make contact with the people. See if anything get named. All right. >> Appreciate you, man. Doing a good job, bro. >> Where is that? On that corner. >> A what? >> A bomb. He was holding something in his pocket. bomb. >> Okay. So, anytime you mention the word bomb or holding something in his pocket, I think I also heard detonator. You know what? Better be safer than sorry and just call out the bomb squad so they can clear uh the main location and you're going to have to evacuate all surrounding areas. Okay. >> All right. >> He was holding something in his pocket. If you're saying it looks like a bomb, be careful. I don't know if he was holding a detonator. >> He was hold I swear he was holding something in his pocket. >> Homemade explosive on that road. >> Did you see him holding that thing in his pocket? >> Yeah, he was doing this. I was scared you let it go. >> 27s in that house across the road. >> I heard them say that >> because that's where I saw him running from when I was getting my rifle out of the truck. >> We probably shot at least 10 to 15 times before I came outside to see if they were okay on the porch. My wife and them were in the yard. I went to the back side. Yeah, when I first laid eyes on him, that's when I come. I holler at him, "I'm getting you bigger and get out of here." He probably shot eight or 10 more times then. Then he run back around on this side of the house and then he saw me standing at the back door and Brandon in the yard. That's when he actually turned and pointed to us. I jumped back in the house, ran him jump behind the tree. I heard him shoot. Then he come running back across when I see him squatting down over reloading his clip. >> Okay. >> Um he reloaded his clip. He went back that direction again in a in a shooting stance. Running in a shooting stance. It almost sound like he was shooting at somebody over there and them shooting back. Don't know. It sound like might have been because of echo coming off them buildings or whatever. It almost sound like two different calories at one time. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, when we wrap up this case, we got to ask ourselves a couple of questions. Who did he shoot before the deputies got there? >> Okay. And how does a neighborhood call end with three people dead? We'll get into that, but first, officers raced to a school after a caller says a man with a knife is chasing people on campus. Take a look. >> 911. What is the location of the emergency? >> Uh, elementary. >> Do you need police, medical, or fire? >> Somebody's walking around with a knife >> on the campus. >> Yeah, >> he's just kind of walking around with it. >> Yeah, he's taking people who get close to them. >> Is he white, black, Hispanic, or Asian? >> Black. >> And what is he wearing? >> He's wearing a blue shirt. He has shorts on. >> And he How big is the knight? >> It's pretty big. You can >> like a butcher knife. >> Yeah, like a butcher knife. >> It is a butcher knife. >> Yeah. Yeah, that's what it is. >> Okay. All right. I will go ahead and we'll let officers know. Okay. >> All right. Star, we've got the light skin BMA long sleeve light blue shirt [music] and dark blue or black shorts, black Adidas shoes with three white stripes. Has a large uh foot in his hands [music] facing back and forth in front of the location. >> Same one. Is there anyone around him? >> Uh, not that we see right now, though. Okay, so I'm going to stop right here before we get any deeper into the incident and to let you know that having an airship, having a helicopter, it's such a great resource, right? such a great tool to have because they're able to not only have like an orbit 30,000 foot view, bird's eye view if you will, of the incident and what the suspect's actions are, but they're able to orchestrate and kind of guide and direct units how to position themselves in a safe manner. >> Sir, put down the knife. We've been telling him to drop the knife. I don't know if he's just ignoring us. We've got a unit in the parking lot. He's walking northbound towards the unit now. He's ignoring our commands. >> Sir, please put down the knife. >> Stop. >> Charles 16, he's walking towards me with the knife. >> Copy. >> I have him at gunpoint. He's not cooperating. Sir, please put down the knife. Sir, what do you need from me? Can I help you? Put down the knife, please. Please, I don't want to hurt you. Just put it down, sir. PUT IT DOWN. DON'T DO IT. DON'T DO IT, SIR. PLEASE. >> I SEE HIM. >> Ignoring commands tonight. >> You got to PUT IT DOWN. YOU GOT TO PUT IT DOWN. LISTEN, don't do it. No, it's not. I will SHOOT YOU. PUT DOWN THE KNIFE NOW. SIR, please don't do it. DROP IT. DROP THE KNIFE. DROP THE KNIFE [screaming] NOW. DROP THE KNIFE. HEY, GIVE ME