Not every time you respond to a call is to crime ongoing. Sometimes you have to piece it together to know what happened. >> She was coming out and heard five shots. She said, "There you go." >> And she's like, "It sounds like it came from a gun >> in front of your own kid. That's ridiculous." >> We have an 18-year-old who shoots his friend and claims the gun accidentally fired while he was cleaning it. >> I was cleaning my gun. It was jammed. I couldn't figure out what's wrong with it. There was there was just like I've done that a thousand times. I've never had it happen to that gun. And we have a woman who opens fire during a Christmas custody exchange before fleeing in a high-speed chase with her kids in the back. >> Show me your hands. >> SHOW ME YOUR HANDS. >> NO. COME HERE NOW. >> MY KIDS are in the car. >> I Come here now. >> But first, cops respond after an 18-year-old claims his friend was accidentally shot. Take a look. >> Police. >> Hi. Hi. So, um, the body is upstairs. Um, and Okay, Mom. I'm going to let you go. >> Okay. So, it's upstairs and then um to the right. >> Gun's clear, sir. It's on the dresser. >> Where's it at? >> It's over there. I cleared it. >> Oh my god. >> No, sir. That's on by my TV. >> No, sir. Other TV behind >> 10 mm. >> All right. >> Any other guns? >> No, sir. And then I didn't know, but there was blood on my prom shoes. So I touched her blood and then and then I washed it off in the sink. >> The the box come from upstairs. >> Yeah, it was it was right next door. >> Okay. So before we get going with this homicide investigation, the crime scene, uh I want to build a good foundation in this channel amongst all of us, right? So we're going to all of us put our investigative hats on and kind of see what happens at a scene of a homicide. Okay? And I can tell you right away from experience, uh it's not really necessary to go ahead and retrieve and seize that gun from the location where it was found, right? You definitely want to keep it there, keep it pristine, and preserve that for the homicide detectives to come see the crime scene because that's that's going to be the main main crime scene is that bedroom upstairs. Okay? So, and the suspect, well, I should say is that the subject, right, the boyfriend or the friend who's given CPR told you that he cleared and you don't want to leave him alone. You want to be able to help and render that aid as well. Okay. So, just couple of things that we can fine-tune as we proceed to explain what this investigation is all about and we walk through it together. Okay. >> Where's the study at? >> Upstairs. On the right. >> Yes. >> Is it clear up there? Can they >> Yeah, it's it's clear. >> Who am I talking to? >> Okay. Go ahead and just come downstairs. >> Absolutely. All right. I was cleaning my gun. Um, it was jammed. I couldn't figure out what's wrong with it. I took the mag out. I cleared it. There's nothing there. >> I was playing it again. I put the slide off. I put it back on. As I go to like reinsert the sock back onto the clip itself, it went off. There was There was just like nothing. First thing I did was call 911. She said or she said CPR, >> all you guys. That's exactly what I did. I've done that a thousand times. I've never had it happen to that gun. I don't know what's going on. I did that. That never happened. >> There are no other weapons. >> I have no other weapons on me. >> That's not true. I'm sorry. I There's a 22 upstairs in that room, but that's fine. Okay. >> Is there anything I can do? >> Not right now. Just hang tight. >> Can you [snorts] hear me? >> All right. Um I don't know how to say this, but the guns went off. >> Yeah. >> Um friend back there, and I'm pretty sure she's pale. There was a toilet gym. There was a bullet jam in the chamber. I was cleaning it out. Um, there were two that were actually jammed. I cleared the first one out and I put the second one back on. The hammer re-engaged and it did well. Everybody in this house just a thousand times, but it's never happened. I could have done differently. >> What's that? >> I don't know what I could have done differently. I've done that a thousand times. >> [sighs] >> Man, this is just heartbreaking. There's a lot of things you could have done different, but that's besides the point. Look, right about now, I can tell you if I was a sergeant at scene, let's clear everybody out of the house and let's start taping off definitely the bedroom upstairs. And you want to create an outer perimeter in the house and you cannot allow anyone to walk in until the detectives come and start doing their investigation. Do what they do best. They have that experience. At the same time, I know I said that he's a subject, but you know what? It seems as though that he's a suspect. Why? Because he's claiming that it's accidental. Well, with accidental