So, somebody's allowed to get assaulted in here? >> This conversation between me and you is over. Oh, I don't want to hear your [ __ ] When we're drunk, we don't make good decisions. Yeah, who is that lady over there? I don't know. Reach in your pocket. >> Okay. Ma'am, I will take you. >> Get your hands off me. You cannot touch me. I cannot be rough with my mother, though. Ma'am, I will take you into custody Well, I haven't done anything. How am I obstructing? I haven't even I want his bike. I don't disagree, but I was probably a little cocky and a little bit of an ass. I can be that way. On July 3rd, 2025, around 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a fight at a local bar in Washington, Illinois. At first, it seemed like a routine disturbance, an argument that briefly turned physical before one of the men left the scene. But you'll want to stick around for this one because that was far from the end. The man who left decides to come back, bringing others with him and creating even bigger problems, turning a simple call into a chaotic situation that ultimately ends with multiple people in cuffs. What was going on? You guys were physically fighting? No. A little bit? No. Well, they have cameras, so you want to be honest. Okay. Nothing physical. Nothing physical. Nothing physical. He's being very loud and I'm not supposed to talk to him and be quiet. He's making fun of the special needs kid that works here and I just kept it kept escalating. He said he's going to beat my ass in the parking lot is what he said. Okay. Is he gone, though? Like I don't want to leave. Uh there's an officer out looking for him, but yeah, he left. We'll see what we can do, but Do you have an idea on you? Yeah. And he was saying he was saying to like this kid here like he was saying something. And he was like, "Not to marry." Cuz he's like a sweet and mild, you know? And he was not telling him marry. Matthew back there. He was getting kind of like offensive, you know? And when he was like And he was like, "Please, like calm down." And then the guy was like, "I'll beat you." So, he told him to be quiet and he was being nice and he And he was like, "I'll fight you." And he popped up and tried to punch him. Nothing physical there. Okay. I'm assuming you were sitting here the whole time with your dog. Okay. Just hang up for a second, okay? As long as it wasn't physical, we'll get you guys out of here, okay? So, give me a few minutes. Although the man insists nothing was physical, his girlfriend seemed to disagree. And officers note the inconsistency as they wait for the owner to provide them with the CCTV footage of the altercation. And the inconsistency is quickly confirmed once they hit play. He's trying to tell me it's not physical and his girlfriend >> like the black male was but it sounds like the black male was aggressive first. Do you have a plate number? Yes, we can get the plate number. I don't probably can tell you his name cuz he's a friend of the guy in the kitchen. I don't know if the guy in the kitchen's going to tell me. You got it. Okay. What are you saying? Yeah, well, my husband was actually believing and was all in my husband's face then and So, from what a witness told me, he was talking to the man and the white male started chiming in, yelling at him, telling him to shut up. That's what I've gathered, but the black male sounds like he was the aggressor in terms of physical physicality. Do we know who he is? No. He said the kitchen. Well, I might be able to find out who he is, but I don't want them to know I'm why I'm here. Right, right, right, right. These cameras suck. Just had it and now it's going to happen in a second. Awesome. All right, there you go. So, the white guy put his hands on him first? >> Yep. So, he walks over, but look. I got the white guy totally pushing him back. Wait, does he tell him to walk away first or You can have battery and assault. Or assault on the black guy. >> guy and then battery on the black guy. Yeah, the white guy totally put his hands on him first. With no clear way to identify the man who fled, officers speak with the employee the owner mentioned. But as she suspected, he isn't very willing to cooperate. Let's go, sir. You're going to arrest you cuz you're the only black guy. Man, I imagine it's tough. It's tough. Yeah, no kidding. Do you know the other gentleman that we called? Uh I do side work for him. Drive a lot of places. Yeah, the phone number for him that we called? I I don't. I just I just work for him. How do you get a hold of him for work? Uh he calls my phone, but I don't save his