In the early morning hours of February 20th, 2026, police in Overland, Missouri responded to a call about a man threatening his roommate with a handgun. But within minutes officers would find themselves [music] surrounding the home as the suspect began pointing a weapon from inside. As officers from multiple agencies worked to establish a perimeter around the home, the suspect went back inside [music] briefly out of view. Moments later, an officer positioned behind the house reported seeing him at a rear window breaking it out. Move it up. I'm going to hold here in case he wants to run out the front. Definitely the window is broken. Window is broken. Unit 5 secure. Who shot fired? Who I got less lethal in the car. All right. Hey, we're Let's move over here. Window on the house. We're moving alongside the building now. Waiting alongside the building. He's got holding a knife. Hey dog, is that a knife or a gun? All right. Throwing objects out the window. William 22, I'm near the backyard to the left side. I'm watching him now. Sir, drop whatever in your hand. Drop what's in your hand. William 22, shots fired, shots fired. Officers are secure. Suspect shot. William 22, we're going to have to breach this house. I got breaching tools in the back of my car. William 22, I'm holding my position on the rear of the tree. Subject barricaded, still moving inside the residence. All right, I'm holding long gun. Somebody take a radio. Where is the subject right now? Should be under the Should be under the rear right window. Sir, if you're still alive, speak up. If you're still moving around. Anybody got a name on the subject? Robert, are you still with us? He's bringing more cars. That's right, more cars. Are units secure? COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP. DROP THE WEAPON. SIR, DROP whatever in your hand. DROP THE GUN. DID YOU GET HIM? HE'S STILL MOVING. HE'S STILL MOVING. All right, I'm holding long gun. Somebody take a radio. He's got to be laying on the floor. Should be under the rear right window. Sir, IF YOU'RE STILL ALIVE, SPEAK UP. IF YOU'RE STILL MOVING AROUND. Anybody got a name on the subject? Robert, are you still with us? No officers were injured during the incident and Lewis later died from his injuries. Investigators later recovered a Ruger LCP 380 handgun and a large knife from inside the residence along with damage to the rear window where he had been seen moments earlier.
