Kind of sounds like this is all based upon cleaning up cat [ __ ] >> It is. >> Oh, okay. >> On October 28th, 2025, deputies with the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance at a home in Verdin, Illinois. According to the report, what began as a disagreement between a mother and her 40-year-old daughter over cleaning up after several cats quickly escalated into a physical confrontation inside the residence. >> Sorry about the wait, big guy. >> What? >> I said sorry about the wait. >> Oh, you're good, man. >> So, what happened today is cat feces that her daughter, Nicole, has cats, three cats in the garage. Had cat feces in the garage. She was irritated. She wanted her daughter to clean it up. When Nicole came over, that's when the disturbance happens. She does have a mark on her lip. She stated that Nicole grabbed her arm and that she got in her face and Nicole's, you know, pushed her back to create distance. Mom, daughter. Um nothing happened in front of the 14-year-old is what I'm saying. >> And she's still up near about press charges. >> Well, at that point, yeah, I'd bet she is. If we're talking to the master of the torts, yeah. >> So, we need to talk to Nicole. That sounds like Kind of sounds like this is all based upon cleaning up cat [ __ ] >> It is. >> Oh, okay. So, if you could just let me know, I just got to hear it from you. I just, you know, from the beginning. >> She was supposed to be here this morning to take her to school and she never showed up, so I took her to school. I tried to get a hold of her all day today to come and >> going to step up here with you. >> to come and clean up her mess. The cats make always make a mess in the garage and they're not even They shouldn't even be here. And I just wanted her to come and clean it up because it stinks out there in the poor cats. >> Mhm. >> And I couldn't get a hold of her, so I got a hold of my stepdaughter. And um her boyfriend gave me the number of my daughter's boyfriend that she is staying with her. >> This is the issue that appears to have set everything in motion. For whatever reason, Nicole became extremely upset that her mother had contacted someone else in an effort to get a hold of her, and the situation quickly spiraled from there. >> So, I called his number and then no answer. She didn't show up all day long. Nothing, nothing, nothing. And then I heard the door, the back door. I got up and I rounded the corner. She came in at me and she said got in my face and she said How dare you? I'm not going to get in your >> No, no, no, you're good. I understand. >> Dare you call my boyfriend. Where did you get his number at? Blah, blah, blah, and all this stuff in my face. Then I kind of pushed her like that, not hard. I just pushed her out of my face. You don't get in my face. I was like, get in or out of my face. And then she That's when she came at me. She came at me and my hand hit the table and I don't know. It was like several times. And I ended up pushing her and she fell on the floor. And then she got back up and she just started breaking [ __ ] She just started breaking [ __ ] >> She got She She live here or residence here or >> No, I have my granddaughter. My granddaughter lives with me. >> Okay. >> Permanently. >> Okay, okay. >> That was our arrangement, so she stays here with me. This is her address. I take her to school, everything. I do everything for her. Her mom has no job. Lost her job. >> Okay. So, she's in your face. Did she grab you, hit you, punch you, anything? >> grabbed me. >> And she >> She uh it was like that. I I I It happened so fast, I don't even know. I hit my This hit something. >> Is that So, you hit your wrist backing up and you >> Yeah, I hit it on something. She just grabbed everything in my >> Who started coming at you? >> and she's violently angry. >> Okay. >> Angry, angry. >> Is she still here or >> She is. My granddaughter's in there, too. >> Okay. Well, we're going to talk to her, okay? >> The deputy notes visible injuries on the mother, including redness on her neck and a mark on her lip that were documented during the investigation. After gathering the mother's side of the story, the deputies head inside the home where evidence of a physical altercation is clearly visible. >> Nicole? Nicole. Nikki. Where are you? Well, you need to come down here. >> Hey Nicole, this is Salem County Deputy Chastain. If you can come down here and talk to us. >> Yeah. >> All right, Nicole. So, we're going to talk out here, okay? >> Yeah. >> Got you. All righty. I need to know your side of the story of when you showed up here today. >> Yeah, I'm sure of it. They said you owe my sugar daddy. So, I showed up here and I asked her why she text my boyfriend where did she get his number from. She treats a 16-year-old like uh So, that kind of escalated. Uh she was yelling. Is are they standing right there cuz I really don't need to be standing right there. >> It's all right. I mean, you're talking to me, so. So, an argument inside starts because she's contacted your boyfriend to get a hold of you. >> Yeah. And so, I asked her where she got it and then she just kept She's like, "It doesn't matter." Blah blah blah and then uh said that she's heard things about me. Uh it's just a bunch of crap. One person can only take so much. She does this to me all the time. Um and then she We were in the kitchen area where the island is and she uh kept getting in my face or saying she wanted to hit me or something. So, I was like, "Well, then just do it." Well, she hit me. I hit back. So, I'm not going to let somebody just stand there and hit me. She's not my mom. She's >> All right. Where >> we're so we're in the kitchen. Where did she hit you and how did she hit you? >> She hit me in my face. >> Which side? >> I I don't even remember. I think it was just in the middle, honestly. Yeah. And then uh she did push me down. My leg is ruined. I'm pretty sure my thumb's broke, too, from her grabbing me. So. >> She tells deputies that she suffered several injuries during the incident. However, according to