This stolen car suspect is willing to kill to avoid an arrest and officers have to track him down deep into the woodline. >> Hey, can you come here? >> I didn't talk to you guys. Come here. >> You about to go signal lady. One went in the wood line back to the fence. >> Got fresh footprints right there. K96 to her. He's running UP THE RIVER. >> GOT FIRE. >> GOT A DOG DOWN. >> Gang officers find a stolen car at a hotel. Two people run and the chase goes into the trees and into the woods. Take a look. >> Suspect male is wearing a black hoodie, hood up, jeans, and then a female hoodie. They're coming out of the room right now. >> Hey, can you come here? I need to talk to you guys. You right here. I need to talk to you. Come here. This car. Come here. You about to go signal lady back towards the front of Indian road. Stop. Police stop. STOP. STOP. PLEASE STOP. 572 radio. One female dressed in all black heading towards the front. One went in the wood line back of the fence. You can get a unit in the McDonald's parking lot. There's a trail that leads into the McDonald's parking lot in the QT. It's a black male jeans, black hoodie. I believe red underwear. You got a backpack little purse thing on. Ready? You can send 1039 for now. Hey, come here. >> Come here. >> How do you know then? >> What? >> You got his number? >> Yeah, you do. >> Now, how do you how do they know to contact you? >> 471. >> They don't know. >> Okay. Well, I need your ID. >> I don't have an ID. >> Okay. >> 171. >> What? >> I have nothing. >> Yeah, you do. You're affiliated with him right now. You're being detained. >> I just pulled up with that guy and >> you went you came out of the room with him. Yeah, cuz he asked me for for a cigarette and a lighter and I know him. I see him outside. >> Okay, so what's his name? >> I don't know him. >> You don't know him? All right, let me get your name. >> Let me get your name. >> My name is >> What is it? I >> have nothing to do with >> Yes, you do. Stop. Right now you're being detained. Yes, you're being detained right now >> cuz in relation to a stolen vehicle. >> Yeah, I'm I didn't even get out of that car. There are cameras right here that saw me get out of a black charger right there. Sir, >> what? >> There's cameras right now that just saw me get out of a black charger. right now. I don't even know this car and was not >> pin this car in. Pin the car in. Put your hood in front of us. >> Were even around this car. Did not get in the car. Did not even get out the car. >> Okay. I need your name though. I need your name. >> He ran that way. Female ran that way. They were in your room doing something. Okay. So, you you obviously know them. You're obviously affiliated with what's going on. >> I totally agree with the officer, the deputy. you know, this uh particular possible suspect involved in this stolen vehicle investigation, you have reasonable suspicion to believe that this affiliation ties him into a criminal act or crime is a foot, if you will. Okay? So, let's just go ahead and cuff him up immediately. Stop talking around. Get him in the back of the police cruiser. Run him for wants and warrants. You got to get his name. At the very least, he has to identify himself and then go from there. Right? After doing all that, let's focus our attention on the suspect that fled uh and is in the woods. >> Okay. >> So, all I did is pulled up. I literally just pulled up. >> County police, come down the woods with the sound of my voice. You're under arrest. We have a trained police kine. He will find you. He will bite you. Do it now. The dog won't be sent. >> He's saying he jumped the fence about that tree there to about right here. He's tired, baby. >> A BU. What's your last name? >> What? >> I don't got nothing else. >> You don't have a last name. >> Look, I stay here. You can come and find me. Come ask me anything. >> You're staying at 135? >> You're staying at 135? >> Unless you're going to I don't have nothing for you, sir. >> I'm not breaking no laws right now. Correct. But you're affiliated with a stolen vehicle. >> Affiliated with no stolen vehicle. >> You're associating with the people that were in a stolen vehicle. >> I just got out of a whole another car. Unless you can prove to me that I I'm 100% associated with them. >> You are. You came I saw with my eyes you came out of that room with them. >> Yeah, I know. They I did because they cigarettes and and a lighter. I did not I don't got nothing to do with that car. You didn't see me walk out that car. I didn't get in that car. I literally just came from literally >> All right. Well, you're detained. You're not free to leave. So friends back here. >> Yeah. Footprint here. So y'all can walk with me to go see these people security cameras and I can