number. So, yeah, Andre, that's The Andre guy? I don't know his last name. All good. I'll call him in. I'll figure it out. Thank you. Okay. I don't know I don't know what the deal happened after. With him clearly withholding information, the officers have no way to identify the missing man. But it won't be long before that problem solves itself when he decides to come back. In the meantime, officers speak with the employee who was at the center of the initial argument. It's revealed that the man who left had been making offensive comments toward him, which led to the confrontation that started it all. Hi, guys. Hi, how are you? How's your job going? Pretty good. How are you? Good. My dream is to become a cop. That's awesome. Start at it. Get to work. Not actually a cop. I'm hoping you didn't think I was. You get to work and you just walked back. I meant like You're flying with us. I'm going to write him for this one. All right. All right, we're going to go hang out by this officer's squad, okay? Okay. I can say Andre worked there. Have a good night, okay? Have a good night, okay? Make sure you don't drive. If I would have just left, I wouldn't have even got a ticket. It's not true. Just like that guy. No, we're still working on finding him. He won't get away. Okay. He should not be driving whatever he was on. That is He's like on crack or meth or something. Yep. Have a good time, but you're also drunk. You shouldn't be driving either, so don't judge. The man was cited for disorderly conduct and released. But this incident is far from over. About 10 minutes later, the owner called police and reported that the man who initially fled has returned and is causing a scene. What's up, man? Neil. Yeah, what's up? What's crazy is put your hands behind your back for me. Stop. Put your hands behind your back. Stop. Put your hands behind your back for me. Don't fight or you're going to go on the ground. You got it? I want to press charges on the guy. Please, hands on me. What's assault? Oh god, you are full Yep. You are full of It's warm outside, man. He has done The guy put his hands on me. >> Yeah, we arrested him. He put his hands on me. >> We arrested him. Okay. But you're coming back here. No, I'm coming back. Let's go. Go. Absolutely. So, somebody's allowed to get assaulted in here? >> He was arrested. Okay, I came back because of the police. He was arrested. So, why did you guys come back? >> Because he wanted to press charges on him. He pressed charges. >> Okay. For assault. Can we talk over here for a second? Okay, thank you. I just wanted to press charges. Okay, can we talk over here? And I got witnesses on my phone. That's it? You're detained for now just because of how you were acting when we showed up, okay? >> it's that guy. Well, he was already arrested. Okay, well. So, you guys could have called and said he drove here drunk. He's not drunk. >> Okay. So, In your mind he is. You don't know it. I can smell it. You know how many DUIs I've done in my career? I don't know. Over a hundred. And? >> hundred, okay? And? So, I can smell it on him. He drove here. So, this conversation between me and you is over. So, now we have to deal with him. Okay? And if you And? If you interfere, >> allowed Oh, I don't want to hear your [ __ ] If you interfere, I'm going to arrest you. For what? For obstruction. >> For what? I'm not obstructing you. >> I'm going over there. I'm not obstructing you. >> right now because you're taking my attention off him. >> have two officers over there. Okay, and I'm a sergeant yes. Sergeant Morty, yes. No, you're not sergeant I actually decided for the Washington Police Department, so yes, I am. Have a nice day. Yes, you see he grabbed Hey, do you want me to arrest you? You're going to arrest you for obstruction of a cop. Yep. Although the sergeant makes it clear that the conversation is over, it's far from finished. She'll be back and next time it escalates even further. First, officers turn their attention to the man and it won't be long before they uncover a few surprises. Okay. The guy was being racist. Okay. All I came back to do was y'all was called and I was here to follow up. >> Okay, and we saw video and we agree that And yeah, you see he grabbed Okay, so why are we doing Who is that to you? That's my mother-in-law. Okay. Mother-in-law, okay. Can we >> All I was doing was following up, so I came back. Okay. And to file charges on him. I appreciate that. >> That's it. And we needed a victim. And I'm the [ __ ] victim. Yes. Yes, so I don't know why you're doing this. >> because because the other guy in there trying to