Should have taught you better. >> On July 17th, 2025, officers with the Naperville Police Department were conducting bike patrol in downtown Naperville when they were approached by a woman who claimed she had just been shot at by what she believed was a pellet gun fired from a passing vehicle while walking near the local Starbucks. The victim provided a description of the car and its occupants, and less than 20 minutes later, officers spotted a vehicle matching that description inside a nearby parking garage. >> Well, we got a report of a black sedan with the front passenger in a red sweatshirt shooting people with BBs. What's that? You weren't shooting BB gun? Not at all? So, would you mind us checking to see if you have a BB gun? What's that? I'm not searching your car? Okay. Okay. And although the object that was initially believed to be a pellet gun turned out to be an Orbeez gun, the victim reported being struck in the head. And the responding officer documented a welt on her upper right forehead consistent with being hit by a projectile. All right, we can see it in plain view. >> Okay, then it's a [ __ ] Orbeez gun. According to the report, the search also uncovers marijuana products. And as the inventory of items will continue to grow, it becomes clear that the Orbeez gun may end up being the least of this group's concerns. Alcohol. >> Tara was arrested and charged with attempted obstructing justice and resisting an officer along with a list of additional charges stemming from the illegal items located inside the vehicle. Her fiance was also taken into custody after the victim positively identified him as the person responsible for firing the Orbeez gun from the vehicle. The man later admitted during questioning that he was the one who shot the Orbeez gun and acknowledged that he was aware the victim had been struck in the head.