verify everything I said is 100% correct. Okay. But you're not listening to me. The simple the simple reason you're being detained is >> why you looking at me? I already gave you the same spiel. >> Into your room >> and they come out of your room. >> You're saying you don't know them, but I don't know that at this particular point. >> So what do we do about it? >> I need to see your ID. >> I don't have an ID on. >> Okay. Well, what's your name and date of birth? >> I just gave them the information. I I have >> Okay. So, what's your name? >> How do you spell your first name? >> I don't have nothing. I I have the right to arrest. >> Listen, listen, listen, listen. You don't. As far as giving me your name, you don't. If you choose not to give me your name, you're going to be arrested for obstruction and in an investigation. Okay. Do you really want to go down that road for something this silly? >> Okay. So, again, this house is asking you for his name. He's demanding your name. At this particular point, you have to provide that. If you choose not to provide that, you are going to go to jail. Do I make myself clear? Do you understand that? Okay. So, he's going to ask you one more time. What's your name and date of birth? If you choose not to give him that, I am personally putting you in handcuffs and you were going to jail. You understand that? >> I like the command presence. I like the fact that, hey, you know what? Give us your name and you're good to go. Cuz here's the deal. If we run him for wants a warrant and he's clear, then there's a strong possibility that they're just going to let him go, right? Or maybe he is involved in the stolen vehicle investigation. Just saying we had footprints in the uh mud down in the swamp. K960 units. If you do see him, there's a good possibility he's going to be wet. Those footprints look like they went this way. >> That's going to be deep. >> Little shallow right there. It looks like a little shallower. >> Small dry set of boots, >> huh? >> Only dry set of boots. >> I know. >> God dang it. >> Give him your name and date of birth. Okay. What's your first name? >> A B E D I B A L I >> A B D I >> D A L I >> D N >> D A L I A B D I G A L >> can't have six ter. We still have a good track across the river over here. Be heading direction. Here we >> got fresh footprints right there. Yeah, we're on it. 601. We got more footprints. Be headed back parallel to Oakrook Drive uh to the businesses back there. >> Okay. Get down. >> Can you mind taking them? You mind taking them? Okay, we're going to read you something and then we're going to talk about actually what happened today cuz I do believe that you know with these people. That's the whole reason why we came to talk to you. >> You have a warrant for conspiracy to commit robbery or something like that. >> What? >> There you go. Which is the reason why he decided not to give his name, right? I mean, come on, man. your affiliation is pretty solid right about now with the outstanding suspects in the woods. Uh which by the way, just wanted to bring up the fact that this is a multi-jurisdictional, multi-functional operation, as you can see. We're going to track him down, but what we don't know about the suspect is if he is armed uh with any types of weapon, even a gun, whatever the case may be. So, we definitely want to be cautious as we approach uh to apprehend the suspect. >> Here's that ours. >> Yeah. Yeah. There on the hill red 6572 confirming you said he had a red bandana on where we located that pushing this way footprint here. >> Yeah, you can see where he broke through right all through there. Seems like you knew it, but >> what room did you come out of? >> 135. >> It was >> I'm sorry. >> Listen, Mr. Mohammed. >> Mr. Muhammad, listen to me. Stop telling us how to do our job. We are very capable of doing this. I don't have nothing. >> You're very capable of doing this. I don't know what to do. >> You going to arrest me for that, sir? >> Yes. What? >> You're going to arrest me for that vehicle, sir? >> For what? >> You're going to arrest me for that vehicle? the vehicle? >> No, I'm trying to determine what you know about the vehicle. That's the whole reason why we need your name and date of birth. So later on, detectives can follow up with you and ask what happened. >> You have a warrant out for arrest. >> Nationwide extradition. >> Yeah, I got his bag right up here. >> Okay. Got him. Get him on. Yes. >> Hold on. Hold on. >> You got a dump don't touch. Okay. Can I get my jacket? Can I bring my property? My phone. >> Yes, I'll grab all that. But you're going to walk this way. What? >> He's not rel he's related, but not one of the dudes that ran. I >> haven't had anything on this side. So, I bet you did. >> I'm going back to