What? But that's not us, right? >> No, you [ __ ] no. Y'all didn't do nothing to me. Do you want me to Can we go over by the squad car? Yeah, come on. All right. Yeah, that's all I did was like He literally assaulted me for no [ __ ] reason. So, from Yeah, it was bull Hey, it was [ __ ] Can you tell me what happened? Okay. I I think he just was mad I was having a good time in the establishment he was at. And it's a guy that the world calls slow, but I call it a gift because I got a son that's got a gift. So, I'm talking to him, I'm like, "Man, you got a girlfriend?" He like, "Yeah, I got one." So, I made him get a He like, "No." I said, "Man, look, man." And he spit on your hand and you know So, Oh my. I don't know why that offended the other So, what did he say when you like when >> I need to shut the [ __ ] up. I need to get out. Okay, and then what? Got up and [ __ ] grabbed him. No, he said something to me. He told me I need to shut the [ __ ] up. Right, I'm just trying to clarify. I'm not saying you're in trouble. I'm not in trouble cuz I know, but I just don't need you to know. I know, but I just don't need you to As the investigation continues, officers make a few discoveries that make you question why the man decided to come back to the scene. He's revoked? He's revoked? Yes. Oh, okay, there you go. Yeah. All right, cool. You know what? You want to do something about the vehicle? That's up to you guys. I'm cool with whatever you guys want to do. He's not leaving here and his bike's pointed to total car loss. I got to ask if he drove. I mean, obviously he drove. Yeah, he drove. So I'm going to write him for a revoked. So, how did he touch you? Like >> On my shoulder. He tried to throw me. He tried to get He tried to throw me. Okay. And then he couldn't move. I said that was wrong mistake with him. Hey Grohi. Yeah. Take him in. Okay. Um Yes, I Do you want him Do you want him? Yes, I He wanted to tell Oh, yeah, he resists. Oh, yeah. So, if you want to do that, you can. You think he's even going to cooperate? I don't know, but he said he's revoked, so you can go that route, too. Also, he came back. Yeah. Yes. So, just his drunk. Yeah. Because he's drunk. When we're drunk, we don't make good decisions. Who is that lady over there? I don't know. You don't know who that No, but I yelled at her. So, you are charging him for being drunk? Yes, I do. That's battery. And he was already charged with disorderly conduct. Which we told you, okay? Did you just go out and get your mother-in-law that we told you to Yeah, I did. Okay. Who is doing the DUI aspect? She is. All right, awesome. Okay. So, now he's going to float out because we've got two other things. So, you don't know anything about your mom? Okay. No, I came here on my motorcycle, so But only on your motorcycle? No, that motorcycle been here, but No, but I'm just saying, no. No, I don't. I'm not looking for no drone. As you can look at me. This don't make sense. Is she going to be cool? Is your mother-in-law going to be cool with us? No, ain't nobody on that. She just We just No, it was just it was just That's the only thing is I'm yelling. Uh it's that bike. Where's your phone? Don't Don't touch it. Because things were going so smoothly, she decides to come back. And of course, it only gets worse from here. Do not touch the key. Do not touch the key or you will go under arrest. Do you understand that? I can take his keys. >> And why is that? >> Because he drove here revoked. He does not have a license. This car is going to be impounded. Oh my god, you guys are something. Yep. Where's your phone? You're not grabbing anything from him. I'm going to have his phone. He's going to be released here. >> I'm okay. That's fine. So, you got to go Hey, good looking, man. You cool. She But No, he's not. They both Okay. Ma'am, I will take you in I will >> She did not touch you. I have not touching me. Oh my god. These guys are something. She didn't touch me. She's on her way. Okay. She's on her way. And as it turns out, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Her daughter, the man's wife, will be arriving shortly and she's not coming to make peace. Don't touch me. You can let go of me. I'm not going anywhere. Can I grab your phone so you don't drop it? Well, we're going to have to take it. Well, you're not. >> Okay, can Grohi grab it? I'm not grabbing it, she is. Either let go of it or we're going to have more issues, okay? Oh, you are something else. Here's what was going to happen. He was just going to get a ticket and released. >> That's fine. >> And now you have to ask >> somebody