See how they used to get pulled out of the car because he a retired cop. That don't mean you can do that. >> Yeah, I agree. You know how bad of a decision you guys just made, all right? Your dad is in a bad spot cuz he's a cop or former cop. Or he pulled the firearm, all right? Right? All right, what's going on? >> My daughter's in the back. She got beat up over the night. He just peeked out of the door. I was going to throw handcuffs on him, but he ran back in. >> Okay. You think that's probably the safest thing? So, obviously your emotions are high, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Let's get your daughter over here. Does he have any >> She She's in the back with my son. >> All right, let's get them both over here. >> Officers with the Alsip Police Department responded to a residence for a delayed domestic battery report. But as you'll soon see, the situation escalates into much more as the victim's family decides to take matters into their own hands. The woman alleges that her boyfriend assaulted her throughout the night while preventing her from leaving the home. The responding officer first heads to the rear parking lot to speak with her, where she shows him several visible injuries she says were caused during the incident. >> All right, you're going to be okay. Can you follow me? All right, guys, let's uh try to keep calm, all right? Let's not try to hurt nobody. I understand that our stress is high. I don't want to get anyone else getting in trouble, all right? There's a firearm involved, which is not safe, correct? >> All right, I'm going to move my >> going to get the ambulance over here and check her out, okay? >> Okay. I'll be careful. He's right there in that hall. >> All right, I got my sergeant right there. >> All right. I'm going to move my uh truck. >> Sounds good. So, I got her dad and brother over in the back. They're a little ani- mated. Apparently uh fenders in the hallway. I have not seen him. I'm sending ambulance this way to check on her. So, we just got to keep an eye on them cuz dad has a firearm. He's a retired CPD. >> Right. >> But telling him not to shoot somebody. >> What's the story? Did you get the story about what happened? >> Not yet. I just walked over here and saw you and just started to fill you in. >> Okay. So, what happened? >> Um I was cooking >> You were cooking a two-pound Hey! That's your fault. >> Put the gun down now. Put the gun down. What is wrong with you? What is wrong you know if you're an officer you know better. You know better. All right, get out of here. Get out of here. Dad tried to pull a gun on him. Send dad away. 722 from 702 father and son are now leaving the scene. >> Actually, they won't be leaving the scene anytime soon. And when they finally do, it won't be under the circumstances they anticipated. The sergeant does his best to de-escalate the situation and for a moment it seems like tensions are beginning to settle, but that moment won't last. >> Dad, come here. Don't do this. >> I'm just looking for a phone. >> A phone? >> Yeah. >> Did you drop a phone? >> He threw a phone. >> Who threw a phone? >> The boy threw it. >> Okay, where did he throw a phone at? >> it out the front window. Right here, look right here. >> So, you threw the phone this way? >> I don't know. >> You can take her there. >> I'm going to retire soon. >> Yeah, go take her there. Yeah, I know. You got to act better. >> I'm sorry. I apologize. >> Well, we don't get anywhere. You've done the job long enough it looks like, so let's make sure we're on the same page. I get it. I get it, but you know, actions >> I know. >> like that are not going to help the situation, okay? We want the best outcome for all this. >> I I do. >> You don't want to catch yourself up in cuffs, okay? That's the last thing you want being retired going through this nonsense and end up in a suburban end up in cuffs. You don't want that. So, she's going to go get checked up by my ambulance crew right now. Make sure she's okay. That's what she's doing right now. They're going to take a look at her. They're not leaving. I have nothing You want to go talk to her? By all means you can go talk to her. Yes, but you're the father. I'll walk around out here and look for a phone. If I come with anything, I'll bring it over to her. >> You don't want to go in? >> We're we're going to debate something. I'm we're going to once we get to a situation where we're at that level, we'll get there. As of right now, we're taking both doors. Everything's good to go. Okay, that's that's fine. That's probably the best option. >> According to the victim and her family, the boyfriend had also taken and broken her phone, leaving her unable to call for help while the incident was unfolding. And although you have yet to meet the man at the center of those allegations, he'll show himself shortly as he will soon walk straight into the