Slurred speech, failed sobriety tests, and pills found in her purse. occupied with her daughter here. Both are denying any injuries. Um, she said she has no medical history. She said she has bad tires. It's kind of slick. There's a lot of traffic. >> So, she's not requesting transport. At least her vehicle. >> Okay. >> Ready? >> Right there. >> Right where >> right on that street. >> Okay. >> So, I can just have him. My phone got smashed. >> Okay. So, I I don't have his number, so I'm just going to walk over there or go to Metro and get a new phone. >> I'm going to have you hang out here for a little bit, okay? Cuz I got to do a crime investigation as well. >> You have your insurance and your registration for the vehicle? Of >> course. Anything else? Where were you headed? >> I I was going downtown cuz I have an appointment. >> Okay. Where do you have an appointment at? >> Um work. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, um, and I was late, but I wasn't like speeding or anything, but I've never been down this, so this road before. I was just trying to make a shortcut, and I was trying to turn, and look how bad our tires are. Well, his tires. My car has been shot. >> Okay. Whose car is this? >> This is my husband's, but I'm insured on it. Okay. >> Train registration. >> There you go. >> And can I just see which airbags deployed? >> Oh, we got all of them. >> So, they said, >> every single one of them. Okay. >> And this was like that >> that man. Okay. >> You sure you're okay? I know EMS already left. You sure you're okay? EMS already left. >> Hello. >> I'm Brandon. What's your name? >> You get your You have my license, right? >> I have your license. Yes, ma'am. >> Absolutely. And she was in her car seat. >> Oh, yeah. Shocking. >> And you had your seatelt on? >> Oh, yeah. >> Okay. >> Always. >> All right. >> So, you don't want me to call a tow truck? You said you have someone that'll tow it? >> Yeah, cuz it's like 50 bucks. >> Okay. He won't even he probably only charged me. >> Nice. All right, cool. Well, I'm going to work on a crash report um and start getting everything up and together. Um since it was just you with the property damage. I think this is a city owned gate. So, I'll just document that. >> Okay. >> Um so, give me just a second if you guys just want to hang out. >> I know. >> Um can I before I go You all right? >> Yeah, I'm fine. >> You okay? >> Good. Just take >> Yeah, she got a nice band-aid. >> No, she actually started after the Christmas break because she was late on B. >> So, what happened? >> So, I have an appointment downtown and I was late. I wasn't speeding, but I never been down this road before and I went to go turn, but his tire, this is my husband's truck, his tires are so bald that like the brakes went out. What's >> How do you spell her first name? Yeah, they ain't that ball. >> The front one. >> It's only frontwheel drive. >> What's her birthday? [Music] >> Yeah. >> She's in this back seat. This back right car seat. Hi. It hit me. >> What? >> It ran out in front of me. >> What ran out in front of you? >> The fence. >> You all right, honey? >> She's fine, babe. >> Oh, yeah. What? You all right? We are fine. >> Have you ever been all right? >> Yeah, we're good. >> What' you do? >> I parked down here cuz I was going downtown, babe. Down here. >> I know. >> And I didn't see I mean, I seen it, but I tried like >> You didn't have any other cars. >> So, this fence is here. >> Yeah, cuz the front cuz you have frontwheel drive and the freaking Sorry, baby. >> It's not your fault. Ah, >> Steph, what is going on? You're acting like it's it's my fault. >> I'm not acting like it's your fault. It looks to me like tires on the front. >> What? I know. I see what happened. I I don't know if there's other cars involved or anything. >> I told you no. >> Come with a tow truck. >> I asked I don't know his number. Can you call him? >> Yeah, I can call him. Let me put you down. Gia, >> I mean, good thing. >> I don't know. Right over there. >> I had a GPS on it, so I can't get to it. So, that's total. >> It is. >> Yeah. So what we got down was a old 97 Ford. >> Oh, you know what? I don't know. What do you want me to do? >> Okay. >> I know. >> I'm not I'm not going to blow up. I'm not going to scream. >> As long as my baby's all right and you're okay. >> My baby's all right. It's all right. >> FPL owns. >> Yeah. What? What? You think she'd be on? >> I don't think so. She's seeing right now and she's checking in every day. Every day she's be doing P test. Well, no. Every day she's doing a meeting and every other Monday, Wednesday, Friday she does a um a drop. >> Little odd that just go straight into a fence like this. >> It's to me too. >> It doesn't make any sense. >> To me, too. But I mean, >> she makes her