Bullies think that they can get away with anything, but when the police show up, they quickly find out that teenagers are not exempt from the law, much like this out-of-control student found out. And this trespassing suspect. Or this allegedly intoxicated high schooler. Here are six times that school bullies were taught a hard lesson by the cops. Meet 17-year-old Mercedes, who on August the 24th of 2022 would be reported to police when she appeared to be having an overdose at school. The police already knew Mercedes from prior encounters, and she immediately started walking away when she saw the officers approaching. Don't Don't or you're going to get thrown on the ground. Do you understand? Let's go. Mercedes. LEARN HOW TO LISTEN. LAST THING YOU'RE GOING TO DO IS TURN AROUND ON ME. You hear me? Cuz you want to act stupid. I'm not acting stupid. Not no more. Cuz you want to turn around and try to swing on me. Keep it up. swinging on you, BRO. STAND UP. STAND UP. GOING TO BE ALL RIGHT. YOU WANT TO SCREAM AT ME LIKE THAT? THAT'S why I got so many bruises on me. That's from me? Yes, from you guys. I'm [ __ ] dead. Maybe you should listen. I've been listening. I wasn't doing nothing but laying on the [ __ ] seats. Is that why you were walking across the street when I told you to come here? Because they wanted me to leave so I [ __ ] left. Who would make you leave school? I'm dead. They said I had to [ __ ] leave. What do you mean by I'm dead? CUZ I'M [ __ ] DEAD, RIGHT? I DON'T GOT NOTHING ON ME. DID YOU GUYS GET a hold of parents by chance? Well, they can't get a hold of any family member whatsoever. I've done the phone tree and no one's answering. Where does she live? Uh we can get an address. Yeah, we can get all that. Laying on a bench. She was very incoherent. She got up and was walking. Mercedes. And came super belligerent towards staff members. Like like she was with you. She was trying to throw this at people and stuff like that. And then she also has a history of heavy drug Same one. Yeah, she's in the bathroom right now. The officer confirmed that the school had no longer wanted Mercedes there and a short while later her stepfather arrives on scene. But the officers advised him that Mercedes had to be released to her mother. She might have some scratches on her knee or something. She tried swinging on me, too. Yeah, I saw Mercedes? Yeah, she's got some demographics here. It's just a typo. We're going to get it fixed for you guys. And you guys are just She just left the school or are you guys trying to get her back? We were kind of following her around just trying to make sure she didn't blow up or do anything to anybody else. And she got real belligerent and kept saying, "What are you going to do, follow me off campus?" And that's right when the officer pulled up, you know. When she was inside, she was laying down. It looked like she was trying to go to sleep and she just Yeah. incoherent and then she got up and and was walking around and weaving and then she started to become belligerent. Threatening people or Um she's threatened to throw a Gatorade bottle at her. She had it in her hand or Yeah. Yeah. And uh And our registrar is helping me helping us cuz she's a female. Yeah. Any uh family members here or brothers, sisters, who is Yes. She's going to sign her for dancing in over here. Do you guys want her back at the school or you want You know what I mean? She's a danger right now. We're we're I'm sure she checked out but I don't know what state she's in. You know or if she's got something to what what she's capable of doing. All right. We'll take her home and see if we can get her over it. Okay. Parents with daughter Okay. Hello. Hello. Can we help you? Yes, ma'am. What We found a runaway juvenile. Um I guess her mom works here in the cafeteria. Is it Carmalita? Carmalita? Yeah. Okay, cuz somebody just called an emergency call. Yeah. Let me let you in and you know where the cafeteria is? Okay. They've already finished serving lunch, so Our old office is up there at the end of the hallway. Uh-huh. It's right to the left at the end of that hallway. At the end of the hallway. Yeah, okay. Thank you, ma'am. Hello. I'll be in right there. No problem. And then you can come on in and then Okay. And then this one also in there. Okay. I'm coming. Yeah, no problem. Your daughter Mercedes? Yes. Three photos of anyway? I did. Um if you could just let me clock out and I'll be right outside. Oh, you don't have to clock out. That's what I was going to ask you. Is it your boyfriend that's over there? but he's she's going to fight with him. I Okay. Yeah yeah I thought I would have to find out who I want to make sure we release her to somebody that can to give them a number and then um I'll be right out. problem. If you want to go to Northmont High School in the front. Okay, I will. He should be on his way. Okay, I think he's there already, but I just want to make