Hey, put your hands up! Put your hands up! Put your motherfucking hands up! On December 14th, 2025, in St. Cloud, Florida, officers responded to a security alarm at Starling Chevrolet just before 3 a.m. Employees monitoring the property reported suspicious activity among the vehicles on the lot. When officers arrived, they found a 20-year -old man, later identified as Deshae Turner, sitting inside one of the cars. At first, it looked like a routine burglary investigation, but within moments, officers would find themselves chasing a suspect through the darkness with no idea how dangerous the situation was about to become. St. Cloud Police, Recorder Line, may I help you? Hello, this is Chris with the Surveillance Operations Center. I was calling to report activity at a dealership that we monitor. Can you tell me exactly what happened? We have an individual that is seen loading around in the backside of the dealership, and he's kind of just moving in a suspicious manner. There's no one supposed to be out there. All right, one second. I'm just going to enter some information and have a few questions for you. Sure, thanks. And what's the name of the business? It is going to be Starling Chevrolet. Okay, I'm going to let you go now. Call us back if you receive key holder or additional information. I'm Operator 1194. 1194, all right. We appreciate it. Thank you. You're welcome. Bye-bye. Thank you. Bye-bye. Let me see your hands. Let me see your hands. I got one running. One running. Stop! Stop! Police! Stop! He's running towards Wawa. Towards Wawa. Blue jeans, gray hoodie, dark skin. Drop the fence. Hey, stop! He was inside one of the vehicles. Now we get a better idea of why officers were there in the first place. The alarm company tells dispatch they can see someone moving around the vehicles at Starling Chevrolet, and officers are sent to check it out. When they arrive, they find D. Shea Turner sitting inside one of the cars on the lot. The encounter lasts only a few seconds before Turner suddenly takes off running, turning a burglary call into a foot chase through the darkness. We are behind Wawa. What's 10-20? Right behind you. Right behind you! Hey! That's you? Okay. Hey, put your hands up! Put your hands up! Put your motherfucking hands up! One at gunpoint. Put your hands up! Don't move your hands! Put your hands up! Bro, put your hands up! I don't want to shoot you! Put your hands up! I got hands. Put your hands up! I don't want to shoot you! Shot fire! Shot fire! Shot fire! Now officers have located Turner in the bushes and are giving repeated commands for him to show his hands. According to investigators, he refuses to comply and then produces a firearm. Two officers open fire, striking Turner multiple times. Police later said the gun recovered at the scene appeared to have malfunctioned. Had that firearm functioned differently, this encounter could have looked very different for everyone involved. Don't move your hands! Don't move! He got a gun right there. We are behind the wah-wah. Shot fire! Don't move your hands! Don't fucking move! Don't move your hands! Don't fucking move! Stop moving! Stop moving your hands! Stop moving! Bro, stop moving! I need some CPR here. Cover me. Cover me. I got you. 10-4, CPR. We're just honoring him right now. Yo, flash your light. Flash your light. Hey, we're back here! Yo, don't move! Don't move! Do not move! Back here! Behind the fence! The white fence! Behind the white fence! He's behind the fence of wah-wah. Within seconds of the shooting, additional officers began arriving to secure the scene. While some officers move in to provide medical aid and start CPR, the first officer who fired approaches Turner and places him in handcuffs before treatment continues. At that point, officers are balancing two priorities at once, keeping the scene secure and doing everything they can to save his life. Up! Bravo, Mike. Young, between the 20s. Bravo, Mike. No, there's nobody else. It's just him. It's just him. I saw him only run him. That's it. I didn't see nobody else. I didn't get to clear the whole dealership, though. All right. This is the only guy. Only guy. Can you CPR? Come on. He's breathing. He has a pulse. Yeah, yeah. That's fine. Seal your wounds. Yeah, he got one in and out, I believe. One shoulder. I believe somewhere in the legs. You got a tourniquet on the leg? Yeah, I got a tourniquet on the leg. All right. This one right here. Did you blood sweep for other wounds? FD's coming. Go ahead. Not yet. Who shot? Both of us. Okay. Take care of him first. We'll deal with that later, okay? Are you guys? He's going to be our suspect. Yeah, assess. Assess yourself. Go ahead. You're still here, buddy. You're still here, buddy. Keep working on him, Jones. You're still here, buddy. Make sure he's breathing. Start CPR. Start CPR. He's breathing. He's breathing again. He's breathing on his own. He may not be breathing. I think we do have a pulse. Yeah, here we are, Lucas. He has guns. He's providing some light. What was that? He's providing light. Velazquez, Vendez, with me. Sarge, your gun is right there. Behind the bushes right there. There's a gun. All right. Jones. I need you to- Vendez, do you have a flashlight? Rod, you are with him. Rod, where he goes, you go. Okay. So you guys are over there. You come this way. I walk in the parking lot of the dealership. At this same point behind the dealership, this side, I saw a shadow inside a vehicle. Okay. Like open door, digging in. I put my gun. I said, hey, stop. Show me your hands. He looked at me. I don't- Less about that. More about I just need your path of travel so I can block up the crime scene. So then he came running this way. He jumped the fence. I came through that hole. Okay. And I saw him in the bushes right there. Okay. You guys are- Are you guys good for right now? Yeah, we're good. Okay. What I'm going to do, I'm going to have you guys chilling with me for a bit. Okay. I'm going to place you on ice somewhere. You just relax. Keep