trouble he's been trying to avoid. >> I don't doubt that. We've seen a lot of those interference with 911 calls. >> So with this would be a little evidence to show, right? >> Go ahead. That's what I'm calling with that. Absolutely. >> That's how she couldn't She was trapped in here all night and couldn't come out. What's happening, Carl? >> I just heard a bunch of commotion. >> She She I wish she would have called, man, cuz he took the phone so she couldn't call through the night. >> What did he hit you with? His hand? >> Well, head ain't usually this big. And her back and and the broom. >> And the what? Okay. Where did he hit you with the broom? >> Like all over here. Right here. >> Okay. Do you want to sign complaints or >> Yes, please. >> Do you want to sign complaints? Yes. Okay. >> After gathering statements from everyone involved, officers finally come face to face with the man they've been waiting for. But instead of identifying himself, he attempts to walk away. And within seconds, the victim's father and brother approach him. >> The male subject sitting on the ground has a bike. Male final sure yelling and fighting. He is >> Are you hurt? >> No. >> Okay. Hey, Eric. Both of you back up. Hey, you. What's up? Back up. >> Back the [ __ ] up. >> Both of you back the [ __ ] up. Both of you back up. Back up. Get into this. Back up. Both of you. Back up. What are you doing? We are not getting into this. You're going to stop it. >> Back up. >> Yes, my brother. >> No, don't >> Yes, I will go. >> 704 >> You got to stop. >> It's not worth it. Not worth it. Not worth it. >> Get out of the car. Put your hands behind your back. Ain't worth it right now. Got it? >> Beat the [ __ ] out of you, whole ass. Put your hands on my sister again. >> You think you my daughter's ass. >> Hey, put your hands behind your back. What the >> What, bro? What I'm getting detained. What the >> Yeah, I'm telling you right now. Put your hands behind your back. That's all you got to know. >> Y'all in here just juicing. Y'all just did all that on Dart like >> Nah, you did all that to my sister. What you mean? >> Ask her what she did to me. Woke up at 4:00 this morning. I ain't did [ __ ] to her. >> Why are you doing that now, sis? >> What she do? >> Relax. >> I ain't put my hands on her. She hit me. I hit her. >> Who was you? >> You hit her? >> That's your >> family. >> My bad. I know. >> My sister, bro. >> I I know. [laughter] I got camera. You know what I mean? >> Yeah. >> All right. >> Ain't nothing going on. I ain't do nothing to her, bro. >> All right, we got a domestic right? We just had a fight, right? So, you going to do this, right? Here come to my car. >> I got to go, bro. This is my Uber right here, gang. I ain't got [ __ ] going on with them on Dart like You my Uber driver, right? Right? I got to go, bro. >> He doesn't seem to understand that leaving is no longer an option. At this point, officers are trying to juggle both the domestic battery investigation and the separate confrontation that just unfolded right in front of them. And as they'll later explain, although the victim's father swung and missed, her brother did not. >> Step on out. I got you. You ain't going to I ain't going to let you fall. I promise you that. Tracy, you're a big man. I got you. What I'm going to do is I'm going to grant you the respect that's given. I'm going to put these cuffs on in front of you, sir. Okay? I mean, I I'll give you that. But what we did right here >> Yeah, I know. >> You know what we did was wrong. Taking a swing at somebody is not the best fit. So, you sit right here. You turn around. Keys are Where's your pistol at? >> It's in my truck. It's in the truck. >> Yeah. >> He's retired. He decided to take a swing on the guy that swung on his daughter. >> You would do the same thing, though. >> I know. The problem is you did it with a cop right here. I get it. Trust me, I got sisters. The only problem you had is we were here. You know what I mean? >> Yeah, I see. >> All right. Got to stand up. >> Yeah. Yeah, bet you know what. >> Yeah. >> Just walk with me this way. >> He's never done anything in his life. >> Who's that, your daughter? >> My son's daughter. >> Can't take a swing at a dude with two cops standing around him. So, that's the problem that we're running into. I'm going to tell you the same thing I told your dad. I understand the reasoning. I disagree with the process. All right? >> I got you. >> I know what you're going to do to stand up for your sister. I would do the same exact thing for my sister. Swinging on somebody in front of three cops not a smart idea. That's why both you and your dad are in cuffs, okay? Just so you understand it. >> What I miss? >> Good thought, bad action. I think Tracy can agree with that. Good thought, bad process. Had a little squabble She comes back here with Yeah, he's over there. And he's in custody over there