to come get his bike so it could be taken home. No, he drove here revoked. >> That's why I asked him for his keys. And I told you no. So, I asked him for his phone. >> And I told you So I could call his attorney. What did I tell you over there? If you You said nothing about >> here and obstruct my investigation, I will take you into custody. >> obstructing your investigation. Okay, I'm not arguing with you. Let's go No, you're under arrest. Can I ask you one thing? Why did you bring her with you? Because you know, you've been cool with us and we could have handled this thing so easily and and now she's getting into So, you brought her with to try and and back you up, is that what But I feel like she's escalating. I feel like you're doing a much better job at being calm and working with us. And like we don't want her to get in trouble, but she's just not like leaving us alone, you know? That's the issue though. Okay. They better not be rough with my mother though. They're not. Do you know her? That's my mother-in-law. Y'all won't let her go? Sorry. That's my mother-in-law. If I'm going to be honest with you, if you would have just stayed here, kind of made it worse that you left and came back, you know? I didn't ride this bike, man. Y'all ain't see me ride this bike, man. That bike was not here It doesn't matter. Because this situation clearly needed one more voice. His wife shows up and immediately begins creating more problems for officers. You can't prove that So So, now they're taking my bike. Please stop No, you're not taking the bike, sorry. No, you No, don't touch No. Wadell Hey, Mar. No, get out. Get out. I'm going to I'm going to get out of the No. Because I'm not going to get out of >> taking the bike, so I'm going to take the bike. Why? Because Because I saw him riding the bike. You can't He drove here Yes, we can. You can't. Wait, how? We have witnesses, okay? Okay, witnesses. No, that's third party. That's witnesses. That's the No. So, here's the thing. I'm going to take >> Ma'am, it's in the bike. Let me get his I want his phone. Ma'am, Ma'am. Ma'am, what? I will take you into custody as well. >> What? I haven't done anything. How am I obstructing? I haven't even I want his bike. I want his bike. >> I want his phone so I can call the lawyer. Where is the phone? In the bike. >> Okay, I will grab it. This is stupid as hell. That's my bike. I'm the I'm the least She said she wasn't going to cause problems. She's doing exactly what your mother-in-law did. But how is that my problem? >> seat. I'm the most calmest >> You are the calmest one. What the [ __ ] No, but they're going to bat for you, so No, because it's wrong. Where is my brother? Did you put her in cuffs, too? >> Yes. Yes, because she was told not to obstruct and she obstructed. She was coming to get the keys. Wadell, please get over here because they're taking mom and Dante to freaking jail. No, we're not. Wait, we're not taking Dante to jail. They're going to be released here. You're I'll talk to her because you're being very rude. That's what I did. So, then So, you It's the law that if you drive revoked Before you take it, I want to have his lawyer. You can talk to the lawyer. We are not talking to his lawyer. Well, I don't want the bike. I don't care. They have witnesses about him riding the bike. Just because you have witnesses does not mean that they should be taken anywhere. But that's okay. Don't worry about coming over here because all they're going to do is racial profile you, too. Don't come over here cuz you want to. He was also gotten assaulted Yes, and we we arrested I'm not talking to you. She wasn't here for that. It's It's okay. But you guys are racial profiling. No, we're not. You walk near that bike, I will arrest you. You won't arrest me, I don't care. We already have two individuals in handcuffs and she's doing just about everything she can to make it three. Arriving on scene without a clear understanding of the situation, but still trying to take control. Obstructing investigation. I'm clarifying. Those are two separate charges. I'm not talking to you. I'm talking to somebody else. I'm not talking to you. What are you doing? What's like what's happening with him because like I wrote him for disorderly. And that's it, we're not doing DUI for him. I don't know, ma'am. I don't know. That's fine. All right. Well, this That's why I told Ronnie to get out of the car because she walked up and she was like, "Yeah, I'm taking your bike." And I was like, "What?" No. So, Dante has all his paperwork done for him. Yes. So, can you just like get them I'm