your body cams off a little bit till we get off scene. I just want to make sure you guys are not hit at all. Okay. All your original equipment's here. Cool. All right. I'll have you come with me. This will be taken care of. Okay. Now investigators begin taking control of the scene. Supervisors separate the involved officers and start gathering their initial accounts while evidence is secured and documented. These conversations happen early because investigators need to understand exactly what each officer saw and what led to the shooting. Let me know in the comments, how do you think this situation should have been handled? I'm not going to have that for a minute. I have Rod holding with the victim. He's going to fall on the gunshot guy. Okay. So Rod's stuck with him. Jones is holding where the gun is right now. Okay. That's what I got. Okay. So yeah, when we get others here, we'll do that. How are you doing, sir? You doing all right? I'm all right. You need anything? Nothing. Okay. How's it going, man? Hope I'm here for you. Whatever you need. Okay. All right. I appreciate it. That's y'all's number two? Yeah. Is that good, mate? Yes. I can do so. You think for a situation like this? Oh, I got you. What did you say? Like how, like. How fast I got here? Yeah. How fast you got here, you know what I'm saying? I'll tell you. I got a few things where I thought, you know, like, Bradshaw. They're like, you're chillin' there, though. You look awesome. I see you chillin' fuckin' so good. Thank you. Hey, buddy. Is there anything I can get you? Anything I can get you? I mean, we closed Wawa so we can go steal whatever we want from you. So if you need something, just let me know. Okay. Let him know. He'll let us know. Let us know. You're good. Absolutely. Okay. So the process is, FTLee's gonna come out here. They're gonna, they're probably gonna, they're gonna do their stuff. They'll offer to talk to you. You have the option to wait till tomorrow. Oftentimes, your memory is better, but it's gonna be up for you to say, they'll probably do that to you, okay? So if you do whatever, just talk to them. If you'd like us better, you have that tomorrow? Great. If you want to, talk to them, okay? Okay. Do you pay union legal dues? Not that I know of. Okay. If you did, you're entitled to have the rep here. Okay. Or when you're interviewed, but you're good. So just, when they get here, talk to them. Figure out what they have to say. That's that part of the process. They'll interview you, ask you questions. If you notice, I haven't really asked you anything other than pertinent what evidence is. So you don't have to say anything until that part, okay? Okay. They'll inform you all about part of the investigation when you choose what you need to do. All right. Come talk on, check on you. So you're good? Yes, sir. Okay. Water? Anything? Yeah, cool. You need something else? Let us know that. So processes are going to come out until he's going to interview you. You can choose to talk to him tonight. You can talk to him tomorrow. You probably recall more on another day. It's up to you. They'll talk to you and advise you on that. Okay. The union prep? Yes. If you want to notify them, we can do that. I'll, and we can go from there. Okay. That'll be up to you. Do you have the notification number? No, I don't have it. Okay. You have legal protection from the union? Yeah, I pay with them. Okay. I'll get that to you in just a minute. So we'll get that going. The investigation does not stop that night. Two days later, detectives are still trying to determine whether anyone else was involved in the burglary. Officers speak with people who knew Turner and look into any recent conversations, contacts, or information that could help explain what happened before officers arrived at the dealership. All right. What's your guys' last conversation? That he had a gun. That he was in a car. And what's that time right now? Yeah, I don't know. You guys were taking pictures. And that's it? You have no more communication with him whatsoever? Uh, yeah, I texted him. Yeah, yeah. And that was? 10 o'clock after 12. 10 o'clock. Well, do you remember when you texted that? Uh, I was trying to, yeah. It's, it's, it's. Okay. That was it? Nothing? So he never once kind of came inside or anything like that? No, he never came inside. And he, he had told you that he was leaving on the bus? Do you know how he got to St. Cloud? Um, he told me he's staying here now. He told you that he's staying in St. Cloud now? Mm-hmm. Do you know anybody that checks to know where he was staying? No, I don't know. Okay. So he was, oh, where he was staying? Yeah, so he's saying he's staying in the. He's staying in Alpaca. Oh, he's staying in Alpaca. So he's saying that he's staying in St. Cloud now. Did he tell you where he was staying? Yes, he did. No, he didn't tell you? Um, other than this past weekend. How long have you guys talked? Probably about like, maybe three weeks ago or two. It's been a while. Yeah, we don't hang out a lot. We're kind of friends from like another friend. Okay, friends to a friend? Yeah. Okay, who's the other friend? He stayed in the neighborhood across the street. All right, I don't really have a whole lot of other questions. Um, you can also give me a call when you kind of talk to your friend. Deshae Brian Turner, 20, died after the officer -involved shooting. According to St. Cloud police, Turner had allegedly burglarized a vehicle at Starling Chevrolet before fleeing from officers and producing a firearm during the encounter. Police later said the gun recovered at the scene had been stolen from one of the dealership vehicles and appeared to have malfunctioned. The two officers involved were not injured and were placed on administrative leave while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement conducted its investigation. So what do you think? Once Turner allegedly produced the firearm, did officers have any other realistic option? Let me know in the comments.