discharges, also comes negligence. And when you start talking about a negligent discharge of your firearm, that's actually a crime. No matter what state that's going to be. With all that being said, he's a suspect. Get him, handcuff him, right? Cuff him up, take him to the police cruiser, and just immediately take him to the uh station and put him in the uh in the interrogation room. And again, let's make sure we start getting all the resources necessary to preserve the entire house. >> This jam before, but it's never launched two bullets >> cuz before you guys before I started CPR, I cleared it just to make sure I was clear twice and two the the one round that was still fully intact came out and I set that next to the gun with the disch round and they were both finished. They were both in the gun and ever since then it's I cannot imagine I can be happy. It's why I sleep with it. I clear on safety. I have a lot almost 24/7. I'm not home with it. Just go into my biggest [ __ ] boy. >> It's also worth mentioning that these are all spontaneous statements. Right now, you got to remember that custody plus interrogation equals Miranda. At some point, you're going to have to read him his Miranda rightites. And that's when you obtain a confession, right? Or you obtain a statement. He confesses which he's doing, right? From an accidental point of view. But hey, when you take him to the station, put him in the box, you know, you start watching his behavior, his body language, you know, make him sweat a little bit cuz you want to get a very detailed story about what happened. This right here is probably not admissible in court. But hey, just wanted to let you know that. Let's let's not tell the story a couple of times. fell off just because of what I saw. But I'm going to go off and simply see that she's not >> see what >> I'm going to I'm say that she's not because of where it hit her. >> I didn't I don't know. I didn't >> Well, from what I saw, it looked like it hit her right about here. >> There was no exit mode, so it wasn't a clear shot. >> I tried CPR. I checked two or three at the time. There was no horse. [snorts] Unfortunately, or fortunately, I should say I've never had anything happen like this. How does that work about when all of this is done and through about getting Lex back? How does that work? >> Well, it's going to be a while, >> I figured, cuz it's going to have Yeah. Yeah. It'll be held as evidence until >> until everything's done. >> Yeah. I figured it would be something along the lines of that as you call house. >> How you doing, man? >> Well, took me back to my employ. >> What's that? >> Took me back in my deployment days. >> Military. >> What branch? >> Marine Corp. >> Okay. >> What's your name? >> Jacob. >> Jacob. What's your last name? Jacob. >> What happened tonight? >> Um, my gun's been having a problem the last few days been jammed. Um, so the girls were talking. >> What kind of gun? >> Uh, 10 mm. >> Okay. >> I can hear the brain at the moment. >> Um, >> but I was sitting on my floor at a point. Like I said, it's been high enough last days. So, I was continuously there twice before I opened a go. Um, everything got to leave. I've been there twice. Um, I took everything off. I inspected it. I couldn't find a problem with it. I didn't, you know, I had never been a problem with it doing it. Um, as soon as I put the slide back on and it engaged the like the hammer and the pin, there were two rounds that were stuck simultaneously like this that I didn't see. And as soon as it did, it pushed the other one out for me. >> All right. Who are you? >> Who are you? Um, >> are you guys going to want to talk to the other my other buddy that was here? He started with me. >> Was he here tonight? >> Yeah. >> When it happened? >> Yeah, he left. The only reason he why he left is because he took him back way too much. So, he was like, I I just need >> Yeah, he's going to need to come back. >> Do you guys want him to meet at the station or back here on set? station's probably fine. >> Well, >> as I told the other guy, took me back to my deployment days. Not something I ever wanted to see again. >> Your deployment days. Expound on that. >> Uh I was in the court for two years. You >> were in the Marine Corps for 2 years. >> What What uh unit were you? >> Like my MOS or >> Oh, your unit. You assigned to a unit after training? >> Yeah. So, I went to my MOS was my 2336 Delta. I went in for EOD. Um, I've been out for three and a half, four months. I'll be honest with you, everything's a little fuzzy right now. >> Okay. So, >> yeah. Um, probably didn't think you have shoes. >> I told him I said if I'm assuming you guys don't have to take me down and I would have to go upstairs, grab my shoes and socks real quick if I could, but otherwise, yeah, >> was it in that room? >> I'll grab that for