sure. How you doing, sir? Pretty good. What are you here for? I am here for the safety test. Okay, are you dad? I'm the step dad. Where's mom? Mom's at work. Okay, she's claiming mom's not at work. Mom's at home and I had my sergeant head into the address there to pick her Mom's at work. She works at home. Okay. off at 2:00. Okay. Cuz she's saying mom don't work. Yeah, mom works at home. Okay, I'll go get her. Is there any way we can get mom here cuz I have to turn over to a parent and or guardian? Uh her mom can't even get to you. Um if not, I was going to request detention at the detention center to take her to jail for the charges today. Or her her dad. Um yeah, cuz the only paperwork I have through the school is Carmelita. Uh you can call her dad. I don't know her dad's number. Oh, sorry to bug you like this though. So So I just got off the phone with her dad. Okay. Um We don't know how your guys's rules work and I don't know exactly what happened here. She was trying to kind of fill me in on the way. Yeah, so I'll just let you know real quick. So the school called us for reference. They called it as an overdose. She's out here in the common area. Okay. Uh falling asleep, but as if she might be under the influence. Falling asleep and then would wake up, be very disorderly towards them, swearing, attempting to throw an apple juice bottle at all the staff. Um me and dad cuz like I said, I was on the phone with dad. We We already know how she is. We've been having trouble with her for the past 2 years. Yeah. And she's been running away. Like if I take her home right now, she's literally going to fight with me. I don't know if you guys are able to take her to jail to sober up. I went bought home some grocery shopping. She had three of her friends in my home. I kicked her friends out and that's why I called the cops cuz she ran away, but they had alcohol in my home. Yeah, and that's what I looked so we could get your updated address cuz she says, "Oh, no, I don't know my address. My mom's home sick with COVID. I don't know her number." And so take this off. Put your hands on top of your head. Do you understand? Do you understand? Put your hand on your head. Uh your mom's inside I guess dis-enrolling you from school or whatever it may be. This school no longer wants you to attend here. Um I am going to turn you over to him and essentially you're going to be turned over turned over to mom. She has a little bit of paperwork and I will take you out of the system as a runaway. I will give you some advice. Uh if you keep running away or whatever these little charges you think are nothing they will be coming up where you will be taken to jail. Um I requested detention today to take you to the jail and they didn't but I can tell you if you keep doing this you definitely will you'll get taken to jail over this and you won't be released to mom or dad or stepdad or whatever it may be. So I mean if that's the road you want to go then by all means keep doing what you're doing. Um but it's a very simple thing all you have to do is listen to me and stop. And I would have brought you back, called mom and released you to mom but now you have three charges on you today. I don't know if you're trying to show off to the people outside but it didn't quite work out in your favor. Do you have any questions or anything for me? Once your mom comes out you're more than welcome to sit in the car with him. Once your mom comes out I just have paperwork that you and your mom both need to sign and then I'll get you on your way, okay? All right. Go over with him. After leaving the scene with her parents, Mercedes attracted the attention of police once again when she got into an altercation with her mother on the way home. What's going on? My mom she's pissing me off. I'm just trying to go home and I'm literally trying She said she's going to take me to my dad but they took my bed and everything so she needs to put that back and I told her that she needs to put it back. That's literally all that happened and she keeps yelling at me and everything, bro. I'm not doing nothing. I'm literally not doing nothing. Have you been in trouble with JPL before? Yes, because they thought I hit my mom but she's the one that was hitting me and I just pushed her off of me. Babe, did they take you to a detention center yet? No. Is that something you want to do? No, I'm just trying to go home, bro. I'm literally just trying to GO HOME AND GO TO SLEEP. GET that now, but you're going to have to chill and relax for a while. Okay, well, I will. You know what I mean? This [ __ ] is getting me mad, bro. I didn't do anything. Why is she yelling at ME FOR? WHAT? ARE YOU GOING TO LET ME TALK? But the way you're acting and too Okay, well, I'm sorry. What else do you want me to do? What do Are you Are you going to be able to just relax and chill till you get home? You know what I mean? Yeah, I'm sorry. Well, we shouldn't have