eyes a little deeper. >> Yeah, but she's got a she has a psychiatrist. >> That's why I'm speaking. >> No, she does go to a psychiatrist and I went to the other day and he changed her her medications and she was like going to sleep a little bit before I left the house. I was going to go grab medication. >> I don't know what it's what it is, but it's too strong. I can tell you that right now. The doctor made a mistake cuz I told her, I said, "Whatever you're on." So I tried to wake her up this morning and she was like really really hard to wake up and I said she goes I think the dose he gave me is too strong and that's her doctor said doctor gave it to her. >> I don't think she's under any >> illegal >> but I think that the sleeping pills that doctor gave her are too strong. >> I do agree this isn't even she's not even said the brakes failed. What did he put you on your doctor? Um >> your sleeper pills. >> Well, what did you tell me this morning? [Music] >> I could call skin marks. >> No, there is ski marks. I do see skid marks. >> Well, that's where >> that's where the >> contact is with the fence cuz the fence was right where the skid marks start is where the fence was. >> She's going to see a counselor. >> You on your phone? >> Um, no. >> I could call. He's got a recruit. >> All right, Stephanie. Um, so I've completed my crash investigation based on the impact, based on everything. I've got all the information that I need there. Um, but now is the part where I'm changing hats. I'm going from a crash investigation to a DUI investigation. I do believe you're under the influall. >> So, I'm going to be doing a DUI investigation. >> Can you come with me? >> Yeah. Not though. >> Okay. >> Um, can you do me a favor and just set that stuff down? >> Sure. >> And then take your backpack off. Yeah. >> An emergency. >> And then come right over here for me. >> Okay. Have you had anything to drink today? >> Any alcoholic beverages? You don't drink alcohol? Okay. Have you taken any in the last 12 hours? >> Um, when I first got up this morning, I took one cuz I'm prescribed three a day. I took one this morning. I took one uh seven No, cuz that's what I'm prescribed. >> Have you taken anything else since then? Cuz it's 4:30 and you still seem a little out of it. You see your eyes are drooping as I'm talking to you. You're having trouble standing straight up. So, >> no, I'm not having trouble. >> Okay. Well, you're leaning on the car when I first started talking to you. Um, so you have not taken anything since 8:00 a.m. this morning when you took your prescribed diazipene and nlloxxone. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> I want you to do everything you have to do. >> And if it is medical, then it's medical. So, I think he overprescribed. >> Yeah. So, we'll do that once we're done. >> Remember, he told her that she was and got caught. She was arrested twice. >> Once we're done with the >> He said do half doses. >> So, once we're done with the investigation, run toward the vehicle and you can take what you need out and then you guys are going through everything. >> You think I really would take my daughter in the guard bombs? >> I don't know. But I do know that fire called us because you were slurring your speech and you seemed intoxicated. Plus the only thing that I have to go off of here. >> I'm sorry. My speech went. >> Mhm. >> When you're talking to them and you're still kind of slurring it a little bit now. Plus the contact. >> That's how I talk. >> Okay. There's also no skid marks. You hit straight through a fence. >> There's no turn. You didn't try to turn. Nothing. So the way that you're acting just I'm just going to evaluate for DUI, but I'm going to grab some stuff out of my vehicle. We're going to run you through some field sobriety tests. Pass all those. We'll get you on your way. Okay. So, you said you're kind of like this, but you're also been prescribed a lot of medication. >> Even though you're prescribed it, that doesn't mean you can drive on it. You know what I mean? >> Right. But no, I took my sleeping pills last night. >> Okay. >> So, they don't need in the morning or anything. So, >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. Just sit tight for me right here. Okay. >> Okay. >> All right, Stephanie. So, first test I'm going to do or the first um exercise I'm going to do is called the horizontal gaze and stagmus. So, are you wearing glasses or are you wearing contacts? >> No. >> Okay. All right. So, I'm going to check with I'm going to check your eyes. I need you to stand with your feet together with your hands by your side, just like this. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, you're going to stand like this. Hands by your side. Okay. You're going to look at the stimulus. Stimulus is going to be my pen. Okay. You're going to look right at the tip of my pen. >> Mhm. >> Oh, you want to follow? >> Sorry. Sorry. Right here. You're going to follow the tip of my pen. You're just going to keep looking to the eye. Don't turn your head. Just use your eyes. Okay. Okay. Okay. So, here follow it all the way out. Okay. >> Uhhuh. >> I'm trying my >> go the other way. >> Hands at your side. Okay. And we're going to go up. I saw each other. It's fine. >> Okay. Thank you. >> All right. The next one we're going to do is called the walk and turn. >> Okay. >> So, if you can come and stand right here on this line. Right foot in front. Hands down to your side. You're not walking yet. You're just standing. >> Not that night. >> Okay. I need you to just stand just like this. Oh, >> left foot on the line, right foot in front. >> Okay, I need you to stay like that while I read you the instructions. Okay, >> I'm nervous, too. >> If you fall off the line, just go right back to your starting point. >> I just got to an accident. So, >> okay. Go straight to >> All right. When I tell you to start, you're going to take nine heel to toe steps on the line. Okay. >> Whenever you're ready, go ahead. >> Okay. One. >> Hands to your side. >> Hands on your side. Heel to toe. >> Okay. Let me Can I go up? Sure. >> One, two, three, four, >> okay, we're going to do one last test. So, this one has the same starting position as the pen test. Okay? You're going to stand with your feet together, your arms down at your side, just like this. >> Okay? >> And you're going to stand just like this until I tell you otherwise. Okay? So, don't move from here. Put your feet together. Going to stand just like that. Okay? Don't move. 1,001 1,002 >> Look at your toe. >> Huh? >> Look at your toe. >> Oh, I'm sorry. 100,00 1,002. I can't stand on one leg. >> Just keep going. If you fall down, just put it pick it right back up. >> 2016. >> Okay. >> It's really hard to stand. >> We got one more test. So, you see his driver side mirror or passenger side mirror? >> Uh-huh. I need you to just turn and face and stand and stare right at that mirror. >> Uh-huh. >> So, stand just like this. >> Uh-huh. >> Do it now. Face the mirror. Now, you don't have to walk over there. Come here. >> This mirror right here. >> Oh, I think that one. >> Nope. Passenger side. Put your hands behind your back. >> You're under arrest for smashing the deal. Really? >> If you want to put your daughter in the truck, you can. But she's going to go with us today. Okay. generous >> under some influence. She's not able to do any of the tests. She's failing them. >> I honestly do believe it's that sleep. >> And if that's the case, then >> she's also not supposed to be instructed to take sleep girls, you know. >> No, no, it's half dose. I mean, I don't know if she took a he don't feel comfortable >> letting her go when she had a daughter. I'm not saying she would do will ill will to her, but >> No, I know. with where the breaking point where she hit that fence is like >> she last minute. She drove right through that fence. >> It looks to me that way too. >> There's no skid marks here. I mean, she just drove right through the fence. She's she's unable to do any of the tests. >> She can't do any of them. I was wondering if she cannot do them. She just >> Okay. >> She's failed at some point in >> Okay. So, now she's in drug court. >> Yeah. >> Now, she can't get out of Christmas or nothing. I guess >> that I don't know. She needs to get with She's probation officer. I assume she needs to get with probation. >> She's not on probation. She's in drug court. >> Okay, so that's fine. Um, let's just get out of the road. Um, DUI or misdemeanor, so she should have a bond. >> So, just Yeah, but when you're in drug court, I don't know. >> That that I don't that I don't know. But >> I know she was going to see >> you did about four or five tests for >> She can't do anything. >> No, she's not been she's not passing. I I tell you what, this morning I went into wake her up cuz she sleeps with her >> and she just it's like a zombie >> and she's kind of like and if it's the medication, you need to go with the psychiatrist. >> Yeah. >> Explain to what's going on. But we we're not I'm not a psychiatrist. She's not a psychiatrist. >> I believe it is. >> So, we can only go based on what evidence we have. >> Yeah. Honestly, I know she had a drug problem and I know that she's been good since she got arrested twice. The second time she got arrested, I called the cops. >> Okay. But it was for >> Got it. >> So here's >> an inventory of the vehicle. >> Okay. >> Obviously, we're conducting investigation beyond a traffic. >> So, um, if everything comes back good, I'll let you grab whatever you need out of that truck. >> I got a lot of stuff