you. >> So, he just informed me there was somebody here that left prior to our arrival. >> There was. So we there were three people here. It was me, her, and it was my other buddy. He served with me. Um he left. So he doesn't, you know, we saw the same he couldn't handle it. We told all our friends to leave. He's going to meet. >> Yeah. He was sitting right next to us. So I was sitting my bed was here. I was sitting here. My friend sitting over here and then right next to each other. So we >> Okay. So, just to be clear, this is probably a tactic that these investigators use where one detective walks in and says, "Hey, tell me what happened." The next detective investigator walks in and says, "Tell me what happened." And so, now you're causing the suspect to tell the story one, two, maybe three, or several different times before we actually get to the station and lock him into the box, the room to interrogate him. And again, remember, custody plus interrogation equals Miranda rightites. The Yeah, the casing struck. The female should be right next to that other round. >> And the female upstairs. What's her name? >> Simony. >> Sim. >> How do you know her? >> Perfect. >> So, she was having problems at her tonight. Asked if we could pick her up. I said, "Yeah, that's perfect." Okay. Um, >> so she can just hang out. >> Yeah. I don't know her thing. Um, they were leaving actually shortly. Um, I thought 1100 agreed to go to that place. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Is there any other information I gave you while it's still fresh in my head? >> What's that? Is there any other information I gave you while it's still fresh in my head? >> Thank you, sir. >> That work? >> No, sir. >> Okay. Was there a pair of socks in that top dresser? >> I'll be honest. >> Yeah, I got you. >> Whatever works for you guys. >> Embrace it a little bit. >> Yeah. Not the first time I've had to do it. >> Um, >> you could only ask what is that? >> Cover all our bases. I mean, it's just >> I mean, something like this happens. Obviously, we got it covered. You know, it's everything and anything, you know. >> Is there anywhere blood anywhere else on you at all? >> Uh, there was some on my foot, but that got cleaned off. That was >> You cleaned that off on your foot? Yeah. Which foot was it? >> My right foot. >> Right foot. >> There were like literally three small dots. I think it was just because from when I went over her and I pulled her off the bed because that's what she asked me to do to give her CPR. >> Um I think when I pulled her off and it just flipped over. >> Okay. >> I don't know if it was we we've been having the problems. So like if you look on the spring itself, there's either like rust or some sort of like orange paint or something on the top of the spring towards where the actual tip of the barrel is. I don't that was a problem. I don't know if it was just sticky and it got washed in there photos >> cuz my buddy who's like was like chamber one before >> I thousand times. >> Well yeah I mean you know I said you've been in the Marine Corps so you know you know first thing about firearm safety and handling. >> You would think I would know damn everything about it. >> Let's talk about firearm safety. Look, I can tell you from day one in the academy when we get to tactics, actually when we get into firearms to qualify, they always told us the four gun safety rules. To this very day, we still know them, you know, and it's stuck in my head. And you should know this, right? Uh rule number one, all guns are always loaded. Okay, that's number one. Number two, never allow the muzzle to cover something you're not willing to destroy. That is kind of hard to remember to this very day. You need to remember that. I can speak for all my LAPD colleagues. Rule number three, keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are aligned on target and you intend to shoot. And last but not least, rule number four, be sure of your target. >> Did you see this? >> It happened for [snorts] photos. >> That's That's what's there. >> Okay. Was that down here when No, she >> It was by the bed and I grabbed it because it was underneath or [snorts] like my purse was on top of it. So, I grabbed both of them because it's my prom shoes. Okay. All right. You want >> plus side is my car should be toasty from sitting here for a while. >> So, my wonder colder than the Polar Express itself. Now, before they actually get to the station, it's also worth noting, and I was thinking about this, is that, you know, in my other channel, uh, I have these, uh, videos where they do traffic stops, and the first thing they do is they call an attorney. I want you to I want my attorney. I want my attorney present. Well, I'm here to tell you that this is one of those situations where, Jacob, somebody go ahead and call your attorney