played volleyball or anything. They really took me out of Take her over there or To dad's? Yeah, where is he at? You want to go to your dad's house? No, it's freaking hot over there. It's so hot. There's so many flies in this car. are you going to be chilling? I don't have my bag. I'm saying this, your mom's your mom went through all this trouble, came off of work today. Okay, well, that's not my fault. They should have just to what I'm saying and then you're sitting here being disrespectful as well. Okay, I'm sorry. Yeah, if she takes off again or starts acting up again Yeah, we were literally just going down the road and then he she just started punching the seat and kicking it and screaming and I'm like so I told him I'll go stop like talk to you. Yeah. And and that's it. That's about the situation. So she So she just needs to calm down. I get that about the one. Honestly, it's whatever I do need her to I do need her to go to her dad's. What I would do too is you gave her all the tickets and Yeah, she already has four. So wherever her case agent ends up being, hopefully they assign to your case. That's going to be a different programs, different I mean How old is she now? She's 17. She has lessons and stuff. As the officer pointed out, it wouldn't be much longer until Mercedes started facing heavy consequences for her actions, but this time the suspect went home without further incident with charges of resisting arrest and battery on a police officer. Even as erratic as her behavior was, it's nothing compared to the next suspect who had to be wrestled off of another student. You better chill the Do you understand me? You ready to chill? On September the 22nd of 2021, officers responded to Palo Verde High School following reports of a fight in the lunch room. One male student was refusing to calm down and being aggressive with staff who were trying to break it up. If you don't settle down, you don't settle down, YOU'RE GOING TO BE YOU BETTER CHILL. YOU BETTER CHILL THE DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME? YOU READY TO CHILL? STOP IT. STOP MOVING. YOU READY YEP, get off me. And when I get off you, you're going to roll over on your stomach. Do you understand me? Other way. Turn away from me. Thank you. Thank you. Let's go. Control out of 590. 416 Palo Verde lunch room. Code four. Turn towards me and sit on your butt, okay? Sit up on your butt. All right, stand up. We're going straight to the police office. Yeah. Okay, come with me and we're going right over here. The officer then brought the student into the office to talk to him about what had happened, and the suspect immediately denied being the aggressor, instead insisting that the other student started it. Okay, sit right here for me. Just relax. What were you guys fighting about? You don't want to talk yet? Hey, look, while we're in here, no phones, okay? No phones with me. Why are you taking my phone? I scratched my face. Go ahead and touch where you think it might be. They hurt everywhere, like Where is it? Your whole face? I don't I don't actually see any scratches. Okay. So, you were there, he's there. He said what to you? Or did you say something to him first? I said I said what's wrong and then he hit me. he got up and said we can take this outside bro. And I said all right bro. He said we can take this outside. Did you guys ever actually exchange any blows or anything like that? No. Okay, so it was just verbal? Yeah. Okay, so is your face hurting from me jumping on you? I think so. Okay. But it's okay, it's just a scratch. Okay, so then you guys come closer and start words or And we weren't even close. Like just how like you and him used to be right there. Uh-huh. We were just like that. Okay, okay. So I was way more further than him. We weren't even that close. We were just all words and didn't say anything. Okay, so then you were saying stuff, he was saying stuff. Okay. But and I and I backed and I kept backing away from him. I didn't get close to him. I kept backing away. And I backed and I kept walking back towards the door. Do you have your friends around you? I have two students in my office writing statements. Can you repeat that, Tracy? Hey, I have two students in my office that came up to write statements. So again, he never hit you, you never hit him. Yeah, is that correct? Okay, repeat for 590. Central status. Code four. So then Copy 590. How did all of this happen? You had a history with this other young man? I mean, have you been talking lately? Did you see each other on the weekend? Did something happen on the weekend? So he Okay, so he called you, he's been calling you. I don't even worry about him. I really don't too much care. He got stuff going on. He plays sports and I got stuff going on too. I didn't want to take it and make it a school issue. So he's called you this a couple times in the last few days? A lot of trouble. He shoots me. Okay. And you're