casting that way. >> Whose shoe? >> Not ours. [laughter] >> That's his shoe. We probably need to go left. >> Y. >> I would also like to point out that you do have some other resources and tools, if any, I should say. Uh whether it's going to be drones, right? Drones are a very very good uh resource to be able to give you that bird's eye view and and be able to track him down even faster because it seems to me like he's going to be found. I mean, they're going to catch him. Uh and also uh the airship, right? Helicopter always helps. you know, they're going to be orbiting and pretty much kind of coordinating and orchestrating where officers should be placing themselves, especially if they actually see the suspect. They're able to kind of coordinate efforts at the best and most safest approach uh to apprehend the suspect. >> Fresh. It's got to be his. >> I'm pretty sure he pulled out a key a key card. He did right here. Okay. Not saying the keys to this car. >> The keys to the car or the dude that ran cuz they so they they were sitting back then. They saw me come in and they D and go to the to the room. Yeah. And so I was like that's weird. So I ran the tag. It came back 1s and then that's whenever I'm starting giving off radio traffic and they're coming out of the room and then I start to try and get them right here and he they him and the female just take off unlock. They're calling drive 128. 572 right here. >> 572. >> Can you confirm the 1s >> last six of the VIN are he's not with the vehicle fair condition. Now, from an investigative lens, uh, another process you should do is maybe go ahead and dust it, right? Dust it for prints because you may be able to lift some prints that may be belong to or can identify the actual suspect that they have in custody, right? For now, could be >> right. Dang, I'm not used to this many people clearing. >> Yeah, it's nice having resources, right? >> Guy they got at the room that they were in. >> Uh is you guys heard all that or no? He was the one at the homeay that got shot in that was hiding in there the whole time. You remember that last year? >> Okay. >> So, he wants to give information on the homicide cuz he know we're about to 17 at his room. He knows he's probably get >> he is a major dealer obviously. >> But he's saying that he doesn't know this guy. He just let him in the room because he asked for a cigarette. >> Yeah. We got the red hat, the we had the bag first and the red hat. Crossed the right before we came out of the woods. >> Yeah. >> Up here. Found the shoe. Um, we couldn't have been far behind him cuz we could hear the We heard some limbs breaking, but we were just in mud that went up to here like trying to get through it. So, he has to be >> He's got to be covered in mud that >> Well, yeah, but I'm saying I think he's he's hiding in a vehicle or a dumpster or back of a truck in here. He's got to be in mud. Did >> you see mud coming out on the uh No. I got I got three pairs. I'll switch out. >> I know for a fact just on experience alone that that suspect that's detained right now in custody definitely definitely knows the outstanding suspect. I don't want that. Water is for winners. This really came up. Okay. Push. Hey, Lacy. I got her footprints right here. We're back on. Okay, when you come out of these woods and take a right, we're going back to the other street parallel to that road away from the school. Got that long grass, right? Yeah. Okay. Hey, just here we have contact. There he goes. There he goes. He's going to the right web. >> Hey, he's got something in his hand. He got something in his hand. He's running behind him. Cannot stick to A1. He's running up the river. Uh back towards the in town. Hey, watch. He had something in his hand. This way, web. No, here. Off. Off. Here. Woo. Here. 601. He was running along the way from Indian Trail. Uh, just make sure he doesn't get on back on Oakville Parkway. 96. Still be shirtless. But, uh, right along here. Oh, we got to be I want to get a good perimeter on this wood line in between the hotel and over driving. SHOTS FIRED. [ __ ] Shots fired. Blue. Blue buddy. Here. See your hands. HEY, LET ME SEE YOUR HANDS. >> He's hit, bro. >> See your hands? Hey, let me see your hands. Let me see your hands. >> I got him. >> You see your hand? >> Glad to get I got a dog down. >> Hey, whip. Drag him out. >> DRAGGING THE DOG OUT. >> He's still grabbing on to something. Look out. >> Yeah, you're good, dude. Drag him. Watch him. Hold on. I got him. I got it. Police. Take this [ __ ] off. >> SWAT 30 to all units. We have a K9 shot. The in town sweeps where we went under the fence at. I'm looking at uniform officers. Give me one down here to help carry the dog out. We also have a male shot. That's going to be the