because I'm going to tell you right now, your attorney would have told you, don't say anything. Let the detectives investigate. And if they decide to charge you with a crime, that's when the uh criminal proceedings begin. Just a thought. >> Not not a lot of room. So, >> like I said, grandma's cop. I'm used to being in the back. >> I think that's what it could have been cuz I I've never made a mistake with a weapon. I was raised so heavily on gun safety. And what I don't understand is because when I cleared it, I had on the floor and as soon as I turned it around, I heard click. Boom. It was that simple. Hand wasn't even on the trigger. I had on the side of the >> Yeah. >> Never put my hand on the trigger just in case. I'm just I'm I'm not even like I'm still grasping the fact that she got shot. Yeah. But I'm grasping the fact of the how because I've never That's not true. I think I have once or twice, but I've never seen, you know, a pistol like that chambered two rounds, >> you know, between the blood on the floor and my sheets and everything. How's that going to work? Like, do I get to go back home? Do they clean that out? How does that work? >> They're probably going to be processing that, I would imagine, until tomorrow. So, very likely, I don't know what it would be, but you're going to catch some kind of charge because some somebody died. So, Yeah. Do you know roughly what it would be or do I have any idea? >> I'd have to I tell you what though, the one thing I heard >> Well, I can tell you in the state of California, they call it criminal negligence, involuntary manslaughter, something along those line where you acted recklessly. And by the way, no, you can't go back home in your room. That is the main crime scene. As a matter of fact, the entire house is your actual crime scene. And again, start that crime scene log to make sure that everybody that comes in and out of that crime scene is super important to keep it pristine, right? To make sure uh that you're not going to contaminate any type of evidence, which we'll cover later. We already did by removing the gun. It's just something that uh perhaps should not have been done. Just a thought. >> Worst about this case is the fact that she was still young. >> That's what was she 17? >> 15. I don't know what hurts more, the fact that she was so young and the accident happened, seeing it and reliving it, or the fact of how her parents are going to react. And my uh her her best friend made a joke. And she was like, I really don't know how to react. I'm just going to use humor. I said, why? She was like, well, cuz she is she doesn't have to go for that shift. She didn't want to go into I'm just like that's really too soon. Too way too soon. >> Yeah, that that's where you learned in basic training. [laughter] >> See, as much as about the situation that I want to laugh just because I use laughter to cure, you know, cure that. That's just what I do. Like humor is my way to solve a lot of my problems. I'm just kind of like on this situation. I don't want I want to because I know it'll make me feel a little better, but it's kind of dumb cuz I'm just like that's not something I really want cuz it's like one specific part that's continuously replayed. >> Mhm. It's like the only part which is the fact that like you know as soon as I put the slide cuz like the way it is you had to like pull the slide back and then lock it to then you know flip the switch back up to it close it and it was as soon as I pulled it back because the way that is because it likes to get stuck right before you can like truly lock it. So I like like threw it back into it and as soon as it just hit it was just enough pressure. try to understand how but I was sitting kind of like this right and she was laying on my bed. She was kind of laying like if you were to lay like that with your head towards me cuz she was like laying on the side of my bed watching TV. We all were actually we were watching pit chases >> and um you know clean my gun and I like throw it back at >> you know this is a moment where you call a timeout and just you know what let's not even talk about what happened. Yeah, let's go ahead and build a rapport, get to know you a little bit. But in terms of the details as to your story, what happened? I I wouldn't do that. That that's just me. Uh with that being said, and again, the video doesn't depict whether or not just keep him in the room all by himself. Lock that door and just let him sit there. uh you know turn the the temperature down a little bit and just see how he has this body language, his demeanor, his disposition about this whole incident, if he gets emotional or not. Those are just kind of like basic tactics uh while investigating a homicide case. So >> do it. And as soon as I did, my the like my hand pushed it up and as soon as it did, it