not saying anything to him? You just started You guys just started getting into this today? I didn't I didn't say nothing to him. On Monday On Monday, I did pull him to the side and I said something to him. Okay. And we talked and we squashed it. But then he went back and did the same thing. And here's Here's what I want you to do in the future. If one of us or a police officer, hey, we're trying to help you. Once the officers had finished getting a statement about what had happened, the student was then sent home without further incident. All things considered, student fights are pretty common and usually easily resolved. But what happens when a student attacks a teacher? On January the 4th of 2024, an officer was called to a school after 16-year-old student spontaneously began punching a teacher. His crazed and lethargic behavior suggested that he was under the influence and he was slumped on the hallway floor when the officer arrived. Did you take anything, smoke anything? Drink anything? Coke. He said he took a hit of something in the I took a Coke. I didn't take I didn't I didn't take no weed. Yeah, he did So, did somebody give you something in the bathroom? Uh-huh. Yeah. Okay. What was it? Is he hurt? Yeah, well, I think he might have hit his head. He was banging He was banging his head, I think, against the glass. And then I got a lifeguard or something. I don't know. Oh my god. Hey, look at 80. Okay. I'll wait for them to get over there. We'll we'll I don't know how bad that is. Gaffney job, I think. Hey, was that a teacher or a student or a student over here? I heard a teacher. Anyone? Huh? All right. Well, I'll ask for another one to come to your area. He said he just needs somebody to help him. He probably twitched. Spinning around a little bit, right? I don't know what happened right here. Okay. All right. I'm You starting to freak out a little bit? I feel I I still feel a little bit going away a little bit. A little bit? Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Just calm it down. Calm down. Calm down. All right. All right. Are you going to throw up? No. No. Yeah. Just go away. Okay. Hey, look at 55. You look at 55. You 27 and I'll be in the vocational building with that uh squatter on that side. Is squatter in Both. They're both in. Am I in a dream? No, you're not dreaming, buddy. We're We got you, all right? Let us take care of you. All right. Let us take care of you. I think I'm dreaming, bro. You're all right, buddy. I think I'm in a dream. Okay. Well, hey, listen. If we can't It's all I'm [ __ ] different than you. It's all good, G. If we can't chill out, we're going to have to put handcuffs on you. I don't want to do that, okay? I got somebody coming. I'm not crazy. I know you ain't crazy. I'm not crazy, though. So, two squads are coming. Okay. One's going for the teacher. Okay. One's coming over here. Yeah. Okay. Can you guys just get the one that's coming over here? They They're told to pull to the vocational, but you know how that works. But, if you meet them out front, just walk them in here. We're still good. We definitely took a hit of something. I didn't smoke. I just had a card. A card? Okay. What What did Can you tell me more about what that means? Yeah, 42. Yeah, yeah, had a 42 and then I asked him Go Go ahead. Go ahead. And I asked him can I use And and I asked him can I use it. Okay. You keep them down. Here, just grab Grab the Grab that. Right there. Got it. It's hurting cuz it hurt a little bit? Yes, cuz I was running I was I ran too I was running fast and I was glitching. And you're glitching? You got anything in your in your pockets? Any glitchies in your pockets? Nope. Nothing. The officer desperately information about what drugs he had taken, and the suspect was too disoriented to answer clearly. But, before paramedics could treat him, they had to figure out what he had smoked. So, what did it have a 47 on it? Tell me more about it. He had some 42. 42 on it, okay. So, he had some of these cards and it had a 42 on it. Could you find out was killed? Okay, we're trying to we're trying to figure out what he took over here. Sounds like he was in the bathroom. I think he took a card but he's saying which made him freak out and then he ran over there. I'm assuming that's where he ran. Is it vape? I don't know. I think it's a Something like a weed. So is it just like marijuana vape pen? It was a pod. I don't know if I think it's something was in it or not. I don't know if it's a drug. I don't I don't know if it's a drug or if it was Google it real fast. It's the white box. Well, I don't know what a white box is. Unable to get any straight answers out of the student or any others who gave him the drugs, officers in a different room searched the other students' clothing and locker in order to uncover what drugs they consumed. That's what it was. What kind of pod is it? Jack and pod. Juicy strawberry. The ball cup. Um Uh