good. I don't know if you're going to leave without her. So So, we're taking all three of them into custody? No. No, but I don't I don't see her and him leaving without her. But what are we doing? She'll be released. Are you okay? You're sweating. I'm okay. It's hot back here. I'm I'm pissed. Y'all was laughing at my mother-in-law. I'm okay. Y'all could took me to jail instead of her, but y'all could put that on >> not going to jail. Okay, well I understand that people Okay, when I release this hand, I want you to put it on top of your head, okay? [ __ ] Your shoulder. Yeah. Do you need medics? [ __ ] no. >> [laughter] >> [ __ ] no. If I did, I I wouldn't even tell you. >> [laughter] >> Hell [ __ ] no. I don't blame you. This is just a disaster. At least Ronnie and I were sitting right there. It just And no, but that bike wasn't here when we got here. Now out of handcuffs, she continues voicing her frustration, making it clear she's not happy with their sergeant. Honestly you would talk a lot different, both of you, than your lieutenant does. He's very cocky. I work in a jail. I see this all the time. He's very cocky. I'm your lieutenant. You don't talk to me like that. Yeah. I'm sorry. I don't want to leave here with a sour taste in anyone's mouth, okay? I have a very sour one. And I'm sorry for that. You were very cocky. "I'm your lieutenant." No, honestly you're not. I don't disagree. I was probably a little cocky, a little bit of an ass. I can be that way. If you want to call me an [ __ ] I don't fault you for it because I can be. I thought you were a random ass. Absolutely. I got some paperwork for you, too. Y'all got some plagiarism by yourself. Huh? I tell you you got some plagiarism by yourself. You know what I mean? You ain't got no like Y'all got some swag by yourself. Well, I appreciate that. And this is wrong. This has been blown way out of proportion. >> This is so like because people are not looking at the problem. The problem was the guy. Yes. So And we arrested him. So my No, but people text me, right? I'm going to show you the text message. You can? Come on. I'm recording you. Man, I've been on record you. I I got no issues with I got no issues with anyone here. What the issue is I still end up in cuffs. I still end up losing my bike. All this [ __ ] because of someone else actions that wanted the black man to suffer. And I'm still And I'm still suffering and that's not right. What happened there to you is [ __ ] I don't disagree with that. I mean, what he did is wrong and we arrested him for that. Yes. Listen, I'm going to fight this and I'm going to win. Okay. That simple. That's fine. But it's wrong that I still got to go through that for a racist prick. That is wrong. But it's still He still got what he wanted. He got arrested. And I still got to spend money and disrespected because of his actions. When a black man do what he do, he go straight to jail. When a white man do it, you better believe all sort of black man going to jail. So let me ask you, what do you think would be the appropriate outcome in this situation? >> Y'all ain't see me ride up on a motorcycle? Man, you told me. You know >> No, I didn't. Inside you did. So what would help make this situation better? Leave my bike alone. Y'all leave and nobody see nothing. Uh we can't do We can't do that where nobody sees nothing. But the thing is Come on, be fair with me. Do any of them have a motorcycle license? My mother-in-law do. Which one? Her? Man, that motorcycle fast as hell. Does she have a motorcycle license? My mother-in-law do, yeah. Can I Can you get her to give me it? Sally. Sally. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. No, they hurt her. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. I'm going to jail. Stop. They hurt my mother. >> Stop. Get in the truck. Give me your motorcycle license. Give me your motorcycle license. Hang out for me. Let me look at that and I'll see if I can meet you in the middle. Does that seem fair, man? In the end, Jeffrey, the man police initially spoke with at the bar, was cited for disorderly conduct and released. However, after Dante stated he wanted to press charges, a battery charge was later added. Sally was initially given a felony charge for obstructing justice, but that was later changed to a misdemeanor charge of obstructing a peace officer. As for Dante, he was cited for driving with a revoked license after returning to the scene and creating further issues. Although officers noted signs of possible impairment, they did not proceed with a DUI investigation. What are your thoughts on this case?