just was enough to discharge it. And I immediately heard it and I looked over cuz I thought, you know, I put in my bed. I was like, "Okay, scary, terrifying. Put a run through the wall, put through the bed. Nobody gets hurt. I would rather that happened." So, an accident, big deal. And then the moment I look over, it's just I'm just like around, get everybody out, call the cops. That was the first thing I did. And uh my friend was like, "Call the cops. Call the cops. Call the cops." And I'm just like, "I got to find my phone. I have to find my phone to call the cops." >> Yeah. >> And um my girlfriend, she was just like, "Um um um" I was like, "You you need to get out." She was like, "Why?" And I was like, "Because this will literally traumatize you." She was like, "What about you?" I said, "I've seen worse." Literally, I I promise you, I've seen worse this as much as it hurts to do as much as this is going to hurt to do like to do the CP everything to pull her off. I said, "I I have to do this because he can't. You won't. And I'm not waiting for the parabax to be here. I swear I could like sit here for hours and just be like, "What about this? What about this?" You know, cuz my buddy was like, "Well, hey, you want to go do something?" I was like, "No, no, I just want to stay home." I was like, "What if I said yes?" you know, or or something. Or what if I wouldn't have said yes to picking her up or, you know, I think one thing that hurts me the most was that I told her she was going to be safe at my house. I said nothing's going to happen. You're safe at my house. >> Yeah. That's one of those things that'll be stuck in your head for a bit. >> I don't think I'm going to have people around that. >> Oh, yeah. Okay. Face back. Hands behind your back. >> Put your palms together. Palms together. Can you tell me was that? All right. Not too tight. It's perfectly fine, sir. You mind? >> Yep. You're being transported. What? that I'm not sure you'll find out that I was not pres. >> Okay. When we wrap this case up, we're going to look at do we need to render the gun safe and move it from its original location where it was found and we seized it. Okay, it's very very important. I covered that a little bit earlier. And the other thing is, should officers remove the friend, the suspect, right, from the scene immediately and take him to the police station and begin the interrogation process. Remember, custody plus interrogation equals Miranda warnings. All right. Anyhow, we'll cover this all in the wrap-up, but first, cops respond after two people are shot during a custody exchange. >> Big tail. Go with it. >> What do you need, Ken? line. Let's take ketamine and walk on the road 41 north. >> And who shot you? >> Amanda Jensen. >> Amanda who? >> Jensen. >> Amanda Jensen. Why'd she shoot you? >> Huh? >> Why' she shoot you? >> Picking up my daughter. >> You're picking up a dollar order. >> Okay. >> All right. Look, those paramedics get on. SHOW ME YOUR HANDS. >> SHOW ME YOUR HANDS. [screaming] >> SHOW ME YOUR HANDS. GET OUT OF THE [screaming] CAR. HEY, WATCH YOUR CROSSFIRE. SHOW ME YOUR HANDS. >> SHOW ME YOUR HANDS. HANDS UP [screaming] NOW. >> Come here, dude. If you reach FOR IT, I SWEAR TO GOD, I WILL SHOOT YOU. GIVE ME A HUG. >> SHOW ME YOUR GET OUT OF THE [screaming] CAR NOW. >> I'm going to give you a hug. >> NO. COME HERE NOW. >> MY KIDS ARE IN THE CAR. >> I Come here now. >> She's not complying to our orders right now. She's wanted to give her kids a hug. >> Come here now. Get on the ground. >> You got >> Hey, there's kid. There's small kids in the car. >> Do not move. >> Do not move. >> I swear to God. >> Drivers out, >> man. It's gut-wrenching. Look, uh, if you didn't hear me on the first video, I'll tell you right now, we're going to build a foundation and we're going to proceed by all of us learning together how to walk through a scene of of a homicide, right? Or of an attempt murder. As you can see, you got a someone who's dead. You have an attempt murder. Uh, you got this custody exchange. I can tell you just an experience alone, crimes of passion are of utmost uh emotions are flying high and it's just chaotic, especially with kids. So, let's kind of walk to So, let's kind of walk this So, let's kind of walk through this together as we proceed uh with the scene of a homicide. Okay. >> Throne down right now. >> Ma'am, draw this way. Keep crawling. >> Come on. Come on. We'll get to the bottom of it. Hold on. I got ammo in my pocket. My armor. All right. Do you have anything on? Any guns? >> Only had one. >> Come this way. Sit up. >> How old are these kids? How old are your kids? >> 11 months. Four. >> 11 months. Four. How many more in there? There's two. >> Seven. >> Seven. >> 17. 10. 