A LESS LETHAL. >> DROP THE KNIFE. >> DROP THE KNIFE. >> DROP IT. DROP IT. >> DROP IT. [cheering] PLEASE >> DROP IT. >> NO. NO. NO. NO. >> HEY, give me a taser AND A LESS LETHAL NOW. >> GOT TASER. >> DROP IT. DROP IT. [screaming] >> DROP. >> 16. Shots fired. Shots fired. One down. Code three fire. Sir, where's the knife? >> Drop the knife. >> Where is it? Where is it? >> Hold on. Stay with me. >> I'm with you. I'm with you. I'm with you. >> Okay. Look, probably the most controversial police shooting that we all witness is when you see a man with a knife. Okay? And I certainly I'm nobody to be passing judgment or scrutinizes the actions of the officers. By no means. Okay? And I will never tell you if it's a good shoot or a bad shoot. But what I will say is when you deescalate, okay, and think about this, okay? When you deescalate and tell the suspect to continue to drop the knife, drop the knife, at what point do you transition into deadly force? >> Oh, they got him. >> My knife is right here. Keep him down. Keep them down. GET THEM LESS LETHAL. GET A SHOTGUN. >> We have the knife. >> I got the knife. I got the knife. >> You got it. All right. Moving. Moving. You and me. Move in. Move in. Hey, grab a med kit now. Put that med kit. Med kit. Sam one. Here's the chain. Starting clean. Fire's cleared in our code. Gloves. Am I bleeding up? >> I don't know. We're trying to take care of you, bud. >> All right. >> Hey, Pat. >> Any other weapons? >> Okay. >> Got stuff in the right pocket. >> Okay. >> So, the phone. >> All right. We got one GSW to the stomach. Chest shield chest. >> Yeah. Burning >> scissors. Scissors. >> I got here. >> I got him. >> Go for it. Pants. Pants. Pants. >> You're going to be fine, bro. We got you. All right. >> So, one to the stomach. >> One to the stomach. Chest seal. >> Give you another chest seal for the belly button. That >> right next to that right here. >> We're going to flip him towards me. >> Flip him. Check his back. Check his back. >> No legs. He likes it. Nope. Do you want me to hold pressure there? >> Uh, >> yeah. Yeah. >> Thank you. You want to go live up? >> You're good. We got you, bro. >> Hey, what's your name, bud? >> Jamal. >> Jamal. >> Jamal. What's your last name? Jamal. >> You doing okay, buddy? >> We're going to take care of the hospital. The ambulance is coming right now for you. >> Would this be fatal? >> I hope not. It doesn't look doesn't look like it, but bud. All right. >> Can you please? >> No, we don't want to do that. Jamal, >> you're a nice shot, man. You don't got to shoot, right? >> No. No. >> Who shot? >> I don't know. >> You don't I was running out of. Did you shoot? >> No, sir. >> Did you shoot? Pon >> Pon, did you shoot? >> I did. >> Who? >> Who else shot? >> Oh, no. >> I did not. I chased. >> You chased? >> I tased. >> Zero. Did you shoot? >> No, I was grabbing this. >> Zero. What's stuck beside me? >> So, we're going to start tape and then >> tape. >> These two stay on medical aid till fire gets here. You guys start tape. Do tape and then hit welfare checks on these houses, please. >> Where you stay at, Jamal? >> Right down the street. >> Down the street. >> This guy shot, man. He's Oh, he left me. >> Yeah, I got shot. >> Did you guys get [screaming] him IDed yet? >> Yeah, I'm working on it now. >> Okay, >> man. I know. >> Where's the knife? >> It's in the back of my car. Take over me. >> No, no, no. You You hang out. You're good. Just come with me. We're Are you Hey, Zero. You good on medical aid? Get him to fire. Okay. >> That guy has a good shot, man. I at least >> You think this might be fatal? Think this might be fatal? So, let's start over here. So, let's start with this door. We're going to go making it big. All right. So, we're going to go this. Oh, man. That's crazy. I think I'm dying. Am I bleeding a lot, sir? >> Now, we got you patched, >> huh? >> We got you patched. >> So, I'm not bleeding anymore. Isn't like internal bleeding or something like that? Not too bad. We got fire on the way. They're going to check out on it. Is there a bull inside of me right now? I don't know. >> Don't know. Probably. Huh? How's your day, man? I just talking to you. I got shot. [laughter] I got shot. I was like, "Yo, how's your day, sir?" >> My day's going. >> Yeah, I I feel like I'm going in and out, you know. Thank you for being with me, man. >> Hey, man. >> God, the compassion's just at another level. Look, unless you come fill these shoes, and I've never been involved in an OS. Let's just get that clear. I'll make that uh the disclaimer. Uh I wouldn't know what it's like to live uh with those decisions for the rest of your life. Okay. >> Ah. Hey, Zero. Is it okay if I toss a blanket on? Keep warm. >> Yeah. You got one? >> Yeah. >> It's