grape one Z. Um blueberry. Getting Either way, he needs somebody to ride with him cuz he's all over the place. Sometimes we're good, sometimes we're up. His heart rate is like 170. Okay. For what happened in there, are we doing I don't know. Don't know. Okay. We can We can do that tomorrow. Okay, that's what I was saying. I didn't know how serious we were at on that level. So Matt was going to get my bill for what he had on him. 27 in it. Get them, we know who they are. We'll come together with the team and we'll figure it out. He's out here with Um male, white, is a senior and a black and a male, white. They're both They're both white. Out in the bathroom. They came in. He got the card from them, a card card that said 42 on it, took a hit from that and he freaked out from there. No, I didn't freak out right there. Didn't freak out? I went to the class. You went back to class? I sat down. And I was talking to my friend and he was calming me down. Then that's when That's when this all happened. That's where you started freaking out in the class. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Did Did she say anything to you in the class? Uh no. Uh Antonio he said uh um Are you good, bro? And I said, "Bro, no I'm not, bro. Like I keep glitching." You get me? That's when she said, "Are you good?" And that's No, my heart was racing. This one? Yeah, you can uh uh um And then after that I stopped running. Okay. Did Did Do you went outside and thought it was a dream. Okay. Did Did you Then that's when I started banging my head on the window. I did it on purpose. You hit your head on the wall? Yeah. I thought I was Yeah, I thought it was a dream. Did Wait, what were you trying to do by hitting your head? Were you trying to hurt yourself? Were you trying to wake up or to wake up, yeah. You're trying to wake up. What did the dream feel like? It's like Were people talking to you and telling you bad things to yourself or anything? No. I was I kept hearing echoes and echoes. Every time I talked, I couldn't understand you. Okay. And so when I got over here, you were on the ground. It's like it's delayed. It's delayed? Do you remember having any conversation with the teacher? Oh, the teacher she said she she was going to call the police, man. I just start punching him. You start punching who? The The teacher. The teacher? Do you remember where you hit her? On the head. In the head? Did she say anything to you? She said she she started she started screaming. And that's when Antonio said, "What's wrong with you, man?" And that's when I ran out the classroom. Yep. Mom, can you Okay. I I I I I I hope so, man. Hold on to you. Hold on. Love you. Just hang in there, okay? I'm right with you, okay? Okay? Okay? Sir, if you could call your mom to come get No. Do you mind just stepping back? They're going to take him. Yeah, we're going to Yeah, we want to get him down there. We want to get him down to Children's. Okay. I'm right behind you, okay? Hey, bud. Are you in the back? Are you okay to walk? What's wrong, bud? Hey, you and me back there, is that okay? How you doing? You all right? I'm right with you, okay? Move out of the Hey, grandma. Can I get a couple of little information from you real quick? Can I get a little bit of information from you? I'm Officer Gatlin, one of the resource officers. What's your first name? Debbie. Debbie, do you do you have your driver's license on you? Or is it in the car? I'm sorry. I'm I'm going to bring him here. I got the phone. Okay. Okay. I'll be there when you get there, okay? This is short, you're right. If I get your car and report it to the station here. If I got your car and report He said, "We can't even do it. I'm the last one." I need to see you. Drop me back off at your PD. Oh, he said his car's there. Wait, from where? From the squad car? Oh, yeah, they can change the points. After the victim's grandmother arrived, he was then loaded onto a gurney and transported to the hospital where he would receive treatment and was sent home later that same day. We can confidently say that he learned a very important lesson that day, and likewise, the next student learned that you can't assault people just because they laughed at you. They kicked me, they grabbed at my hair, I grabbed at them. On February the 7th of 2024, 16-year-old non-binary student Nex Benedict wound up in the hospital after getting into a physical altercation with three females at Owasso High School. It's my uh Your daily water bottle you used to carry around, okay? I think it was a plastic water bottle. Okay, fair enough. Okay, so he squirted him with water, threw water on whatever it was. Okay. Um then at that point what happened? Uh They kicked me. They grabbed at my hair. I grabbed at them. I threw one of them into a paper towel dispenser. And then they got my legs out from under me and got me on the ground trying to beat the crap out of me. A surveillance camera caught