On September 1st, 2025, multiple 911 calls came in reporting a wrong-way driver traveling down a busy roadway in Illinois. Witnesses described a silver Toyota driving on the wrong side of the road, cutting off cars, and nearly causing multiple collisions. Moments later, that driver, a 61-year-old woman, would crash head-on into another vehicle. But, what officers uncover after the crash raises even more questions. Ma'am, way here. Signal 10 Hills 201. I mean, what day is it? You just wait here for a second, okay? I'm going to have the medics check you out. I hit someone? Yeah, yeah, you did. You got your driver's license everything on you? Still, the woman has no clue what happened. As stated before, it was reported that she was driving on the wrong side of the road, and at one point struck a median just before the head-on collision. Meanwhile, officers appear to misread the situation, assuming her confusion and disorientation may be due to her age, but what she later tells them changes everything. What's up, man? How you doing? Good. Did you talk to the driver yet? Uh it's an elderly lady. She looks like like she might have a medical issue. I'm not really sure. Okay. So. All right. All right. Yep. Check talk to her. Checking her out. I don't even know if she should be driving. Wow. Okay. But no injuries. She just wandered into the wrong lane. And she's been doing it since Back there, huh? Yeah. Talk about lucky. Yeah. Especially with this outcome. Sounds like it's pretty simple. No No major injuries and no DUI. So, how old is lady? 90? I don't know. Moments later, another officer approaches with new information. Something that directly contradicts their initial assessment of the situation. Hey. What's up? She's drunk. Is she? Yeah. She's coming from a Celebration left. My sergeant said to call and call and call. Especially if she's going to the hospital. Cuz I asked her where she was coming from. She was Celebration left. I'm not sure it mixes well with all the prescriptions. So, that's what I'm saying. I don't know how long we're going to be here for. That's where I was going to happen. I'm going to go right there to the station. All right. So, once we figure out who she is, I got that. From there, the investigation moves to the hospital, where she again tells officers that she had been drinking and did not remember the car crash. They then proceeded with a blood draw to determine her level of intoxication. How you doing, Mary? Well, you know, I've been better. I know, I was there. You're okay, ma'am. I'm glad you're all right. No one got hurt, okay? Thank goodness, just me. It Well, it seems like you're going to be all right. And I just This car was a little speed bump.