as well. >> As you might expect, he has a very different version of events. While the victim describes hours of repeated abuse, he offers an entirely different explanation, not only for what happened the previous night, but also for the injuries officers observed on her, sharply contradicting nearly everything they've been told up to this point. >> That's my fiance over there. Although he's a police officer, he hate me, bro. >> All right, y'all are in El Monte. >> Long story short, she went through my phone this morning. You see she broke my other phone. You hear me? That's my phone. >> What What What phone? >> It's a phone over there in the [ __ ] bushes. She broke my phone, gang. >> Okay, I didn't know about that. >> I got to go to work, bro. I'm a manager at the store. I got to open up the store at 12:00. >> So, she was cooking at 2:00 in the morning, right? >> I was cooking. >> Okay. >> She in the room going through my phone. >> She's going through your phone? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Come pulling me. I had like all my [ __ ] jewelry sitting out. I just got my hair done. She [ __ ] me up, bro. Then it's like she just called them. And when I came outside, he's pulling guns out on me. When I get out, he get out on the ground. He's pulling out pistols. Listen, listen. I don't want to call y'all. He pulled out a gun on me. >> I I saw that. Like didn't you hear me yelling at them? >> He just punched me in my nose. They just hit me in my [ __ ] All type of [ __ ] >> Will you sign criminal complaints? >> No, I I just want to go to work, bro. >> You do not want to sign criminal complaints for them hitting you in the face. >> Nah, I ain't got time for that, bro. I'm just trying to get on so I can leave, bro. >> Okay, so you refuse? >> I ain't trying to put no paperwork on them, bro. I don't do all this police stuff, gang. Can you let me go so I can go with my day? >> No, no, we got to investigate. Definitely got to talk to these two though for doing nonsense, right? >> They just jumped on me, didn't they? >> Yeah, yes they did. Throw them both to ground? >> Yeah, you see them just hit me in my nose and [ __ ] right? >> I was here. So, again, she has a couple injuries, right? What happened to her? >> Bro, you got to understand. Whatever she just got into a fight with my BM. It's a lot of more [ __ ] going on, brother. Yesterday my baby mama yesterday I talked to her yesterday. >> Thursday? >> My baby mama yesterday I tried to do something good. When I came in the house I'm cooking for her. She followed my baby mama, bro. And she feel like I was siding with her. Now she want to go through my phone at 4:00 in the morning while I'm cooking for her to go to work. She see me talking to other [ __ ] She take off on me. You see how they is? She can pull out a pistol cuz she's a [ __ ] retired cop. That don't mean you can do that. >> Yeah, I agree. >> Officers returned to the victim to photograph and document her visible injuries in greater detail. Those injuries, combined with the lack of any apparent injuries on the boyfriend, are the very reason he'll soon be in a jail cell. >> So, you said through 10:00 to 6:00 he was fighting you on and off? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Came out fighting in the ambulance. >> Any injuries you have from last night? >> Um my toe here. >> Okay. >> Um my face doesn't look like this at all. >> Okay. >> I'm not sure if there's anything >> Yeah, on this side, yeah. >> And if I think that >> Okay. Is it this from night? Can you see that? Okay, let me get that. Do you guys have time for it? Has it always been violent? >> No. >> Okay. All right, he's not a good guy. So, you probably should cut ties with him. >> Absolutely. >> All right. We got domestic battery, battery, battery. I apologize for that. You have nothing to apologize for. Like I said, I understand the thought process. I disagree with the process. >> The sergeant spends a few minutes gathering additional background about the relationship. After hearing more about the history between the two, he joins in on a phone call to offer some candid advice. >> Does this Tierra live with you? >> Yeah. >> Okay, how long you been together? Yeah, they're not made for comfort. >> Oh, wait, hold on, my arm. Ah, [ __ ] >> Those things are not made for comfort. >> You said what to us? Bro, when I get when I walk outside, they up and pipes on me getting that get out on the ground. What the [ __ ] are you doing? And then if they see the police officer, he keeps pulling his [ __ ] gun out. >> You got a phone in your pocket? >> What do you mean? >> You want me to put it up here so you can talk to him easier? >> Yeah. >> Whoever this is, I'm putting the phone so he can hear it better. Maybe this relationship's over. >> It's over, bro. >> Okay, I think so. I think that would be the smartest thing. >> Yeah, I know