footage of a group of girls entering the bathroom and moments later Nex can be seen standing at the water fountain nearby where they were apparently filling a water bottle. Nex then proceeds into the bathroom where they reportedly threw water on the three girls who had subsequently attacked them until a staff member walked in and broke it up. So, what happened today? I got jumped. Tell me about it. What happened? She said, "Mom." She said, "These three girls there are just they they won't leave me alone. They're making comments. They're yelling They're They're calling us names. They're throwing stuff at us." And this is a nice family. Well, who's over this place? I said, "Ignore it, Gabby. Get Get above it. You know, just ignore it." Sure. She did until she couldn't in the bathroom. And they said that there was three girls that were on top of her just beating the crap out of her. I said, "Okay, so what are we doing about this?" Oh, in a couple days we'll talk about it. I said, "No. I want something done." Who said in a couple days? The The principal. Okay. Why are they saying that? I said, "I think we need to have a police officer It's assault." The police originally weren't alerted to the fight, but it was the teen's mother who had called 911 requesting that they respond. The officer then turns his attention to Nex and asks for a rundown of what happened. When this first started happening, whatever this is going this banter back and forth between you and and the other individuals, did you at any point contact any school administration, whether it be counselor, um the the teacher that you know, sits in that classroom, did you let any of them know at any point in time? No. Okay. And I'm just asking. There's no right or wrong, but why not? Um I didn't really see the point in it. I I told my mom around. Sure. Sure. But you didn't tell the school where they could actually do something. At any point during this whole situation and I use the word the the the the word loosely, but the bantering or whatever it is going back and forth between you guys. Obviously, you know each other. Obviously, you both We don't know each other. Well, you know of each other with the vape situations and all that or No, we Before this, we didn't have no Before this ISP thing, we we never saw each other in the freshman or sophomore. Okay. We didn't know any Okay. I don't know their names. I don't know them. Okay. So so they just up and decided to just start messing with you. There was There was of the way that we dress. Okay. So you didn't do anything at all at any point in time that would have even a couple days ago or even a month ago or or anything like that. I don't know these girls. So so they just continue to to to pick on you and pick on you. Um then at some point, you did What What happened? They They got up and confronted you in class or We were Or did you say it was the bathroom or the hallway? Okay, the bathroom. We were going to set chairs and we after we set chairs, we went to the bathroom and I was talking with my friends, they were talking with their friends and we were laughing and they had said something like, "Why do they laugh like that?" and and they were talking about us in front of us. And so I went up there and I poured water on them. Okay. And then all three of them came at me. Um then at that point, what happened? Uh they came at me, they grabbed at my hair, I grabbed at them, I threw one of them into a paper towel dispenser, and then they got my legs out from under me and got me on the ground and started beating the crap out of me. So I'm I'm going to follow up Mom as far as you're concerned. I'm going to definitely follow up with the school tomorrow morning. Um figure out because yes, any criminal type action, the school is supposed to give us a call. That's the problem. Um so, whether they just got I I and I'm not making excuses for them, but I've seen it happen both ways. Either they maybe they forgot, but the fact of the matter is they they they dropped the ball on this one of not notifying me or right away. them I wanted something done. I said, "That is assault. She never laid her hands." Now, she did throw water, that was wrong. Well, not only was it wrong, but it makes the entire difference between a victim and a perpetrator. A person can't assault another simply because they said something mean, and the fact that Nex physically attacked the girls first meant that the pair most likely wouldn't succeed in pressing charges. But even worse, it meant that the girls could possibly press charges on Nex as the officer was about to point out. Yes, I can technically do a report for the assault matter, absolutely. Uh-huh. Okay? Um because it's unwanted touching of one individual to another. They put their hands on you, okay? And it was unwanted. I will also tell you though that the old saying what's good for the goose is good for the gander, meaning the way you