suspect. Oh [gasps] god, this is um you know, I've watched this [cough and clears throat] several times and it's u it it's really really difficult to watch. Um knowing that um you know, you got K9 Blue down or any officer down for that matter. Uh and and I just want to be clear that, you know, any loss of life is a tragedy and it's devastating itself. Okay, so just know that it's hard to watch. you know, from a 24 year veteran with the Los Angeles Police Department. I've been to one too many funerals and um you know, let's let's rescue him and see if we can uh keep him alive. >> Yeah, I'm good. >> All right. Watch the gun shot. >> I got his right hand is clutching something. I can't tell what it is, though. >> You're right, bud. >> K9 shot. >> Don't move, man. You got chest. Yeah. >> Buddy status on >> not breathing, not alert. >> Hang in there, Blue. You're good, buddy. >> This is status on breathing, not alert. >> Hey, Lacy's going to have one through his head. Several several chest shots. >> Lost breath. >> Lacy, I lost breath. >> The exit's on his back right here. what he's doing. Hey, man. There you go. Breathe, dude. >> Breathe, dude. There you go. Keep breathing, man. Keep breathing. >> We're going to fight through it, but I lost them. >> Let me know. >> He's up. >> Yeah. Stay >> with me, boss. >> We're going to get you to the ambulance. All right, buddy. >> Just watch him cuz I'm about to shove this in his mouth. We're getting the dog up to the parking lot. The suspect's over there. Hang in there, man. You're a good boy. You did it, buddy. Saved my life. Saved my life, bud. >> Clear this place out. >> Blackburn, get all those people out of there. >> Hey, dude. Keep breathing, man. His face was in the back of his head. Like the back of his head. Can't tell. >> Hey, keep breathing, dude. Hey, brother. >> Keep breathing. >> Can you do Who has a >> how to do chest compression on his dog? He's still taking breaths. >> Yeah. All right, go for it. I got I got the wound. >> Hey, hold that wound in his neck. The exit neck. >> Oh, I got it. I got it. >> We have new compressions. You put that back on there. Hold >> it. Got it. >> Hey, man. You got a Can you hear me? You hear me? >> All right, they got it. >> Go. You ready? >> We're going to get this guy up next. >> We're going to need a stretcher. >> We need a stretcher. >> Web in again. We're coming out. >> Yeah. Let me stop right there. You need as many resources as possible. All hands are on deck. The fact that we're all working together to extract a suspect, to extract K9, that's what's needed, right? There's no time. Time is of the essence with the dog. Are you ready? Hang in there, BUD. HANG IN THERE, BUD. >> Leave his handcuffs. We're good. Where's >> We'll get one on the way. Just start walking him up towards that hill. >> Hey, the gun right there. >> Get his feet. >> Come on. >> Come on, guys. Get his feet. Let's go. Carry him just like you would. There you go. Go. Move this car. Move this car. This car needs to go. Whoever this one is, that's unlocked. Move it. Move these cars. Move them all. Good job. pressure. Let's go >> up this way, guys. Your hands back. >> Yeah, I got to grab them. My hands are way too slick, dude. I got just drag them out, guys. Yeah. >> Somebody with a gun. >> What's up? >> Somebody with his uniform. >> I got it. You got to take him under. Get under there and pull him under. Hey, follow the four. Give me the arm. Hey, will you set him down the concrete? Tell the four to come to the back. Okay. Hey, you set him down on the concrete. Tell the four to come to the back. Okay. Stop on it, sir. Right there. Stop. All right, let's go. >> All the way over there. Okay. Can you go grab Were you back there when this all happened or anything like that? >> No, I heard shots. I ran out. >> Okay. >> Are you able you ran back there to help you get the dog out and stuff? >> No, I helped grab him out. >> I don't know where exactly where it is. Hang out right here. What do you do? >> Uh 1s vehicle one uh ran from us. I guess he tried to shoot. He shot out a K9 dog >> and right and they shot him back. >> Wash his hands up. Okay. Just in terms of process and procedures management of an OIS, you definitely want to make uh where the suspect was shot, right? And K9 Blue is the main main crime scene. Well, you're going to have a couple of crime scenes, right? But that right there, you got to tape it all off. You're going to conduct a very very thorough investigation. Uh it's going to take a lot of resources to do so. And there's a lot of witnesses as you can see at this apartment. I think it's a hotel in it itself. You don't know who saw, who watched, who heard. Get as much evidence as possible and at the same time set the CP not too far from