On January 5th, 2025, around 1:00 p.m., officers responded to an apartment complex in Orange City, Florida after receiving multiple 911 calls about a domestic disturbance. Before officers could even make it to the apartment, they were met outside by the woman's father who appeared exhausted by the couple's toxic behavior. How's it going? They're arguing upstairs. I don't know if he's hitting her or what, but I hear a lot of noise in the room, banging. Where are they now? In the apartment? >> Yeah, I need to come in the room, man. He doesn't pay anything here. Yeah, he lives here. Oh, he lives here? How long has he lived here? Um, 7 months. Oh, wow. Does he pay any rent or anything? It's in my daughter's name, though. According to the report, the couple had been together for approximately 7 years and had recently been living together in the same apartment. And as you'll hear throughout the video, this is definitely not an isolated incident. What happened to your face? She scratched me. Yeah, I'm trying to defend myself. You had a knife. You had a knife. >> You had the knife. You're the one that come in. Her friend is going to lie for every time. Look, I did not touch her at all. She did it first. I had a knife. You were here I can show you the videos. You wanted to walk in and then you can walk with them. She has bruises on her body. He literally hit Where's the bruises? Where did I hit her at? Did I charge you with a Did I charge Can you You guys really want TO DO THIS? HEY GREG, can you tell the truth? Are you going to tell the truth? I was there. I was outside. >> Okay. But honest Greg, when you were in the house, did I charge at her once? Tell the truth, Greg, please. This is a serious matter right now cuz now you got her talking with a deadly weapon, Greg. Tell me you're a liar. Sir, can we get another officer so we can all talk? She was trying to defend herself because he was in the room literally like saying, "Mhm. Yeah. Yeah." This is the other day when you were here. Look. Not doing nothing. You You the same problem last year. This is getting ridiculous, she hit me. I didn't do nothing this time. I'm tired of going to jail. I told you that I'm tired of going to jail do about nothing, dude. I'm so tired of that, bro. Okay, go talk to him. I'm going to chat with your girl, okay? I'm I'm a witness for sure. This is the woman's friend who claims to have witnessed the entire altercation. However, according to the report, the officer did not view her as an independent witness due to her close relationship with the woman and potential bias in this situation. >> And I literally came here to >> And you know both of them? Yeah. Friends with both? Yes. Well, I'm not friends with I do not like him. I do not support what he does to her at all. Nobody likes him. Why does she keep coming back here? He said that they couldn't kick him out because he has um mail coming here. He abuses her. That she has That she has to um physically evict him or go to the court and Where's the knife at that he was chasing you with? It's upstairs. Where is it? Where is it right now? I don't know. He's a liar and a narcissist. >> And do you have your ID on you? I've had multiple I've had multiple no contact orders. I have multiple I've dropped cases because you know I wanted to try to give him a chance, but I'm not stupid. >> What What did he say when he was chasing you with the knife? Well, he he was trying to [ __ ] he was he was I don't remember exactly what he said. But he's fighting with me. He took my keys. He's ripping my stuff up. He has a knife like But Okay, so And she literally was the first Was he chasing you with the knife? >> Yes. Yes. And he was so it felt as if it was a threat. >> Yes. Yes. No, absolutely. What kind of knife was it? It's like a like a kitchen knife. Like a It's like a thin I'm going to walk up there with you, okay? At this point, pay close attention to the details being described as the officer continues questioning everyone involved. Different types of knives begin getting mentioned, something that will become important later in the investigation. Give me 1 minute. Right hand of God, I'm not lying about nothing. It's her birthday. She did not come home last night. That's how it started. She stayed out all night. She said, "I'm coming home. She said where's my outfit? I said it wasn't her. I hid the outfit last night when I came home. Okay. >> This is the honest truth. Okay, ready. Started with me. Oh, where's my outfit? Then I locked myself in the closet. She went and that's when she got the knife. I started ripping her stuff up. I took it from her. Her friend was sitting on the living room couch the whole time. Her friend and I didn't like her dad. He was like, "Oh, you guys always arguing. I'm tired of this. That's why I called you guys. I called you guys. I'm the one that called you guys." And if you listen to the call, she said, "Help, he won't give me the keys." Now today you're mad cuz the house is ripped up and you're mad cuz I called the police and I said we'll lose everything. Now you guys are all trying to team up on me. I have the marks and I even have the videos right here the other day. 20th the other day the 28th when he came out here and I said enough of this. She left here. He was like >> So you're the one that called 911? Yes, sir. Cuz she was They were trying to tag team me, man. They do this to me every time, so. The officer enters his vehicle to review the call details, which confirm that the male subject did in fact call 911, but later told dispatch he did not need assistance after initially hanging up. It says you didn't need help. That's what 911 That's what the I And I canceled the call. And then 911 was like, "Oh, we got to send someone here because she's in the background saying I want my keys. He stole my car." So I said, "You know what? Just send them through." Soon as I came outside, you were talking to dad and that's when they ran out cuz they didn't want me to see