already. That's what I don't understand. Like >> It's time to move on. How long you guys been together? >> 3 years. >> Okay. Kids together? >> No. >> You can cut ties and be done. Then cut ties. Cut them. Be done. Be like, this is it. We are not good together. It is it it is just it I'm we're in agreement then. Yeah, I'm with you, Eric. It's time to be done. >> Cuz he think he a ex police officer. They like, it ain't no gun, bro. The other cops seen him with his gun out. They seen him, got that [ __ ] freeze. Get out. What the [ __ ] you acting like you still a police officer? I'm talking about, get out. You ain't finna pop You ain't finna shoot me. Talking about, get out. Like you you ain't the police no more, bro. >> It's time to be done with that relationship, too. >> Yeah, this [ __ ] over. >> Yeah. You don't need this. I mean, just put this on the next guy that gets tied up with it. So, what Right now, we're going to get you out of here. All right? You're going to come with us to the station. We're going to ask you a little bit more questions. >> Who? >> You. I don't want them fighting you after that we leave. >> Bro, I'm going to get them. I got to go to work. >> All right. Well, I got to go. >> So, right now, she has a lot of injuries, right? >> Who? >> Your girl. She's saying it's from you. Nope. >> Hold on. Wait. >> Nope. >> I'm saying, look. I'm saying that >> Nope. >> No, I ain't I'm saying >> All right. I'm going to check you, all right? >> How I'm going to jail and they jumped on me? How I'm going to jail? >> This is for the previous incidents. >> What previous incident? They going to jail, too? >> No. >> No? >> So, you didn't want to sign the complaints? >> If I'm If I'm going to go to jail, hell yeah, I want to sign complaints, bro. They just jumped on me. I got to go. That ain't I ain't going like that, bro. Hell no. >> Okay. Apparently, we will have complaints. >> I'm I'm going to be They going to work. >> I know. We're going to I got your phone. >> be out? >> It's going to be a while. >> It's going to be a while. >> to be a while. We'll let you make phone calls when we get to the station. >> Girl, man, hell no. Hey, Tiara. Hey, Tiara. >> Get in the car, man. >> Hey, Tiara. [ __ ] ooh, I swear to God, she just lied, bro. But, I'm I got to go to jail. I got to go to jail. >> While the other officers transport all three individuals to the jail, one remains behind to walk through the residence and piece together exactly what happened. As you listen to the woman's account, you may notice a recurring pattern. All of the boyfriend's claims are essentially the reverse of the victim's. >> All right. He he had me right here and like grabbed my mouth, and that's where this blood came from. >> Okay. Did it start in the bedroom? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> He told me to come in cuz I was sitting out there. >> Yeah. >> Uh waiting on some of the food, and he said, "Come in here." >> Yeah. >> And he said it with aggression. >> Okay. >> I could already feel he was, you know, getting worked up. >> Yeah. >> So, I just came anyway cuz in the past, like he wouldn't hit me, but he'd like get in my face, ball his fists up, or he'd like get in my face and things like that. >> Right. >> So, I come in, and he like grabs my phone. He goes in my phone. Whatever upsets him upsets him. >> Mhm. >> He hits me, and then he like pushes me off the bed, is hitting me over here. Um it's like a splash right here >> Okay. >> is what he hit me with. >> Okay. Yeah. >> He's got a lot of hangers out, and he's hitting me with them. And then I was over here, that's when this happened, you know, trying to like fight him off. >> Mhm. >> And he got off me. >> Mhm. >> And he's off and he this [ __ ] and so he went in the kitchen. I didn't know if he's going to grab a knife or whatever, but he came with this thing. >> Okay. >> He just started hitting me with it. That's when he threw my phone. He said, "You ain't going nowhere. You can't call nobody. >> Mhm. >> Nobody going to come get you. Um if you want me to leave, you got to give me 500." >> In the end, Eric was arrested and charged with domestic battery. The victim's father and her brother were both charged with battery after the confrontation with Eric escalated in front of officers. Eric declined to pursue an aggravated assault complaint against the father related to the firearm incident. What are your thoughts on this case? Please leave a like, subscribe, and comment your thoughts below. Thanks for watching. >> All right, let's take out the two licenses, right? All right, let's take out the two licenses, right? >> And now here we are together. >> [laughter] >> It's what it feels like. Exactly what it feels like. Uh he would grab them, but missed on his swing, so physical contact, but we'll note missed on the swing, and then we'll note that Junior did not miss. Junior landed it.
