Is he usually like this? >> Uh, yeah. No, I mean, he's fine. >> Well, he's being disrespectful to me. >> In all honesty, it's like a cop thing. >> You understand his attitude is reflecting how this situation will go. >> Yeah. >> On October 12th, 2025, just before 3:00 a.m., officers with the Washington Police Department were investigating debris scattered across a roadway. While investigating, they spotted a vehicle missing a tire pulling into a parking lot. But while officers attempted to investigate the suspected DUI, attention quickly shifted toward the passenger, the woman's husband, whose confrontational attitude toward police would escalate the encounter almost immediately. >> Okay. >> Yeah, >> we have a flat tire. We're trying to get home. >> Oh, okay. >> Okay. >> Why'd you get out of the car? >> What? >> I said, why'd you get out of the car? >> To come and talk to you. >> Oh, okay. I could have just talked to you over here. >> Are you guys the ones that lost your fender over here or whatever? >> No, >> I don't think so. >> No fender. >> Well, look at that. That's a flat flat flat tire. >> It is a flat flat. Yeah. >> You've been driving on that for a minute. >> No, not even. >> Really? >> No. >> 822. The flat tires over here >> here. >> Yeah, for quite some time now. I'm trying to find an Uber. Uh we're from up north. There's no Uber on here. >> Do you have a driver's license on you guys? >> Yeah. >> Perfect. >> There's the tire. There's the car. >> And they just pulled in here. >> So >> that tire >> I pulled in because I saw you get out of the car and walk up here and I didn't know I didn't know what we were doing. >> No, no, no. It's okay. We've been trying to figure >> We didn't We were trying to find an Uber to get back to the house and then >> here we are. >> Do you have an idea on you, sir? >> What is all this, dude? >> Let's Let's Let's stop with the attitude right from the get >> [ __ ] attitude, dude. I'm pissed that we're being bombarded by police. >> Why? >> We've been sitting here. >> You're at a closed business at 2:40 in the morning driving on a flat tire. According to the report, officers noticed that pieces of debris they had recovered from the roadway matched the damage on the vehicle, including part of the wheel well, which had already been collected and placed inside one of the officers patrol vehicles. This observation obviously confirmed their suspicions that this was indeed the vehicle they were searching for. >> I watched you guys pull in here. There's debris up on the roadway. We're driving in the area because there's debris up in the road. We're making sure there's no car sitting on the side of the road. There was debris over in the other. >> Okay. >> Obviously, you've both had something to drink tonight. >> And and don't let that guide you down the wrong path. I'm trying to be nice and polite with you, >> okay? So, don't be cussing at me for no reason. >> Cussing at you for no reason. >> You're being bombarded because you're both inebriated. >> I'm trying to find an Uber. >> Okay. >> So, what's the problem? I I don't understand where I don't understand where you're not understanding what I just explained to you because this vehicle has debris on my roadway >> and I'm trying to find it and I found it. >> Your roadway. Okay. >> Yeah. I work for the state. >> I got you. So do I. >> Do you have an ID? >> You need my ID? >> Yes, sir. I do. >> Why is that? >> Because I'm out with you at a close business and you're both going to go to jail if I don't give that to you. >> You're going to go in handcuffs? Yeah. >> If I don't give you my ID, >> you're going to get detained. Gotcha. That's my ID. Nice. >> Sorry. >> I'll pick it up. I'll pick it up. So, I'll pick it up. >> Why don't you do me a favor? I'm going to tell you. Just have a seat on the curb for me. >> Thank you so much. >> Just sit there and just be quiet. >> I got you. >> Cuz you're not making this any better. >> Just be quiet, but I'll sit down for you. >> That's fine. Well, think of it this way. Who's this to you? >> Who's who? >> This this lady to you. >> That's my wife. >> Okay. So just the way your attitude will reflect how this this goes. >> Will it? >> Yeah, absolutely. So if I were you, for her safety and her sake, please. >> Yes. >> Okay, >> I am. >> Can I speak to you over here, Mom? >> While the passenger is clearly giving officer's attitude, the officer's tone also comes across as a bit passive aggressive during the exchange. He then steps away to speak with the driver in an attempt to better understand their side of the story. But it won't be long before he brings up the obvious. as the officer notes that he has already noticed a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her breath. >> So, obviously I can tell you've had something to drink. I'm not dumb. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Yeah. >> Your tire sitting right there. >> You have no tire on your car. >> We were on the side over there. >> There was a little bit of a low to the tire. We're like, we're going to pull over. I was like, it's not that bad. And then I was like, "Oh god, it's real bad." >> Because it's the rim to the ground, >> right? >> How long have you been driving on the rim? >> How far up the road did you make it before you turn around? >> No, we left uh I don't even know the name of the place where we're just at. >> Was it a bar over here? >> Yeah, >> William. >> And you were driving, right? >> Yeah. >> When you got out of the car to walk up here, what were you doing? Are you guys arguing? >> No, not at all. What? What happened? I'm more worried about what happened to your wheel. I'm not going to sit here and incriminate myself or incriminate her. With all due respect, you guys know the drill here. I told her the tires gone. I know a pop tire when I hear one. >> Okay. Yeah, there's definitely a popped tire. I mean, you're on rim. >> There's no [ __ ] >> There's not even a tire. >> Telling her, "Let's pull over and [ __ ] Uber." >> Who was driving? You or >> Oh, [ __ ] no, dude. Come on now. >> You weren't driving. >> No, sir. No, sir. At the end of the day, I already know how this is going to go. You guys are going to go through a sobriety test with her, whatever. Blah, blah, [ __ ] blah. How do I get her out of jail once she gets locked up? >> No, no one has said anything about jail. So, I mean, I don't know where that's coming from. >> Dude, you're being a smartass. We know how this goes. >> You've had you've had nothing but an attitude since we came here. >> I have an attitude because like we pulled over and we're trying to get an Uber from here to home. I told her court too much strength. >> The husband continues repeating that they had pulled over to find an Uber while the other officer prepares to move forward with field sobriety tests after the driver openly admitted multiple times that she had been drinking and confirmed that she was the one operating the vehicle. >> How much have you had to drink tonight? >> Uh, two drinks. >> Two drinks? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Is he usually like this? >> Uh, yeah. No, I mean he's fine. >> Well, he's being disrespectful to me. I in all honesty it's like a cop thing. >> I don't feel it's a >> am I being rude to you anyway? >> No, not at all. >> To where you need to feel the curse of me and be disrespectful? >> Not at all. >> Okay. Do you understand his attitudes reflecting how this situation was? >> Yeah. >> I also feel his frustration in the moment with the tire. Um >> Okay. >> And again, that's not on you by any means. It was just the situation. >> Perfect. Yeah. >> But you guys are good. You're not organic. No, we're good. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. Can you put your purse and your glasses just one? >> Yeah, of course. >> All right. Just come over here for me. >> Yeah. >> So, do you have any problems with your eyes? >> No. >> Nothing. Okay. Can you go ahead and just put your feet together and put your arms down at your sides for me? >> Perfect. What I want you to do Okay. What's your first name? >> Courtney. >> Courtney. Okay. >> I'm going to shine a light up into your eyes. >> Just trying. Why is this happening? >> Because you were behind the wheel of a vehicle. >> Yeah. >> And you hit something to cause your tire to pop because your time out. Cuz your wheel well is sitting up at the road. It's in this officer's vehicle right now. >> Yeah. >> And you said you were drinking tonight. Multiple drinks. And >> the wheel well was already at a justice, but All right. >> And you've had some to drink. So you take responsibility of putting yourself behind the wheel when you drink what you've had to drink. Okay. And my job is to make sure that you're okay to drink. If you are, you guys can Uber and get here. Okay, make sense? >> Yeah. >> After the officer explains the situation, the woman reluctantly agrees to perform the field sobriety tests. Meanwhile, her husband's tone begins to shift, and he becomes surprisingly open about the circumstances surrounding the stop. >> I'm sorry that I have an attitude. I'm just upset, dude, because I'm upset with her. That's what it is. I don't mean to take it out of you guys, dude. I'm sorry, dude. This is not me. I'm just upset right now. I'm just upset. That's all it is. I mean, I don't even know how I'm going to get home when she goes to [ __ ] jail. And I hear you. I hear you guys. >> You both You live on >> We're not even saying she's going to jail. I get that. She's going to jail, dude. I I see this [ __ ] all the time. She's going to jail. There's no doubt about it. >> Is she drunk? >> I don't think she's drunk, but she's had a couple drinks for sure. Yeah, >> she's [ __ ] dude. She's [ __ ] We have six children. six and we finally got one day to ourselves and this happens. I'm sorry, dude. >> It's okay. >> I'm sorry, dude. >> It's okay. We just got to do it. >> This is our first nights, >> right? >> That is a huge problem. This is why I told her to pull into the Casey so we can Uber. >> Yeah, it's a little bit too late for that. >> As she was pulling, I was like, "Babe, you got you have a flat tire." She was like, "Oh, someone's behind us." I was like, "Yep, that's the Washington police." I told her, I'm like, "We're cooked. That's all there is to it." I'm like, "You're getting a DUI just for three beers and we're out of here. We're like so close to home." But I also hear that on every YouTube video that I watch of, you know what I mean? So, >> so feet