14. We put her in your car. >> Good job. >> Keeping up with it. You could have left and this all wouldn't have been solved. So, I know that's stressful as hell, but right now, right here, everyone's okay. The kids are okay. I like that. >> Okay, like I said before, let's get yellow tape and preserve this crime scene. So, as you can see from the video, uh let's go ahead and put uh crime scene tape around the parking lot. That'll be your inner perimeter. Get an officer and start a crime scene log. And then what you want to do is you want to create an outer perimeter so that you don't let anybody in whatsoever and throw that wide net, right? Cast it very wide. And again, it's to preserve and to keep the scene pristine. You don't want to contaminate it whatsoever. We got a very evolving scene, but I've got a double shooting >> uh in a pursuit. Uh the the car has been stopped up at Ela. Shooting's at Walgreens 13th and 39th. >> Um one of the it's a male female that have been shot. The male was just loaded up. I don't know his condition. The female that been given the suppressions to on the ground here in front of her car for the last 10 minutes. So >> the radio traffic about something about she she called the whoever's in the other car called in and said something was a custody >> said she wasn't going to turn over a kid to a >> we don't know what >> but that's what he said he he said before he left she shot me during a custody exchange. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Amanda Jensen is who he said >> they were doing a child they were supposed to be doing a court ordered child exchange here in the parking lot. I'm on the junction chopper >> by the damn thing. >> Okay. So, what happened? >> Well, we were I was getting ready to go to the bathroom inside. And when I did, this guy that works here, there was another guy standing here. And all of a sudden, I heard how this guy went out, looked down there, and he grabbed hold of the guard and he flew him inside. And I said, "Somebody's getting shot." >> Amanda, hop out for me. >> I'm going to fix you. Okay. You have something you got to poke me. >> Are you sure? >> You have cameras in front of >> I don't. We >> I got a body. >> Yeah, >> we have body cameras. Our cars don't have cameras. >> Where where was the right >> jacking? >> I looked over at I said they're shooting me five shots at weeks. >> Okay. And you were you were you inside? I was going in to go to the bathroom and I didn't even get out. >> You ran back in the truck. >> I said, "Somebody's getting shot." Which one? >> I hear pop. I was like, "What was that?" >> Did something. Looked over and I see smoke, gunshots. Hear more shots. I go over to the CVS or Walgreens, whatever it is, right there on the north northwest corner. See a guy bleeding. He's pointing at the car. It was right next to his car. >> All right. >> It was on from there >> because he went pow pow like he had like he had hit each one of them and then all you heard was pow pow pow. So he had already shot them both at that. >> You didn't see anything though. You heard? >> No. But as soon as I come around here and I went over there, of course the cop was mad and I told him I said I want to pray for her. I said cuz I know she's dying. And there was blood all over the >> Do you have your ID on your head? >> Wait over here. >> Yeah. >> You and Are they dead? >> What? >> Are they dead? >> Let's go. >> Well, we're in a city for a GPD case, but it's fresher pursuit. So, >> yeah. >> The suspect asked twice, "Are they dead? Are they dead?" You know what? Don't give her the satisfaction to know what happened or the outcome. Just It's just better if you don't even talk about what has happened, what occurred, right? Don't tell your story. Again, you're in custody. You're going to be interrogated, which means that we have to give you your Miranda warnings. >> Yeah, we're good to take her. >> Yeah, you can put her right back in. >> Spontaneously stated just now. >> No, I didn't. >> Are they dead? >> Mag. >> Where where was the second mag at? >> Right. >> I'm assuming no. just or they did. >> Um, >> yeah. >> Holy Christmas god. >> Let me interject right here just to give you some thoughts. And where's my lawyers out there to help me, my criminal defense lawyers? Maybe I can call my brother. My brother's been a criminal defense lawyer for decades now, like 15 something years. Uh what I like to do, what I like to ask is are spontaneous statements uh admissible uh before the courts, right? Uh that's just something that I would definitely like to know. And do you compare the spontaneous statements with the actual interrogation if this suspect confessed or not? You let me know >> up there. >> Up there at channel 2. >> I was in here buying a couple of things, last minute food things for my parents for Christmas tonight and somebody came in saying they're shooting outside. So me and drop our we run outside. Luckily