Samantha Steel was ultimately placed under arrest for driving under the influence after she called Cook County Commissioner Scott Britton, whom she identified as her attorney, to police. While being checked out of the hospital, Steel mocked an Asian police officer by repeatedly asking him, "Is your penis that small?" in an Asian accent. Despite public outrage and the Chicago Sun-Times editorial board calling for her to step down, Steel has refused to apologize or resign and continues to serve on the influential Board of Review, which handles property tax reviews for Cook County residents.