in there. >> Yeah, we'll let you grab whatever important stuff you need and then we're just going to go ahead tow it to >> If you want to stick around, you can and have them tow where you want to tow it, but it's going to you're probably going to have to pay them directly some some cash or something. >> I messed up, bro. You know, I'm going to miss my daughter's Christmas. >> I don't make jail until Christmas, but um don't make that decision. All right. Since you're detained, um I'm going to ask you some more questions, but you have rights while I do. So, so I'm going to read them to you. Um you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in the court of law. >> She knows she's getting blaming the brakes. She got blame the tires. There's nothing wrong with the tread on the tires. Tires >> brakes, man. >> I'm not I'm not driving. I don't know that unless you take it to a mechanic. But the driver said the brace didn't work. She my daughter even said just didn't work. But what does she know? >> As soon as she was strapped into her seat and everything, >> I can't take the word of a How was she? You know what I mean? >> She's going to be six January. >> If I was to take the word of a six-year-old for brake pads, I >> No, she she don't know. She >> She was probably playing her phone I bought her last night. I remember looking forward to a nice Christmas. She's in drug court and everything is going smooth. >> We listen, we want her home for Christmas. It's just she's going to have to take care of this first and hopefully, you know, Christmas ain't till Monday. So, we got some days, you know what I mean? >> So, this morning at 8:00 a.m. >> Yeah. >> You took what? >> I took a D a 5 mg. I'm prescribed it. >> Mhm. >> Okay. And >> Okay. >> Okay. >> That's the sublingual one. >> Yes. >> Okay. And you haven't taken anything since then and >> No, I don't drink. No. >> Okay. What's the usual effects for your dioapan? >> I just got put on it. >> Are you used to it? Have you taken it a lot? I know your husband said that you have some issues that they overdosed you. >> No. >> And you're taking too much. >> No, the sleeping pills I was taking before. >> Okay. But you you haven't had any issues. They told you you can drive. >> Yeah. They told me Yeah. >> Okay. Everybody's fine. >> Okay. >> All right. Were you distracted by anything as you were driving before you hit the ran into the fence or you just >> I was calling on my phone. >> Yeah. >> And she's always distracting me. Give me your phone. Let me give her a phone. Let me watch cartoons. >> Yeah. >> Why'd you go this way? >> Cuz I was trying to do a cut um a shortcut because it's traffic and I was late. >> Okay. like a citation or anything. >> Uh, we're going to go to the jail. I'm going to read you some more things called implied consent. Um, you're going to have a breath test. >> Uhhuh. >> And then, um, we'll go from there. >> Okay. What's that? >> I don't know. This My husband has a clean I just found out. >> This is >> That's an old wallet. >> This is not your wallet. >> That's It was in the purse that you were wearing. >> Yeah. Old wallet. >> Be truthful to us. >> Yeah. Now's the time to be honest. >> Truthful. >> Yeah. It was probably in there >> and I probably didn't clean that side out. >> Honestly. Seriously. >> What's in it? Nothing. >> From the last time they I got arrested. >> It's my mother. She's passed away. >> What do you use that What's the syringe for then? Why is it in your purse? >> When I got out of jail, my husband cleaned out all my I left my purse at home. >> You see how it looks though? You get >> I see now how it looks. Yeah. Look at my arms. Don't shoot. [Music] One more take. >> Yeah. [Music] Huh? >> Yes. >> Charles, what about the D? >> Are they supposed to be mixed up like that? >> No, those are my mouth. >> He gave me those. >> There's yellow and there's blue. What? What's >> right? The blue ones are his. Yeah, he gave me some toy last >> mixed with with the yellow ones. >> So you put the together. He gave them to me and said, "Put them in my truck." >> What? >> I'm doing the last. I'm asking you because I wasn't around. >> What about the >> 8:00? Found a needle. I have some. I told her. >> Hey, Jack, can you grab her denim jacket out of the back seat? >> Should be in the back. It should be in the back seat. Blue denim jacket. >> She couldn't do any of the tests. >> That's correct. >> And she's uh elected to have you take control or take all of her property. She's not taking anything with her to jail. >> That's fine. That's fine. So, when can I get my >> I don't know when it'll be released or I'm done. >> Oh, can I release it today? >> I don't I'm not the one that released to a place of my location. >> Can I have it towed to wherever I want to drive? >> We're