them. Dad wasn't even going to tell you guys nothing. Dad was just going to say they're in a verbal argument. That's it. They didn't want to They didn't come out start telling them until I came out here. They was getting She was going to go to jail. Then I came out here talking. I'll be right back. All right, let's take a walk upstairs. >> this She stayed the night with me last night because he was hurting her. And then he said cuz he's So he didn't say anything to you. He just had the knife and was Was he running at you? Walking at you? Yes. And he He took me by my [ __ ] neck and snatched the boots out my hand. Started slicing the boots according to me in my closet. Like he's He's a natural Who originally had the knife? He did. He did. >> He did. Only thing I did is I took a kitchen knife cuz he locked me out my room. I unlocked my door. I took the kitchen knife. I placed it down. He starts charging at me. Charging at me trying to take my outfit away from my hands. He snatches the boots out of my hands with the money out of her bank bank account. And then what is the what is the mark on his finger come from? >> Bro, he from the the knife that he had. Cuz she was trying to defend herself. She was she was trying to bring it away from him. Okay. Like she was trying to get it away from like this so she he doesn't stab her. You guys go first. And he's and he told him he was like, "I'mma call the cops if you keep hitting my daughter." Like he would not stop and I'm not I don't want to get into it cuz he he put his gun to my face before a long time ago. I told her to stay the night at my house last night but she said she was too scared to go home cuz he was already threatening threatening me. Let's go into the apartment. I want to see the knife. You guys have children together? No. No. Whose child is that? Her son. So that's not with this with him? >> No, absolutely not. Hell no. The officer conducts a search of the residence for nearly 10 minutes with both women assisting in an effort to locate the knives mentioned in the statements. The kitchen knives claimed to have been used are located inside the closet but the pocket knife allegedly involved in the incident is not found. I would like to get that knife though because that's evidence. Cuz he told he could come in and Well, he just lied. No, he doesn't lie. Well, then the knife and the keys have to be on him. It has to be on him or not? Can you can you continue looking and stuff like that? I'll be right back. What what knife did you use? I That's when I took the kitchen knife from her. When she first pulled it I took it out. I That's That's what I had. She had the boots in her hand. That's when I was like this and I put the knife right on top of on top of the thing in there. So you don't have a you don't have an army pocket knife? I don't have a pocket knife. The pocket knife has been in the house forever. I didn't use no pocket knife. I used the kitchen knife she used. They found it? Okay. Now they have it. I didn't tell you what knife I used. I used the kitchen knife that I put on top of the closet where it was just at. But what happened to this pocket knife come into play? This The pocket knife has been home. I didn't touch no pocket knife today. The pocket knife stayed in the house. And how did she end up with a cut on her hand? I don't know how she got her cut. She would have came outside and showed you, but how did I have this? I was fighting her. She was poking me first, and that's how I snatched it out when we were fighting for the knife. And then that's when she came like that and it hit me right here. She hit me first with the knife. That's how it all started. I'm fighting her. >> This was a video from the 20 8th when she was poking me through the trying to poke me through the door with the knife. After getting the full scope of how chaotic things actually are, the officer asks the question that we're all thinking. I don't know why you guys just don't fight your ways because this is a nightmare. Do you get me in this every day? It all >> Cuz I've been out here a couple times. I was in here a couple three times. I went and locked myself in the closet. That's what she did. She kicked in the door with the knife and she came at me like this and that's when I grabbed it like this. That's when she poked it and sliced me right here. And I don't know if I did or the knife went like that to me. That's when I grabbed the knife. And I said, "Okay." I went like this. I had to do to my hand. That's when she had to do to her hand. She tried to swing the knife. That's when I sliced this. With the house knife. No pocket knife, the house knife. She went and got another knife when I locked myself back in the closet. Did it again. And that's when I ripped the outfit and then she came in the door. What made you get a knife? I took the knife out of her hand. I never had no knife. But you said there was two knives. That she I took the first one and she went back in the kitchen and tried to got another knife and opened the closet door again. >> makes sense. So you were cut by on your finger there and And that's the hole from the poke. I didn't do nothing to her so I don't Do you have any other marks? Uh both right here and this one. And that? Yeah, they're like I told him the other day from the 23rd when I got bit right there. It's a dead mark. So you were in the closet and she came to attack you basically. Yes, I locked myself in there like this. You can go look. When did the mark on your lip come from? That's from her. Fingernail scratch? I called you guys cuz I'm tired of going to jail messing up my record for something that I'm not doing. And like I told him, I'm here for the kids. I have nowhere to go right now. I've been saving so I can leave. Mhm. I honestly been saving so I can leave. Yeah, it's a tough spot. The officers then attempt to sort through the conflicting statements from everyone involved, noting several inconsistencies as details begin to vary