magic. Doing good, buddy. You hear those sirens are coming for you. All right. And then you sir, >> jump in. You're going to drive. I'm going to jump in with him to the hostel. All right. >> You doing good, buddy? Yeah, he'll heat you up right quick. >> Yeah, you'll be all right. >> Thank you for the uh comfort. >> You want would you like us to roll you on your side so you're off the cuffs, Jamal? >> All right. >> He wants the other side. It'll be easy. >> There you go. Okay. Is that better, bud? Put your head up. >> Pillow. Put your head down. All right. >> Best pillow I got. My >> try to get you out of here as quickly as possible. Okay. All right. I will be taking your public safety statement. I will be asking you specific questions, so please answer only the questions asked you. What was your approximate location when you discharged your firearm? >> I was at the rear of my vehicle. >> Is this your vehicle right here? >> Yes, sir. >> And you were standing behind it? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> What was the approximate number of rounds you fired and in what direction? >> I fired approximately three rounds to the south. >> DROP IT. [screaming] DROP IT. >> 16 shots fired. Shots fired. One down. Code three fire. >> Jamal, keep talking to me. What else you got going on today? Good. Okay. So, what you just saw is the sergeant who gives the PSS the public safety statement. And it's done for a couple of reasons. And I mentioned this in the first case, right? The first video. You got to take immediate action, right? For those who are the shooter or the shooters and for those who are substantially involved. So, the officer that had uh the less lethal, right, the taser, he's also going to be asked the PSS. Now, as you know, the PSS basically comes with nine questions. And I have it here up for you, but you know, a couple of those. He asked, uh, I'll give you another one. Is it possible that the suspect fire runs at you? Right? If so, from what direction were the rounds fired? You got to ask, right? Is anyone injured? If so, where are they located? And it goes on to ask very, very specific questions. Uh, here's one that's very important depending on the circumstances. Are there any outstanding suspects? If so, what is their description, directions, and mode of travel? Right? How long have they been gone? what crime are they wanted for? What weapons are they armed with? Right? And of course, you can just check it out yourself, but it's part of the process. It's part of the protocol and procedure. Uh that sergeant when he gives a PSS has to separate and monitor. So, what he's going to do because he's got a lot of plate spinning, right? Not only does he have to get the PSS, but he also is probably going to declare himself to be the incident commander. And at the same time, he's got to monitor and separate him from the other officers or you get under the sergeant to come at scene to separate and monitor the shooting officer. >> So, ask how my day was. How was yours? >> Uh, mine was pretty chaotic. Got shot. >> Well, [laughter] before that, were you doing okay, buddy? >> Um, no. I was at my house just chilling. I have schizophrenia. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> I have voices and stuff. >> Okay. Well, we're just glad you're okay, dude. Just you can't run up on us with a knife, bro. It scares the out of us. >> Hey, hey, hang out with us. >> You're good. Stay awake, buddy. You're good, Jamal. >> Think I have to have surgery? >> Not, doctor. I wish I could give you those kind of answers. >> Why they got the fire? >> You're good. >> Fire on you. >> Doing good, Jamal. All right, bud. >> Yeah. >> Fire department's here. All right. They're going to take over, get you through the hospital. I'm going to ride with you. We're going to have a chill conversation. Keep you awake, dude. >> You guys ever listen to Radio Head? >> Yeah, a little bit. >> You listen to Radio Head? >> Yeah, dude. Yeah. >> What song you like? >> Let down. >> Let down. >> This is going to sound weird coming from a cop, but I like creep. >> A solid song. >> Uh, two GSWs to the abdomen. >> Two shots. >> Yeah. >> I got shot. >> And then I've got his info in my car. >> Okay. >> Hello. >> What's that? >> Y'all need me out of the way? >> Sure. >> All right. >> What's that? >> I have no idea. I have no I just got here. >> It's my son. He's schizophrenic and we can't find him in the house. >> Gotcha. Let's do this. Let's go on the other side of this tape over here over by these cars. >> I didn't hear him go outside the house. >> Let me just get some information from you. >> Oh my god. >> Cuz I I don't know what was going on. I don't know who he was involved. What's your son's name? Okay. >> Jamal. J