the report, the only injury specifically documented by the responding deputy was a cut that Nicole stated she received when she fell to the ground in the kitchen. >> Yeah, and then she did push me down. >> Just look straight ahead for me. >> Yeah. >> So then Okay. >> And then it kind of escalated. I did throw uh something. It was mine. But both um couple other things were thrown. Uh I know that she uh threw some stuff, too. So. I'm not really sure. It all kind of happened so fast. Um and then they just kept She honestly kept egging him on. She even came upstairs before you guys got here and was like fake crying to my daughter. Like I was on the phone with my daughter's dad, which he's on his way to help us. Um and uh she said that I didn't call the cops, he did. You have no reason to even come up here and tell me that. Like she's just trying to egg it on. Um I'm trying to remember everything. We have a house that's just being remodeled. Um so that's why we've been staying here. Uh so my cats are here. They don't want to let them inside. Uh so they've been in the garage. And he said he was going to open the door and just let them out. That's the type of people they are. Uh so hopefully he didn't do that because >> You're staying here right now, though. >> We have been. I'm trying not to be here as much as possible because it's I don't like to be around them. They're not good people. >> Okay. >> Um he also has weed growing in the basement and alcohol. >> That's something different, but we're trying to figure this out right now. >> So yeah. Uh that's Yeah, much it. >> With both sides of the story now documented, deputies take a step back to compare accounts and determine who the primary aggressor was. But before making that decision, the assisting deputy has a few additional questions. >> Can I ask you some follow-up questions? >> Yeah, go ahead. >> All right. So, uh initially just real fast if >> Yeah. >> you could explain this. So, initially uh when you got over here, what was the argument and what spiced everything up today? >> Her when she uh I asked where she got his number >> And she didn't want to >> tell me. >> Well, what did she call about? What exactly did she call him call him about? >> Just cuz she wanted to get a hold of me. >> For what reason? >> I'm not really sure. >> Oh. >> I mean oh, to clean the garage. That's what it was. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. >> That's what she told us, so I wanted to corroborate your story. Okay. All right. Okay, so and this all and everything took place in the kitchen? >> Yeah. Yeah. Like the kitchen dining area. >> Okay. All right. >> It sounds like everything lines up. Everything lines up to They were uncooperative. They were after you put their hands on you, they were uncooperative. >> Mhm. >> Mom then both got fingers on their face. >> Mhm. >> I think she put her mom first. >> Mhm. >> And she got pushed back. >> Mhm. >> So, I don't know if that's >> Yeah, I agree. Aggressor. >> Yeah. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. Yeah, it was pretty hard. >> Mhm. And did you see the kitchen in there and all the stuff? >> Oh, yeah. It's it's a mess. Yeah, it's a mess. >> I I think that's what we're doing today. So >> All right. >> All right, Nicole. All right. So, I'm going to tell you it's what it is and this is how the law works. So, you're going to go to jail today for domestic battery. Cuz that's your mom and you put your hands on her. I mean it is it's what it is. So, based off of the story you told me >> She she hit me. She put her hands on me. >> Nicole, based off of what we got from everything, you're going to go to jail for domestic battery. So, if you put your phone down, you can put your hands behind your back. I'm going to >> But why does she not get anything when >> Nicole, I'm not going to we're not going to do this back and forth. I'm going to chill. >> Are you serious? >> Very serious. Very serious. >> I did not I What the hell? Oh my god. >> Okay, just relax. >> No. I mean, what the hell? I do not deserve this. I can't believe you people. Oh my god. >> You got one on you, ma'am? >> No, I got one. Just check this right here. >> I can't believe she's doing this. >> Let me take this. >> She's pressing charges against me. Can I press charges against her? Is that possible? Can I do that? Are you not going to answer me? >> Well, we're going to I'm going to pat you down [snorts] here real quick, okay? >> The mother did not want to pursue any charges, but in the state of Illinois, officers are generally required to make an arrest based on the evidence, regardless of whether the victim wants charges filed. >> But apparently I can't do anything to her. She hit me. Sorry. >> There you go. >> You have to get it sorted out through the police department. >> How am I going to get out? I don't have bail money. >> I don't know. >> I can't believe her. >> All right. You're going to go back to the my squad car, all right? >> Can I have a cigarette before we leave? >> All right, we're going to go to my squad car real quick. >> It's right inside. I cannot believe you. Oh my god. She will never see me again. She will never see me again. >> All right. >> Can I please have a cigarette? >> Look, I'm going to have you sit there. I'm not We're not doing smokes and stuff like that right now. >> I can't do this, man. >> If you face face back in with that direction for me. >> Is that phone personal property? >> I'll put that in the front. >> Baby, I'm sorry she did this. Baby, I'm sorry. Baby, I'm sorry. Sir, my phone I just >> I actually have that in my front seat. I'm going to be honest with you. I'm not It's This is what it is. So, I'm going to explain this to you. Under state of Illinois, domestic battery. You guys are related. There was an altercation. It's not a typical battery where we can just say somebody doesn't get involved and have to walk away. We have to do something. >> Yeah, she she was doing it. >> So. >> Following the investigation, the woman was arrested and transported to the Sangamon County Jail.