the actual scene. And that command post is where you start coordinating efforts and formulating plans as to uh how to manage this entire scene post OIS. Okay. He was brea he stopped breathing. We I passed the entrance and web pack to exit. We were putting the muzzle on him. He started gasping. Then he was out again. And we were running back. He was gasping again. >> You can give me the address to the vets's office. >> You mind helping out real quick? Yeah, let's go. >> Okay, let him slip past you. Let him sl past you. You keep doing compressions. You're just going to squeeze this every 3 to 5 seconds. Okay, >> give it a nice little squeeze. Not too hard, but grab him. Grab him. Grab him. Warriory old Belgian Malamino the table >> chest shot through exit out the back right here. >> I need the other monitor equipment. I was uh prank. >> As you can tell, I was I don't know. You >> stupid prank. >> Yeah. >> Sh dog. That's an officer. So% of >> Oh, this man's going to take funeral leave when his dog died. Trouble >> County Police Department remembering one of their own. The department laid to rest K9 Blue. Blue lost his life in the line of duty last week. >> People traveled from all over to pay their respects to Blue during the procession today. My name is Muel Kobe. I wanted to pay my respects to Blue uh the K9 officer. He lost his life because he lost his life uh protecting us uh doing what he uh obviously love to do. And I'm a dog lover at heart. Um, I I just loved animals and uh I just felt that it was just the right thing to do was just to come and pay my respects and it was very emotional. Just seeing those pictures on the uh on the news was just it was just heartbreaking and uh it was just just brought me to tears as I saw a sea of blue lights coming down the highway and just you know thinking of him and um just seeing you know just thinking of his life just being taken away just like that in the line of duty. >> K9 Blue is actually laid to rest not far from where I'm standing. You can see just over that white fence is where he was laid to rest. His department says he was more than just a fellow officer. He was family. A river of blue lights made up of 15 motorcycle officers and nearly 150 police cruisers from departments all over metro Atlanta hit the streets of Gwinnet County this morning. The display of unity all in the name of honoring SWAT K9 officer K9 Blue. >> We're particularly touched by K9 Blue's story and just wanted to come out and show our support. Gwinnet County residents showed up as well to pay their respects to the K9 officer. >> We support the K9 force and uh we are here to honor what they do. I think it's typical of uh of what a dog will do. You know, what an trained officer, what a trained dog will do. Uh uh they're willing to sacrifice their life uh to protect their handler and to protect others. >> It's a sacrifice the Gwynette County officers will never forget. That's a a member of the family for a lot of these officers. >> A family member this community also will never forget. >> Well, John, well done, my servant. Good and faithful servant. He did his job well. Thank you. Enjoy your rest. We'll meet you on the other side of the rainbow. Now, the Guette County Police Department says they want to thank everyone who showed their support for K9 Blue today. They also say that they are still searching for the second suspect who was involved in that incident that led to K9 Blue's death. >> Okay, some final thoughts to wrap this uh incident up. Um I'm definitely lost with words. Uh let me just start off by saying that uh Gwynet County PD, man, stay strong. Uh it's um when we started this channel, when I decided to do this, um I I didn't know what to expect. Uh besides the fact that I just wanted to share my experience about, hey, this is what happens when you arrive a scene of an officer involved shooting. Uh what I didn't know is the emotions that come with, you know, my 24 year career in LAPD. One too many funerals. And it's just devastating and it's heartbreaking for the suspect for K9 Blue all lives. Okay. when you lose the loss of a loved one, uh it it really hits home, okay? It's devastating enough as it is. So, just know that uh come and feel these shoes of a police officer with the emotions and the trauma we experienced throughout our careers. It's not easy whatsoever, okay? Please be safe out there. Okay, so Robert died after opening fire during the woods track. SWAT K9 Blue was also killed in the gunfight. Okay. Now, Blue was the department's first full-time SWAT Kanine officer, and Gwynette held a full funeral procession to lay him to rest. And last, but not least, Georgia Bureau of Investigations, known as GBI, investigated the officer involved shooting investigation.