A M A L G. >> When did you last see him? I And again, I don't know if he's involved. I don't know. But I just want I just want to get your information and everything. >> Maybe about 30 minutes ago. >> Okay. And you said he suffers from schizophrenia. >> Yeah, he bipolar schizophrenia. He was having a hard time >> today. He was having a hard time. >> Uhhuh. I probably should have had the door shut so I can hear it. >> And what was going on with that? Like what? >> Um, he was just hearing voices. He was walking back and forth, facing back and forth. >> Okay. Did he have any lemons tonight? Anything crazy? >> Um, do you know what's going on? >> We shouldn't make >> Well, no. Did he Did he like have anything with him? >> No, cuz he he doesn't have access. He has maybe like a steak knife. Maybe a steak knife. >> Yeah, that would be the cuz he would find it in the in the kitchen. >> Does he normally >> Well, we kind of hide them. So, >> Gotcha. >> Yeah. >> Do me a favor. >> Just hang tight. >> Okay. >> Stand up. >> Doing great, Jamal. >> All right. There you go. Perfect. >> Can I get one of his hands free, please? So, we're going to have you guys just Where's your car? >> Right there. >> Might just have you go sit in your car for right now and just chill for a second? >> Yeah. You want us to be on ice? >> Yeah. >> All right. No cams. >> No cams on ice. >> Check. Camera off for Sergeant sitting on ice. >> Okay. So, let's go ahead and wrap up this case right here. some final thoughts. Uh first and foremost, a big shout out to Sacramento PD. This is in my backyard in the state of California. What I will say is this is in our state, like other states throughout the nation, uh there is language codified when using deadly force, when we talk about deescalation as it relates to subjects that are suffering from a mental episode or mental illness. Okay? uh you know, you try so hard to deescalate and you give every effort uh to not get involved or not engage in deadly force. Okay? And and again, those decisions are totally up to my colleagues at that time. I'm no one to be passing judgment or scrutinizing uh every single one of their uh of their moves or their actions. Okay. Now, why did the suspect not comply with commands? Okay. And at what point do officers stop deescalating and transition into deadly force? Okay. Well, the first question, uh, not complying with commands. You know what? He's the one that actually called 911. He, meaning the suspect slash person reporting slash RP, reporting party, right? And essentially, he might have his intentions and his reasons why he wanted to call 911. uh there is a lot of theories and studies out there about having cops uh giving them that influence to go ahead and engage in deadly force. Okay, so I'll leave that there. Now, as the second question, so at what point do you stop deescalating? Well, you know what? Uh what I will tell you is that if a suspect is lunging and coming at you with a knife, you have to make those decisions and those decisions will be scrutinized, but you have to live with those for the rest of your career. Okay. Now, moving to the first case, case one, the first veto we saw. Again, big big shout out to Okchobee, right? County Sheriff's Office. And the questions we had is who did he shoot before the deputies got there. Well, the answer to that is two innocent victims. Uh they happen to live there. We don't know what the motive or the intentions are. Uh and that's still pending, right? We still have to find out, but uh it just seems as though that he just decided to go on a shooting spree. Okay. Now, how does a neighborhood call end with three people dead? Well, I just mentioned the two victims and of course the shooter to stop that threat uh ends up being the third. And thank God that the uh heroic acts by all the deputies, all uh officers involved in this particular OIS in the first video we saw uh were safe, right? It could have ended up being worse. Okay. Now, I'm going to leave you with this, and I say this in other videos, and I'll say it here. You know, an OIS, an officer involved shooting, uh, you don't get to choose when that happens. You know what? The OIS chooses you. Be safe out there. Paul killed Pervin and Debbie Evans, then subsequently died when deputies returned fire. Now, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigated this officer involved shooting. However, there are no public sources regarding the outcome of this OIS. Okay. So Jamal was booked for a felony assault involving attempted injury to a peace officer after the officer involved shooting DOIS. As of now, there are no available court records, news follow-ups, or sentencing scene details regarding the outcome of these charges in any public sources.