I'm packing. White carb flies by me. Jesse I guess was behind my foot and sees the ground saying. So we got five kids and and the hierarchs are saying that's let's have two car seats. five >> and see if we can turn over >> the way he was going almost like he was following them and they pulled right in that last parking lot to hide and he saw him and then come around that turn and it was just bam bam bam bam and it was over. >> So I think that he already was followed them before he even got here. >> It had to be a drug deal. >> Let me let me let me get that information for you. That guy said that he heard three shots while he was standing at the register. Initially said, "Gosh, was that a car that backfired, came to the front door, saw the car leaving, cop chasing them. Um, looked over here at the female was still out of the car. The female was on the ground. The man was standing up. She he saw her shoot two more times. She doesn't know if both shots hit him or not, but he went down and he said all I could hear was him saying, "I'm just trying to get my kid." >> Like if she gives permission says, "I will release my kids too." >> I'm just dropping. >> So, ma'am, who would you give permission to give turn your kids over to today? >> If it had to be safe, >> Gotcha. Do you have a family member specifically that we would like to turn it over to? Uh >> like where you were heading somewhere who who are you heading to so that I can you know because you got five children. I only have two car seats. I want to make sure that they're safe. You know my part of is to try to make sure they're safe and going to a family member that you you support. >> Very crucial decision to make whether or not to release the kids to a family member considering that not all five but some of those kids are precipient witnesses to a murder, right? To a homicide. So, you got to remember that and maybe perhaps releasing them to a family member uh with all the emotions flying high. I can only imagine uh what these kids have to live through uh for the rest of their lives. So, just something to think about. >> Suspect vehicle pulls up with a bag of chips are probably the woman was in the passenger seat, but she gets out starts cowering behind somehow winds up back in the car. You see the shoot the female shooter come over to the passenger side. Pew, pew, pew. Reaches into the car. Pew as she's doing it. Teenage kid comes out of the car and like trying to get her to and the kid's like, "Oh my god, >> that's ridiculous. >> Horrible." >> In front of for your own kids. You're worried about giving them back to a supposed but you're ready to kill them in front of him. Come on. >> Before we get out of this car, we're not going to have any issues, right? All right. Do you have anything on you that was missed in the search? >> No. >> Walk right up to this part. >> Probably one of the worst I've ever seen. >> Anytime. >> Dumbfounded. >> Yep. >> But not in horse. >> Yeah. >> Dumbfounded but not. It's just so devastating to know that you can carry out such a heinous violent act in front of your children. It's just, you know, cops deal with this trauma. And I say this a lot where you know what, we respond to a crisis. That's that's the business that we're in. And the trauma just keeps building and building and building. Besides some paper towels to wipe your nose, do you need anything else? What happened chips? >> How many spent? >> I got one, two, >> three, four, five. >> Five. Okay. Well, that matches what one of the witnesses say. That's what cuz until I saw that one there, I was like the spit casings aren't adding up >> cuz the witness said that well a witness she was coming out and heard five shots. She said >> there you go. >> And she's like it sounds like it came from a Glock. >> I mean those look like >> boy old boy that was with her was was doing this right here holding his jacket and he's like hands me concealed carry. He was like, "Couldn't grab it fast enough." And I was like, >> "Hey, man. Good on you for for having it >> with me." He me on me. I thought he was a killed my child from him. I just couldn't take it no more. I'm so sorry. [laughter] I didn't mean to put you through this. [clears throat] >> I I hear you. And um like I said, I'm not asking you any questions. I don't know what's going on. Okay. But your kids, your kids are safe, okay? None of them are injured. They're with officers and detectives. Okay? So, they're safe. And if anything in [clears throat] relation to your kids, if I find anything else out, I'll let you know. Okay? >> And then and then walk back. She didn't shoot isn't video. The video catches everything from like here over. >> Okay. So, nothing over here. So, didn't catch anything over here, but you I mean, clear as day, you see. >> I mean, realistically, that's that's the one that died. So, that's