pounding it. We're not It's no longer being towed for a crash. We're impounding the vehicle. >> Impounding. >> Yeah. >> So, what products inside? >> Well, there's narcotics in the vehicle. We're impounding it. >> That's right. No, there is narcotics. >> That's correct. Yeah. >> Legal or illegal? >> Well, there was a needle in her purse and then mix of she says benzo in her prescription. Did you mix her prescriptions? >> I don't see nothing like that. >> She said you did. So, >> mix with her prescriptions. >> Yeah. Well, then is it possible that she's taking your >> It's possible. >> Okay. Cuz her there's pill bottles that are marked for whatever, >> but then there's it's mixed with other pills that she says she took from you or got from you and you put the pills in with her stuff. >> I never put nothing in anything. >> She might have got in fact saying I put her in my safe. >> Okay. Um, would you guys mind waiting by your truck? Just not a problem. I started jacking. >> I'm going to get her in the car and then she wants to talk to you before we leave. I'll let her do that. >> Yeah. So, I wasn't sure if he was going to impound the car, but yeah, he's going to search it. Once he's finished searching it out, >> we're just on a different page. So, >> beautiful. >> But if you guys wouldn't mind, just wait. Just I'll let you talk to him once you're done in in the car. Go ahead and hop up in the car. Just >> step right there. Step >> right here. >> Another bag for sure. >> Yeah. More like for consist. Yeah. >> Yeah. And then she had another small bag. Get some more burlo. So, I just wanted to be transparent. You know, >> see, this is what she got arrested for last time. >> There's two bottles of unopened vodka and crown in there. >> That's not me. >> I know it's not open. So, I don't know if she's mixing her medication with alcohol >> cuz that's also an indicator. >> She just told me she bought liquor. Stamp. >> She did buy liquor. She bought a bottle of vodka and crown. It's not open. >> She don't drink. >> She's mixing both. >> She don't drink that. >> Why would she buy that? >> I don't know. That's what I'm confused about. I don't know if she's a binger or she's just going through. >> She's been on it. You see, she she relapsed about 6 months ago. Her friend died. Okay. Went to the funeral. Turns out the girl she went to the funeral with in Northport was got her right back on. And I've been going through nightmares. I've been going through hell. >> This isn't the first time we dealt with people doing narcotics behind their significant other's back. If that's the case, it's not unusual to me to hide something, especially with a history of being arrested, kid, stuff like that. >> She's she got arrested twice >> and now she's a drug court and I thought she was keeping her nose clean. I thought >> between the testing and the indicators in the vehicle, you know, >> I totally agree with you. >> But um she looks guilty. >> She's she's going to go I'm going to tow I'm going to get a toe. But if you want to >> They'll have to You have to get with them on that. Do you have any explanation for why you can't do the sobriety test? Why your eyes are so droopy? Why your eyes are so bloodshot? You have any? >> I'm crying. >> Well, they've been bloodshot since I met you, Stephanie. >> I don't get much sleep, but my three teeth kind of sleep. >> Okay. >> Um, do me a favor. Just stand a little bit away. No leaning. I can't let you can't let her kiss the daughter. Can't let her No contact. Okay. Where's she in the back? >> I figured you were going to be crying. I don't know what happened, but they found stuff they shouldn't have found. >> Yeah, but I didn't know it was a >> I know that. What's your name? Threw something under the seat last week when you got arrested. I do know that, but I don't know what what else. Why'd you buy liquor? >> Cuz it's better for you. Ah, got enough. I don't drink no more. >> Anyway, listen. Being you're on drug court, this is going to throw you out now. >> I don't know. >> Well, >> don't look at it all. I'm sure. >> Who do I call? >> I don't know if it automatically disqualif. >> I don't know if you'll have a bond. I'll bond you out if I can. For Christmas, I'd like you home. But you got it. But you can't do the test. You failed the sobriety test. >> Oh my god, I have a new sneakers on, babe. >> You want my sneakers? I got to give you my sneakers. I just bought a new pair last night. Oh, >> you tester break to make yourself. >> You were supposed to be to see Danielle. >> Yeah, I was running and wait now. I can't hear. I can't hear the crap. >> She was distracting me and everything else. >> Well, we'll get through it. You know, you got to just go. >> We'll get through it. >> You >> I'll get you out if I can, babe.