the the courts are going to look at it as it's it's a mutual fight. Okay? So, both parties are victims, but both parties are also suspects in this. Do you get what I'm saying? You're a offender as well. So, I will absolutely do a report. If that's what you want, I can get Okay, but I'm just letting you know the other party wants to do the same thing, she's going to be uh the assault will be on her as well. Um because she first assaulted. She was the one who initiated it essentially because you got freedom of speech. You can do all this all day long. The action of physically The moment she threw that water, you've now assaulted somebody. You made the first jab. Just because it doesn't make it right, but they defended themselves, quote unquote. You retaliated back. Now we've got this back and forth when both parties had equal opportunity to separate. So, that's where I'm saying it's it's not going to be in the best of light for you, but I can absolutely do that if that's what you like. I'm just telling you it's it may not go the direction you want it to go. I'm not the judge. I'm not the jury. I'm here to just say this is the facts. This is what's presented. She's a true victim of assault and battery. Mhm. She did nothing. But the fact that she re- threw that water, it kind of it kind of Yeah. kind of puts her not in don't put hands on them? It's still assault and battery. It's a let's break it down piece by piece, element by element. Who actually started the situation? Right in the mouth is freedom of speech. Yes. Unfortunately. You can say mean hurtful things all day long. Mhm. And then you got to let it roll off your shoulder. The moment someone retaliates or does something physically Mhm. or a directive threat verbally, now you have something. Throwing that water on there, just cuz it's water doesn't make it any better. It could have been urine. It could have been paint. It could have been anything. What about cuz there was three of them and she only threw water on one? Doesn't matter. I mean, it matters for the school. The school's going to to Everyone's going to be disciplined that everybody that went in there, everyone that was in her her group, Yeah. everybody that was in the other group. It doesn't matter if there's three of them fighting, they're all going to be disciplined in the school. From a criminal side of things, it doesn't make it okay. You had three versus one it doesn't matter. What matters is who started it. Mhm. And how what where's where how bad of a situation like was there weapons involved, was there not, things like that. Are you going to be at school tomorrow or No. Okay, they're going to keep you at home. her. Good luck to you. I'll see you around. Hopefully. Sadly, all hopes of seeing Neks again would evaporate the very next morning when their grandmother found them unresponsive in their bed and called 911. Their grandmother initially theorized that their death was directly related to the fight the previous day, but more than a month after Nex death, officials confirmed their suspicions that Nex had ended their own life. Toxic doses of two different drugs were found in Nex system and they ultimately died of an overdose. Despite their actions, that's never the way that any case should end, but you can guess how the next case goes after a student attacked the officer who was trying to arrest her. Mom, GET THE [ __ ] RESISTING. GET THE [ __ ] ON JULY THE 25th of 2023, an officer was requested at a high school where a suspended student was ignoring warnings to leave campus. About 30 minutes later, Jasmine was prepared for transport to the police station. You got your purse? Yeah. All I'm going to do is I'm going to take these off you. You're going to put your hand on top of your head afterwards, okay? I'm going to let you put this one on. Okay, with mom. You want to get some anklets? You can take them off. Okay, I got you. You're not going to fall. Is that it? Yeah, that one is. They'll call you here in in a little bit to come pick her up. Like I said, Okay. I That's if she doesn't point out. Now, can I have you come back in with me to get the paperwork? You let me know when you're done. All right. Yeah, I'm heading back to my office. She was taken to the station and released to her mother shortly after with a charge of battery on a police officer. And if you think she learned a hard lesson, the next student was so uncooperative that she had to be tackled multiple times. You're not going to win. Stop fighting. On March the 7th of 2023, school administrators contacted police to report a student whom they believed to be under the influence, and they saw the student hiding a bottle of alcohol in her pocket, but they repeatedly denied having it. No. I do not, ma'am. Not assuming. It's right there. I see the lip. See? But based on what the nurse said, you you know that test she gave you? I'm going to use that to charge you, okay? Well, why?