perfect. He can fill in the blanks if he lives. And just another point of view would also be as you can see in the video it depicts across the street uh you do have other businesses where you want to canvas the area and try to get as many statements or any evidence specifically video surveillance that would probably depict again just like the SAR said maybe the other side of or the different angle of the driver uh the driver's side you know it's something to think about something to do and Again, the video doesn't depict whether they did that or not, but of course, you want to canvas the entire area to get as much evidence as possible, right? No stone goes unturned. >> You said, >> right? >> Um, so I guess you want to see a rundown of >> there's a court order. >> Court order Christmas Day 5050 custody. >> Mhm. >> 50% 5050 time. Okay. Yeah. At Walgreens. >> Why? >> She was at CVS for some strange reason. >> Okay. How do you know she was at CVS? >> Because we looking at her. >> Oh, y'all looking at her. Okay. >> Um, so we pulled over there and she got behind us and give her a Uturn, but we saw her. She was griefing. That's why we took out on the road, but she came out and came behind us. So we turn to BCS where she pulled up like a couple car spots down. >> Mhm. >> And so my home girl who was driving pulled beside her and then she was back no and went around to like the drive field the pharmacy and came back. >> Mhm. >> And I stood out the car for about a good 2 minutes like wondering what was going on. And then she finally pulled up >> Mhm. and got out the car and asked who was in the car and I was like my ride. >> And she was like, "Who was in the car?" And she kept walking up and then she seen what it was and then she was pulled by the gun out real bad. And looked like it shot my friend in the head. So I jumped back for the passenger side and seeing that she was coming on my side. So I tried to I went through the passenger side through the back door. >> I'm trying to think of which was the first shot because the the second and third shot was my back when I was in the car and the third shot was in my leg. Okay. >> So, I guess when I was standing outside the car, that's when she first shot me. >> Okay. >> That's the arm. >> Okay. >> That's when I dumped in the car in the in the back and tried to scramble through >> and she was shooting saying you you made this happen. >> You made this happen. >> Why would she do something like this with the baby? >> She just she thought that we was a [ __ ] She I'm She read text messages because I tell my best friend I love her and I do. >> Of course. Of course. Your best friend. >> She don't understand a woman and a man >> being friends. [clears throat] >> Wow. >> I'm so sorry. >> I'm sure you are well aware of what's going on. You do me a favor. Go ahead and turn stand up. Turn around. I have some water real quick. >> Yep. You can go ahead and grab one more sip of water real quick. All right, turn around for me. Do me a favor. Pull your sleeves up. >> You might You might actually toss him in the house or you >> Yep. Pull your sleeves up. Turn around for me and keep small wrist. There we go. Almost that one. There we go. That's good. >> All right. Just do me a favor and don't be stupid. Okay. >> All right. >> What am I being charged with? >> Okay. So, as we wrap up this particular case, the biggest question of them all is, and you can help me out with this, is do we release the kids to a family member because they are recipient witnesses or do we call Department of Children Family Services, Protective Services, and make sure that they are safe. Right. and protected. Let me know what you think. Okay. Now, as far as the uh first case to wrap that up, uh my thinking is is that we should definitely uh time is of the essence, meaning let's just go ahead and immediately let the suspect know because he self admitted what happened right as the police arrived uh to get into the station and begin the interrogation process. Okay? Again, always remember, custody plus interrogation equals Miranda warnings. Okay? So, Jacob was charged with the following: reckless homicide, having a weapon while under disability, improper handling firearms in a vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, failure to comply with underage alcohol laws, and last but not least, possession of indecent images. Those images were captured after the police conducted a search of his cell phone. As a result of these charges, he was ultimately sentenced to more than 11 years in prison. Amanda was charged with the following: secondderee murder, attempted murder, five counts of child neglect, and fleeing law enforcement. As a result of these charges, she was ultimately sentenced to life in prison for the murder charge and an additional 30 years for the remaining charges.