together, arms out your side. Yep. >> No problems with your eyes. Correct. >> Y. >> You want to flick some of that hair out of your eyes for me? >> Sure. >> Perfect. So, what I want you to do, Courtney, you see the tip of my finger. >> What I want you to follow the tip of my finger with your eyes and your eyes only. Okay? >> You understand? Mhm. >> Okay. During the eye test, the officer noted several indicators commonly associated with impairment, including involuntary eye movement, difficulty smoothly tracking the stimulus, and eye movement beginning earlier than expected. >> You're good. You can relax. We're going to come back here now. Okay. >> Sure. >> Let's stand back here a little ways. Give yourself some room. Okay. >> Yeah. So using that line facing my squad car, what I want you to do for me, Courtney, is you put that left foot on that line with your right foot in front touching heel to toe and your arms down at your sides. Can you get >> to right? >> So right in front of your left touching heel to toe with your arms down at your sides. >> I'm sorry. Say that again. >> Okay, watch watch me as I do it. Okay, your left foot first on that line with your right foot in front touching heel to toe with your arms down at your sides. So go ahead and maintain that position until I instruct you to do otherwise. Do you understand? >> Yes. Okay. So you may begin. >> 1 2 3 4 5 6 7. >> Perfect. All right. >> Yeah. >> Next one. Again, just face me. Feet together. Arms at your sides. >> Yeah. >> All right. So, for this test, I want you to pick up whichever foot you feel more comfortable with. Okay. >> Do you understand? Yeah. >> Do you have any questions? >> No. >> Okay. You may begin. >> All right. Look at your foot. >> This is hard. >> Can you count? Remember? >> 1,00 2,000 3,000 4,000 5,000 6,000 >> Take it back up. >> Sorry. >> You're okay. >> 1,000. >> All right. Go ahead and put your foot down for me. Let's walk over. You're good. You can stop. >> During the walk and turn test, the officer noted balance issues and difficulty maintaining heel totoe steps. On the one leg stand, he observes swaying and trouble keeping her foot elevated during the test. Following the fields, they now move on to the preliminary breath test where the officer appears to believe she's intentionally not blowing properly into the device. >> Have you ever proided a preliminary breath test before? >> No. >> Wrap your lips and blow hard. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go. >> I feel like that's not how we blow a balloon up. >> Okay, let's try it again and blow a little harder. Okay, >> blow, go, go, go, go, go. >> I don't need this. I don't care to have this. >> I just have to do it requirement for my policy. So, can you just blow for me? >> Thank you. >> Sure. >> Before we see this, do you know what the legal limit is in the state of Illinois? >> 08.08. Okay. >> Yeah. Before I look at this myself, you are going to be placed under the rest for DUI tonight. Okay. >> Why? >> This says 172. Before this even come up, I knew you were under the influence. Okay. Like I told you, I just have to do this. This isn't. So, can you just turn around for me and put your hand behind your back? >> Yeah. >> You guys can deal with them. >> All right, man. So, she's getting arrested for DUI. So, this car is getting towed. Okay. And we're going to give you right back to Hillrest. What's her bac >> 172? >> So, I mean, she's she's pretty drunk, right? She's almost twice legal limit. Are you cold? >> I'm good, dude. I'm drunk as [ __ ] so you're good. >> Where did you guys hit the curb at? Do you know? >> I know. I I'm going to be honest. >> This is probably what happened. You probably were on your >> Cam on. Came on. >> Camera's on. Yeah. >> You don't have to say anything. You don't want to >> You're fine. >> Honestly, I don't know. I She left me uh Kirks. She left you there by yourself. >> Yeah, she was she was upset because I told her she'd be a little flirtatious to somebody. >> Oh, okay. You got in a fight, huh? >> I said, "Hey, >> is this your first?" >> Yeah. >> First you see >> What's your phone number, my man? >> With all due respect, why you need all my information, >> man? Cuz it's going home. You're going to be in a police report, buddy? Why do I have to be in the police report though? >> It's It's not going to be anything bad. It's just going to be you or other person. But like, >> okay, you don't >> ask me questions. I need a lawyer. Dude, >> you're not under arrest. You don't need a lawyer. I mean, that's >> why do you need my number? >> It's just for the police. You don't have to give it to me. >> I get that, dude. >> You don't have to give it to >> I'm not trying to disrespect y'all, but I'm a truck driver. I don't do [ __ ] on you, dude. >> The woman was ultimately arrested and charged with DUI alcohol along with a citation for unsafe equipment related to the damaged vehicle. According to the report, she later refused to provide an additional breath sample at the police department after initially blowing a.172 on scene after she was taken into custody. One of the officers gave her husband a ride home from the scene. What are your thoughts on this case? Please leave a like, subscribe, and comment your thoughts below.