depending on who's speaking. So, her story didn't add up because she said that there was the army knife involved that I have. And she was it somewhere around here and she starts kicking all the doors around and stuff. It wasn't, it was under the bed where he said. That's why I asked him where was it where was the knife. She had no idea where it was. Said that was involved. That's what he used to cut her hand. She supposedly she went at him with it. I mean, he went at her with it uh to get the clothes back from her who was slicing it up. No, it's just on her on her fingers, right hand. So, if it's the woman, how how are you going to try to stop the knife from coming at you? Yep. So, if he's coming at you and you're you're trying to take it away, aren't you going to grab for it? Mhm. That's true. And and on the the 911 call, that's why I I'm pushing towards the taking them both because it said that she's yelling help and he's saying we don't need we don't need you guys. And obviously they're going to team up with their friend. That's why I said I'm not going to get a statement from you guys. It's worthless. That knife right there, did you get that from under the bed? Yeah. Was it was it right there next to the ice cream wrapper? Mhm. That's where it was. Right there next to that under the bed with the ice cream wrapper. Because the kids are going out there so that's why I keep it under the bed so they don't let them go out there. And where was the friend seated at? On the couch. Her back was towards the window right next to our screen door, the little back door. >> So, she didn't see any of it? She didn't see any of it. Right in that's right hand on everything. Let me ask you that. Ma'am. Although the officer clearly states he's not relying on the woman's friend as as witness, he still asks her a few follow-up questions. During that exchange, she brings up additional details that add another layer to the conflicting accounts already being given. Where were you sitting at when this all transpired? I was in the living room and then once I got up I was sitting on the couch, I went to the room. So you saw everything? I seen everything from beginning to finish. And what did you see again? Can you just tell me again what you saw? So once we we walked in, she's asking him where's my stuff, where's my keys. He locks the door. She um goes in the kitchen, uses my prize it open. All I hear is like tumbling so I run over to the room and he literally is on top of her in the closet. So I guess she had already got the the closet already open cuz he did close it. Then he called 911. After he called 911, he hung up. He went back in the room. She went in there she was like, "I just want my keys. I just want my stuff so I can go." Charged her with a knife. The small one, not the big one. But then he came back out with a big knife and then >> At what point did you did the clothes get cut then? Um when he was coming out the room. So that wasn't the reason she barred in the room in the first place. No, she No, she was trying to she was going to get her stuff and then she has text messages of him threatening her. She has it on her phone? >> Yeah, on her phone. You have texts on the phone of him threatening you? All night. All night. >> Any today? Yes. I'm going to show you where he says, "I'm going to make you regret it." You think today is going to go good? It's not cuz I'm with all the [ __ ] [ __ ] Hope it's worth it cuz you going to regret when I do dirt don't be mad. Laugh now, cry later. But since you want to play these games, you thought you was hurt before and now I'm going to show you. That sounds like a threat to me. Go get new outfits and shoes since you want to lie and disrespect. Well, that's not a threat. Go get a new outfit. >> that's not a threat but but but this is This is I you going to regret it. That's a threat. Laugh now, cry later. Like I literally have bruises from last week when he beat me up. I hope this is the last time. This is the last time. I need a restraining order on him. I need a no contact order. He has to get out of my life, bro. I can't keep doing this. 3 years. I can't keep doing this. She never let you back in when you got the lock changed. Like the time when he slashed your tires. Yeah. Let me see your hand and mark again. And you [snorts] don't remember how that happened. That's when I was trying to defend myself when he I was in the closet and he had the knife to me. Uh raise your right hand, please. You swear and affirm everything's true and correct in the statement provided. Yes. Good. So, you already signed. Okay, that's fine. I'll be right back, okay? This is all over the place. This is This is just all over the place. It's It's both parties here. All right. Cuz she's going to deny the knife and the story. She He He described right where it's at because that's where it gets kept. But then But then who knows if he's smart enough to put it back in the spot he got it from. I'm not buying either of this. Yeah, but he just took the knife. Mhm. No. All right, Marquise. So, you guys are both taking a ride, all right? It's just how it's going to go today because the stories are all over the place and she's saying you hit her, you're saying she hit you, which I'm not denying the fact of that. He just double locked him in the closet, thank you, brother. Melissa, come over here for a minute. Jans, mind your back. You guys are both taking a ride today because he's saying you hit him, you're saying he hit you, so I can't differentiate you from the two. I don't even have a witness right now. It's biased parties, so Why? It's my birthday. 11 Delta 71 10. You You have anything on you, do you? The officer ultimately determined it was difficult to establish a clear primary aggressor due to the conflicting statements and limited evidence on scene. As a result, both parties were arrested and charged with simple battery. The case was documented and forwarded for review. What are your thoughts on this case?
