In 1984, an 18-year-old girl was helping her father install a door in their basement. As she reached for a tool and turned her head, he attacked and pressed her with a cloth soaked in ether to her face. He then dragged her unconscious body and locked her underground behind a heavy soundproof steel door with no way out. He told everyone she had run away to join a cult.
